FIRST PLACE WINNERS of A-Division State Volleyball Tournament were members of SPJST Lodge No. 154, Fort Worth. SL President Howard Leshikar (Ieft) presents them with first place trophy.

MEMBERS OF SPJST Lodge No. 88, Houston who played in A-Division State Volleyball Tournament. These team players were in good spirits even though they came in fourth place and stated they would be back in 1992.

Lodge 154, Ft. Worth Captures First Place In SPJST State Volleyball Tournament The Fort Worth volleyball team took home the first place trophy in the A­ Division. Since 1988 when we played the first SPJST State Volleyball Tour­ nament, the first place tropy was won by the members of New Tabor vol­ leyball team and it looked like that there was no team that could beat them, but it happened this year. The New Tabor team came in second place.

The SPJST Volleyball Tournament was held on Saturday, November 16, 1991 at the Tempie City Gym. There were seven teams representing four districts that were present. There also were a number of spectators on hand

who cheered the players on. They all experienced a day of fast and tough competition and friendly rivalry.

The Supreme Lodge officers and directors would like to congratulate the winners from the following lodges: A-DIVISION: 1st place winners - Lodge 154, Fort Worth 2nd place winners - Lodge 17, New Tabor 3rd place winners - Lodge 13, Dime Box 4th place winners - Lodge 88, Houston

What Makes Christmas?

So it is not the presents That make our Christmas Day; 'Tis not what we receive that counts; But what we give away.

The joy of loving service Makes all the day seem bright, The thought of others' pleasure With self put out of sight.

Oh, never mourn that Christmas Comes only once a year, Because it is our giving That brings the Christmas cheer.

Brothers and Sisters: We must never forget the protection the SPJST gives your family, and you must al­ ways remember that none of this is available to you if you are not a mem­ ber in good standing. By members in good standing, we mean that your pre­ miums and/or local lodge dues are cur­ rent, that you come across with your monthly dues and that you are cooper­ ating in all our lodge activities.

Good standing in a lodge means that your lodge is an active part of the community and that you are doing something so that others associated with the Society will be benefitting and by so doing you are also benefit­ ting yourself.

In some cases members are inter­ ested only in what they can get out of our organization, but receiving is not as good as the proud feeling one re­ ceives when they find that some social affair or some other act of kindness has aided their lodge's brothers and sisters, all members of the same fine fraternal organization.

Proceeds from this project benefit Hospice, a program providing care for the terminally ill.

Officers' Reports: 1) FAC Dora Lee Kopecky reminded members of the annual meeting and Christmas social at 2:00 p.m. on Sun­ day, December 8th. Dora Lee also reminded members of the "I 00 Pen­ nies" Scholarship Fund Drive.

2) Youth Leader Mary Ann Karasek reported their Christmas party would be held on December 1 Oth. The members voted to contribute $50 to Memorial Hospital - Home Health­ Hospice to support "Celebration of Life" Christmas tree in memory of our deceased members and honoring our living members; $200 contribution to Memorial Hospital-El Campo, and $150 contribution to Louise Volunteer Fire Department.

Members also voted that members bring canned goods to Christmas so­ cial to support Texas Department of Human Resources, Aged and Disabled Christmas Project for Wharton County residents.

The meeting on motion adjourned with James Bacak winning the door prize.

Dear Members: Our regular monthly meeting was called to order at 1 :30 p.m. on Novem­ ber 17, 1991 by President Jím Locke.

The Youth Club Pledge was led by Alicia Neslony.

Roll call of officers by Evelyn Seith showed all were present.

Secretary Bonny Pruitt read the minutes of our previous meeting and, with a correction, they were approved.

She also read correspondence which included information of the 1992 SPJST Convention concerning the pur­ chase of an ad in the XXVI Conven­ tion Brochure.

She then read the minutes of the board of trustees' meeting and they were approved.

The Entertainment Committee report was given by Sister Sophie Leshikar concerning the upcoming holiday season. On December 4, we will decorate the tree and hall. Lodge No. 66 will hold its Christmas party on Saturday, December 14; the doors will open at 3:00 p.m. and supper will be served at 5:00 p.m.

The youth will present a program and there will be a visit from Santa. The dance will begin after the program.

Members are asked to bring desserts.

The Christmas dinner will be catered and the guest plate will be $5.00 There will also be a collection for the SPJST Scholarship Fund.

Sister Mary A. Langlotz gave the FAC report. There were 25 present at our November 17 social game night.

There will be NO social game night in December; our next social game night will be January 13, 1992 at 7:00 p.m.

Lodge No. 66 volleyball team won first place in the SPJST State Vol­ leyball Tournament in Temple. They received a trophy.

Lodge No. 81, Needville (Reporter's note -- I wish to thank Sister Benita Walze! for taking such complete notes of the November meet­ ing, because I was unable to be present due to my husband's surgery. Without your help, Benita, this report to the Vestnik would not be possible.)

The November 1991 meeting of Needville's Lodge No. 81 was held on Sunday, the 17th. Thirty-eight mem­ bers and guests were present. At 12:00 noon dinner was served. Our lodge fur­ nished the fried and baked chicken and the sisters brought the good vegetables, salads and desserts.

Thanks to all of you and to Mary Werner for bringing the chicken.

President Adolph Macha called the business meeting to order at 1 :00 p.m.

Following the Pledge of Allegiance, led by Victor Werner, members ob­ served a moment of silence in memory of our departed Sister Florena Straz­ nicky. Sincere sympathy is extended to her family. May she rest in peace.

Guests present were District V Director Louis Hanus and Donna Moran. Donna spent ten years in Czechoslovakia teaching the English language. She brought with her a dis­ play of items from Czechoslovakia, some of which had been given to her by her students, and told of her teach­ ing activities.

President Macha read the correspon­ dence he had received during the past month. Minutes of the October meet­ ing were read by Secretary Werner and approved as read.

Treasurer Willie Mae Kuykendall was absent due to illness in her family, so her treasurer's report was read by Secretary Werner and was also ap­ proved.

Special Fund Treasurer Gilbert Wal­ ze! read the schedule of events for the coming month. He presented the spe­ cial fund report and the games' ac­ count report. Both of these were also approved.

On the sick list are Thomas Kuyken­ dall, Yvonne Wrobliski, Valerian Mat­ eek and Vincent Newman, R. Victor Werner has been undergoing medical tests. We wish all of these members good progress in their recovery.

Director Hanus presented a few pointers on the upcoming 1992 State Convention.

A discussion was held on changing our lodge hall rental rates. Mary Werner made a motion to table this matter. The motion passed and rental rates will be discussed. at a future meeting.

Darlene Blinka made a motion that we pay Mary Werner $50.00 for her membership card in Sam's Wholesale Club. As kitchen chairman, she makes several trips each year to Sam's to pur­ chase kitchen supplies.

Gilbert Walzel reported on his recent exciting and very successful elk-hunt­ ing trip to Colorado.

There will be a Christmas tree, bags of goodies and special door prizes.

Benita Walze! suggested that we surprise Santa Claus and buy him a new red suit. Karen Brady generously offered to pay for the suit. Thank you, Karen. Benita will have Santa's new suit sent to him in time for him to wear it on the 15th.

Members observing recent wedding anniversaries were Mary and Victor Werner and Rosalie and Eddie Pieper.

The school year is moving along quickly and our lodge' s young mem­ bers are keeping busy. On the honor roll from the Rosenberg schools are Kristy Jablonski and Clinton Jablonski. On the Needville honor roll are Jason Vallet, Bradley Vallet, Corey Walze! and the Newman sisters -- Cheryl, Amanda and Lynnette.

Jason Vallet participated in the calf scramble at the Fort Bend County Fair and successfully crossed the finish line with his catch. Bradley Vallet is active in the Needville High School Theater Guild and the Jets (Science) Club.

Cheryl Newman is a member of the 7th grade Varsity Band at Needville High School. Amanda Newman was recently elected to membership in the National Junior Honor Society. She is also on the 7th grade girls' basketball team, the Lady Jays, at Needville 'Mid­ dle School. Lynnette Newman was named Bluejay of the Month for Oc­ tober in her third grade class.

Please make plans to attend the next meeting on Sunday, December 15, 1991. At 12:00 noon, we will begin with Christmas dinner of turkey, dress­ ing and all the trimmings. The turkeys will be donated by the Gilbert Walzelr and the Vincent Newmans, Sr. Mar) Werner will be preparing her gooc dressing and the sisters of our lodge are asked to bring the "trimmings'

(vegetable and desserts).

The business meeting, beginning at 1:00 p.m. will include installation of officers for 1992.

Lodge No. 130, Dallas Monthly Report Lodge 130 held its first annual "Lick and Stick" party at our October 8th meeting, at which we assisted Finan­ cial Secretary Brother Arnold Vrla in stamping and labeling the envelopes to be mailed to all members. We had a record number of members attending so good to see all of you and please return, soon.

All reports from officers and com­ mittees were received as read. Youth Leader Sister Suzanne Vrla reminded members that the youth club was still collecting aluminum cans and to please continue to save them. Also, she is considering collecting newspapers for the youth club.

Sister Martha Vrla announced that the Beseda Dancers will be traveling to San Angelo the first weekend in December to perform, once again, at the annual Christmas at Fort Concho festivities. We all look forward to our visit there.

Lodge 130 members send a very spe­ cial "Happy 35th Anniversary" to Richard and Helen Brown. I've heard the first 35 years are the hardest, so it's down hill all the way now, Richard and Helen!

Our Christmas meeting will be held 'on Tuesday, December 10th (not on December 9th as I, erroneously, reported to Brother Sefcik last month).

Members are requested to bring a child's gift which will be collected and delivered to a worthy organization for Christmas. Also, a covered dish, des­ sert or whatever is requested. The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. and supper will be between 6:45 and 7:00 p.m.

Hopefully, Brother Keith and Sister Nancy Shinn will be showing off their new addition at that time! We are all waiting, Nancy!

Lodge No.179, Warrenton Dear Members: The members of Lodge No. 179 met on November 14th for their Thanks­ giving supper. A good turnout was there to enjoy the turkey and the "works." A few more members would make this a great party.

Aubrey Eichler was accepted as a new member - a transfer from Houston SPJST Lodge. Mr. Eichler will be liv­ ing in Carmine upon his retirement.

We are glad to get these members.

The Christmas meeting will be on December 12th. The lodge will furnish ham and the members are to bring side dishes; also gifts will be exchanged, the men bring a man' s gift and ladies a gift for a lady. A Christrmas tree will be lit up for everyone to come and enjoy.

The same officers were re-elected to serve next year. Mr. Arnold Peters was elected to be our delegate to the com­ ing convention.

It is a little early, but we wish to send Season' s Greetings to all of our friends in the other lodges.

Out of Obfuscation Lodge No. 183, Arlington, Texas Dear Brothers, Sisters and Friends, We have been reminded several times that it has been a while since we have written a few lines to the Vestnik.

Well, hopefully we can "catsup" a number of things that have occurred in the past year.

Most folk tend to agree that a distant relative is often not distant enough.

All-in-all, it has been a good year for Lodge 183. We started out the year learning that we had some serious negotiating to do with the FDIC con­ cerning our building mortgage. Due to some persistent work from our Presi­ dent Inez Greenlees and the members of the Executive Committee, we learned near the year' s end, that the negotiations would be settled in our favor. This was announced at our last monthly meeting, November 10th, 1991. The membership was excited to receive the good news.

This past year, we haven't had as many Saturday night dances as we have in past years, due to problems with scheduling bands. Also, with the local economy being in a slow-down, we were selective in the number of dances held. But when we had a dance, we had our usual get-together which lifted the spirits of all those in atten­ dance. (Also, most all those in atten­ dance lifted some spirits of their own, bending elbows here and there!)

Our game nights have held steady this year, despite the fact that account­ able compensation to the state has in­ creased greatly and as I mentioned, the

Dear Youth and Members, The youth club meeting was held on October 20, 1991. We had seventeen members and seven adults present.

We are making plans for our fund­ raiser of selling M&M Candy. The youth feel this will be no problem, be­ cause everyone likes M&M's.

At our District III fall meeting on October 13, at Lodge No. 25 in Ennis, we made our plans for Holiday-in-the­ Park and the Lock-in at Lodge No. 84.

The youth participated in the Christmas ornament contest. In age group 9-11, Brian Tierce won first place and in age group 6-8, Michael Tierce won Honorable Mention. Con­ gratulations to all youth who par­ ticipated.

On October 26, we went to Six Flags for our Halloween party trip. It was a very wet and rainy day. · We would like to take this oppor­ tunity to congratulate Jesika Tierce who performed her talent act at the Texas Fraternal Congress. We are proud of you and thank you for repre­ sentating our Lodge 66, District III, the SPJST Supreme Lodge, and the Society.

The October birthday cake was brought by Ace Wigley and the game was brought by Butch Wigley.

Dear Members and Youth: Lodge No. 66 Youth Club met on November 17, 1991. We had fifteen members and six adults present.

Our youth members have been work­ ing very hard selling their M&M candy. They also sold all of their bluebonnets at the meeting. We thank everyone who has helped us in these projects.

Jeffrey Ashcraft led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. The register was read and there were 13 members and 4 adults present. We had 4 guests, Aaron Dornhoefer, Andy Baker, Patrick Hutka and Valerie Bruggman.

The minutes were read and approved.

Jeffrey Ashcraft gave the treasurer's report and the balance is $260. 13.

We would like to say "Happy Birthday" to Jeffrey Ashcraft (Novem­ ber 1 O) and Chad Bruggman (Novem­ ber 29).

Door prizes were won by Tammy and Andy Baker.

He was a graduate of Rogers High

He was a member of Temple Brethren Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher. He was a member of SPJST Lodge No. 24.

Survivors include his wife, Sheri:y Renee Cabla of Belton; a son, Chris­ topher Jerry Cabla of Belton; his parents, Jerry H. Cabla Jr. and La­ Verne L. Skrabanek Cabla, both of Seaton; a sister, Arleen Tschoerner of Temple; and his grandmothers, Fran­ ces Cabla of Seaton and Sydonia Skrabanek of Rogers.

Memorials may be made to the Temple Brethren Church building fund.

Features A Wedding Tradition

By Kevin Hannan This past summer I attended a wed­ ding in Granger, Texas. The wedding was festive, as was the reception that followed, but what made the day memorable was the staging of an old tradition. At midnight there was a

pause in the music and it was an­ nounced that a special event would take place in the middle of the hall. A chair was brought out for the young bride and a crowd assembled around her. A group of women began to remove the bride's veil while the people surrounding her broke out in song.

What they re-enacted was an ancient Slavic custom, called cepení in Czech, which signified the acceptance of the bride into the community of married women. The ceremony signaled to the bride tirnt the carefree days of youth had drawn to a close and that a more difficult life awaited her. The married women of the wedding party tradition­ ally removed the bride' s veil at mid­ night on the night of the wedding and replaced it with a simple cap, called a Čepec in Czech, which was commonly worn by married women. riage a girl wore her hair loose, decorated with flowers or ribbons, while a married woman wore her hair braided or under a cap. Čepenř refers to the act of placing the cap on the bride's head. The custom survives in parts of Eastern Europe, where it still carries a practical meaning which brides are expected to take to heart.

On the night of the wedding, I promised my cousin that I would trans­ late this song for her. It's more charm­ ing in the original Moravian dialect and I hope that those who try to preserve this custom will make the ef­ fort to learn it in Moravian. In English it goes something like this: On the hill is a grove.

There a lad with blue eyes is turning.

He spins, he'll keep spinning.

"I cannot forget you, dear child."

"What have you done, girl, that you made a vow before God's holy altar?"

"I didn't want too, I had to kneel at the altar with folded hands. I wept."

"Yesterday you were your mother's but today you are his wife."

(Note: In verse six the surname of the bride, with the suffix -ova added, is sung. If her surname was Hajda, for example, they sing: Včera's byla Hai­ dova -- "Yesterday you were a Hajda. but today you are his wife.")

A work on Czech folklore in Texas

by Olga Pazdral mentions another song sung at the bride' s unveiling, "Svobodo, svobodo" ("Freedom, Freedom.") This is one verse: Přistup sem, Ženu~ko, přistup sem blíž.

Despite the somber tone of these songs, the unveiling is one of the mer­ riest moments of the wedding celebra­ tion. The bride is given money and gifts at this time. After the unveiling numerous pranks are pulled at the ex­ pense of the groom. The singing of the unveiling song can be prolonged as the festivities require, with additional ver­ ses added and improvised. The last verses are often humorous.

There is another song which was sung at the čepenf ceremony in the "old country" in the Frýdek area: Milena děvucho, stane se přeměna teraz z těbě budě ladna hospodyňa, Teraz budeš měla kluče v svojej moci buděš' se muset starat ve dne i noci.

These towns contrast favorably with many other settlements with predominately Anglo-American population, where the tradition of rugged American individualism often prevents a sense of community from developing among neighbors.

The decade of the 1980s saw a resur­ gence in ethnic pride in America. This signaled the reversal of an earlier trend in which several generations of im­ migrants and their descendants, grate­ ful for the blessings of liberty they found on American soil, believed it was their duty to totally abandon their native culture and to assimilate as Brian Anglin Americans. MORAVA Namísto sebeponižování před cizinou bychom si měli s hrdostí uvedorntt, že jsme starým evropským národem s počtem kolem patnácti miliónů duší.

Nikoli včera, či po listopadu vzniklým, ale národem, který přes půldruhého tisíce let spoluvytváří osudy evropského lidstva.

Svou vzdělaností, myšlením a cítěním jsme se oddělili od velkě rodiny slovanské. Ze vsěch západních Slovanů stali jsme se nejen geograficky, ale i předevší m duchovně Slovany nejzápadnějšími, nejevropštějšími.

Naše nejstarší kulturní památky jsou vyspělá umělecká díla. Písemné památky projevuji vzácnou vytříbenost jazyka. Náš společný jazyk, toto nejdůležitější sociální zařízeni celku, žije s tímto celkem, s ním se mění a vyvíjí, s ním rozkvétá i upadá. Jako perly na náhrdelníku, jako barvy duhy na obloze, pl'ipojují se k sobě s porozuměním od východu k západu naš vlasti menší celky společného jazyka i národa, jednotlivá nářečí. Přechody od jednoho ke druhému nepostřehneš, Hranice je neoddělují.

Podle řečí těžko je rozeznat občana ze západního Slovenska od občana z východní Moravy. To, že na Slovensku jsou asi čtyři nářečí, podobně na Moravě a Slezsku a možná také tolik v Čechách, nic nemění na skutečnosti, že pospolu tvoří jeden velklý jazykový celek, jazyk našeho společného národa, jehož ráz, mluvnická soustava a základ slovní zásoby zůstává po tisíc let stejný.

Dvě z těchto nářečí se staly spisovnými.

Tato okolnost by neměla být dělícím faktorem v národě, spíš stmelujícím, vždyt národ na tom nese asi tolik viny či zásluhy, jako věřtcí venkovský lid na zvolení dvou nebo tř papežů. Dva roky "demokracie" pro Moravu a Slezsko Co nevidět budou tomu dva roky od předání moci ortodoxními komunisty komunistům reformním.

Co to přineslo Moravanům a Slezanům? Jen velká zklamání. Za tuto dobu přední moravští politici, především z hnutí HSD -- SMS a politické spektrum naší země Moravskoslezské, vyčerpali demokratickou cestou všechny možné způsoby u totalitní moci o novém státoprávním uspořádání naší ČSFR, aby lid této země byl v jednom horizontu s lidem českým a slovenským.

Toto dvouleté bezvýsledné žadonění a žebrání o svá svatá práva, daná přirozeností, nenašla u dnešních mocných příznivou odezvu. Opak je pravdou. Totalitní moc pragocen­ trismu posílila genocidu v zemi Morav­ skoslezské a její bezmezné drancování ve všech směrech. Země Moravskoslez­ ská se tak stala dokonalou českou kolonií. Národ moravský a slezský je pro pragocentrismus "outsiderem." Úmrtím doc. Boleslava Bárta, který byl velkým Moravanem a bojovníkem za svatá práva lidu země Morav­ s k o slezské, dostaly moravské požadavky zpátečku, což je velkým vítězstvím "OFčáků." Zesnulý doc.

Bárta měl v programu, za každou cenu, po vyčerpání demokratických způsobů, docílit postavení lidu Moravy a Slezska na stejnou úroveň Čechů a Slováků tím, že do nových voleb bude spolková republika Československá.

Moravskoslezské politické spektrum se po jeho smrti otevřeně smiřuje s variantou pragocentrismu, a to zemským zřízením v rámci České republiky. Moravané a Slezané, nedovolte, aby k tomuto podvodu ze strany pragocentrismu došlo! Bylo by to jen papírové řešení, nikoliv skutečné, což by dopadlo tak jako volby komunální, že okresy, města a obce jsou řízeny expoziturami, které nahrazují bývalé KNV a ovládají je tři odnože bývalého OF vedené Čechy.

Pragocentrismus se své kolonie (Moravy a Slezska) nechce vzdát, a tak vymýšlí intriky, aby naše krásná vlast Morava a Slezsko zůstaly českou državou.

Moravané a Slezané, uvědomte si, že národ, který nechce bojovat za svou identitu, nemá právo na existenci. Téměř před dvěma lety vás k boji vyzval Václav Havel. Vy jste sice bojovali demokratickými způsoby proti nedemokratické totalitní moci, ale nic jste nevybojovali. Takový boj je předem odsouzen k nezdaru. To pochopil před svou smrtí i docent Bár­ ta.

Pusťte se do boje, spontánně, odpovídajícími prostředky, velmi citlivými na každodenní pulsování všedního života, nejen u nás, ale s dopadem na celou střední a východní Evropu. Zastavte dodávky plynu směrem Čechy a Slovensko. Zabloku­ jte železniční a silniční dopravu na

hranicích celé země Moravskoslezské a omezte SPOJE na takovou dobu, pokud nebudou vyřešeny požadavky Moravy a Slezska.

Nenechte se nadále urážet, ponižovat, ožebračovat a okrádat. De­ jte pragocentrismu a celému světu jasně najevo, co je totalitní pragocen­ trismus a chopte se správy věcí svých sami, vyhlášením republiky Morav­ skoslezské. Jen tak semůžete rychle zbavit bez ponižování, koloniální nadvlády pragocentrismu.

Pryč s Prahou, už toho všeho bylo víc než dost. Uvědomte si, kam a do jaké hanebné a potupné situace vás dnešní mocní doženou.

Na nové volby nespoléhejte, ty nevyřeší moravské problémy. Jiná cesta k řešení našich problémů není.

Nedovedeteli nyní své věci k svému ;íli, pak dnešní rodičové své děti natr­ valo odsoudíte k národní méněcen­ nosti, kterou již o Moravanech vyslovil sám V. Havel, což znamená po vzoru čisté rasy untermensch (podčlověk). To snad nedopustíte, národe Moravský a Slezský! Dokažte k 400. výročí našeho velkého světového krajana Jana Amose Komenského, že nám Moravanům v naší vlasti Moravské, síly k boji neubylo.

Jsme Moravané a Slezané, máme a musíme mít právo své záležitosti si řešit sami podle svého, bez českých poručníků. Morava a Slezsko patří Moravanům a Slezanům a nikdo nemá právo řešit jejich problémy bez nich.

Varianty pragocentrismu nechť si mocní vylepí tam, kam císař pán chodil pěšky. Útlak národů Moravy a Slezska pragocentrismem, nemá v dnešní moderní západní Evropě a západního světa vůbec obdoby.

K řešení svých problémů mohou nám být vzorem menší národy než jsme my -- Moravané a Slezané -- např.

Slovinci, Chorvati, Estonci, Litevci a Lotyši aj. Vezměte si příklad z nich.

Zamyslete se všichni nad celou dnešní situací, pak vám nic jiného nezbude, než to, co je shora napsáno.

Pokoj lidem dobré vůle Dnešní svět je nabit voláním po míru, a přesto se rafinovaně zabíjí a válčí!

Casto nyní slyšíme a čteme slova věčný mír. Nezdá se však, že by se přibližoval, ba jsme svědky toho, jak se den ze dne mír vzdaluje. Stále méně příslušníků mladších generací bere v úvahu varování pamětníků obou světových válek a počíná si jako smyslů zbavených.

Krvelačné filmy o masovém zabíjení jsou na programu dne. Kdekdo voláme po míru a kdekdo mír porušujeme. I křesťanská matka s hrůzou prosící Boha, aby pro spásu jejích dětí odvrátil válku, klepající na dveře Evropy v Jugoslávii, sama třeba válčí se sousedkami pro směšně malicherné příčiny. Všichni voláme po míru, ale mezi sebou jej udělat neumíme.

Neumíme si stále uvědomit skutečnost, že co lid připraví, to bude mít. Mír se totiž zakládá na čisté lásce

k bližnímu. Odjakživa platí, že jsme lid, který musí býti veden. A to je základ tragédie miru. A přijde hlasatel jakékoliv sebehloupější myšlenky, hrozící nebezpečím pro všechny, vždy se najdou potrefení zastánci. A toho jsou si špatní vůdcové národa vědomi.

Z lidu umějí udělat stádo a dav, které se jako omámené žene do vlastní zkázy. Jsme samostatní a svobodní?

Nejsme, neboť neumíme vystoupit poctivě i tehdy, jsme-li vědomi své poctivosti, protože by se to druhým nepoctivcům nelíbilo! I nadále žijeme v duchovním otroctví, protože každý z nás čteme své noviny, které si nás dovedou podmanit, jak chtějí. Stručně řečeno, každý z nás je svými novinami vychováván jako protivník toho, kdo čte list druhý. Dokud budou tyto noviny jen kolbištěm agresívních výlevů na názory politických oponentů, tak pak se nedivme, že to u nás vypadá tak, jak to dnes vypadá.
