-SPJSTOn this very day, February 29, 1992, the Supreme Lodge will host an annual local lodge officers' workshop with Secretary-Treasurer Leonard Mikeska being in charge of this year's workshop at Lodge No. 18, Elgin.

These workshops have been informative and beneficial in the past years for those who take their lodge duties seriously. ***

Saturday, January 11, your editor attended the SPJST By-Law Committee meeting at 1:30 p.m. in the Home Office at Temple as per the committee's request.

Our meeting with them was rather lengthy which mainly involved the Vestnik (Herald). This committee is also very diligently interested in forming our by-laws to be of the best possible outlined for the success and progress of our Society into the future.

The recession we are in has had its negative side on our insurance sales.

The committee wanted information pertaining to the Vestnik, of course, it is also a part of our overall operation.

In their first meeting, the sevenmember committee had asked for lists of incomes per year paid to the Supreme Lodge officers, editor, directors and employees. Shortly after their first meeting, yours truly, received a letter from Supreme Lodge Financial Secretary Jerry Mikulas asking for permission to divulge such information to the committee, where upon we certainly obliged.

This was somewhat a surprise, because Financial Secretary Mikulas submits all payments made to everyone employed by the Supreme Lodge to Internal Revenue Service (IRS) on W-2, W-2P, 1099 - Miscellaneous, etc. forms.

We understand some individuals objected to the requested income by the committee; if the IRS receives all this information, are we supposed to withhold this information from our own general membership?

It seems that some individuals thought this was "invasion of a person's privacy." This writer feels that-if someone is paid by an organization to perform certain things, it is no longer "private." The privacy applies only to one's private life and does not include one's work involved for an or-

1992 SPJST Age 96 Honorees In the fast changing world of today, we would like to honor certain SPJST members who hail from an era, though tumultuous, that, was in essence a time when events were taking place that would forever change our world.

We would like to thank these "pioneers" who helped establish the foundation for the freedom and democracy that we enjoy today. These members who we honor reach the GRAND AGE OF 96 in this year, 1992.

TABULATION: Tabulation of the convention contests will be conducted by 3 persons selected by the State Youth Director. Following each contest, the judges' results will be placed in a special envelope by the State Youth Director and sealed until opened by the Tabulation Committee and announced by the President of the Supreme Lodge. In case of a tie, only the speech portion would be repeated and rejudged, judging to be on Speech Content and Delivery only.

SPEECH TOPICS:

The 1992 Rules For Mr. and Miss SPJST Contest AGE: Any SPJST female/male member at least 18 and no older than 22, as of June 1, 1992.

MEMBERSHIP: A member of SPJST at least one year prior to lodge candidate selection.

ATTIRE - MALE: Dress clothes, including a coat and tie (NOT TUXEDOS).

PRIZES AND REIMBURSEMENTS: All finalist will each receive a wrist watch and an allowance of $300 for the period spent at the convention. In addition, each will be furnished a banquet ticket, plus tickets for not more than two chaperones. Mileage will be paid to the Victoria Convention site and return home for one vehicle at the rate set by the convention.

District VI will be hosting the XXVI SPJST Convention in Victoria, Texas in June 1992. Ads are being sold for a Convention Brochure to be given to some 300 delegates and visitors at the convention. We invite you to purchase an ad in this brochure.

We lost two members last month, namely: Brother Henry Matus and Sister Marie Rogers. We extend our sympathy to their families.

Brother George Straten gave the trustees' report. Easter meeting and party will be held April 5th. The next board of trustees' meeting will be January 31, 1992 with election of officers.

Youth Leader Willie Mae Schuetz reported that the youth took gifts to West Rest Haven. They collected pennies and sent them to Supreme Lodge.

On December 27 they took Christmas decorations down and cleaned the hail.

The T-shirt contest entries are due on January 31st. Celia Dobecka won first place in the West News coloring contest. A Valentine party will be held on February 14th. Birthday celebrants for

January are Melinda Kolar and Craig Hromadka.

Sister Schuetz sent sympathy cards to Arnold Thielke, Eugenia McWlorter and Henry Matus families. Get well cards were sent to Keith Hykel, Ruthie Sadler, Antonette Walls, John Sulak and Brian Mechell.

Those working at New Year's Eve dance were Georgie and Bill Skerik, Ruth Krizan and George Straten. On January 10, the membership will clean and mop the floor. towels. donated Kaska Hattie Thanks, Hattie.

Buckholts SPJST Lodge No. 15 of Buckholts held their regular monthly meeting Sunday, January 12 at 3:00 p.m. with President Gladys Allison presiding.

Pledge of Allegiance was recited by the members and we remained standing for a silent tribute in honored memory of our deceased members.

Special guest, at the meeting to install new officers for 1992, was District II Director Willie E. Kohutek and wife, Adeline.

The minutes from our previous meeting were read and approved.

Treasurer's report was given and approved. Bar and kitchen reports were given and also approved.

We have two members on the sick list, namely, Joe Zajicek and Leslie Sakewitz who is improving in therapy and will be able to return home around January 21st.

LODGE 20 YOUTH SINGING CHRISTMAS CAROLS. The Granger SPJST Lodge No. 20 held their Christmas party and annual meeting at the lodge hall. The meeting was called to order by President Leslie Loessin. Everyone was asked to rise to the pledge to the American flag. A moment of silence was held for Carol Jean Jones who passed away.

A motion was made to donate $10.00 to the 4-H Club. It was suggested that everyone present was asked to donate

to the "100 Pennies" Scholarship Fund.

Special recognition was given to Lisa Pape, Gilbert Strmiska, Georgie Strmiska and Dolly Hajda for making new drapes for our lodge hall.

Special recognition was also given to those who received their 50-year pins.

Our Christmas party was enjoyed by a large crowd. The youth club sang Christmas carols and everybody joined in. Santa Claus arrived and delivered packages to everyone.

A delicious supper of turkey and dressing plus a large variety of covered dishes was enjoyed by everyone.

Many received door prizes which were given away by the youth club.

Lodge Lodge No. 23, Moravia held their meeting and Christmas party on December 8, 1991 at the SPJST Lodge Hall.

The meeting was called to order by President Albert Olsovsky. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited and a moment of silence was observed for the departed members and for the departed of Pearl Harbor.

President Olsovsky recognized the four guests who were present, namely: District VI Director Matt Vanek; his wife, Henrietta, their grandson and Mrs. Helen Vanek Kalmus.

The minutes of our previous meeting were read and approved. The financial report was also given as was the report of our money-making project, which was held in October.

Under new business, President Olsovsky reported that if the tables were still available at the SPJST El Campo-Hillje Lodge Hall, they could be purchased for our lodge. The members were in favor of purchasing the tables.

Election of officers was held and the same officers were elected by acclamation.

President Albert Olsovsky was elected to represent our lodge as a delegate to the State Convention to be held in Victoria in June and Eddie Vrana was elected as an alternate delegate.

A motion was made to purchase a one-fourth page ad in the brochure for the upcoming convention.

Members were informed that our lodge will host the District VI spring meeting, which will be held on March 22, 1992 at the Parish Dining Hall.

Plans will be finalized at our next meeting which will be on March 10th.

President Olsovsky then turned the meeting over to District Director Matt Vanek. He stated he was very happy to see the improvements in our lodge hall, then he spoke about the State Convention, the program and activities at the convention, also invited all members to attend. He spoke about the sale of insurance policies and the scholarship program and presented our lodge with a book entitled "A History of the SPJST" from 1897 to 1980. He also presented the 50-year membership pins to Adolph Heiman and Hilda Heiman.

As part of the Christmas party, door prizes were given; the lucky winners were Kathy Guenter, Albert Olsovsky, Hilda Heiman, Alvin Hanslik and Viola Kutac. Then refreshments were served and luncheon followed.

Members, please remember that the District VI meeting will be held here at Moravia on March 22nd. Every member is welcome just as every member is welcome at our local meetings. See you at our next meeting and also at the District VI meeting.

She announced the Friday social night will include a Progressive 42 Tournament with a cost of $2/person. The kitchen will open at 6:30 p.m. and play will at 7:00 p.m.

Sister Ruth urged members to turn in FAC reports no later than January 8th.

All chairpersons' reports were listened to attentively.

Youth Leader Patsy Koslovsky reported 32 members, 1 visitor and 2

adults present. She announced the annual youth club fund-raiser -- chili supper/auction to be held February 21st.

Lodge No. 88, Houston News We've had a lot of tragedy in our Lodge 88 and the Birthday Club. Josephine Buri, a devote Birthday Club member and a sister to Della Kadlecek, lost her husband on Christmas Day at Northwest Memorial Hospital in Houston.

Funeral services were held at Waltrip Funeral Home with burial at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.

Fred, in staying with his Czech Heritage, loved to dance and attend the functions at the SPJST. It is here at Praha, Texas, Fred and Josephine were married in 1938 and resided in Denver Harbor throughout their 53 years of marriage.

In his younger days Fred and his father operated Buri Machine Shop until 1962 when Fred formed his own company: South Texas Machine Tool Repair. Fred retired in 1977 giving him a chance to fulfill his dream of visiting Europe. He traveled to Czechoslovakia when he found his cousin for the first time.

In his recent years, he held close his love for the Czech music. He listened to his favorite polka music on the radio and tapes, and enjoyed his only son's, Fred Charles, singing so very much. Fred Jr. used to sing with Helen Hegwood at our special functions. He was so very fond of his grandson, John, who could play the accordian ;lost beautifully.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Josephine; his son, Fred Charles Buri; his grandson, John, and a lovely daughter-in-law, Jo Ann Buri.

On Saturday night, January 11, 1992 one of our favorite orchestras from up East, Eddie Skeets played at Lodge 88, and it turned out to be a well attended dance. Everyone had a most enjoyable time. I hope that he will again play this year, and that I will be able to attend this time.

On February 1, 1992 Guy Lombardo's Royal Canadians with Al Pierson will play; on February 8 - Jack Melick, "The Piano Man" will play; these two bands are DRESS CODE dances.

Dear Members and Friends: I hope all of you had a nice and safe New Year, but since the first of the year there has been and still is a lot of flu and something that keeps you coughing. This is over the state so let's hope the colder weather will move in and clear the air. This mild winter may have something to do with this climate. About all we had here were a few heavy frosts that looks like snow in the early morning. Now, there is a cold wave headed our way so let's get out our heavy coats. Some snowflakes fell early today. It seems as though the time the Fort Worth Stock Show is about to start, it gets cold.

Our first meeting of January 12, 1992 was well attended by 44 members and 2 guests. The youth club also had several members and visitors so it looks like the year started out good.

The youth club always leads in the pledge and than our Secretary Christine Zich reads the Resolutions of our members who passed away recently.

All members present stand for a few moments in respect to them, then the officers give their reports. The secretary reads the minutes of our last meeting and, if any corrections, she corrects them. I hate to brag but she does real good. Brother Al Kercho, our new treasurer, gives the amount of money the lodge has in the bank. Evelyn Spacek gives the report of lodge dues' collections and also some had to cash in their policies. This we don't like to hear, however, in some cases one may need some money for a while, they don't cash in the policy to leave the lodge or our organization. Brother Paprska gives a report on what the trustees are doing to keep the building in fine shape. We try to do what needs to be done. Other legal items come up so it's up to the trustees and president to take care of the items. Of course, the main item is the food after our meetings. Someone is selected or a volunteer speaks up. We always have

plenty of desserts brought by the ladies, which we appreciate. We cannot thank all of you ladies for this, but it's really wonderful.

Now for a few lines of sad news that is never good to hear. Brother Joe Tabor passed away ecember 30, 1991. Sister Anna Hosek died November 24, 1991 in a Dallas rest home. We didn't hear about it until later, so none of us were able to attend the funeral.

Anna Hosek was the wife of the late Louis Hosek who was the Vestnik editor a few years ago. To the two families of the deceased members, we send our condolences.

We also had several members in the hospitals and most of them are at home and hope they are feeling much better, namely, Albert Kubala, Helen Kubala, Anne Zurovetz, Clem Oujesky, Jon Durham, Dick Durham, Frank Prochaska and Bennie Bartek who may have had a slight stroke when she fell and broke her hip. She is about 96 years of age, so she will be outliving her life insurance policy February 2, 1992. She is one of the few who has lived to receive her full amount of her policy before death. We are planning to have something for her in February, so let's hope she gets well soon. If someone would like to visit her or send a card to the nursing home, her address is: River Oaks Care Center, 4216 N.W. 18th Street, Fort Worth, Texas 76106 - Room No. 9.

Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Rusty Kratky on the adoption of a baby boy. Grandmother is Neva Joe Kratky Timms.

It was a surprise to receive a few cards from one of our members, Millie Jo Waters, who lives and works in Germany. She also receives the Vestnik and says she keeps up with our lodge as well as the members. Millie Jo, thank you very much and when you come back to the states be sure to visit

After the call to order by President Lonnie Lostak, young Wesley Baldwin led the January 8, 1992 meeting of Lodge No. 139 in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.

Minutes were read by Secretary Lorenda Baldwin and were approved as read. Treasurer Eloise Lostak gave the treasurer's report.

Correspondence was read by Vice President Monte Baldwin. It was an-

nounced the lodge had received several thank you notes from members expressing gratitude for the Christmas turkeys given to those 70 years of age and older. Thirty-five turkeys were delivered to the eligible recipients.

Plans were discussed to have barbecue for members this year. March 21 was chosen for the date of the dinner.

There will be door prizes with members having to be present to be eligible. Additional plans will be coordinated at the February meeting.

After adjournment, a social was held with lots of delicious food which was enjoyed by all.

Our Christmas program that was put on by our youth club was very nice.

Thanks to all the children for being on the program because it makes our Christmas joyful. Some of us older members had a chance to perform on the stage in "Twelve Days Before Christmas." This really put us all in a laughing mood. I didn't see anyone from the talent scout from Hollywood looking for us. (auw shucks); it was lots of fun anyway.

Lodge No. 92 didn't do too well at the Taroky Tournament held at Lodge No. 47 in Seaton; only two were winners, Henry Kubala and Joella Kubala.

I hated to miss it but next time will try to go.

After the meeting Mary Ann, Kenneth and Corina served hot dogs with chili, cheese, beans, potato chips and a wonderful fruit salad.

Christmas, get well and sympathy cards sent.

Sisters Anna Johnson, Rose Steinman, Mary Pavey and Bessie Brezina stopped to join Sister Lydia Alholm and went to visit Sister Frances Tirk in the rest home at Grape iine. It was such a pleasant visit. She knew all of us and was surprised to get a print from Sister Henrietta Milan. She looked so good. Then Sister Lydia Alholm treated all of us to a lunch at the cafeteria -- a wonderful day.

Brother Trey and Sister Amy Steinman arrived home safely after a Christmas celebration in England and Ireland with the "Dorothy Shaw Bell Choir.

They reported a wonderful time.

Brother Rome, Sister Mila and young member Paris Milan spent 10 days in Canada for Christmas visiting Paris' grandparents Vlasta and Jan Waldauf and great-grandmother Marie Trichoped, and Paris didn't come home spoiled. We have the travelers -- Sister Marilyn Milan spent a week fishing in Key West, Florida and then skiing in Taos, New Mexico, and now she and Sister Carolyn Cleveland are in Denver, Colorado for a market showing and Tuesday, Marilyn leaves for a business trip to Chicago. Sister Sherri Mason just returned from a nice short visit with friends in Denver and she and Sister Jeanie Mason depart Thursday for New Zealand. Have a safe trip!

Brother Tal Milan turned out to be a TV celebrity, so many reported seeing him off and on while working at the Salvation Army for "Tots for Toys."

We extend our get well wishes to Jewel Clark (Granny as she is known to all of us) who is in the hospital after having surgery. She is the mother of Sister Carrie Milan, and to Brother Emil Milan who is now home recuperating after another angioplastic operation. Get well soon!

Brother B.J. Cleveland is directing the "Pumy Boys and the Dinettes" who were such a success in 1989, will be in the new home of Theatre Arlington.

Lodge 154 wants to thank Burleson Lodge 180 for the wonderful Christmas party they hosted. It was enjoyed by all.

Our New Year's Eve dance was well attended and got a lot of compliments on how beautiful the hall looked. Everyone had a good time and Sister Jeanie Mason's black-eyed peas and cornbread were enjoyed by all. Even though she had been sick, she got out to do her cooking and to be with us.

Sister Mary Pavey was the door prize winner and she, in turn, donated it to the lodge.

The meeting adjourned to calories and refreshments.

We have had so many ill with all this going around and hope you all get well soon.

I just heard that Sister Elizabeth Harlow's son-in-law Jimmy Skidmore of Graham, Texas lost his arm in a freak accident and hope that our thoughts and prayers will help.

Congratulations to Brother Kirk Stoeppelman who just got the news, starting tomorrow, he will be manager of Steak and Ale in Duncanville. He started out as a waiter and has been going up every since. Good luck, Kirk!

The Academy Lodge No. 177 meeting was called to order January 8, 1992 by President Otis Beck and the pledge was recited by the members.

The members remained standing in a moment of silent prayer for the loss of our member, Rudolph Dubec.

All officers were present and all reports were read and approved as read.

A motion was made and seconded to purchase an ad from the Temple Daily Telegram for the HONOR ROLL OF BUSINESSES. Eric Tomastik on behalf of the Junior Class of Academy High School asked for the use of the hall on May 8 for their Junior Prom. Motion was made and seconded that we allow the juniors to use the hall for their prom provided they have proper chaperones.

Youth Leader Kathy Fritz reported that the youth members are having a skating party at Skate Haven on February 16, 1992 from 5:15 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.

During the meeting, we were informed that Billy Joe Moore's wife had died. We express our sympathy to the bereaved family.

Libby Bartek reported that a sympathy card was mailed to Mary Dubec and a get well card to Carrie Driska.

Also, a thank you card was mailed to Vernie May for the use of the barbecue pit that was used to cook steaks for our Christmas party.

Eight new members were reported as written during the month of December.

They are Edward R. Bartek, Jay Scott Fischer, Corine H. Mauldin, Mary Ramos, Rebecca Ramos, Henry C. Ramos Jr., Ryan M. Romero and Katie Sue Mayes. Also, we had one transfer, Martha Turner. We wish to welcome these new members to our lodge.

This is a great way to start the new year. Anyone who knows of an insurance prospect, please notify one of the sales representatives or our president.

FAC J.C. Johnson asked the members to turn in their fraternal activities report for the year and urged all members to keep records of their activities for this year. We only had one birthday during the month of January.

Louis Driska reported that his wife, Jean is to have an eye surgery. Our prayers will be with both of you.

88 Birthday Club News

The Birthday Club met on January 8, 1992 in the lodge dining room. In spite of the miserable weather we had a splendid crowd. President Lowrina Lindemann opened the meeting at 11:15 a.m. with a roll call. It seemed we were all ready to get out and visit after all the rains and so many of our dear sisters had deaths in their families at Christmas. All of us shed tears for these sad occasions, because four of our active members died Christmas week and they will be missed.

Secretary Rita Alexander read the minutes which were approved. She also read communications from the Fred Buri family, also from Alma and Emmitt McNaspy.

Lillie Spies, our financial chairman, gave the report for 1991 which was well presented and to the point. We have 46 members.

President Lowrina asked we stand for a silent prayer for those who passed away.

Mary Kosut, our sunshine lady, was again re-appointed to this position for 1992. Mary gave a good report for 1991 and she's our chaplain, too. Her job is well done!

Our sick ladies are Birdie Pech in Poly Ryon Hospital in Richmond, Gladys Pulley has been real ill and in the hospital, but is improving now and hopes to be home soon; Annie Vala is in the Northwest Memorial Hospital.

We miss Annie a great deal and hope she'll be about soon. Sylvia Melia has been ill with internal problems, but is recovering.

Our dear friends Minnie and Frank Kratky live in Weimar, formerly from here; Frank is in the hospital, too.

President Lowrina announced the Telephone Committee for 1992 and they are Chairman Bessie Dewer, Margaret Bohac, Juanita Simons and Willie Mae Ermis. They were told to be sure and get in touch with each member; also, don't forget to pick up your dishes in the office.

On Sunday, February 9 is our annual anniversary of Lodge No. 88. The menu is baked chicken, rice and gravy, green beans, and the Birthday Club has the party booth again with Lillie Spies in charge.

Our deceased Della Kadlecek was selected as fraternalist of the year 1991 by the Supreme Lodge. We all know she deserved it.

The drawing for the Calcutta game was: 1st -- Willie Mae Ermis, 2nd-Alma McNaspy.

The Birthday Club sisters for January are Marie Pokluda, Margaret Bohac and Ima Lero. "Happy Birthday" was sung to them.

Ennis Sewing Circle Now that the holidays are over, nationwide, we face a new year with grim happenings. Let us all have great faith believing that 1992 will be a much better year for everyone.

Our Circle met December 12 at the Sokol Activities Center. We had a very good attendance.

President Sadie Kubin called the meeting to order. She welcomed members and guests. Our guests were Kveta Bartak, Janice Landsfeld, Dorothy Prachyl, Jonathan Hubacek, Julius Podhrasky, Joe Kudrna, Bill Foit, Joe Vlk, Jerry Kohn, Wesley Tupy, Bob Zvolanek and Joe Houdek.

The minutes were read and approved as read. The treasurer's financial report was given and approved as given.

Sunshine Stacie Hejny sent Christmas greetings to the following sisters who are unable to attend our meetings; Mary Vrla, Mary Patak, Helen Vrla, Annie Kostak, Lillie Hejny, Frances Vita, Leona Jurica, Hattie Lekar, Agnes Janecka, Mary Kopecek, Annie Jaska, Bettie Houdek and Bettie Marusak. We miss our dear sisters and hope they can come to a meeting if possible.

The Circle purchased a nice coffeemaker, which has already been put to use.

"Happy Birthday" was sung to December birthday celebrants. We sang "Happy Birthday" to Sister Alene Skrivanek, whose birthday is not until January. Her daughter, Janice Landsfeld, surprised her with a lovely birthday cake, which Alene shared with everyone. Her daughter did this in December because we do not have a meeting in January. After the luncheon, we had our Christmas party.

Sister Adel! Vlk read "T" Was The Night Before Christmas" in Czech and Sister Georgia Tupy read "Story of the Candy Cane." Gifts were exchanged.

The Circle presented each officer and committee chairperson a monetary gift. Sister Alice Roberts gave Sister Libbie Wisniewski an ornament for her tree. Libbie does a good job in the kitchen. Christmas decorations were furnished by Sisters Georgia Tupy, Alice Roberts, Georgia Zabojnik and Libbie Wisniewski. The ham furnished by the Circle was delicious and the food brought by the sisters was superb.

We have very good cooks.

Sister Frances Kudrna visited New York City. The highlight of her trip was to visit Ellis Island. Sister Hattie Moucka and friends visited Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ellevan in Salinas, California. Sisters Mary Sebestik and Alice Roberts took a bus trip to Natchitoches, Louisiana. We learned the correct pronounciation of that city.

This is the way I remembered to say it correctly: Neck-o-dish. Say it fast. The Christmas lights along the Cane River and the plantations were beautiful. It is a trip worth taking.

We will NOT have a meeting in January. Our next meeting will be February 13th. I hope to see you then. Stay well and keep warm.

Czech In Czechoslovakia Study

If you are interested in studying Czech in Czechoslovakia, now is the time to apply for the summer program offered by the Czechoslovak Foreign Institute. The summer study program begins on July 6 and ends on July 31.

The Czech warmer study ;program will be in Praha, Czechoslovakia.

Agricultural School at Suchdol in northwestern Praha. Housing, classes, and food service will all be on the campus of Suchdol.

Class size will be limited to ten per class so that individual attention may be given to each participant. Professors for the classes will be from Charles University of Praha and other instructional programs.

Two types of programs will be offered this year. A study travel program for those who want to take tours as well as study Czech. And for those who want to only study Czech with no tours, a program is also planned.

Alief Evening School under auspices of AISD (Alief Independent School District) is again offering a Conversational Czech course in southwestern Houston at Hastings High School. The location of this school is between Bellaire Blvd. in the south and AliefClodine in the north on the southwest side of the intersection of Cook Rd. and High Star Drive in the community of Alief. The first lesson of this now announced 12-week course, designed to develop basic skill in the Czech language wherever it is spoken, will be on Wednesday, February 5th and henceforth once a week on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuition, set by the school, will be $43.00 and the instructor will be John J. Lodge 6, Cottonwood Youth Club Activities Dear Members and Friends, The youth club meeting was held January 5, 1992 at 2:30 p.m. with a good attendance.

The T-Shirt Design Contest is due January 31, so be sure and work on the shirts and send them to State Youth Director Joni Lange in Temple.

On February 14, the youth club will have their Valentine party with games and goodies. All youth and adult members are invited.

Our youth planned a bowling party on January 26, so let me know who is going. I would like to know how many and where to meet.

A beautiful Czech Christmas tree was decorated by Henrietta Cervenka. for good luck and the fruit for prosperity and good health.

These are the kind of traditions that need to be brought back in to practice and recorded so our future generations may know of our past heritage. We are also interested in old sayings, phrases and slang words that your relatives used including the ones in your family.

If you have any old photos that you cannot identify, this is the place to bring them. Someone might know them or else try to help you find the right person to identify them. We would like you to join us. The local dues are just $2.50. If you wish to belong to the State Chapter, the dues are $5.00 which you will be sent a newsletter that is published 4 times a year plus a roster sheet of all members.

This newsletter has songs, phrases, letters submitted by members from other chapters. The roster sheet is very helpful in locating someone when you are doing genealogy; there are surnames listed.
