A wonderful way to spend the day

Heritage days bring new life to old traditions Czech Heritage Day at Lodge 92 On September 12, members of Lodge 92, Fort Worth hosted their fourth annual Czech Heritage Day Celebration. The celebration, which seeks to preserve the traditions of the founding members of the lodge, attracted members, guests and performing groups from across the state. Some of the featured groups included the Dallas Beseda Dancers, the Country Boys from Ennis, the Polka Lovers Klub of America (P.O.L.K. of A), the Czech Dancers from West and the Texas Dutchmen from Houston. Brother Carl Zich gives a good report of this event elsewhere in this issue of the Vestnik. Caldwell Kolache Festival Although the Kolache Festival is officially coordinated by the Caldwell Chamber of Commerce, the September 12 celebration seemed more like an official Society function, attracting SPJST members and performing groups from across the state.

Some of the featured cultural groups included the New Tabor SPJST Youth Club Beseda Dancers, Seaton Beseda Dancers, Burleson County Czech Singers, the Czech Heritage Singers and Dancers of Houston, the East Bernard Czech Singers, the-Galveston County Czech Heritage Singers.

Bill and Bee Adami make the best of a good polka at the Lodge 92 Czech Heritage Day Celebration held September 12 at National Hall in Fort Worth.

Another rare musical and visual treat was the Radhost Music Ensemble and Polajka Singers on tour of Texas from Roznov, Moravia. What a wonderful way to spend the day. All that entertainment, fellowshipand—lest we forget—kolaches too. While on that subject, congratulations are in order for the Tallas Family, a 100 percent SPJST family out of Lodge 29, Taylor. For receiving four first place ribbons, Sister Carol Tallas earned the title of State Champion kolache baker. Son Chad also baked his way to two first place ribbons as did son Adam who received one first place ribbons for his efforts. "I had a good teacher," says Carol. Mother-in-law Frances Tallas was the 1991 Kolache Festival state champion.

District I Director Andrew Vavra, District I Youth Counselor Susan Skrabanek, an unidentified merry maker, and District II Director Willie Kohutek partake in the morning activities at Caldwell's Kolache Festival.

Angela Tompkins and Paxton Davies are no strangers to the National Hall dance floor. Members and guests of all ages enjoyed the entertainment.

The Radhost Music Ensemble and Polajka Singers on tour of Texas from Roznov, Moravia were among the many colorful and entertaining performers and groups featured at Caldwell's Kolache Festival.
