The new SPJST State Youth Director is Joni Lange from Temple, who is married to Kenneth Lange also from Temple; they have two children, Stacy Lange, 14 and Leslie Lange, 9.

Joni grew up in the Camp Fire organization. · Her qualifications include: camp leader off-and-on approximately eight years, and program director for the Cedar Ridge Camp Fire Council.

She has experience as a camp direc­ tor, candy sale director for fund­ raisers, also served on the Board of Directors for one year.

Her hobbies consist of . dancing, sewing, reading, and eating. She loves chocolate.

THE VISITORS were brought by to see the SPJST Museum on August 29, 1991. They contributed a hat for the "Valassky Vojak" mannequin and a corn husk doll display. The group enjoyed seeing all of the items and dis­ play at the museum which are preserving the Czech heritage. (The three visitors were making a. television documentary for showing in Czechos­ lovakia) about the Czech-Moravian life in Texas. The group also visited with the Roger Kolar family and filmed many attractions during Westfest for both days. This year's Czech Fest will be held at the Bell County Expo Center on Sep­ tember 22, 1991, as in the past two years, but we have a change and all ac­ tivities will be on the outside.

All of this year's entertainment events and all dancing will be held outside due to the NASA exhibits on the inside.

Tents, tables and chairs as well as a covered stage will be provided so you will have a place to sit at the tables and space for dancing. You may dress more casual or, better yet, we encourage you to wear a costume, or a vest or colorful clothing, to help us set a festival-type atmosphere.

Food and carnival rides are at an extra cost.

The yo11H1 clubs are· encouraged to sell crafts, pastry. popcorn, etc. to benefit their youth club. A table will be furnished for each club that wishes to par­ ticipate. Would you please notify the Home Office by September 18th, if you will need atable. A schedule of the day's activities is printed below and we hope you made plans to celebrate with us.

Lodge 157, Lubbock Hosts District VII Fun-Day, September 7, 1991 A large crowd enjoyed the District IV Fun-Day hosted by Lodge 157, Lubbock. Although a majority of those present were from the Lubbock area, approximately twenty members were active participants from San Angelo, Rowena; and Seymour. (These mem­ bers traveled over two hundred miles to attend. That is dedication.)

This was a Fun-Day so no formal meeting was held. Vice President Ber­ nie Gebala represented the Supreme Lodge along with District IV Director Stanley Broz.

Social games and also dominoes were enjoyed by all. The sweets' com-

petition was won by Lois Macha, and the Round Robin horseshoe pitching tournament was won by Leonard Jansa.

Ernest Kristinek, Jr., and his son, Walter, cooked the delicious barbecue, and the day's successful activities were coordinated by Angeline Kris­ tinek and Vlasta Makovy. Everyone pitched in and helped. It was like one big fraternal family.

There were also guests present from Washington, Oregon, and New Mexico. {Photos On Page 5)

Our lodge was proud to learn that we have been selected to have a Czech Band from Czechoslovakia on October 9th, the time will be 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and admission will be $5.00 a person. They will play concert music and also dance music. Everyone is in­ vited to come and enjoy the music.

Members let's not forget that our picnic is SUNDAY, OCTOBER 6th.

Booths will open at 1 :00 p.m. and serving of barbecue will begin at 3:00 p.m. until?? The dance will start at 6:00 p.m. and end at 10:00 p.m. featur­ ing the "Country Showmen."

Lodge No. 15, Buckholts Meeting Buckholts Lodge No.15 met Sunday, September 8 at 3:00 p.m. with Presi­ dent Gladys Allison presiding.

The meeting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance being recited, and a moment of silence was observed for our deceased members.

The minutes were read and approved.

Also the treasurer' s report was 'given and approved. All committee reports were given and approved.

It was discussed to check around to see if we could find someone reliable to repair our roof.

Mary Mowdy was added to the Entertainment Committee to replace Gilbert Frenzel who transferred to another lodge.

The lodge members decided that our dances be cut back to two public dan­ ces a month, plus the Dance Club and any hall rentals we can get.

There was much discussion on the bands and fund-raisers, again. Any ideas for money-making projects would be greatly appreciated.

It was asked if anyone had any changes in the Rules and Regulations; the committee members need to know ~s soon as possible (ASAP) to start their evaluation on the proposed changes.

Monthly reports were given by the chairman. It was noted that the STATE ROYALTY was a great success and all the help was appreciated.

Alice and Miroslav have just come back from a 13-day tour of Colorado, Wyoming, and South Dakota with in­ teresting stops in Nebraska and Kan­ sas. Miroslav had luck on a slot machine in Deadwood, South Dakota.

He said the only reason he 'came home with some of it is that he had to get on the bus to continue the tour.

A few days ago Alice and Mira visited with our members at the S.P.J.S.T. Rest Home in Needville.

Grandma Hanka always enjoys their visit. They also visited with Rose Horelica who lives there now. I'm sure most of you remember Emil Horelica, her husband, who worked so hard to get money for our new lodge building in 1965. They also visited John Pech and Mrs. Julia Novak. Birdie Pech is still in Polly Ryon Hospital in Rich­ mond, but is doing much better, and expects to go back to Needville soon.

As usual, we 've had several sad oc­ casions, again; Dr. Joe C. Krejci of Borger, Texas died August 23, 1991.

Dr. Krejci was a retired chemical en­ gineering associate and manager of Phillips Carbon Black Research Facility before his retirement after 34 years of service. He was survived by his wife, Fay Dean, and two daughters, Faye Dean Doyne of Los Angeles and Mary Joe Mahan of Houston; also three sisters survive him, Tillie Helmcamp, Viola Cox of Houston and Alice . Braikovich of the Woodlands, and three grandchildren. Lodge 88 members sympathize with the family.

HOLEMAN FUNERAL, 9-4-91 James Alan Holeman, 31, died Monday, September 2, 1991 after an extended illness. He is survived by his parents, Billy Jack and Mildred Holeman of Houston; brothers, Gregory and wife, Renee of Spring, Henry and wife, Pat of Houston; a sister, Billie Brinkley and husband, David of Baytown. James was a lifelong member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and a member of Lodge 88. Services for James were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Sep­ tember 4 at the church with Pastor Lawrence' White officiating. Burial was in Memorial Oaks Cemetery.

His mother, Mildred, wrote a beautiful letter and shared it with us at the funeral.'

Billy Jack, Mildred and family, we deeply sympathize with all of you.

On August 2, 1991 Sister Helen Hegwood and I decided to take Kelsie Huble, Helen' s granddaughter and Adam Marshall, my great-grandson to the Hermann Park Zoo. We had a wonderful time trying to keep up with 2 little energetic bodies. Helen and I didn't have to go walking that evening.

On August 13, at Sound of Music in Galveston, my niece Karen Hanka took me to see the play at the Mary Moody Northern Amphitheatre. Kristin Lee Hanka is the daughter of Bruce and Karen Hanka and Ernie's great­ niece. She is a student at Bane Elementary in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. She has appeared in Houston Grand Opera's Hansel and Gretel (two years) Caralleria Rusticana!Pagliacci and Carousel. She has also appeared in HITS Unicorn Theatre Company's Annie and Cinderella at Miller Out­ door Theatre. She trains under Carolyn Franklin. She plays Marta in the Sound of Music, and proved to be a great actress.

Mr. and Mrs. Sydney Jurchak's granddaughter, Lee Ann Sommer, graduated from Southwestern Univer­ sity at Georgetown in May 1991. Lee Ann is now teaching the 8th grade his­ tory at Watkins Junior High School in Cy-Fair District. Her brother, Lesley, graduated from high school in May 1991 and is now attending the same college Lee Ann did. Lee Ann and Lesley are the children of Mr. and Mrs. Sydney Jurchaks' oldest daughter, Mrs. Beverly Sommer, who died in 1988. My personal comment -­ Lee Ann and Lesley are certainly blessed with having such fine grandparents. May God Bless you all!

Labor Day was celebrated at Al and Arlene Marshalls in Weimar. All their children were there, namely, Joe, Pam and Adam Marshall; Karen, Larry and Shawn Hernandez from Waco and Susan and Tim Perkovich from Seguin and, of course, I was there, too. Lodge No.107, Floresville The regular monthly meeting of Lodge 107 was called to order by President Bayer. Pledge was led by Trey Bielefeld.

All officers were present, except Youth Leader Jill Suggs.

Correspondence from the Supreme Lodge concerning scholarship applica­ tions and convention delegates, S.P.J.S.T. Rest Home I (Taylor) need for a new piano, and information for the IRS was read.

DYC Maxine Pavliska and FAC Trey Bielefeld read a list of activities for youth and adults for the remainder of the year.

President Bayer gave a financial report.

It was decided that a donation would be given to the Old Fiddlers Contest at the Peanut Festival, again. Plans were made for all the activities and how many peanuts of different kinds we should prepare for our booth at the Festival. Lodge 107 plans to sell hot roasted peanuts, salted peanuts, hot (pepper) peanuts, sugared peanuts, peanut brittle, boiled peanuts and peanuts in the shell. A big day is planned with the youth club assisting.

We will be cooking sugared peanuts and peanut brittle on Saturday and Sunday, October 5th and 6th; both days, we will start at 10:00 a.m. and work until our quota is filled.

PLEASE, all Lodge· 107 members, come out and help because we need many workers to make a big job a little lighter.

Brothers Jerry, Emil and Rome Milan left on August 31 · for In­ dianapolis, Indiana where Jerry and Emil were staging managers and Rome was floor manager of the World Gym­ nastic Championships being held.

They were saddened Saturday morning to get a call that Brother Emil had a heart attack. His sister, Frances Mamula of South Bend, left immedi­ ately to be with him. Sister Sally, his wife and daughter, Debbie Stockard, left immediately to be with him, also, and son, David, will be there next day.

Sister Mamula called later after she got back home and reported Emil was doing better. A lot of tests are being · made and we pray all will be well.

Brother Frankie Milan, wife, Sister Martha, and son, Brother Josh returned from a week in Decateur, Illinois where the Women's National Fast Pitch Softball Tournament was held. · Brother Frankie is a Fort Worth um­ pire chief and he helped in this tourna­ ment and Brother Josh is the national bat boy; while there, Sister Kathryn · Garrison from Creve Cover, Illinois came to be with them a couple of hours. This Wednesday, they are leav­ ing for Indianapolis to see the World Games.

Sister Marilyn Milan just returned from another trip to San Diego, Brother C.J. and Sister Patti Gage and son, Louis, are in Florida visiting Dis­ ney World and the sites.

We extend our sincere sympathy to Brother Bob Cleveland and family on the loss of his mother, Lillie Cleveland, who died suddenly. May she rest in peace.

Dear Brothers and Sisters: On August 28 we held our regular monthly meeting, but before the meet­ ing got started, President Brother Jerry Dressler introduced members from "The Rose," which is Mammography Breast Center for needy women. They were Dr. Dixie Melillo (the founder of "The Rose"), Dr. Annabelle Baugus and Dorothy Weston. They came to thank Lodge 172 members for their help and donations; also thanks to Brother Erwin Theiss, FAC, for all the help and coordination to make the benefit a huge success which raised $12,500.00 for "The Rose." SPJST State King And Queen Begin Public Appearances With Westfest On Saturday, Augusť31, 1991 State King Tommy Rieger and his Duke Chad Tallas of Lodge 29, Taylor along with State Queen Bridget Schwartz and her Duchess Cara Jansa of Lodge 160, San Angelo, appeared in the an­ nual Westfest Parade.

We would like · to thank Tommy, Bridget, Chad, and Cara for the _excel­ lent way in which they represented the youth of this Society, and for enduring the dress clothes until after the presen­ tation in the Cultural Center later that day. Their behavior and appearance was a tribute to this Society.

We would like to send a special "Thank You" to Sykora Family Ford Dealership of West, Texas for provid-

ing Tommy and Bridget a vehicle in which to ride. We appreciate their cooperation and support throughout the parade. We would also like to thank Supreme Lodge President Howard Leshikar for driving the vehicle, and Maxine Sefcik for assist­ ing with picture taking and placement of the vehicle in the parade .

Rad ěíslo 47, Seaton Melí bratři a sestry, Předseda Tim Reese zahájil naši schůzi 8. září v 2 hodiny odpoledne.

Povstáním jsme vzdali čest naší vla­ jce; nosiči byli Jennifer Reese a Mark Greger.

Na lístku nemocných byli Marie Pavelka, Raymond Mikeska, Dan Hejl a Clarence Laštovica.

Měli jsme tichou vzpomínku na bratra William "Bill" Kasarek a Crawford Delano.

Návštívili nás Gertrude Kahlig, Ann Balusek a Freddie Schroeder.

Tajemnice Delores Škrabánek přečetla protokol a byl přijat tak, jak byl napsán.

Zprávy úředníků byly dobré a sestra Judy Pechalová podala zprávu za dozorčí výbor.

Patsy Koslovský podala dobrou zprávu, že měla přítomno 39 mladých členů, jednoho návštěvníka a jednoho dospělého člena. "Youth Fest bude 22. září a "Halloween" večírek bude 27. října.

Narozeniny budou slavit Emil Hejl, Alice Sodek a paní Řezníček.

Výročí sňatku budou slavit pan a paní Leo Kahlig, Albert a Dana Glaser a Gilbert a Elvern Frenzel.

Losování vyhráli Leo Kahlig, Agnes Trampota, Julia Vítek a Janel Novosad.

Po schůzi jsem měli dobrou svačinku. Příští schůze bude 6. října ve 2 hodiny odpoledne.

Vážení bratři a milé sestry!

Pravidelná schůze našeho řádu se konala dne 5. září 1991. President Ted · Kocián přivítal přítomné a po přísaze vlajce jsme uctili minutou ticha památku zemřelých sester Rose Girar<lové, která zemřela 20.července 1991 a Albíny kacířové, která zemřela 22. července 1991 a byla zasloužilou členkou našeho řádu společně se svým manželem Georgem. Pamatuji, že bratr Kacíř jako advokát posloužil řádu v mnohých otázkách právnické povahy a byl také dobrým společníkem. Sestra Albína po jeho smrti pracovala po dlouhé roky v Revisním výboru a dobrovolně sepisovala seznam členů, kteří pracovali pro dobročinnost a počet hodin odpracovaných jednotlivými členy. Její práce bude jistě chybět u našeho řádu.

Za nepřítomnou sekretářku Ann Emeryovou, která byla i s manželem Johnem, naším vicepresidentem, mimo město, přečetla zápis z minulé schůze sestra Maxine Šefčíková. Zápis byl schválen tak, jak byl čten.

Mezi dopisy, které přišly na adresu řádu, bylo mimo jiné i poděkování od rodiny Albíny Kacířové za kartu a

pěknou kytici květů, pozvání na oslavy u řádu 92, dále pozvání na taneční zábavu s deseti harmonikáři v Expo Centru, další dopisy obsahovaly pozvánky na oslavy u jiných 'řádů a upozornění, že do 1. listopadu 1991 se má určit nejlepší bratrský pracovník roku.

Finanční zprávu podala sestra Max­ ine Šefčíková a novou členkou se stala Luana S. Vaňová a přidali si pojišstění Johnny J. Mynář III, Teresa R. Mynářová a Jeremy Todd Veselka.

Všechny tyto pojistky prodal anebo vyřídil náš úspěšně pracující řádový agent bratr Freddie Kaluža. Zároveň jsme se dověděli, že šest členů rodiny Markovy se přestěhovalo a přihlásilo k řádu č. 18 v Elginu, TX. Další dva členové se přihlásili k řádu č. 6, Moravští bratři v Cottonwood, TX. Bratr president přečetl dopis od fin.-tajěmníka naší jednoty Mikuláše o počty delegátů od našeho řádu a že se celostátní konvence bude konat ve městě Victoria v polovině června 1992.

Bratr Kaluža přečetl zprávu o našem finančním stavu a ukázalo se, že máme dostatek peněz v místních bankách na úrocích. Nemáme takřka žádné příjmy a rovněž i výdaje a tak připisují banky úrok a částka se pěkně množí.

Sestra Maxine Sefčíková vzpomněla na oslavu 96. narozenin sestry Markové v Domově důchodců ve Westu, kde bylo přítomno veliké množství lidí a sestra Marková vyjádřila vděčnost za návštěvu členům našeho řádu. President Kocián přečetl dopis od vice presidenta naší jednoyt bratra Gebaly o školení pojišťovacích agentů u řádu .č.6 v Cottonwoodě dne 9.září 1991. Sestra Maxine Šefčíková přečetla dopis od rodiny sestry Kacířové, která oznamovala řádu, že našla v pozůstalostsi klíč od schránky v bance. Členstsvo se usneslo dát padesát dolarů na koupi piána pro domov důchodců v Taylor.

President Kocián upozornil, že přestavba a úprava síně je prospěšná jak po stránce vzhledu, tak i po stránce výdělku a proto by bylo by dobré pomoci Sokolům po finanční stránce.

Od nové výzdoby je síň více pronajatá a tím také více vydělává. Změny jsou v podstatě ukončeny, nyní bude třeba dodělávat jenom drobné věci. Bude nutné si poznačit dne 13. října 1991 na kalendáři, kdy bude oběd v Lone Star Hallu a ostatní řády mohou se Sokolem něčím přispět do aukce. Bratr Rudy Šefčík připomenul, že dne 5. října 1991 bude hrát v síni kapela Pražských muzikantů, vstupné je 8 dolarů.

Další důležitou akcí bude výroční schůze dne 1. listopadu 1991 a v té se uskuteční volby a všichni členové jsou již nyní srdečně zváni a doufám, že se dostaví v hojném počtu. Pak dne 8. prosince v neděli začne ve tři hodiny vánoční program, pak bude večeře, členové mají přinést jenom zákusky. V listopadové výroční schůzi se dokončí přípravy na vánoční besídku a jaké budou výhry.

Před ukončením naší schůze vyhrál losování náš president Ted Kocián a pak se členstvo dobře pobavilo a posvačilo chutné obložené chlebíčky.

Je to jenom škoda, že i ostatní členové č.

a členky si nemohly pochutnat na tak dobrém jídle. Když přijdete do příští schůze, můžete také něco pojíst a nebudete litovat. Hlavní věc je, aby člověk nezapomněl a přišel na schůzi.

Opakuji ještě jednou, že výroční schůze bude 1. listopadu 1991 a pak bude následovat vánoční pobavení dne 8. prosince 1991, začátkem října při­ jedou Pražšstí muzikanti a pak v polovině října bude v Lone Star Hall oběd s malou aukcí. To se máme na něco těšit.

Rád číslo 133, San Antonio Milé sestry a bratři: Naše minulá schůze se konala v neděli 18.srpna. Bylo přítomno 32 členů. Schůzi zahájil bratr Anthony Trilíček, president našeho řádu, ve 2 hodiny odpoledne. Všichni úředníci byli přítomni, jenom naše tajemnice, sestra Jarolyn Poppová, nemohla přijít protože musela vzít její děti do klubu mladeže; měli nějakou soutěž u jiného řádu. Bratr Emil Matula (Jarolyn otec) zaujal její místo. Přečetl zprávy z minulé schůze a podal finanční zprávy a vše bylo přijato beze změny.

Bratr Emil Matula navrhl, abychom zvolili Jaroslava a Marcelu Kleprlikovy čestnými členy našeho řádu dozivatně, bylo to podporováno sestrou Doris Moczygembovou a všichni přítomní členi to schválili. Také bylo rozhod­ nuto, aby dostávali "Věstník" po zbytek jejich živo tu . Sedesát devět "stipendií" (každé $500.) - bylo darováno studentům od SP JST v tom­ to roce.

Naše české museum má více návštsěvníků tento rok.

Schůze 7. okrsku bude v říjnu a náš řád bude hostem.

Svatební výročí v měsíci srpnu slavili Anthony a Alma Triliček-54 roků a Emil a Grace Rohan-50 roků. Sestra Viola Kurtzová připnula krásnou květinu na šaty (corsage) sestry Rohanové a bratr Rohan dostal kvítek na límec (buttoniere.) Bratr Matula je vyfotil, tak uvidíte jejich obrázek ve Věstníku. Přejeme jim k jejich zlaté svatbě mnoho štěstí a zdraví!

Nebylo nic více na jednání tak já jsem navrhla, aby schůze byla skončena a bylo to podporováno sestrou Almou Triličkovou.

Dnešní můj vzpomínkový článek na velikého· olomoukého arcibiskupa, lidumila, politika, poslance a senátora ve svobodném Československu po první světové válce, Antonína Cyrila Stojana byl sepsán k příležitosti 140 výročí jeho narozenin letos dvaadvacátého května.

Během mé letoší jarní návštěvy ve staré vlasti jsem se zastavil -- den předtím, v úterý 21. května -- u něho, na Velehradě v královské kapli, kde tento pokorný sluha Páně odpočívá ve­ dle moravského markraběte Jindřicha Vladislava (bratra českého krále Přemysla Otakara I), jež založil původní velehradský klášter v roce 1205.

Jak již zmíněno, Antonín Cyril Sto­ jan se narodil 22. května 1851, ve vesnici Beňově, u mého rodného města Přerova, v rodině chudého domkáře.

Do obecné školy chodil v Horní Moštěnici, která je nyní městýs, vzdálený od Přerova 4 kilometry jižně, 'zatímco z Beňova, ležícího od mého rodného města jihovýchodním směrem, jeto o pár kilometrů víc.

Potom studoval ve Staré Vodě u Budiškova, v Jesenících, severovýchodně od Olomouce, východně od Moravského Berouna.

Pak přešel na studia do Příbora a nakonec do Kroměříže, zvané hanácké Athény. Toto město se nachází od Přerova necelých 20 kilometrů, jihozápadním směrem. Do roku 1876 studoval bohosloví v Olomouci, zvané hanácký Řím. (Jelikož mé české články v texaském krajanském tisku jsou především určeny čechoameričanům . tu rozeným, tak si dovoluji uvést tuto gramatickou připomínku: Kroměříž a Olomouc mohou být mužského anebo ženského rodu; v tomto článku, jak vidno z textu, dávám oběma městům ženský rod.) Tu, v hanáckém Římě', v přeplněné katedrále sv. Václava byl Ant. C. Stojan s dalšími bohoslovci vysvěcen na kněze arcibiskupem Fiirstenbergem ve svátek slovanských věrozvěstů Cyrila a Metoděje, 5. července 1876. Venku se červencové slunce · činilo, aby barevným oknem nad hlavním oltářem proudilo duhové světlo na velký kříž. A zbytek chrámového prostoru rozjasňovaly svíce, symbol duchovního života, který se stravuje pro slávu Boží. Jen pod žebrovím gotické klemby se temnily stíny, ke kterým stoupala vůně z kaditelnice. Za vysokými, umělecky tepanými mřížemi, které oddělovaly kněžiště od hlavní lodi, pěkně se vyjímaly fialové kanovnické mozety v krásně vyřezávaných lavicích.

Mezi budoucími, kteří leželi před oltářem pokorně tváří k zemi, byli také přátelé Antonín Cyril Stojan a Jan Mlčoch. Jejich velký společný cíl docházel naplnění. Budou sluhy Kristovými. Bude to závažný krok do

nového života. První krok ke svatosti nebo k zavržení.

Pane, nechť je má budoucí kněžská činnost zkušebním kamenem, jsem-li křesťanem celým anebo jen invalidní dušička, která se opírá o berličky vnější důstojnosti. Dej mi sílu, Pane, abych odhodil všechny berly a opřel se jen o Tebe -- modlí se novosvěcenci více srdcem nežli slovy. -Ať hlásám Krista nejen liturgií u oltáře, ale především liturgií každodenního života. Stát se všem vším --- Jsem schopen takovéto celoživotní oběti? Nezastavím se uprosstřed cesty'? Mám mnoho chyb,

Na Hostýn jsem opět zavítal v neděli 12. května, na svátek matek, během mé letoší navštěvyve staré vlasti. Byljsem v mém životě na tomto posvátném mnoho slabostí, ty to víš. Ale víš také, místě alespoň 20 krát a za ty 43 roky co že Tě při vší své ubohosti miluji. Při­ žijí v cizině jsem se tam zastavil jmi mne takového, jaký jsem. Na vlasti. Tento dojemný zvyk byl maminku Buzkovou se usmíval ze zejména rozšířenýna Moravě a ve Slez-» široka, ach, kde jsou ty blažené sku. Sotva se vrátili z Hostýna, sotva se hosté rozjeli domů, přichází důležitá zpráva -- An­ tonín Cyril byl jmenován kaplanem v městečku Šilperku, které se nyní nazývá Štíty a nachází se na severní Moravě. (Městečko Štíty leží západně od města Šumperku, zhruba · na poloviční cestě mezi tímto městem a městem Lanškrounem.)

Páter Stojan jel pátého srpna 1876 na svou první štaci se srdcem rozechvělým. Dopis od tamějšího faraře byl však přívětivý, snad si budou rozumět. V Zábřehu měl potíže se sehnáním povozu, aby nemus ii šlapat -- dle mého odhadu -- víc jak 17 kilometrů do Šilperku čili do Štítů v prachu silnice. Konečně našel kočár i ochotného k němu kočího. Mladý kaplan se pak vezl jako pán, jemuž přes 2 hodiny proťukává rytmus koňskýchkopyt utěšenýpohled do kra­ je. Země se mu před očima zeleně vlnila v kopcích a dolinách, od lesů vanul svěžívzduch. (Tu, v tomto okolí, Jeseníky splývají s Českomoravskou vysočinou, která pak na svém severu navazuje na Orlické hory v Čechách.)

Pojednou se na obzoru objevily věže kostela. "To už je Šilperk," kočí se otočil na pátera Antonína. Mladý kněz se za zády kočího zmohl jen na povz­ dech sv. Františka Saleského -- Da animas, tolle cetera! Dej mi duše, ostatní si vezmi, Pane!

Original Prague Brass Band "Prazsti Muzikanti" On Tour In U.S. Through the invitation of Sokol Zizka of Dallas as a cultural exchange, the "Prazsti Muzikanti" Brass Band from Czechoslovakia will be making pe_rformance appearances in the United States and Canada beginning Septem­ ber 13, 1991.

"Prague Musicians Brass Band" is a 1 O-member band which is comprised of professional musicians who are members of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, National Theatre Orchestra, Comic Opera and other renowned or­ chestras.

Their tour started in Detroit, Michigan on September 13, 1991 .and will continue through Ohio, Canada, Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Texas, Louisiana and completes in New York on October 20, 1991.

The band has toured Germany, Austria, and Italy with outstanding success. Their performance includes a mixture of Czech, Moravian and Slovak songs of yesteryear as well as from the present.

The Prague Musicians Brass Band is part of an extensive cultural progam in which her excellency, Rita Klimová, Czechoslovak ambassador .to the United States, her staff, and also a delegation from Brno led by Mayor Vladimir Mencl will participate at the State Fair of Texas in Dallas on Czech Day -- Sunday, October 6th.

The band will also perform at other places performing with the first hour being a concert show and the remainder will be dance music. Witness the dinosaur. Being big didn't save him. In fact, it probably hastened his demise.

For the dinosaur grew too large for his limited brain. As a result, signals took too long to get from one part of the body to another. In the end, he simply couldn't respond quickly enough to change. · The real issue - then and now - is flexibility. Adapting to a changing, often confusing, environment.
