They estimated that the average man of 70 years has spent --20 years working 20 years sleeping 7 years taking in movies and other amusements 7 years in walking and outdoor sports 5 years shaving and dressing 3 years waiting for someone to arrive 2 1/2 years eating 2 1/2 years smoking 2 years playing cards and other games 1 year on the telephone ***

How to coax an idea into existence.

How do you bring a new idea into being? What steps can you take to reweave your knowledge and experience into fresh ideas and solutions? Here are some suggestions: 1) Identify your target. Unless you know exactly what the problem is, you can hardly hope to solve it.

2) Get all the facts. Gather all the pertinent information you can, including unsuccessful attempts to cope with the problem.

3) Try the obvious. You may have to look no further.

4) Let your imagination soar. Logic and caution have no place in the creation of a fresh idea.

5) Think about it intensely. Stick to it until you solve it or reach the limits of your "frustration tolerance."

6) Then forget it. If you have conscientiously taken steps one through five, your subconscious will take over at this point.

Reaching out and touching someone has just become a little less risky -- with 900 numbers, at least. Starting this week, 900 numbers must state the per-minute price in a message and give callers a chance to hang up before the clock starts, unlesS the call costs less than a flat rate of $2.00. The Federal Communications Commission decided to protect callers against shady 900 numbers after it received some 2,800 complaints in the past year. As of this week, the FCC also requires 900 lines marketed to children to begin messages by warning kids that they should hang up if they don't have their parents' permission to call. Parents who want to prevent their children from running up massive 900-number bills altogether are in luck; the FCC now requires most phone companies to provide a free service that blocks calls from home phones to 900 lines. Previously, some phone companies charged up to $21 for the service.

Consumer advocates urge callers to be wary of any 900 service with a garbled or inaudible preamble and to call the phone company if they feel they have been overcharged for a call.

Phone companies can no longer cancel service for customers who fail to pay outrageously high 900-number bills.

But phone officials are not prohibited from sending out the bill collectors, either. ***

The Slavonic Benevolent Order of the State of Texas (SPJST) has been contributing funds for the ongoing Czech Program at Alvin Community College since the early 1970s. Yearly, a representative from SPJST has been on the ACC campus to personally present a check to the head of the ACC Continuing Education Department.

For many years now, Mr. Louis Hanus has represented the Supreme Lodge, SPJST and made the presentations at ACC. These funds have increased considerably over the years and are used to promote the Czech heritage in Texas by providing instruction in the language and culture. Students have been privileged to have instructors who are actually of Czech descent, many of whom are actually from Czechoslovakia.

Students learn more than conversational language skills, as each instructor brings to the class his own unique experience and background. They learn about Czech music, dress, government, religion, recreation, geography, and customs. Sometimes they even dress in Czech costume and sell kolaches at various college activities, as well as have social functions for class members. Some of the students are from Czech lineage, and their families are interested in keeping enthusiasm and interest in their rich heritage alive among the younger generations.

Others are not Czech, but find the classes very interesting.

Conversational Czech is offered by Alvin Community College through the non-credit program each spring and fall semester. The current instructor is Mr. : ernard Pivonka, who is origi nally from Czechoslovakia. Spring class for 1992 will be at Pearland High School, an ACC satellite campus, and will be Intermediate Czech. This course is a continuation of Beginner Conversational Czech. Call 388-4680 for information regarding registration, class dates, and tuition.

Lodge No. 18, Elgin Installs 1992 Giiluci SPJST Lodge No. 18 held its December meeting on the 17th with Dale Kessel presiding.

Minutes of the November meeting were read by Secretary Gilbert Kubicek and approved. All other reports were given, and were very favorable.

It's been a while since we had a newsletter from our lodge in the Vestnik -- 1991 has been a good year for us. We have had many anniversary and wedding receptions this past year.

Also many good polka dances. We try to bring in the best bands. We think we have one of the better dance floors in this area. When you come to Lodge No. 18, you will be greeted with a smile and when you leave we will thank you for coming. We want you to feel welcomed when you visit us.

Our hall is decorated so pretty for the holidays. Thanks to Irene Helgren, house lady, and her helpers. It is simply beautiful. Come see!

We have had five or six active members in the hospital in November and December. We wish them all a speedy recovery. Thanks to all the other active members for carrying on the work of the lodge, while so many are sick.

We have had two fish fries during the year for our workers and the active members -- about 125 brothers and sisters attended. Thanks for a job well done!

24, Cyclone Initiates Candlelight Memorial Lodge

Dear Readers: You can read all day long about fellowship, togetherness and community spirit, but none of that really means very much, unless you take the time to experience it for yourself. The Lodge No. 24, Cyclone Christmas Party held on December 8, gave all of us who attended, the chance to know that special feeling of being a part of the community and a part of the SPJST. More than 150 members attended the event which included plenty of time for renewing old acquaintances, an entertaining Youth Club program and a mouth-watering feast of smoked turkey, dressing---and about 50 side dishes and as many desserts. Put it this way: It was one of those terrific holiday layouts that make you wish paper plates came equipped with sideboards...Hats off to Herman and Arlene Mayeux for prepping the turkey, Margaret Mikeska for the dressing, and to everyone who contributed to the Jam "" V.I'lrne youth program, a canwelight memorial ceremony honored lodge members who passed away during 1991. The Rev. Allen Newby, pastor of the Seaton Brethren Church, led the moving tribute to the following members: Clayton Cabla, Milton Dornhoefer, Leveda Geistman, L.B. Haisler, Rudolph Marek, Olga Martinet, Henrieth Matous, Maurine Necas, Elenora Roll, Frances Ruzicka, Bertha Schiller, Ernest Schiller, Edwin Simmank and Matilda Sodek. Many thanks to those family members who attended---and in particular, to the relatives of Edwin Simmank---who came in from Fort Worth for the ceremony.

Finally, special thanks to Youth Leader Shirley Ashcraft and her team--the young people---for helping to make this year's program a special one. In addition to their work on the program, the group collected approximately 140 canned and boxed food items for the Temple Help Center for distribution to area families.

Our next meeting, including the installation of new officers, will be January 13 at 7:00 p.m. Please make plans to attend.

Dear Members: Here it is a new year and time, again, for monthly meeting. Lodge Karel Jonas will hold its first meeting in 1992 on Sunday, January 5 at 2:00 p.m., in the meeting room at 106 Leveridge Street which is on the first floor of the SPJST Hall building. The agenda will be open for the most part.

There will be a fraternal hour with buffet luncheon after the business meeting adjourns.

On Sunday, December 1st, the lodge

held its monthly meeting which was also its annual meeting. A quorum was present. Several motions were made and passed. One of these motions was to donate to the local Volunteer EMS Unit, local Volunteer Fire Department and S.P.J.S.T. Rest Home No. II in Needville.

Since the delegates were elected in the November meeting, the only elections that had to be held were those of the officers of our lodge and board of trustees. On December 8 at 2:00 p.m., President Harold Rohde called the meeting to order.

Secretary Glen Latham read the minutes for the November meeting and they were approved as read.

The members voted to donate $100.00 to the SPJST Scholarship Fund in memory of Brother Joe Barabas, Jr. The next order of business was the election of lodge officers for 1992.

Those elected were: Harold Rohde--president Robert Marwitz--vice president Glen Latham--secretary/treasurer Glenda Liles--financial secretary Wayne Hanusch--youth leader Delegates to the XXV! Convention are Rick Benner, Jo Ann Benner and Frankie Pajestka, Jr. After the elections, SFM Gene McBride, who was present at the meeting, gave the members a short speech.

Sales representatives present were Rick Benner, D.I. Bohac, Glenda Liles and Dan Grossman.

Birthday celebrants for December were D.I. Bohac, Otto Horelica, Frankie Pajestka, Jr., Robert Marwitz and Isable Kunz.

News

The meeting of SPJST Lodge 88 was called to order at 10:00 a.m., December 8, 1991, by President Jerome Ermis. Flag Bearers Darlene Migl, Marlene Migl, and Michelle Linney presented the colors and led the membership in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Secretary Mildred Holeman reported no deaths for the past month. A roll call revealed all officers were present except FAC Homer Alexander and Legal Advisor Richard Schnell. The minutes of the November meeting were read and approved. Correspondence was read and upon motion carried, ten new applicants were accepted into membership.

Secretary-Treasurer Shirley Stonaker gave the financial report for November.

Youth Leader Barbara Linney reported that the youth would be presenting their skit on December 13 at 7:30 p.m. Santa would also be passing out presents and there would be refreshments after the program. The youth would be joining the Choral Group in singing Christmas carols. Exciting plans are being formulated, and all children are invited to join the Youth Club.

Birthday Club President Lowrina Lindemann reported the covered dish luncheon at 11:00 a.m. on December 9, and stated an annual report would be given in January. All members are invited to attend the luncheons -- they

really put on a good "feed" plus door prizes.

Board Chairman Karl Lindemann thanked Margaret Allbritton and Clara Broz for doing all their hard work, but had no official report.

Auditing Committee Chairman Tom Marsh reported the books for the month of November were audited together with the two accounts from the previous month, and all were found to be in order. He moved they be accepted and motion carried.

Gene Barcak reported the Choral Group would be rehearsing every Tuesday, and would be performing at the Youth Christmas Program on the 13th and at the S.P.J.S.T. Rest Home in Needville on the 14th.

Benevolence Reporter Mary Kosut reported September, October and November -- many hours of volunteer work are performed by members and Mary does a good job of recording this information.

Della Kadlecek, Sylvia Melia, and Henry Knapick were reported on the sick list.

Brother William Souchek thanked the lodge for its support, and in view of all the calls he had received, he would again attempt to teach another 10-week Czech Class, beginning January 20th.

Helen Hegwood gave her insurance report and awarded a check from the SL to Tillie Helmcamp for the most earned premium in November.

She reported 136 in the monthly meeting and led the members in singing "Happy Birthday" to the December celebrants. Tim and Rosalee Kostom and Tom and Lydia Marsh were two of the anniversary celebrants and were the refreshment donors for the day.

Door prizes were drawn and the meeting adjourned at 10:50 a.m. The annual meeting began promptly thereafter and Chairman Bobby Miksch of the Rules and Regulations Committee presented four proposed changes. All proposals were defeated.

Tillie Helmcamp was the author and Naomi Spencer was the director. We all hoped that there would be talent scout out in the audience, but to no avail. Even so we really enjoyed doing it.

The January meeting will be on January 13 at 7:30 p.m. Plan your calendar to attend these meetings. Every member is important and you will enjoy the fellowship of your fraternal brothers and sisters.

"FRATERNAL SOCIETY (n.) A society organized for the pursuit of some common object by working together in brotherly union." embers of Lodge 130 have certainly had the occasion to experience the true meaning of fraternalism in the past few months. Lodge 84 has shown us a true fraternal spirit by displaying genuine brotherhood in helping us with our recent needs. In addition to meeting at their lodge, we were cordially invited to share their Christmas party, even to the extent of providing "goodies" from Santa Claus for our young children. The food, fellowship and festivities were sincerely appreciated, Lodge 84, and we all thank you.

Our December meeting was held on the 10th at Lodge 84, 2625 Floyd Street. We had as our guest, Brother Sid Pokladnik. Announced was new member Jennifer Richards. The minutes, treasurer's report and financial secretary's report were accepted as presented.

Beseda Director Sister Martha Vrla thanked all who journeyed to San Angelo for our annual performances at Christmas at Fort Concho. As in all past years, we were very well accepted.

Youth Leader Sister Suzanne Vrla reported that the youth were still collecting aluminum cans. The club was excited about being invited to the Lodge 84 Christmas party.

At the Fraternal Council meeting, 178 food items were collected and donated to the Brady Center and Salvation Army, along with $58.00 cash.

Lodge 130 Director Brother Gene Parma will attend the directors' meeting on January 13th.

Motion was made and seconded that Lodge 130 request that we meet on the same day that Lodge 84 does, thus eliminating the necessity of someone opening and closing the building on our meeting night. Brother Parma attended the Lodge 84 meeting and made a formal request to this effect.

Lodge 84 voted to honor our request, so members, please make a note that in the future our meetings will be held on the third Monday of the month in the Teen Room at Lodge 84, 2625 Floyd Street.

Sunshine Committee had no report, so hopefully the "flubug" has not found any of our members.

In discussing our booth at the International Days festivities in Dallas, Brother Vrla suggested that the size of our booth be doubled. The suggestion went to the Steering Committee for discussion.

After the meeting, the ladies prepared a delicious "covered dish" supper which we all enjoyed. The Christmas toys that were collected by Suzanne were then donated to the East Dallas Store Front and Bryan House.

Dear Members and Friends: Are you as wet as we are? We needed it, but not a flood.

It's amazing, in spite of all the rain, we had a large turnout for our Christmas party last night. Everyone was in good spirits. We were honored to have our District III youth counselor, State Youth Director Sister Joni Lange and her daughters, in our midst. It was a pleasure to get to meet her, and she certainly wasn't a stranger; so pleasant and easy to know.

After the program the children welcomed Santa Claus which is always the highlight of the night. After the gifts, all were given fruit and candy bags, followed by goodies galore and punch.

A special thanks to Santa Claus. We are fortunate to have the same Santa the last few years. Pictures were taken

with him, that caused a lot of excitement. We were thanked by many for doing this for the youngsters.

We hope you all had a wonderful holiday and that all travelers arrived home safely.

Now we are getting ready for 1992; that's unbelievable!

Sister Sherri Mason came in last week from New Zealand to visit her mother, Sister Jeanie Mason and family. Sherri will be here until January 16 and plans on taking her mother back with her to see their beautiful country.

Brother Jerry and Sister Henrietta Milan took a quick trip to Chicago, where Brother Jerry attended a meet, ing.

Sister Billie Jo Mason just returned from a week in San Diego, California, she reported a wonderful time.

We were sorry to hear Sister Maria Frill was back in the hospital for a few days and now recuperationg at home; her daughter, Sister Eva Dockey and husband Virgil from Arizona have

Roll call of officers revealed that all were present.

Libbie Bartek sent a get well card to John Dorsey.

The minutes for October and November were read by Secretary Kathy Fritz and she did an outstanding job. The members responded by giving her a well deserved hand.

A thank you was received from Marty Knight -- Senior Citizens business manager for the $250.00 donation for Thanksgiving meal. This was donated from the Game Night Fund.

Also, a request from Ralph Wilson Soccer Team asking for sponsorship.

Our lodge donated $150.00. President Beck said this would also come from the Game Night Fund.

All chairpersons' reports were given.

Board of trustees' report was discussed and asked Rules and Regulations Committee to change rules on a trail basis for six months to allow hats in our lodge.

Four new members were voted into our lodge, namely, Clifford and Beatrice Cawthon, Dorman Hunter and Daren Lee Smith.

We had a good turnout for our Christmas supper and the meal was delicious. Harvey La Flamne and Bobby Fritz did the honors of the steaks and potatoes. Other members brought various vegetables, salads, bread and sweets. I brought the paper plates, knives and forks. Speaking of Christmas, thanks to all the volunteers who helped decorate the lodge for the season. Volunteers were Teresa Baca, Mary Ann Summers, Josie Tomastik, Billy Mitchell, Rich Marcie, Otis Beck, Phil and Rosalee Weadock, Helen and Larry Bland -- you guys did well!

This will be my last letter as reporter. I have been a reporter for a number of years and have asked the trustees to appoint someone else to do the reporting. I did enjoy it. Good luck to the next reporter.

Lancaster Czech Class Concludes At Cedar Valley College Instructor Retta Chandler and her husband Charles were hosts for a Czech dinner and social at their residence in De Soto, which concluded the fall Czech language course. This convention was the first one noted as a "Convention of the Slavonic Benevolent Order of the State of Texas." It was also the only convention that was held in December instead of June or July.

Klub Kontinental Participates In Physicians' Exchange Program

Dear Readers, At last month's meeting, we had a very fun time. We made decorations for the Christmas tree, had our Christmas program and, the best of all wa. , a visit from Santa. We would like to thank everyone for coming and making the program even more special.

El Campo-Hillje Youth Club Meeting On December 10, 1991 the meeting of Lodge No. 40 Youth Club was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by President Danny Borak.

Lisa led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag and members remained standing for the SPJST Youth Club Pledge.

There were seven members and two guests present.

The minutes were read by Martha Bartos and were approved. Jared Dybala gave the treasurer's report and also called the roll.

This month's social was -- everyone was asked to bring a toy for needy children.

After our meeting we ate chicken fried steaks. Then we drew for presents and played games for the remainder of our party.

Our next meeting will be January 2, 1992 at the Commercial State Bank Gold Room at 7:00 p.m.

Soon after the return of freedom to the citizens of Czechoslovakia, the University of Texas Health Science Center and Baylor College of Medicine agreed to welcome visiting Czech and Slovak doctors to participate in the daily rounds and research activities of the Texas Medical Center in Houston. Rudy and Henrietta Klecka of Klub Kontinental in East Bernard, Texas were asked to assist in the travel arrangements for the program, because of their experience in guiding tours to Czechoslovakia over the past 22 years and also in arranging similar exchange programs for American and Czech farmers in more recent years.

The Kleckas are members of the Board of Directors of the TexasCzechoslovak Physicians' Exchange Program. The physician-members are Doctors John Haenosh, Arthur Jansa, Joel Kirkpatrick, Tomas Klima, Richard Stasney and John Stavinoha.

The program was created as a nonprofit organization to assist the candidates in this mission of continuing education and experience of American professional life as a physician. The specific aim of the group is to provide a room at a residence hall and to help as much as possible with travel and meals. The experience will be invaluable to both the doctor and those who support him. The length of stay will be three months and many candidates have shown interest. Two candidates are completing their stay in Houston, namely: Dr. Jan Tosovsky and Dr. Jan Janousek. On November 13, Mr. and Mrs. Klecka attended a wine and cheese reception for these doctors at the Doctors Club near the Medical Center in Houston.

The educational aspect is without charge, but the need for travel and housing would ordinarily fall upon the doctor himself. At current wages in Czechoslovakia, it would take 10 months of the doctor's salary just to get a round-trip airfare. The Exchange Program provides assistance in these needs.

Czechoslovakia gave to Texas a great heritage of people, customs and traditions. For the past fifty years, that relation has been interruped by a political barrier. Texas now has the chance to take down what remains of that barrier. Professional exchange programs provide a rich opportunity to accomplish this task and create new bonds of friendship and cooperation.

In keeping with this exchange, the Charles University in Prague will accept both students and faculty from the two host medical schools. Charles University was established in 1348 and is one of the most prestigious in Europe.

Where The American Names Came From

In the Civil War of the 1860s, the word was commonly used by the Confederate soldiers not only for Union soldiers but for all other northerners as well. Finally, in both World War I and World War II, "Yankee" -- or its shortened form "Yank" -- was used abroad as a term for all American soldiers.

Many theories have been advanced in the vain effort to account satisfactorily for the word "Dixie." It has been supposed, for example, that this term for the South is a familiar contraction of the name "Dixon." Jeremiah Dixon was one of the two surveyors who surveyed the boundary line of Pennsylvania and Maryland in the 18th century. The Mason and Dixon Line subsequently came to designate the dividing line between the free states and the slave states.

Another theory is plausible enough -that the word derives from the French "dix" (ten), which appeared on ten-dollar bank notes issued by the Bank of Louisiana just before the Civil War. These bank notes came to be called "dixies" throughout the southern states.

To muddle the matter further, some scholars see in the word a reference to an 18th century slaveholder named Dixie on New York City's Manhattan Island. Apparently, Dixie was a generous and kind-hearted man and his slaves sang ballads about the comfortable life on his farm -- particularly after they had left it. It is suggested that this feeling of warm nostalgia and affection was transferred to the southern homes of the slaves and the word "Dixie" lost all connection with its northern origin.

The origins of many colorful old American names -- names familiar to all of us and to most of the world-- are still obscure and raffle the experts.

Take, for example, the names "Yankee," "Dixie," and "Uncle Sam." Where did they come from?

To most people abroad -- and particularly to the British -- a Yankee means simply any citizen of the United States. But here in America we use the word to describe the people living in New England. And the word has an additional meaning to us. It describes a man with shrewd thrifty, hard-bargaining qualities that New Englanders are popularly supposed to possess.

Now, as to its origin. The great and entertaining scholar of the American language, Henry L. Mencken, believes that "Yankee" comes from the Dutch term "Janke" -- a nickname for "Jan" (John). Or perhaps, Mencken thought, from "Jan" plus the Dutch word "keel," meaning "cheese." In other words, -- "John Cheese."

As early as 1682 the word was in general use in the Spanish Main -- in the Caribbean Sea. The pirates who infested these waters at that time used the name "Jankee" or "Yankee" to describe an American of Dutch extraction.

No one seems to know how the name became current in the American colonies, but by 1765 it was commonly used by the English as a word of contempt or derision for all colonists. But then came the Revolutionary War, and the colonists -- instead of resenting the term -- adopted it with pride to describe themselves. Golden Wedding Celebrants A golden wedding anniversary was celebrated recently at a reception held at the American Legion Hall in Blessing for Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Hurta, Sr. of Midfield, Texas.

Edwin Hurta and the former Annie Mae Swinky were married November 19, 1941 in Midfield Methodist Church with the late Joseph Barton, Sr. officiating.

A noon meal was hosted by their four children and families, namely: Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Hurta, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Hurta, La Verne Hicks and Lawrence Hurta.

The honorees, also their eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren are all SPJST members of Lodge No. 148, Blessing.

Vlastne ji tady zahajil prof Cech, kterY se usadil v Nebrasce (zastavil se tady v roce 1854, kdy cestoval do Kalifornie do zlatYch dole — ve stejnern roce byla utvorena Nebraska a zalo2ena Omaha). Byl to Josef Francl, kterY vystudoval konzervator a pasobil mnoho let jako dirigent. Od to doby se v Omaze vystridala hezka radka hudebnika, skupin a orchestra hrajfcfch Ceskou hudbu. Byl to nape. Smetana Club, ktery byl zalo2en v roce 1924 a navazal na dlouhou tradici Katolicke besedy z roku 1893 (tento spolek vSak vedle hudby provozoval i divadlo, a to v rozsahu asi 5-6 her roe*. Ceska opera, proto2e tide chteli jenom tancovat, ne tolik poslouchat hudbu (proto ani nebylo mo2ne seznamit se s jinYm 2anrem).

Teprve nof prichazi Mark k tomuto poznanf a chce se dozvedet je§te vie o Ceske hudbe. Zaujala ho §ffe Ceske lidove pfsne. Vyptheil si od oeskeho lektora knihu s asi 500 aeskymi pfsnemi (je to Plickav CeskY zpevnik z roku 1949).

The Czech language has one of the most phonetic alphabets of all in the Indo-European languages of the world. There are thirty-one characters plus q, x and w which are used only in foreign words. The letters of the Czech alphabet are patterned on the Latin alphabet which has been expanded by the use of diacritical marks, called earka, krou2ek a Meek to create additional sounds.

Cinnamon and orange flavorings complement the blueberry filling of this pie from Sally Sibthorpe, of Troy, Mich. Her recipe earned her a trip to New Orleans, where she competed for prizes including a full kitchen of premium KitchenAid appliances-all part of the Crisco American Pie Celebration. For Sibthorpe, pies are a family tradition: "We were a pie family when I was growing up," she says.

"When I got married, I couldn't cook very well, but I could bake pies."

Blueberry Pie 2 c. all-purpose flour 1 c. Butter Flavor Crisco 1/4 c. sugar 1 tsp. salt About 1/4 c. cold water Filling 3 pkgs. (12 oz. each) frozen blueberries, thawed Liquid drained from berries 1/4 c. quick-cooking tapioca 1 1/2 c. sugar 1/4 c. cornstarch 2 tbsp. grated orange j. eel 1 tbsp. butter or margarine 1 tbsp. cinnamon Glaze Milk Sugar (optional) 1. For crust, place flour in medium bowl. Cut in Crisco using pastry blender (or 2 knives) until all flour is just blended in to form pea-size chunks. Stir in sugar and salt. Refrigerate for 10 min.

2. Sprinkle with half the water.

Toss lightly with fork. Add enough additional water so that dough will form a ball. Divide dough in half.

Press between hands to form two 5-6-in. "pancakes."

3. Flour rolling surface and rolling pin lightly. Roll dough for bottom crust into circle. Trim one inch larger than upside-down 9-in. pie plate. Loosen dough carefully. Fold into quarters. Unfold and press into pie plate. Trim edge even with pie plate.

4. Heat oven to 425째F. 5. For filling, drain blueberries, reserving liquid. Pour liquid into medium saucepan. Stir in tapioca.

Let stand 5 min. Stir in sugar and cornstarch. Cook and stir on medium heat until mixture comes to a boil and is thickened. Stir in orange peel, butter and cinnamon.

Fold in blueberries. Heat until bubbly. Pour into unbaked pie shell.

Moisten pastry edge with water.

6. Roll top crust same as bottom. Lift onto filled pie. Trim 1/2 in. beyond edge of pie plate. Fold top edge under bottom crust. Flute.

7. For glaze, brush with milk.

Sprinkle with sugar, if desired, avoiding fluted edge. Cut slits in top crust for escape of steam.

8. Bake at 425째F. for 45 min., covering with foil, if necessary, to prevent overbrowning. Cool until barely warm or to room temp. before serving.
