PART SEVEN (CONCLUSION) This week, we join Brother Polansky on the last leg of his trip through the Czech Republic. This week's final chapter joins our Texas traveler in Roznov. After I got back to the hotel, we were picked up by our friend, Dr. Sticka's wife. She took us to their lovely house in the suburbs of Roznov. The house was two stories tall and inside it was much like our houses were some 40 to 50 years ago. The interior furnishings were very nice and the atmosphere was friendly. We exchanged gifts and then we had a delicious homecooked meal of chicken breasts, potatoes and my favorite dumplings with gravy. After we ate, we all sat around their living room and conversed in Czech and English. They had some unexpected company—a couple from Finland who could speak English but no Czech. Since my wife, these folks, Dr. Mikusek and I spoke English and since Dr. Sticka, his wife, Dr. Mikusek and I spoke Czech, we had a very interesting conversation. Later, we were driven back to the hotel by Mrs. Sticka, a very friendly person who sings at the drop of a feather. I went to the hotel bar and saw that two of our group had just returned from a visit to see some of their relatives. They were really happy since they had sat around all afternoon drinking slisovica with their kinfolks. Apparently the male relative kept his whiskey in a beehive and they sat there all day, pestering the bees and toasting everything. After that, they came back a little plastered, so we kind of gave the bar a Texas-type atmosphere. After all that fun, we packed for our trip back to Prague the next day. The next day, we had a buffet breakfast and packed our suitcases on the old bus. I was a little sorry to leave the good old Aeroplan Hotel. We left and headed for Bmo, the second largest city in the Czech Republic. On our way, we went through some towns where the Russians had polluted the ground by releasing diesel from their tanks. It was nearly 10 a.m. when we arrived in Brno. We parked in a shopping center parking lot near a K-Mart. Yep', I said, "K-Mart." We were told to be back about noon in order to continue our journey to Prague. There was a large railroad yard next to the parking lot and you could see the trains and trollies as they passed by.
