New Plan Crosses Traditional Lines The Plan is in the Mail Acting on the direction provided by delegates to the 26th SPJST convention in Victoria last summer, the Supreme Lodge unveiled its Lodge Incentive and Recognition program at the Local Lodge Workshop held in Academy on March 13. As was reported in the March 17 issue of the Vestnik, the new plan is designed to increase membership in the SPJST and member participation in local lodges.

This past week, the Supreme Lodge President's Office sent information packets, detailing the program's guidelines, to all lodge presidents and fraternal activity coordinators (FACs).

Basically, the plan underscores the fact that the SPJST is a people-oriented business and not just an insurance company.

The SPJST is a family-oriented system.

It's a way to fulfill your desire to do your part in helping your community. And of course, it can provide the cornerstone around which you can build your family's financial security.

The founders of the SPJST chose nearly a century ago to organize under the law as a fraternal benefit society.

Many of us still feel that this is the best type of organization for what we are trying to do. As such, a program that works to achieve a good balance between fraternal activities and insurance sales would seem to he essential for solid growth in membership.

For years, fraternal benefit societies all over the country have been looking for the key to stimulate growth in membership. Although the total dollar amount of fraternal life insurance in force continues to increase, membership in many fraternal benefit societies is on the decline.

Within our own Society, over the past ten years, the total amount of life insurance in force increased 46 percent, from $169 million in 1983 to slightly more than $308 million as of December 31, 1992. During that same time, the total number of certificates in force declined by 13 percent, from 56,712 in 1983, to 49,464 as of December 31, 1992.

Both the increase in total volume and the decrease in total number of certificates in force are significant. It is important to note, however, that some percentage of the decline in certificates may be attributable to deaths, maturities, expirations, surrenders and lapses. Likewise, a portion of the decline may be attributable to individuals merging two or more life certificates into one certificate .. .

Whatever the reason, the Supreme Lodge-through the Lodge Recognition and Incentive Program-is merging fraternal and financial forces in an effort to stimulate new growth. When this exciting plan is announced at your lodge meeting, please give it your utmost attention and consideration. Your cooperation, participation and feedback are essential for it to be a success.

It's Up to Your Imagination At just about every lodge or district meeting I've attended lately, someone brings up the subject of a "District Fraternal Fest." The three most common questions are: What is it; when will it happen; and where will happen? The answer to all three-as vague as it may seem- depends on you, the member.

Before we go any further, some background information is needed. At their July 1992 meeting, the Supreme Lodge voted to apportion $750 "to each district wanting to conduct a Fraternal Festival."

The only other guideline stipulated by the Supreme Lodge was that "funds not used during each of the years are not to be carried forward." Although several districts have discussed the idea, to date, only District Six has taken advantage of the opportunity to host any sort of regional goodwill event. Their festival-a combination dinner and dancewas held on November 22 in Sweet Home.

According to my notes on the subject, the guidelines for hosting a district fraternal fest were left "loose" in an effort to encourage district officers and members to originate an event that would capture the character and taste of a particular district.

One of the ideas that emerged out of the District II Spring Meeting held March 28 at Lodge 80, Holland, was the notion of linking the District Two Fraternal Fest in with an already existing celebration within the district. Consequently a Fraternal Fest Committee was established to look into developing such an event. They will be meeting April 15 in Round Rock to explore the possibilities.

Like others, I am very interested in seeing what sort of "hybrid" festival may evolve from this brainstorming session.

The point is, the fraternal fest can be what you want it to be. There are no right or wrong "fraternal fests." If you want to tie it in with your fall meeting, as I believe has been suggested in District Three, that's okay too. Have some fun with the idea. Let your imagination take charge and see what you come up with.

Your good ideas and $750 as "seed money" could go a long way towards spreading fraternalism and the good news about the SPJST in your district.

*** Time is Fleeting ...

The time we have on this earth to devote to our family, friends and fraternal order is so short. Too short for feuding and too short to enjoy all that life has to offer. That thought in mind, may we take every opportunity in the coming weeks and months to show our family and friends that we love them and devote just a little extra attention to the maintenance and support of our local lodges. It will be time well spent.

District Five President Reports on Activities The District Five Spring Meeting was held at Lodge 88 in Houston on March 14. It was a successful meeting and everyone that came out enjoyed sharing fellowship with their brothers and sisters.

Those who came for lunch appreciated the baked chicken dinner. The social hours before and after the meeting were also popular as there was plenty of food and refreshments to go around.

District Five had an active year. Our

Fall Family Day was held at the Katy VFW Park. All those who attended had a good time, including the young people, who sponsored booths to raise money for their youth clubs. During the year the district hosted two money-making projects, both of which were successful.

You will recall that we hosted a hospitality room at the convention in Victoria, which everyone seemed to enjoy. District Five also hosted a special meeting before the convention during which time we reviewed the bylaws.

As District Five President, I personally visited many of the lodges in and outside of the district over the past year, including the District Six Fraternal Fest,

a seminar held in District One, the Youth Achievement Day at Lodge 88, and the party honoring our State King and Queen, both members of District Five.

I want to say "thank you" to all of those who helped in any way at the District Five meeting. Likewise, thanks for the donations of door prizes and for all of the good pastries. They were great.

What was left over was auctioned off and the proceeds divided between youth clubs representing Lodges 88, 142, 172 and 196. I also wanted to mention that we had very good attendance at our youth club meetings this past year.

Letters from the Lodges Lodge 13, Dime Box Reports on March Meeting The regular monthly meeting was called to order on Sunday, March 21 at 2:05 p.m. by President Ricky Ford. There were 12 officers present and two absent.

Matt Ford led the Pledge of Allegiance.

The minutes of the last meeting were read by Sister Dorothy Rachel and the treasurer's report was given by Sister Debbie Kostelka. Both were approved as read.

The District I meeting is scheduled for April 18 in Snook.

Our april meeting will be on April 25 at 12 noon. A delicious meal of chicken enchiladas will be served. Each member is asked to bring something to go along with enchiladas or a dessert.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:20 p.m.

Dear Brothers and Sisters, Just a few lines to inform you members of the Seaton Choral Group that we are going to the S.P.J.S.T. Rest Home in Taylor. We will entertain the residents there on Sunday, April 18th at 3 p.m. We are hoping that a good number will show up to cheer the hearts of those who can't go out for entertainment.

The Ellinger SPJST Lodge No. 51 held their quarterly meeting at the Ellinger Fire Station on March 24 at 7:30 p.m. with a good attendance.

President Ludwig Kocian called the meeting to order. Secretary-Treasurer John Mikulenka gave his reports which were approved and accepted.

The lodge supper and dance, which will be held on October 2 was planned and discussed. Details will be announced later.

The transfer of Bennie and Gladys Volcik to our lodge was announced. We are happy to have them in our lodge.

A 50-year pin was then presented to Mrs. Elsie Kulhanek by Mr. Kocian.

Others who were not in attendance and will be receiving 50-year pins are: Erna Girndt, John C. Orsak, Sidney Rutter, Emory Jean Willis and Bernice Kovalcik.

The meeting the adjourned and a light lunch brought by members was then enjoyed.

The next meeting will be held in June with the date to be announced.

Lodge 79, Corpus Christi to Meet April 18 Dear Members, The next scheduled meeting for Lodge No. 79 is set for Sunday, April 18 at 2 p.m. All meetings are held at the SPJST Lodge No. 79-Sokol Hall located on 5502 Kostoryz Road. After the meeting, there is a "svacina," for which each family is asked to bring something to eat.

At the April meeting, the new lodge incentive plan will be discussed in detail.

All members are urged to call another member to come and bring more members to meetings. It would he nice to see more members attending. We need the input of everyone.

80, Holland Reports on April Meeting

Lodge

Dear Members and Friends, President Harold Rohde called the April meeting to order at 4 p.m. The membership was led in the Pledge of Allegiance by President Rohde and a moment of silence was observed for departed members.

Roll call of officers indicated that Brother Glen Latham and Sister Glenda Liles were not in attendance due to funeral services being held for Brother Gene Liles.

Minutes from the March meeting were read by Frank Pajestka, Jr. and approved by the membership.

New members accepted into the lodge were Debbie Potts and Victoria Pajestka.

Frank Pajestka, Jr. gave a report on the officers' workshop in Academy. The membership was also given a copy of the incentive program for the lodge for the coming year.

Brother Rohde stated that Lodge No. 200, Bruceville-Eddy will be having a fish fry on April 16 from 5 until 8 p.m. for their scholarship fund drive and asked members to please attend.

On April 18th, the Leo Majek Orchestra will he at Holland for a dance from 3 to 7 p.m.

Vice President G. L. Brisbin and Brother Rohde made a presentation about the Home Branch Alarm system that the lodge may need to buy. Brother Rick Benner made a motion to purchase the system, seconded by Gary Rohlack.

Motion carried.

Brother Johnny Rohlack made a motion to give a donation to the SPJST scholarship fund in memory of Gene Liles. It was seconded by Otto Horelica.

Motion carried.

Birthdays for April were Tina Entrop and Johnny Rohlack.

Door prize winners were Johnny Rohlack, Frank Pajestka, Sr., Daffney Pajestka, Harold Rohde, and Della Horelica.

Kevin Benner was listed on the sick list. Get well soon! A motion was made to adjourn for the Easter Egg Hunt and social hour.

88, Houston Reports on Executive Meeting and Lodge Workshop Lodge

On March 24, 1993, an executive meeting was called by President Jerry Ermis to plan the big day—June 6, 1993—which will be Homecoming with a Splash. This is a day for the members; however, to qualify for a free dinner, you have to pay your annual dues of $6 for adults. You will have a card that you should have present. If you haven't paid your dues, there is plenty of time to do so. This will also be the day that our swimming pool officially opens. We will play games from 2 to 4 p.m. and will have a spinning wheel directed by Helen Hegwood and many of her faithful helpers.

The menu will consist of brisket, sausage, ranch-style beans, buttered potatoes, slaw, pickles, onions, jalapenos, bread and tea and will be catered by Tom Pierce. The price to those who have to pay is adults, $4.50, and children under 12 is $3.50. Serving will start at 11 a.m. and will continue through 1:30 p.m. on the outside. Then the food will be taken inside and served until 3 p.m. under the supervision of King B. Hegwood and his assistants. On the inside will be the Birthday Club's famous Pastry Booth under the supervision of Lillie Spies.

She's hoping for the best as the ladies from the Birthday Club and Lodge 88 members and friends always bring in some beautiful cakes and pies. Ask Lillie if she needs help as it's a great deal of work and I am sure that her regular helpers would like to be relieved.

The Choral Group will sing with the Lodge Orchestra on the gazebo from 12 noon until 1 p.m.

A free dance by the City Polka Boys from 5 to 9 p.m. will follow. So, mark your calendar in red so that you won't forget. We'll keep you very busy that day.

Youth Leader Barbara Linney will have a beauty contest at the pool. I do hope that your little ones will take part and win. It's up to you parents to encourage your youth.

Security people will be on hand to protect your property while you are enjoying your day. There's plenty of parking space available.

The Seventh Annual Local Lodge Workshop The seventh annual Local Workshop of the SPJST was held March 13, 1993 at Lodge 177, Academy. It was a great day!

All of us who were fortunate enough to be able to go had a wonderful time.

arms, serving us with kolaches and coffee—which tasted so good after that early, long trip. FAC Homer Alexander and wife Rita took Mildred Holeman and me in his car. Homer and I decided to buy some "hot" sausage on the way back.

Anyway, the day was well-planned by our fine Supreme Lodge officers. These "guys" really know what it's all about.

The purpose of this workshop was information gathering—getting new ideas for lodges across the state. The "power of asking" was also discussed as was surveying the needs of our members. I have already heard suggestions at Lodge 88 and talk about ways to implement getting people to join and work in the lodge.

The schedule was as follows: 9 a.m.—Registration, featuring coffee and kolaches.

10 a.m.—Welcome from Cyril! Pokladnik, on behalf of the Society, and from Otis Beck, on behalf of Lodge 177.

10:10—Welcome from President Howard Leshikar and members of the Supreme Lodge.

After the introduction of the intelligent and lovely Laurie Moore, she really gave all of us a lift. Her subject was "The Magic of SPJST Membership," which focused on the theme that a little bit of commitment equals big benefits.

Her presentation was marvelous and I just wish that all of you would have seen how well she explained everything. She was a very delightful lady. I, as well as many others, would love to hear her speak again.

Just before a delicious lunch, the "Fraternalist of the Year Award" was presented to J. C. Dressler, of Lodge 172, Pasadena by President Howard Leshikar and District Five Director Louis Hanus.

Others from Lodge 88 who, attended were: Helen and King Hegwood, Vincent Hegwood, Louis Hanus, Lydia Marsh, and Larry Pflughaupt. District Five was well represented, but I don't have all of their names.

161, Jourdanton Reports on March Meeting Lodge

Lodge 161 held its quarterly meeting on March 14, 1993 at 11:45 a.m. at the Jourdanton Civic Center. Twenty members and four visitors were present.

President Milton Koch called the meeting to order, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

President Koch asked for a Moment of Silence for deceased member Frances Harris. Also, a moment of silence was observed for Brother Henry Mann, recently released from the hospital and for Sister Estella Benitez, who just went into the hospital, March 12.

Sister Vlasta Juricek gave the table prayer.

President Koch welcomed visitors, including District Director Bob Bayer of Floresville.

President Koch presented 50-year pins to Sister Katherine Reid and Brother Jim Zezula. Pictures were taken of the recipients and of their "specially decorated" cake.

Next, members enjoyed a noon meal of barbecue chicken with all of the trimmings. Tea, coffee and desserts were fur-

nished by the members. Snogas Barbecue catered the meal.

Following the noon meal, the meeting continued.

The minutes of the previous meeting and the financial report were read by Secretary-Treasurer Tillie Koch.

The yearly audit of the books was reported by Brother Lyd Ermis as being in order.

Secretary Tillie Koch read correspondence from the Home Office concerning the April 12 workshop. Also, a "thank you" from the family of deceased member Frances Harris was read.

It was also reported that our lodge lost Sister Frances Loeffler, who cashed in her policy.

President Koch read a "thank you" from Supreme Lodge President Howard Leshikar, for our participation in the 1992 Hundred Pennies Scholarship Drive. Our help, the letter stated, was "deeply appreciated."

Vice President Donald Valchar reported that the $10,793.45 collected during the drive amounted to one million, one hundred twelve thousand, five hundred and eighty eight pennies. Gee—that's a lot of pennies.

In new business, the subject of door prizes at our meetings was made into a motion and accepted.

Next, Director Bayer spoke. He first congratulated 50-year members and stated that Lodge Fraternalists will be honored at the May 16th district meeting.

Brother Bayer stated that lodges would be receiving a new program of incentives for increasing memberships.

Our lodge should try to get nine new members, which would help to achieve the district goal of $100,000 for this year.

He also asked Secretary Tillie Koch to read the letter to members, concerning the April 12 workshop.

Brother Bayer also commented on loans for members through the Home Office and said that he hopes our lodge will be represented at the April 12th workshop.

President Koch thanked Brother Bayer for his report.

Birthdays and anniversaries were announced by Sister Bettie House. She then showed members the laminated page of the Vestnik, on which the 1992 Fraternalists were published.

Other business items were also discussed.

Our next quarterly meeting will be on June 13th at the Jourdanton Civic Center at 11:45 a.m.

Other business included the May 16th district meeting, the possibility of holding a district meeting in the Jourdanton area and a discussion of lodge membership.

Three door prizes donated by Milton and Tillie Koch were won by Victor Pivonka, Lyd Ermis and Virginia Valchar.

Brother Bob Bayer also donated ballpoint pens from the Home Office. Winners were Bob Bayer, Katherine Reid, Donald Valchar, Milton Koch, Vlasta Juricek, Bettie House, Jim Zezula, Ernest Spacek, Sam Bryant and Lloyd House.

President Koch reminded members to turn in their yearly fraternal worksheets.

New worksheets for 1993 were also distributed.

The motion to adjourn was made by Bettie House and seconded.

Lodge Rozkvet, No 172, Pasadena Social on April 18 Dear Members and Friends, Each year Lodge 172 provides what we call a "Member Social" as one of the very good reasons for belonging to SPJST. We will have our social on Sunday, April 18, and we urge all of our members and their guests to attend. This social consists of a very enjoyable diner and dancing.

The meal is usually ready for serving at 12:30 with dancing starting at 3 p.m.

Variety music will be provided by The Moonriders.

As you know, local lodge dues at Lodge 172 are due as of February 1st each year, and if you have paid yours, the meal and dance are free. If you have not paid to date, you can pay your dues at the door. All other invited guests pay $6 for dinner and dancing, or $4 for dinner only and $4 for dancing only. The cost of a plate for children under 12 is $2.50.

Those who wish to donate cakes or pastries are invited to do so and they will he sold for $0.50 per slice.

Our socials are great times for our members to socialize and visit with each other and get to know some of our nonmember guests.

We look forward to seeing all of you on April 18th.

178, Longview-Kilgore Shows Appreciation for VFW Post Lodge

Dear Members, As you know, we hold our monthly meetings at the VFW Post 4002 in Longview. They are moving into a new building on April 27-29. It is located at 401 Ambassador Row in Longview. The mailing address is P.O. Box 602, Zip 75606.

We voted to give $250 to the building fund and encourage our members to help with the move. They have plenty of trailers but need manpower.

This is one way that we can show our appreciation for having had a place to meet during the past three years.

Christi Circle of Women Report on Activities Corpus

Spring time came to our April 1 meeting in the form of two beautiful blooming begonia plants brought by Lil Hruska.

She must use Miracle Grow to produce such lush plants filled with blossoms.

The begonias and a pot of dark green curly parsley brought by Lillie Hayek put us all in the mood for a trip planned to Goliad on April 6 to view the wild flowers along the highways. As usual, Milly and Jerry Elzner are making arrangements for the excursion.

Our meeting was kept as brief as possible so that we could hear the reports of our travelers to the Czech Republic. One of the highlights of the trip was the World

Championship Ice Skating Event that they viewed from fifth row seats. Leona Matula gave a detailed report of their trip and the places they visited. The beautiful Czech language spoken by all of the little children really impressed her, since living in the United States, it's very seldom that you hear a child speak Czech.

Mary Ann Elzner spoke of the beauty that she observed upon looking out of the window early in the morning at Novy Jicin. It had snowed during the night, blanketing the city and creating a story book picture. Being from South Texas, we seldom see any snow, much less, enough to cover everything.

Della Elzner told of the wonderful hospitality and generosity of the Czech people. They were served drinks and delicious food everywhere that they visited. Knedle, zely a verpove is still a favorite meal even though McDonald's had invaded the Czech Republic. Jerry Elzner brought back a McDonald's menu that I found to be really amusing, especially the orange juice called pomeranCovy dzus. A pomeranc is an orange in Czech, but dius is as close as you can come in the Czech language to the word juice as pronounced in English.

Milly Elzner talked about a visit to the beauty shop that she and Della made during their stay and how the prices are a fraction of what they are here. If you are going to the Czech Republic, have your hair done after you get there. She also told us of a Czech cure for snoring. Just whistle and the other person stops snoring. Milly says that it works.

The group made a trip across the border into Poland for Milly's benefit, but it was a disappointment as most border towns are.

Jerry Elzner came to our meeting sporting a beautiful beaded black hat and a fancy vest made for him in Kjjov. He told us of their visit to Sokol Prenov and the wonderful reception held in their honor. He was presented with a certificate and they observed gym classes being held. It was ladies night and some of the gymnasts were as old as 72. Jerry also told us of their visit to a hat museum, glass factory and other places of interest.

It was quite a trip. Jerry gave each of us a Czech Easter post card, one prettier than the other.

After singing Happy Birthday to Georgia Ann Kubala, names were drawn for door prizes. We had nine prizes donated by Lil Hruska, Lillie Hayek, Kathy Marek, Pauline Novosad and Betty Jurica, and then Rice Krispie Treat Bunnies that I made given to the last eight names drawn. The ladies who won the main prizes were Norma Baker, Lillie Hayek, Lillian Coville, Pauline Novosad, Milly Elzner, Georgia Ann Kubala, Carrie Veselka, Ella Simcik and yours truly.

After a delicious luncheon, topped off with a buchta baked by Sophie Snapka and an Easter Bunny cake brought by Kathy Marek, the ladies settled down to making Easter baskets for rest home residents. Although I was unable to stay to help, I understand that close to 100 baskets were made. The ladies are to be thanked for all of the work and also for all of the candy, Easter grass, etc. that they donated. Betty Jurica will see to their distribution.

Our next meeting will be held on May 6. We hope to see Velma Malchar, who was ill and Sophie Snapka and Frances Kosarek at our May get together. Also, we hope that our two guests, Jerry Elzner and Jim Havranek join us again.

Mrs. Orsag was born in Lott to Alois Rabroker and Leona Wilde Rabroker. She was educated in Rosebud and lived in Zabcikville before moving to Temple 34 years ago. She married Jerome Orsag on August 22, 1959 and was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church and SPJST Lodge No. 47, Seaton.

Survivors include her husband, Jerome Orsag of Temple; a son, Ron Orsag of Temple; a daughter, Katherine Pechal of Rogers; her mother, Leona Rabroker of Zabcikville; a sister, Patricia Jedlicka of Bryan; and two granddaughters.

Brother Vitasek was owner and operator of B&L Flowers for 41 years and a lifelong resident of Fort Worth. He was a graduate of North Side High School, a member of the Fort Worth Florists Association, Diamond Oaks Country Club and SPJST Lodge No. 154.

The family received friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 5.

Funeral services were at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 6 at Shannon North Funeral Home. Dr. Charles Stewart officiated.

He is survived by a two daughters and son-in-laws, Melody and Larry J. Cleuser of Chicago, Illinois, Melissa and Brad Bartek of Forth Worth; a sister, Florence Marie Odom of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Mark and Caroline Cleuser and Lauren Melissa and Adair Lee Bartek.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

A long-time resident of Danbury, Brother Bennett moved to Danbury in 1951. He was a farmer and rancher and was a member of the Brazoria County Cattlemen Association and the South Texas Cattlemen Association, as well as the Brazoria County Fair Association and the Brazoria County Sheriff's Association.

Survivors include his wife, Eva Bennett of Danbury; father, Ed Bennett of Rosenberg; son and daughter-in-law, D. L. "Bubba" and Cynthia of Danbury; daughters and sons-in-law, Jackie and Jerry Kocurek of Danbury and Brenda and Mark Stephens of Danbury; brother, Earl Bennett of Red Rock; sisters, Leta Pearl Dixon of Rosenberg and Laverne Hassell of Alief. Also surviving are eight grandchildren.

We, the Resolution Committee of SPJST Lodge Slavonic Linden No. 66, Waco, on behalf of our membership, wish to express our deepest and sincere sympathy to the family of our departed brother, KEVIN C. KASIK, of Waco, Texas, who died on Monday, February 22, 1993 at the age of 16 years.

Prayer services were held on Wednesday, February 24, at 7:30 p.m. at Aderhold Funeral Home in West. Services were held on Thursday, February 25 at the West Brethren Church, with the Rev. Robert Holaday officiating. Burial took place at West Brethren Cemetery.

Kevin was a sophomore at La Vega High School where he was active in the band, football and tennis. He was also an active member of the West Brethren Church were he assisted with the summer Bible school program, sang in the choir and was a secretary of the Brethren Youth Fellowship group. He was a member of the SPJST since December 1976.

Brother Kevin is survived by his parents, John and Joan Kasik of Waco; three brothers, Brian, Jason and John Kasik, III; two sisters, Amanda and Mona Kasik, all of Waco; his maternal grandparents, Billy and Rosalie Bardovsky of Axtell; his paternal grandparents, John and Marguerite Kasik of Malone; and his paternal great-grandmother, Rose Freeman of Malone.

Funeral services for Brother Kovar were held Wednesday, March 10, at 2 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home. The Rev. Henry Beseda, a retired Brethren minister, and the Rev. Bruce Bergthold of the Evangelical united Church of Christ in Lyons officiated.

Burial was in the San Antonio Prairie Cemetery.

Brother Kovar was a lifelong resident of Burleson County. He was the son of John J. Sr. and Frances Simek Kovar and was a farmer and rancher. Mr. Kovar was a member of the Dime Box Brethren Church, SPJST Lodge No. 186 and RVOS Lodge No. 7.

Family members said that he loved to work in his garden and to share the produce with family and friends. He also loved to play dominoes, they said.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Liddie Kristof Kovar, in 1991. They were married in 1934.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny C. and Doris Kovar and Charlie J. and Fannie Kovar, all of Caldwell; two sisters, Fannie Luksa and Sidonia Trinka, both of Caldwell; and a special granddaughter, Marsha Kovar of Caldwell.

Youth Section Letters Lodge 47, Seaton Reports on Youth Activities Members of the Lodge 47 Youth Club want to extend a big "THANK YOU" to all who came out and supported us during our fund raiser. The Youth Club will be donating $250 to The Childrens' Wheelchair Fund of Temple. The fund is in dire need of money to purchase special wheelchairs for children who need them. Keep them in mind-for your next fund raiser. Again, thanks for your support!

Also, youth members, remember, April 16 is Family Night at 6 p.m. and we will be making Mother's Day crafts.

This night will also include a membership drive presentation. We will be having a speaker, covered dish meal and representatives on hand to talk about insurance. If you know of someone interested in becoming a member, please invite them.

The Youth Club will be attending the Taylor May Fete. So, parents, please remember that if your child is going, be at the hall at 2 p.m. We will provide rides there and back for those not staying for the meal or dance. If you child is staying, I need to know so arrangements can be made to get them home or if you will be picking them up. 66, Waco Youth Club Reports on February Meeting Lodge

Dear Readers and Members, The Lodge 66 Youth Club meeting was on February 21, 1993. We had 16 members, six adults and one visitor. Our visitor was Melissa Karlik.

The youth had a Valentine party on Sunday, February 14. We had a good group including youth, visitors and adults. All had fun dancing, playing cards and dominoes and eating lots of food.

The youth donated doughnuts for the SPJST State Taroky Tournament. We hope that everyone had a good time and enjoyed the day. Congratulations to all of the winners.

We have started working the kitchen for dances on Saturday nights. We realize that it will be hard work, but we are trying to help our lodge and make money for our Youth Club. The youth recently

bought a new can opener for the lodge.

The door prize winners were Jodi McAdams and Nathan Tierce. The birthday cake was brought by Amanda Neslony and the game by Sandra Trickett.

47, Seaton Youth Club Reports on April Meeting Lodge

Dear Vestnik Readers, The April meeting of the Lodge No. 47 was called to order by President James Kortis at 2:10 p.m. The flag was brought in by Kristen Klecka. The register was read. There were 30 members present and ten visitors.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Correspondence was read from Lodge No. 29, Taylor, inviting representatives to participate in their May Fete on May 2nd. The representative from Seaton will be Melanie Koslovsky. Lori Greger is going as District Two Queen.

Assistant Youth Leader Sharon Hejl gave her report. We wrote down on secret ballots where we would like to go on our summer trip. Our three choices were Fiesta Texas, Wet n' Wild and camping. We will decide by our next meeting.

Our fund raiser was great! We received "picnic pac" donations from the

Supreme Lodge. President Howard Leshikar also donated $20. Parents, thanks for your help. Our fund raiser would not have worked out without all of your help.

Mothers' Day is coming up. We will be working on Mothers' Day projects on April 16th during Family Night. We will be presenting them at the May meeting.

We are also planning to attend the Taylor May Fete. We will be leaving the hall at 2 p.m. and will be returning after

the May Fete.

Door prize for the April meeting were won by Jennifer Pechal and Daniel Gibson. Celebrating a birthday during the month was April and Randal Marek, Erin Skrabanek and Brooke Glaser.

The meeting was dismissed at 2:55 p.m.

Lodge 9, Snook Youth Club News in Photos Mrs. Dorothy See of Lodge 9 presented an interesting slide presentation of the Burleson County Exchange Club to Washington, D.C. and New York. Several of our Youth Club members were in attendance. The group toured Washington, D.C., New York, Niagara Falls and many other interesting sites.
