SEMINAR HELD AT LODGE 88, HOUSTON

The spring sessions of the SPJST Sales Representatives' Continuing Education seminars were held recently in Houston and Needville.

SFR Helen Hegwood, with the assis­ tance of District V Director Louis Hanus, conducted the seminars designed to promote advanced insight into the modem types of insurance and how they meet SPJST members' needs more ~ , ' fully. ' . '

Continuing Education for fraternal organizations is not required by the Texas Board of Insurance, but to better serve the membership, the SPJST re­ quires its agents to take six hours of classroom education per year to remain in active status.

Three Supreme Lodge officers, President Howard Leshikar, Secretary­ Treasurer Leonard Mikeska and Legal Advisor Sidney Kacir visited this meeting briefly after the meeting con­ vened and later excused themselves after words of encouragement and· input.

Publication Committee members dis­ cussed the SPJST By-laws pertaining to their responsibilities and the Vestnik, also what, improvements could be made to improve the publica­ tion. There have not been any com­ plaints from the average membership in the last 3 or so years.

The increase in postage was dis­ cussed and members requested answers from the editor. This editor reported to the Publication Committee that the Vestnik was printed on 20 pages instead of 16 pages five times during 1990.

Minutes of the Publication Commit­ tee meeting by Secretary Melvin Skrabanek will be more complete in the future.

Wednesday, April 10th this editor attended the Supreme Lodge quarterly meeting. During the reports of some of our Supreme Lodge officers, it was surprising to hear. about a few local lodges and their officers who do not submit the required reports to the Home Office. Some of these reports (or copies of them) are required to be sent to our Supreme Lodge officers for their records.

Local lodge officers should pay more attention to these letters and requests from Supreme Lodge that come to them and return these reports, which are required.

In the last few days, a report in the news stated that one of the largest in­ surance companies in the United States (in California) is in bad financial con­ dition and may not be . able to pay its insured clients their benefits because of too much of its assets being in· vested in "junk bonds" •• of no value.

This should make us value our SPJST common sense investing!

••• When the majority of the SPJST lodges were organized, a man of fifty could not look forward to many more years of life. In those days SPJST did not take in anyone past fifty. In those days old age was something that fol­ lowed right after one had grown up to manhood. It was inevitable. In those days parents raised their children with the training to recognize children's responsibility to parents.

Times have changed. Today a man may reach bis retirement at 65, and live ten or fifteen years longer to feel old and very useless. Or he may find his loved ones gone and be left alone to face his declining years. Even our organization admits that a man may live many years past seventy. For. that reason, we insure older people up in age (if insurable).

Not long ago a specialist in the treat­ ment of the aged expressed the opinion that before long normal expectancy of man may be 110 to 125 years. Probab­ ly some people would throw up their bands in horror at the thought of living

so long. That is because they do not know, and they did not prepare them­ selves, how to enjoy living.

Here are some hints which may be of some help to grandparents: Develop a sitting hobby. Learn to enjoy good books; it's never too late to start collecting stamps; putter with pottery; dabble with paints; or learn the art of taking good pictures.

Crocheting or knitting keep idle fingers busy and hearts light. A hobby can be profitable as well as pleasurable, so begin by doing or col­ lecting.

Try to belong to a social group. Get­ ting out and mingling with other people is one sure way of spending a pleasant hour forgetting yourself. If you don't already belong to a sewing circle, woman's club, library friends, hospital auxiliary, etc --- join!

Another suggestion: visit your doc­ tor. The attitude, I'm feeling all right, why have a check up?" isn't advisable at any age. Consultations with a physician regularly will often ferret out small beginnings that can be checked now to avoid trouble later.

Also try not to overeat. Keep your weight within the bounds recom­ mended for your age and stature.

"Overweight puts an added burden on your heart," the fraternal insurance societies tell us, and· who, more than they, are interested in our longevity?

Another good thing is to exercise.

Take a walk daily to enjoy the com­ munity around you, but don't walk too far on hot days. If yours is the job of keeping house, that will be about all the exercise you . will need to keep your muscles in tone. Exercise keeps digestive and elimination systems in proper working order, but don't judge your exercise by what you could do twenty years ago. Take it slow and easy and enjoy it.

Keep up with the world. Read the daily papers, listen to soft music, watch television. Don't allow the rest of the world slip by. Others will enjoy your company if you know what you are talking about. If you are up-to-date on your reports, they will be eager to learn your opinions based on your ex­ perience. Don't be prejudiced, read the opinions of others, listen to what others have to say. Your age gives you no ticket for being right.

Something everyone should do: visit your friends. Don't isolate yourself be­ cause it hurts to see how your friends have changed with the years. Visit them often. Talk about old times; talk about the present world situation.

Some communities have After Seven­ ty, or Over Eighty clubs. You might start one in your town.

The most· important thing is to help others. You can help others and help yourself. Don't hesitate to serve as an officer or on committees when you know you are qualified and have the time that others have not. Helping others will give you a great feeling of satisfaction.

Plan also for the time when you will be alone. We never know when our loved ones will leave us, but planning will soften the blow and eliminate that period of indecision.

And above all: make a will because it is never sufficient to tell your son or daughter. who is to have this or that. A will, stating specifically who is to have your personal possessions as well as real estate, will make sure they reach the intended decisions, and eliminate family quarrels. Make a will, then put it away in a safe deposit box where everyone knows where it is. Forget it, feeling confident that your wishes will be carried out.

by District V members.

President Evelyn Mikeska called the meeting to order followed by the presentation of the United States, Texas and Czech flags by Michelle Linney (88), John Buri (142), and Candace Hale (196). The National Anthem was sung by Fred Buri (142) and the Czech National Anthem was sung by Helen Hegwood (88).

Lodge 196 President Zdenek Nedbalek thanked everyone for coming out on such a beautiful day and encouraged all to enjoy their visit. · District V 1st Vice President Montie Baldwin thanked Lodge 196 for hosting the District V meeting and provid­ ing a good meal. He then recognized guests present, namely, Brother Sidney Kacir, Legal Advisor from the Home Office, and Thomas and Maria Cerovsky, Gloria Hobdy and Allen Wood. Eight lodges in District V were represented.

A memorial service honoring deceased members was presented. A red, white and blue flower arrange­ ment with 5 candles was provided by Lodge 196. The candles were lit while the list of deceased members was read

Rest Homes in Needville and Taylor both are 100 percent occupied and have installed computers for reduction of paperwork. Taylor has a new ad­ ministrator, Woodie Richard.

Brother Hanus then commented on the two new youth clubs, Lodge 196 and Lodge 172; Lodge 88 and Lodge 142 are still going strong.

DYC Marie Stayton announced that Lodge 196 now has a youth club and this means growth for the lodge. Mrs. Stayton then recapped the district youth activities for the past year. Dates -4.· to remember: YLR will be March 1517, LIT Retreat - June 7-9 at Val Verde, District Training Class at Lodge 88, Easter Party - March 23 at 2:00 p.m., YAD - June 23 at Lodge 88 - program at 1:00 p.m., Camp at Val Verde with District VII - June 27, leaving from Lodge 88 at 9:00 a.m. by bus. Next year all districts will be Youngest member, Sharon Moore, camping together, 400 to 500 youth, at daughter of Michael and Julie Moore and granddaughter of Ruth Camp Country near La Grange; also and J.D. Dear Readers: President Johnnie Krizan held our April meeting on March 24, 1991.

Our guests included Naomi Hrabal, Veronica Hrabal, Angie Grooms and Cliffie Mae Davis.

All reports were given and approved.

FAC Robert Dobecka reported that our worksheets are due. There will be a State Horseshoe Tournament at New Tabor on April 27th.

Youth Leader Willie Mae Schuetz reported they took cakes to West Rest Haven on April 3rd. In craft they made I ceramic rabbits and Easter baskets. An Easter party, program and egg bunt were held. Bobby Dobecka was in charge of the rabbit. Tammi Dobecka, Sharon Hrabal, Veronica Hrabal, Kevin Dobecka, and Keith Hykel were in charge of the hunters. St. Paul's Church had sunrise services at 7 a.m.

On April 7 is youth leaders' training class. The youth will be making crafts for Mother's Day. They are working on the scrapbook. June 23 will be YAD at our Lodge No. 6, Cottonwood.

Birthdays for April are Stacy Mynar and Keith Hykel.

Brother Raymond Marek reported on the Czech Heritage Club. He thanked the membership for the use of our han.

They started a new chapter in this area with 35 members. Brother Marek also thanked the workers for that day.

President Johnnie Krizan presented Sister Willie Mae Veselka a 50-year membershippin.

President Krizan thanked all the cooks for cooking our Easter meal.

Brother Cyrill Svrcek won the $5 door prize. Brother Kenneth Kucera's name was drawn for the $5 progressive door prize (not present).

Veronica Hrabal won the prize donated by Sister Ruth Krizan. Josie Mae Straten won the prize donated by the Bill Skerlks. Sister Willie Mae Schuetz won the prize donated by the youth club. Christine Svrcek won the prize donated by the Robert Dobeckas.

The minutes of the February 18, 1991meeting were read and approved.

In the final judging she was awarded overall winner for camp T-shirt design. Lodge No. 47, Seaton 50-Year Pins Awarded President Reese called the April 6th meeting to order. The Pledge of Al­ legiance was recited following the presentation of flags by Gary Skrabanek and Amy Kohutek. While still standing, the members had a mo­ ment of silent prayer in remembrance of our deceased members and friends: Hattie Mikulas and Will Marek.

In addition to over 80 members present, the following people were welcomed as visitors: Gertrude Kahlig, Ann Balusek, Freddie Schroeder and Supreme Lodge Secretary-Treasurer Leonard Mikeska and his wife, Dorothy.

FAC Ruth Hanusch reminded everyone of the state horseshoe tourna­ ment, April 27 at Lodge 17, New Tabor; 6 teams/lodge may enter. At the April 19 Social Night, Sister Ruth will teach wreath making. For this unique craft, please bring 2 yards of material, pinking . shears and a phillips screwdriver.

Youth Leader Patsy Koslovsky reported that 37 youth, 5 visitors and 1 O adults were in attendance. She reminded everyone of the upcoming May Fete, May 18.

On May 5, the youth will attend Lodge 29 Taylor's May Fete. The regular youth meeting will be Friday, May 10, 6:30 p.m.

After the onset of the Persian Gulf War, the youth corresponded with Sgt. John F. Mitchell, nephew of Treasurer Lucy Mihatsch. Prayers for a safe return home were answered because Sgt. Mitchell is now back with his family! He wrote a letter. to the youth

which Patsy read. Even more wonder­ ful -- Sgt. Mitchell was visiting our lodge; he was welcomed with a stand­ ing ovation. He presented a plaque to Lodge 47 for its support during the Gulf War. The members approved all plans for the picnic thus far.

Former Star Hall President Brother Frank Hejl made a donation to cover all travel expenses for the Dallas Czech Concert Orchestra -- the scheduled entertainment for the picnic.

The members applaud and thank Brother Hejl for this generosity.

Any person(s) interested in the mowing/maintenance of Star Hall's grounds can tum in .a sealed bid to the board for consideration.

A work day is set for April 20th at 8:00 a.m.

Dallas Circle Of Czech Women Our April meeting was called to order by President Bertha Podhrasky.

Helen Oates gave a report of Hannah Frances, her new granddaughter (daughter of Diane and Eddie Oates).

She weighed 2 pounds and 5 3/4 oun­ ces at birth and now she weighs 2 pounds and 8 ounces. She said she is gaining and doing good. She is a "Small Bundle of Joy" says Grandmother Helen.

Correspondence included thank you card from the Sophie Olsowski family for donation to the Heart Association.

A note from Irene. Halouska stating she wants to resign from the Krouzek since she now lives in California and doesn't expect to return to Dallas.

Gilbert Kalich gave a report on his wife, Bessie. He said she was in good spirits and doing good. She welcomes any visitors.

Rose Kopecek reported that Dallas Krouzek was formed April 13, 1935; that was 56 years ago. A lot has been accomplished in the years. May we have 50 more years.

Sokol Zizka sent a $300 check for the pledge we sent them. It was voted to return the check and interest to Sokol for use of the building for our meetings.

Announcements: A reception for Ambassador from Czechoslovakia to the United States, Rita Klimova, will be held April 19, 1991 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at SPJST Lodge 84. We voted to give a Texas-shaped plaque from .the Krouzek to be presented to Rita Klimova by our President Podhrasky.

Czech Culture Society meeting will be April 29, 1991 at Sokol.

Donations were made in memory of Charlie Nemec by Henry and Evelyn Cechan, John and Evelyn Trojacek, Gilbert and Bessie Kalich. Donation in memory of Sophie Olsowski was made

by Gilbert and Bessie Kalich. A dona­ tion of $3 from Alice Roberts, $2 from Rose Waller, $1 from Marie Fitz to the Krouzek.

Door prizes were furnished by Evelyn Cechan, Millie Noska, Evelyn Salac, Faye Wright, Lillian Moran. We . voted not to have the door prizes--ooly the other prizes.

We voted to send> $50 and Con­ gratulations to Ennis Sokol Activity Center opening.

From The Youth Leader Lodge 6, Cottonwood Youth Meeting And Easter Program Dear Members and Friends, The youth club meeting was held March 24, 1991 and it was well at­ tended. After the meeting the youth had a short Easter program which con­ sisted of the following: Easter Welcome Greeting by Youth Leader A Big Welcome by Susan Hrabal Or Progam by Samantha Hrabal A Smiling Sunbeam by Celia Dobecka Eastertime by Tammi Dobecka This Is The Way by Sharon Hrabal After our program we had an egg hunt and there were quite a few youngsters hunting Easter eggs. The prize egg winners were: O to 4 age group -- Emma Straťen, lst; Traci Dobecka, 2nd and Tye WilIiams, 3rd.

5 to 8 age group -- Jared Oder, 1st; Jennifer Mechell, 2nd and Raymond Ondrej, 3rd.

9 to 12 age group -- Brittaney Halamík, 1st; Ricky Soukup, 2nd and Betsy Straten, 3rd place.

They all had lots of fun hunting eggs.

The youth did well on their money making project.

The Easter supper was also well- attended and it was good. Thanks to the people who prepared this supper. All of you did a good job. I also want to thank everyone who helped with the rabbit. Thanks to all of you I On March 24 the youth brought Easter,baskets.to Rest Haven. On April

3rd they brought a cake to the rest home.

We will start working on Mother's Day gifts and on our scrapbook.

The youth leaders' training was held April 7 at Lodge 84 and District III spring meeting was held at Lodge 154 on April 14th.

Lodge 25, Ennis YC Plans Activities Dear Vestnik Readers, SPJST Lodge No. 25 Youth Club held a meeting on April 3, 1991. It was called to order at 7:10 p.m. by Presi­ dent Brian Holland.

The business discussed was the upcoming Polka Festival on May 4th and 5th. All members need to tell Linda if and when they can't help sell popcorn.

Also, members of our .youth club are selling tickets for a pancake supper at McDonald's on May 28, 1991. Be watching for us!

Our theme for this month's meeting was "Backwards." Members were to dress backwards then walk: in through • the door backwards. It was a lot of fun.

The president adjourned the meeting at 7:30 p.m, Everyone stayed for a game of "backwards relay" and refreshments.

There will be a regional winner and four runners-up in two age divisions: 13, 14, 15 and 16, 17, 18. The winner in each age division will receive a $1,000 Savings Bond, an all expense paid trip to Fort Worth to compete in the State Pageant at Texas Christian University, and two full-tuition modeling scholarships from Barbizon and John Robert Powers, each worth $1,000. Our Senior East Texas TeenAger will also receive a full-tuition scholarship to Mary Hardin-Baylor, worth $4,000, a scholarship to Wayland Baptist University, among other schools. The East Texas TeenAger Pageant will also be awarding over $29,000 in tuition scholarships from various universities during the pageant weekend. Every contestant will receive a $200 scholarship to both Barbizon and John Robert Powers Schools of Modeling.

Miss Julianne Pylant of Conroe, -the. reigning Miss East Texas- National Teen-Ager, was chosen Miss Texas in June, and was crowned Miss National Teen-Ager at the National Pageant in August. Julianne has received over $12,000 in cash for college and $35,000 in tuition scholarships. Miss Dee Ann Bums of Centerville is our reigning Miss Junior East Texas National Teen-Ager.

Each contestant accepted has the option to participate in the Volunteer Community Service Program of the National Teen-Ager Pageant. This program teaches teenagers to share and to participate in school and civic activities. Contestants will be judged on scholastic achievement, leadership, appearance, and poise-personality. There is no swimsuit competition. Talent may be presented at the option of the participant or an oral essay on the sujbeet of "What's Right About America."

Miss Stephanie Roye is being sponsored by Multi-Fab Metals, First National Bank, Ultra Photo, and Wal-Mart. Her hobbies include playing the piano, dancing, playing sports, and spending time with friends and family.

A third day after our arrival to the "Westward Ho" camp several of us went by bus to explore the historical city of York. While riding towards our goal I was taken so much by the never to be forgotten sight of this walled city, that I camped twice more there to enjoy its medieval beauty and to learn more of its ancient history. During my visits I always walked on the walls; their circuit is more than 2 1/2 miles and the encircled area is divided by the river Ouse. The larger sections of ram­ parts are located on the left bank of this stream. There was no charge or entrance fee to get on and walk on these well-preserved walls contrary to walk on the city wall in Dubrovnik, Yugoslavia, called Ragusa by Romans, where one had to pay twice at two dif­ ferent places right on the walls. During my visits at York I also meditated in its churches, in particular at St. Peter's Minster.

While at the "Westward Ho" contract camp near by, we were, from time to time, offered through the interpretors (in German or Polish) different jobs at the Labour Exchange. (called the Un­ employment Office in the good old USA) at the former flight buildings.

When our Czech group arrived most of the jobs offered to us by the Labour • Exchange at that time were in coat' mining or in digging the tunnels throOghu the mountains in Scotland.

After a while the job market ("Westward Ho" contract work) widened, henceforth most of our group signed up for farming, while six of us, myself included, volunteered to work for the Thames Conservancy Co. at its regional headquarters in the university city of Oxford. We traveled there by train with "Westward Ho" guide two days late, and were accommodated with other Czech and Slovak refugees working already at the neighborhood farms in the excellent camp called Hartcourt Hill Hostel at the end of the city busline. Its population in 1948 was about 100,000. While in Bradford, I discovered on a detailed Yorkshire map a settlement of Fulneck, which reminded me of Moravian Fulneck in the old country.

When we traveled there we found out that the English Fulneck was founded at the latter stage of the Thirty Years War by the religious exiles from the old country. The settlement was visited by Jan Amos Komenský (Comenius) in 1641-42, when he was invited to England to reform its school system. British Fulneck is a seat of the Moravian Brethem College and Gram-

The Czech langauge has been gone from there . long time but our heritage is preserved there by a nice bust of great Komenský, by several oil paintings and by notes in the school books and prayer books .. Although this settlement was visited from time to time by mem­ hers of the Czech armed forces in Britain during the WW II, we were -­ according to the headmaster of Fulneck's schools - the first Czechs 'visíting there since 1945.

Znám ovšem hochy, kteří dovedou starati se o malé děti v rodině lépe než dívka, a naopak, leckterá dívka je kurážnější než hoch. Ale budiž. Povězme si nyní ještě, co dovedou děvčata dělati právě tak dobře jako chlapci: Laskavě spolu mluviti, ušlechtile se baviti, navzájem si pomáhati, ujmouti se toho, komu se ubližuje, pomáhali tatínkovi a mamince. Vůbec myslím, že každou dobrou věc může stejně konat hoch jako dívka a že, co není zrovna pěkné pro chlapce, nesluší ani děvčeti, a naopak. Proti každé vlastnosti, v níž vynikají hoši, najdeme snadno neméně cennou přednost u dívek a obráceně.

Ano, jistě se všichni shodneme v tom, že děvče je tak dobré jako hoch, hoch je tak dobrý jako dívka, sestra je tak dobrá jako bratr, bratr je tak dobrý jako sestra. v

Brnu. Toť jest arci těžká ale nesmírně důležitá otázka pro celou budoucnost národa našeho, a můžeme říci, že ona rozhodne vlastně, máme-li zahynouti nebo ve slávětrvati. Vidímeťzajisté, že každý z našich tří kmenů, český, moravský a slezský, sám pro sebe jen těžce odolá silným nepřátelům svým, spojeni však, byli bychom jistě národem silným a ctihodným, jenž by důstojně státi mohl vedle sousedů svých."

Karel Havlíček dokázal situaci nejen přesně analyzovat, ale také ukázat ces­ ty, které k požadovanému cíli, jednotě národa vedou. Poslechněme si je: "Abychom toto spojení usnadnili, pronášíme zde následující mínění své.

Morava ať především o to dbá, by si tolik práv a tolik svobody vydobyla, co již my v Čecháchmáme. Ať především se postará také o takovu autonamii, jako my čechové již máme ať je samostatná země ve spolku Rakouském, jako budeme my, Čechové, pak až si všeho toho vybobudete, ať si mezi sestrami českou a Moravskou vyjednávají, ctějí-li býti mezi sebou úžeji spojeny, nebo nic. (Poznámka pisatele: Nezapomeňme, že Havlíckovy úvahy jsou z revolučního roku 1848, který otřásl habsburským Rakouskem.

Stejně jak Havlíček přemýšlel během svého exilu v alpském Brixenu o vzájemném poměru moci a práva, tak Moravané přemýšlejí v nynějším svobodném Československujak docílit svou zemskou samosprávu jak ex­ istovala za předmnichovské demokratické republiky. Z těchto důvodů vznikla po sametové revoluci· Mora.vo !

O moravských právech se rozepsal již Karel Havlíček Borovský v souboru Milé sestry a bratři: jeho čtyř článků Naše politika z dubna Naše březnová schůze, která se 1848. Pokusme se Havlíčkovi konala v neděli 17. začala podaváním porozumět. chutného oběda ve 12 hodin 30 minut.

Moravo, Moravo, Moravěnko milá, kdo z tebe pochází, chasa ušlechtilá, chasa ušlechtilá, žádostivá boje!

A jaké potomstvo rodí půda tvoje, a jaké potomstvo rodí půda tvoje!

Moravo, Moravo, tvá orlice pestrá, byla českého lva vždy upřimná sestra!

Vždy upřimná sestra, budiž jí i dále, máme hrdinského i dobrého krále.

Moravo, Moravo, Moravěnko milá! kdo z tebe pochází, chasa ušlechtilá,....,. chasa ušlechtilá žadostivá Boje! A jaké to koňstvo rodí půda tvoje, a jaké to koňstvo rodí půda tvoje! strana Moravy nazývající se Hnutí za samosprávnou demokracii Společnost pro Moravu a Stezko. K zjednodušení svého dlouhého jména používá tato politická strana svých in­ iciál: HSD-SMS. V rámci mého dnešního článku "Morava a její práva" podívejme se nyní na přiloženou národní píseň "Moravo, Moravo---." V druhé sloce tohoto moravského hymnu se zpívá o sestersképříbuznosti moravské orlice k českému lvu.

Pokrevní svazky tohoto druhu založenyna opravdové rovnoprávnosti mají své výhody a své povinnosti. Za první republiky Morava s naším Slez­ skem měla s Čechami úplnou rovnoprávnost jelikož měla své zemské úřady a další samosprávu tak jak se sluší a patří v rovnoprávném sester­ skobratrském svazku. Nebylo tudíž· potřebí mít stranu Moravy bojující za tato práva.

Situace je teď však jiná a strana Moravy HSD-SMS je teď nutná, jelikož Morava hrála od neblahého února 1948 velmi podřadnou roli v českomoravském svazku. Podíváme-li se blíže na omezování moravských práv během jednačtyřiceti let komunistické diktatůry, tak hned narazíme na datum 17. listopadu 1960, kdy tehdejšími mocipány byl po téměř osmi stech letech zrušen moravský a · slezský znak ze státní symboliky Československé republiky. Tehdy, víc jak před třiceti lety, zanikly též barvy moravského praporu, žlutá a červená.

Z vědomí Moravanů a Slezanů měly být tak vymazányposlední -- i kdyžjen . formální -- atributy někdejší .. · samosprávné demokracie a tím i vzpomínka na svébytnost obou zemí.

Už jedenáct let před tím, k 1. lednu 1949, byla zrušena zeměMoravskoslez­ ská, a tím si totalitarismus uvolnil cestu k bezbřehému centralismu.

Pozdější "federativní" uspořádaní mělo za skutečný cíl zastřít ovládání české a slovenské republiky z jednoho ústředí, a tak je logické, že ani v tomto systému nemohly mít Morava a Slez­ sko své rovnoprávné místo. Teď, kdy Moravané a Slezané se mohou ve staré

vlasti volně přihlásit k myšlence samosprávné demokracie, připomeňme si jeden z atributů -­ moravské zemské barvy.

Poprve se s nimi setkáváme na zlomu 13. a 14. století. Tehdy bývala znakem Moravy vpravo (heraldicky,tj. podle nositele štítu) hledící stříbrně (nebo bíle) a červeněšachovaná orlicev modrém poli, se zlatou královskou korunou a zbrojí (zobák a pařáty) a s červeným jazykem. Roku 1462 (za vlády husitského krále Jiřího z Poděbrad 1458-1471) pomáhaly moravské oddíly císaři BedřichoviIII v boji proti Rakušanům a zemský he­ jtman Jindřich z Lipé si za tuto pod­ poru vyžádal "vylepšení" znaku Moravy. Císařské privilegium tedy změnilo bílou barvu ve žlutou, takže šachování orlice od tohoto roku bylo zlato - červené. Český král Jiří z Poděbrad, jako lenní pán Moravy, v tomto aktu viděl však nepřípustný zásah do svých práv, a tak zmíněné "vylepšení" nejen neschválil, ale nařídil používat pouze původní bílo-červené šachování. Český král však nakonec privilegium přece jen schválil: po sto sedumdesáti letech v roce 1628 (během Třicetileté valky (1618-1648),a to v osobě císaře Fer­ dinanda II, který - ať se nám to líbí nebo ne -- byl současně i panovníkem ve staré vlasti. Od tohoto roku je legální barva orlice žluto-červená.

Ostatně i sami Moravané odmítali bílo - červenou, považujíce ji za nepřiměřený projev závislosti Moravy na Čechách, jimž chtěli být rovnoprávným partnerem a ne "vedlejší zemí Českého království," jak se tehdy v Praze naší Moravěnce říkalo. Přesto však byla bílo .. červeně šachovaná orlice roku 1836 zařazena do znaku rakouské monarchie, což vyvolalo protest moravské šlechty.

Císařská kancelář ve Vídni sice v erbu starou barevnost ponechala, ale povolila na Moravě používání zemského znaku se žluto-červenou orlicí. Dvojkolejnost tedy přetrvávala i nadále. Moravský znak v této podobě schválili sněm v revolučnímroce 1848, který také určil zemské barvy žlutočervené,neboli zlato-červenéi pro prapor. Pozoruhodné je, že modrá barva nebyla nikdy připojována a zůstávalo obvykle při "bikolóře."

Sněmovní vyhlášení tehdy přednesl profesor A.V. Šembera z Olomouce.

Poslanci pak požádali tehdejší rakouské ministerstvo vnitra, aby byla tedy konečně provedena i změna ve velké pečeti rakousko-habsburské monarchie a bílo-červené šachování odstraněno ve prospěch žluto-červeného.

Vídeňské ministerstvo vnitra však žádost poslanců odmítlo s pozoruhodnou argumentací: "změnu takovou nemožno provésti, ježto císařský erb na domech vyslanců v cizích státech může se měniti pouze na základě diplomatického vyjednávání s cizími mocnostmi." A tak zase zůstalo při starém. Zemský výbor s jinými úřady používal vlajky s barvou žlutou a červenou, takže se na Moravě užívalo praporů barev dvojích.

Se změnou orientace od zemského Československou Federativní patriotismu k vlastenectví národnímu, Republiku. Tehdy Čechy, země Morav­ skoslezská, Slovensko i Podkarpatská Děti si sednou vedle sebe, jedno se Rus měly své zemské úřady, podobně postaví před ně a pokouší se rozesmáti jako má každý stát ve Spojených je nějakým žertem slovním nebo státech amerických. To a nic víc žádá posuňky. Děti vzdorují a namáhají se teď opět Morava ve svobodném zůstat vážnými. Kdo se zasměje, vystřídá pokušitele, kterému jsou demokratickém Československu.

Závěrem přikladám pár faktů z povoleny jeden, dva až tři různé Československapo sametové revoluci: pokusy, podle toho, jak se děti smluvi­ ly. Hra je velmi veseláa dobře se při ní Československá Socialistická Republika změněna 23.března 1990 na . ukáže dětská vtipnost a vynalézavost.
