Lodge 15, Buckholts Hosts State "42 Domino Tournament New Tabor teams sweep first three places by State FAC Frank Klinkovsky It was history in the making at Lodge 15, Buckholts on Saturday, March 27 as teams from Lodge 17, New Tabor finished first, second and third in the Ninth Annual SPJST "42" Domino Tournament. A total of 52 enthusiastic players, representing 13 lodges from around the state, played in the tournament. District Two Director Willie Kohutek and District Seven Director Bob Bayer were also in, attendance. Lodge 15 President Gladys Allison and State FAC Frank Klinkovsky welcomed the players to the tournament, encouraging them to have a good day and to enjoy the fellowship. Following the first three games, the members of Lodge 15 served a delicious noon meal. This was followed by five more games. The top five teams then advanced to the playoffs. This is where it got exciting ... Following the playoff rounds, three teams from New Tabor were tied for first place and two teams were tied for fourth. It took three more games to determine places. Once the battle was over, the following teams emerged:
First Place Team Randy Gaas and Linda Gaas Lodge 17, New Tabor
Second Place Team Glen Paul and Donnie Pat, Lodge 17, New Tabor
Third Place Team C:rence Sefcik and Donnie Suehs Lodge 17, New Tabor
Fourth Place Team Johnny Kelarek and Garry Kelarek Lodge 24, Cyclone My sincere thanks to all those members who took the time to travel and play in the SPJST State "42" Domino Tournament. Fun and fraternalism was enjoyed by all players. A special thanks goes to the members and, especially, the kitchen crew from Lodge 15, for an outstanding job in hosting the tournament. Likewise, a big "thank you" is also in order for Gladys Allison and Irma Klinkovsky for their help with the tournament. Tournament players also express their thanks to Ruth Hanusch and Judy Andel, who came out to cheer their contestants and play in the tournament to make it an even number so that no teams would have to "sit out" during the preliminary games. We look forward to seeing all of you out at the tournament in 1994. Remember, next year's playoffs will be an "open" tournament and lodges will be able to send an unlimited number of teams to participate in play. —SPJST-

Randy and Linda Gaas of Lodge 17, New Tabor
Winning team shares more than a love or "42" Randy and Linda Gaas, members of Lodge 17, New Tabor, and winners of last Saturday's SPJST State "42" Tournament enjoy many of the same things. In addition to being husband and wife and top-notch players of "42," the couple also shares an intense interest in the game of tarok. In fact, it was through their regular attendance at SPJST tarok tournaments that the Randy and Linda Matula met, eventually dated and fell in love. When they decided to tie the knot last October 24, they planned their wedding theme around the game that brought them together—taroks.
Randy and Linda carried the tarok theme through the wedding and reception. The wedding hall was decorated with large versions of the 22 face, or trump, cards of the tarok deck. Table centerpieces included game chips and napkins featured images of the "Skeis" and "XXI" trump cards. Skeis and XXI were also prominently featured at the head table. The grooms cake also pictured six of the highest trump cards. "It was an unusual setting for a wonderfully nice couple," observes State FAC Frank Klinkovsky, adding that both Randy and Linda and their families are all longtime members of the SPJST.
Linda is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Laddie Matula of LaGrange, Texas, where Laddie also serves as president of the K.J.Z.T. lodge. Randy's parents are Edwin and Mavis Gaas and they live in the Caldwell area. Randy, as many of our younger members know, has also been active with the SPJST youth department for many years. --SPJST-
