Cleburne Lodge Chartering Ceremony

Miss Texas American Coed DISTRICT III DIRECTOR and Board Chairman Sid Pokladnik installing officers of the newly-chartered Lodge No. 195. They are: Secretary-Treasurer O.D. Otte, Vice President and Reporter Christalene Giles, and President Linda Christine Otte. Director Pokladnik also presented some inspiring words to these officers and wished them much success in their new lodge.
Miss Stephanie Roye, 17-year-old daughter of Bobby and Anita Roye of El Campo, was named "Miss Texas American Coed" at the state pageant held June 6th and 7th in Dallas at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Ninety-three finalists competed for the state title and were judged on a written application,
including academic achievements, honors and awards, poise and appearance in evening gown, personal interviews with the five judges and poise and appearance during pre-interview presentations. Stephanie received a $1,000 cash scholarship, an official crown, banner, roses, and all-expense paid trip to Honolulu, Hawaii in August. There she will represent Texas in the National Miss American Coed Pageant where thousands of dollars in cash awards and scholarships will be awarded. In addition Stephanie won the Academic Achievement Award and received a trophy and a $500 cash scholarship. Stephanie, a 1992 graduate of El Campo High School, graduated 17th in her class of 179 with a 4.7865 grade point average. While in high school she was a member of the National Honor Society, French Club, Student Council, Speech/Drama, Marching and Concert Band, J.V. Cheerleader and Captain of the Derby Doll Drill Team. Stephanie also received first runnerup with her self-choreographed lyrical dance to "Bird on a Wire" in the optional talent competition. She was awarded a trophy and a $150 cash scholarship. State pageants are held nationwide and are open to girls between the ages (Continued On Page 4)
