November 10 - December25, 1990 The Supreme Lodge SPJST is sponsoring a Scholarship Fund Drive starting November 10 through December 25, 1990.

The funds received will be used to help members of our Society achieve a higher education. The purpose is to create funds in addition to existing funds; provide more scholarships annually, and to make members aware of the scholarships provided by our Society to our members.

President Rita Vanek called the meeting to order leading the Pledge of Allegiance. A moment of silent prayer for deceased members was held, especially for Marie Michulka who passed away since our last meeting.

Secretary Leona Macha called the roll of officers; all officers were present, except Donna Munoz The minutes of the October 16, 1990 meeting were read and approved.

Correspondence received and read included New Insurance/Annuities and Lapses/Terminations report for October 1990 and information regarding Special Scholarship Drive by Supreme Lodge.

Treasurer Madeline Shimek gave the financial report -- a complete copy of report on file subject to audit.

Reports from officers: FAC Dora Lee Kopecky reported on our Christmas social and meeting to be held on Sunday, December 9th at 2 p.m.

Bennie Reck reported on hall bookings.

Mary Ann Karasek reported on activities of the youth club.

The members agreed to purchase new Christmas tree and ornaments for Lodge No. 40 Hall. Decorating hall and Christmas tree would be Wednesday evening, November 28th.

The members voted to contribute $200.00 to Memorial Hospital, El Campo and $50.00 to Memorial Home Health - Hospice "Celebration of Life" Christmas tree ornaments in honor of living members and in memory of deceased members.

President Rita Vanek appointed James Bacak and Leona Macha, and Vice President Bennie Reck appointed Gene Valigura to the Auditing Committee.

There being no further business the meeting, on motion, adjourned with Bennie Reck winning the door prize.

Everyone was asked to remain standing for a moment of silence for our deceased member, Brother Billy Mac Royals. May he rest in eternal peace.

All officers were present, except Youth Leader Gladys Yates Secretary Bonnie Pruitt read the minutes of our previous meeting and, with a correction, they were approved.

She also read the minutes of the Board of Trustees' meeting and it was approved.

The Entertainment Committee report given by Sister Sophie Leshikar concerned the upcoming Holiday Season; Lodge No. 66 will hold its Christmas Party on Saturday, December 8th. The doors will open at 3 p m and supper will be served at 5 p.m. The youth will present a program and there will be a Lodge visit from Santa. The dance will begin after the program. Members are asked to bring desserts.

Brother Ira Niswanger gave the report on the auditing of books; all were in good order.

Sister Darlene Engelke gave her report on her books.

Youth club report was given by Assistant Diana Engelke; there were fifteen members present at the meeting.

They received a plaque from VFW for the float they entered in their parade.

Resolution of Sympathy was read for our departed member, Brother Billy Mac Royals.

Sister Emma Ceska gave the sick list report. Get well cards were sent to Nicole Pruitt, Cory Pruitt, Louise Matus, Larry Yates, L. A. Hykel, Emil Hanus, Fred Matula, Cindy Riech, Jewel Warhol, Georgie and James Pavlicek; cheer card was sent to George and Maurine Trefny; sympathy card was sent to Billy Mac Royals' family.

Due to the Christmas Holiday Season, we will not have a meeting in December (only our Christmas Party).

Lodge No. 87, Temple Dear Members: SPJST Lodge No. 87, Temple held the regular meeting Friday evening, November 9th at 7 p.m. with President Laths Navratil presiding.

The meeting was called to order and Flag Bearer Ed Reisner led the members in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. Members remained standing in silent tribute to deceased member Bobby E. Bell.

The minutes of our previous meeting were read, also correspondence was read and discussed.

Mary Ann Zatopek gave her report and Kenneth R. Green had additional insurance.

Vice President Jerry Valchar reported on state activities.

Youth Leader Pam Sedita Capps reported on activities of the club. She said the children are busy making tree ornaments and they will also present a musical program for the lodge at the December meeting.

The Christmas meeting will be Friday evening, December 14th beginning at 6:30 p.m. The ladies of our lodge are to bring a covered dish of vegetables, salad and dessert. Turkey and dressing, bread and beverages will be furnished by the lodge. Covered dish meal to be served at 6:30 p.m.

Treats for the children will be provided by the youth club. Santa Claus will be stopping by for a visit so get your'Christmas list ready and be very good!

On November 12, 1990 we had our monthly meeting. The meeting was opened by President Jerry Ermis at 7:30 p.m. The colors were presented

by Darlene and Marlene Migl and Crystal Wallace.

We were indeed saddened by the fol lowing who departed from our flock, namely: George Butchek (74) died November 2, 1990. He was a member of St. John Vianny Church, Knights of Columbus, SPJST Lodge No. 88, and the Pioneer.

He retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughters, Rosemary McLacian of Kansas City and Deanna Parnell of Austin; three grandsons and three granddaughters.

Funeral Mass was celebrated at 9 a.m. at St. John Vianny Church on November 5, and Rite of Committal was at Memorial Oaks Cemetery. Mary and your family have our sincere sympathy.

Mrs. Frank (Helen) Baker, age 73, died on November 6, 1990. She was well-known in this community because she was involved in the Civic Club as editor for a number of years. She was a longtime member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and a member of the Friendship Sunday School class, also president of United Methodist Women, past president of the Heights Rotary Club, and many other organizations.

Mrs. Baker is survived by her husband, Frank; a son, Charles Slagle and daughter, Myrtle Morton; stepson, Ronald Baker and stepdaughter, Suzanne Adams, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was buried from St. Mark's United Methodist Church on November 8 at Woodlavvn Cemetery. Frank and family, you have our sympathy. Helen will be missed.

Others who have departed from us are Vlasta Stasta, who was one of the older members, who worked hard to keep our lodge above water. Mrs. Mmustik, who was the mother of Gloria, only daughter. They are in the accordian business. Gloria's husband, Henry Gerhart, is running the business now after his retirement from the Police Department.

Since our meeting, Brother John Kadlecek died, who is also from a prominent family in Lodge 88. John has been ill for a long while. He is survived by his wife, Frances and one sister, Marie Rezek. His brothers, Ed and Amos, preceded him in death.

All of you have our sympathy. It's hard to give up our loved ones.

Secretary Mildred Holman read the minutes and also correspondence from the Ludvik Dobesh family and the Patsy Baca family.

Mildred also read a letter from Supreme Lodge President Howard Leshikar, asking for $1.00 to the Scholarship Fund that is--from all who are present.

However, Karl Lindemann made a motion, seconded by King Hegwood to keep scholarship at our lodge instead of going to the Supreme Lodge Scholarship. This motion passed.

All the new applicants were accepted. Since we had no new members

present, we didn't have initiation as planned.

The following people were thanked for the work they did for Czech Day, namely: Louis Hanus, Annie Vala, Willie Wehring (who processed the turkeys), Larry Green and his crew (who sliced the turkeys), Rosalee Kostom for decorating and those who helped her were Lowrena Lindemann, Clara and Johnnie Broz. Tim Kostom made a new sign, which is beautiful.

Naomi Kostom, a very important member, who never asks for "Glory," just goes on and works quietly, never refuses a job. She was chosen as "Fratemalist of the Year" for Lodge 88. I'm sure we all agree she is well worth it. A little later, I'll mail in a beautiful resume.

FAC Homer Alexander is another member who works behind the scenes; he had a Defensive Driving course for 28 students. Lodge No. 172 gave him many donations -- (glasses, especially).

Youth Leader B arbara Linney reported December 4, the tree will be decorated, the children are making ornaments. On December 10, 1990 we'll have a Children's Christmas Program.

Mrs. Linney also thanked Helen Kubicek for baking a cake for the youth.

New Year's Eve Dance is December 31st with Manny Green playing. Your reservations have to paid by November 26---only $25.00 a couple.

Men's Club President Ed Miciilka gave a beautiful report on the drawing and the spinning wheel. He highly praised Tom Marsh for doing such a perfect job with the drawing tickets.

He also thanked the others who helped.

Willie Wehring thanked all who helped him with the turkeys.

Naomi Kostom gave the auditor's report; all is well!

Tim Kostom reported on the Choral Group; three Tuesdays a month there are rehearsals, and fourth Wednesday with the band.

Our dear friend, Wm. Souchek, had forty-nine registered at the Czech class; only three more weeks.

Our Lodge No. 177, Academy's November meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by President Bill Hutka.

The pledge was recited by those in attendance and all officers were present.

Sunshine report was given by Libbie Bartek; sympathy cards were sent to the Dollie Mae Rawlins family and to Mr. and Mrs. Louis Driska, Jr. The minutes were approved as read and all chairpersons' reports were good.

Three new members were welcomed into our lodge, those being Patsy Stubblefield, Rick and Marcie Beck. Welcome! Rick and Marcie Beck were in attendance and do come back.

It was a tremendous success due to the all-out effort of our new Youth Leader Barbara Wright. She went to work and printed our flyers, got all the games together and the decorations, asked for help and received it from the members and youth club and then, the night of the party, poor Barbara was too sick to attend so we workers and youth club took over and followed her directions and had a wonderful time.

We workers came in costume and did we have some spooks. The youth club did an outstanding job on the spook house; even I got spooked before it was set up!

No. 133, San Antonio November Meeting

SPJST Lodge No.133, San Antonio held its monthly meeting on November 18, 1990. Thirty-three membes were in attendance. Brother Anthony Trilicek, president, welcomed the members and wished all a Happy Thanksgiving. The members were asked to sign the Thanksgiving cards which were sent to Brother and Sister Jaroslav Kleprlik, Brother and Sister James Kostelnik, and Brother and Sister August Blanar.

A letter from President Howard Leshikar in reference to SPJST scholarships was read. It was decided that Lodge No. 133 would send $25.00 to the fund. Forms were passed out by Brother Bill Pavliska so that individual members might make a donation. Any members wishing to donate to the fund can find a form in the Vestnik.

Sister Viola Kurtz reported that the following members were celebrating November anniversaries: James and Mary Kostelnik (68 years) August and Marie Blanar (68 years) Herman and Julia Kurtz (60 years) William and Gertrude Pavliska (47 years) Joe and Annie Stryk (43 years) Jim and Shirley Burrows (10 years) John and Cynthia Scoggins (15 years) Charlie and Viola Kurtz (5 years) Congratulations to these members.

The fraternal activities chairman reminded everyone to complete their Family Tree forms and also to be working on the forms recording their volunteer work and charitable donations.

The Lodge Christmas Party and Dinner will be held on December 16 at St. Margaret Mary Activity Center. A ham dinner will be served. Members are asked to bring a dessert. There will be a charge for guests. Dinner will be served at 12:30 p.m. and all members are invited to attend. For -information call Anthony Trilicek at 655-1618.

Brother Emil Matula is chairman for the event. Those attending the Christmas Party are asked to bring items that might be given to our members in the nursing home; ideas include hand lotion, Kleenex, soaps, powders, etc.

and so much good food! Everyone really enjoyed themselves.

Everyone should have seen all the hats. I am sure it was difficult for the judges to make a decision, but Rose Nieswiodomy won the prettiest, Imogene Reaves the most ugliest and Frank Tesar got the prize for the silly hat. Frank didn't get to play dominoes that day because he were them on his hat. But I can't forget Dona Hubenak's bull horns that she wore; lots of fun: Our next meeting will be December 11 at 10 a.m. The Circle will furnish ham for our dinner and ladies are asked to bring a covered dish or dessert; also all the ladies who want to play the game and exchange a gift, should be sure and bring a $3 gift.

The hostesses for the day will be Annie Lesikar, Laura Posival, Zana Alldredge and Dona Hubenak.

Most of us had the pleasure of attending Annie and William Lesikar's "60th" wedding anniversary on Saturday, November 24 at Lodge 92. What a beautiful party and everyone had a good time. We wish them many, many more happy years.

Sewing Circle

Our November 8th meeting was on a very rainy day. There were only eleven members present and one visitor, Randy Trojacek. We were short on quilters, therefore, the quilt did not get finished. Sister Sadie Kubin finished it. Thank you, Sadie.

President Sadie Kubin presided at the meeting. The Pledge of Allegiance was repeated. Secretary Georgia Tupy read the minutes. They were approved as read. Treasurer Mildred Trojacek gave the financial report. It was approved as read. Sister Mildred Trojacek gave the Sunshine report. Get well card and a money gift were sent to Sisters Millie Vytopil, Mary Sebestik and Stacie Hejny. Thank you notes were received from Sisters Stacie Hejny and Mary Sebestik. "Happy Birthday" was sung to November birthday celebrants. A birthday card was given to celebrants present.

Quilt was quilted for Sister Helen Vrla.

Our money-making project was a "White Elephant" sale. Each sister present brought an item or more. All items, except two, were sold. I suppose that is what is called a successful project.

Our next meeting will be December 13th. We will have a covered dish luncheon. If you wish, you may bring a hot dish, since we will be able to use the stove. We will exchange gifts.

Please bring a $3.00 gift and put your name on it. Come at 10 o'clock. Our meeting will start shortly after that.

Sister Libbie Wisniewski had surgery at Baylor Hospital in Ennis. She is recuperating at home and doing fine.

Sister Georgia Tupy is taking good care of her. Sister Millie Vytopil is back in the Rebekah Nursing Home in Ennis.

In my last letter, I forgot to mention that Wesley Tupy visited all his children while in Dallas.

We will not have a meeting in January. Our next meeting will be February 14, 1991. Don't forget to pay 1991 dues.

Czech Heritage Society Meeting Held In Rowena The Runnels, Concho and Tom Green Counties Czech Heritage Society of the Concho Valley met Sunday. November 25, 1990 in the SPJST Hall in Rowena.

President Robert Mikeska brought the meeting to order at 2:30 p.m.

Twenty-five members and guests were present.

In the absence of Secretary Neomi Drgac, Vice President Louis Kokes read the minutes. Pauline Shiller was appointed to serve as recording secretary for the day.

Treasurer Waldine Luedtke gave the November bank balance.

President Mikeska asked Pauline Shiller for a report on publicity for the Society.

The president then called on Vice President Kokes for his report. Mr. Kokes reminded everyone that membership dues were to be paid now.

The following officers were reelected by acclamation: President--Robert Mikeska Vice President--Louis Kokes Day (newlySecretary--Nancy elected) Treasurer--Waldine Luedtke Reporter--Pauline Shiller Directors for Runnels County-Elizabeth Walther and Eddie Mae Huebner (newly-elected) Concho County--Stanley Broz and another to be appointed Tom Green County--Leona Dorotik and one other to be appointed New members are Leona Mesecke of San Angelo and Ben Hejl of Ballinger.

A meeting will be called on January 27, 1991 to make plans for a special spring meeting.

Out-of-town guests were Betty and Hilary Nabours of Abilene, Henry and Mildred Dusek, Agnes and Edmund Michalik and Mary Perotti, all of San Angelo.

Local guests included Elizabeth Urbanek, Betty Holubec, Annie Faltisek, Bernice and George Leone.

The next regular meeting will be held Sunday, February 24, 1991.

Our featured speaker, Stefan Vitez, didn't come as promised.

KLST TV reporter and his camera man came to televise our meeting.

Delicious refreshments were served after the meeting.

December Vestnik Project Czech Christmas Customs And Games A great deal of special customs and games are associated with the celebration of Christmas, and many of them relate to superstitions. If a child fasts all day, he will be rewarded with the glimpse of a zlate prastko (golden pig) on Christmas Eve. The crumbs of the Christmas Eve supper were divided among the well, the garden, trees, and animals to make them produce well during the coming year.

Several games were played with nuts and apples. Each girl peels an apple and keeps the peeling intact. Then she throws it either over her shoulder or over the heads of a line of girls. The letter formed by the peel is the initial of the boy she will marry. In another game, each player is given seven nuts, and is allowed to choose three of them to crack. The player who cracks the

best nut will receive seven years of good luck. Members of a family would sometimes place a coin under the dinner plate to ensure good luck. Several other common Christmas games deal with "good luck - bad luck" or with approaching marriage.

During the Christmas season, it was common for groups of • carolers to go from house-to-house, serenading the residents. Another common custom was to bake Christmas cookies in the shape of animals, people, Christmas trees, hearts, etc. All of these games and customs are what made life in the "Old Country" interesting and unique.

The Youth Leaders

Cottonwood Youth Activities Dear Members and Friends, The youth club meeting of Lodge No. 6 was held November 11 after our mother lodge meeting. The meeting was well attended.

Cakes were donated to the Rest Haven residents, also to St. Paul's Church Bazaar by our youth club.

On October 14, we went to Six Flags. The fourteen youth clubbers and fourteen adults had an enjoyable time on this pretty day at Six Flags.

A few of the youth members and adults attended District III meeting which was held at Lodge No. 66 (Linden Hall). It was a nice meeting and the dinner was good. We also had two youth members who entered in the Christmas ornament contest. They were Tammi Dobecka and Celia Dobecka. Tammi Dobecka received first place in her age group.

We discussed going to District III Slumber Party and Holiday-in-the-Park on November 30th and December 1st.

We also went on a spooky Halloween

hayride and we all had fun; it was spooky. We also had hot dogs with all the trimmings.

Lodge No 6 will host the District III YAD on June 23, 1991.

We will have our Lodge No. 6 meeting, also youth meeting on December 2nd. Afterwards, we will have a Christmas program, visit from Santa Claus, an exchange of gifts and a turkey supper.

We have all the items ready to take to the rest home.

If anyone needs a gift for Christmas, we have Christmas cards, get well cards, birthday cards, also we are selling SPJST Cookbooks, and knives which make nice gifts, so let us know.

The Hrabal Family Reunion donated $50 to the Youth Club. Our club members and youth leaders appreciate this very much. Thanks a lot!

District III Youth Club Meeting Dear Members, On October 28, 1990, District III youth had our meeting. We discussed Holiday-in-the-Park. Everyone is to meet at Lodge 84 Friday night, November 30, 1990 and spend the night.

Everyone is to bring a gift to play cops and robbers; not to spend more than $5.00.

Lodge 25 and Lodge 66 are to bring desserts, Lodge 6 and Lodge 35 are to bring chips and dips, also each lodge is to bring two gifts for social games.

At the spring meeting, the youth will have a washer-throwing contest.

Sharon Tierce will be in charge of the contest; we also will have an Easter egg decorating contest.

Dime Box Lodge 13 Monthly Youth Club Meeting The Dime Box Youth Club held their monthly meeting on Sunday, November 18 at 3 p.m. We began the meeting by saying the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.

The roll was called and the minutes for our October meeting were read and approved.

The treasurer's report was then given and approved.

We discussed going Christmas caroling and a hayride.

Our lodge's Christmas Party will be at our next meeting on December 16 at 3 p.m. We drew names so we could exchange gifts at our party. Everyone should bring some desserts to our party and the lodge will provide drinks.

We will decorate the hall for Christmas on November 20 after school.

Door prizes were won by Sue Ellen Flippin and Dale Korth. The meeting then adjourned and everyone was treated to a sodawater.

Some of our members stayed after the meeting to make Christmas snowflakes to decorate the hall.

Treasurer's report was given by Eric Tallas.

It was suggested by member Jimmy Sheppard that a volleyball team be formed by the youth club. The motion was made and seconded that this be done. Motion carried.

Youth club members voted to go to Barton Creek Mall in Austin for Christmas shopping for their November social. Members would meet on Sunday, November 18 at 12:30 p.m. to leave for the mall.

Youth Club Leader Donna Vanecek advised that practice for the Christmas program would begin on Saturday, November 17 at 10 a.m. Those wishing to be in the program would need to be at the hall at that time. The second practice would be Tuesday night at 7 p.m.

A letter from the Holland SPJST Youth Club inviting our youth club to attend a dance on December 7, was read to the group. The dance would start at 7:30 p.m. Those wishing to go to the dance were asked to meet at the hall at 7 p.m.

Our next youth club meeting will be held on December 9th. The SPJST Christmas Party will be held on December 2 and the Christmas program will be performed at that time.

Youth members are reminded to bring a Christmas gift to exchange on that date. The gift should cost no more than $5.

The meeting was adjourned and members enjoyed an evening meal with the adult members.

By clasping the hand (Crisscross hands to clasp the hand on each side) of my brother, I pledge Benevolence, Humanity, & Brotherhood. more of three forces -- greed, ambition or desire for recognition. What is the motivation for Saddam Hussein's invasion and annexation of Kuwait? As a rule, Americans do not understand the Arabic people and the way they think.

We do not know whether their actions are motivated by personal desire or sincere religious and moral conviction.

In this modern age, Americans are used to more civilized techniques in achieving needs and/or desires.

As Americans we believe people have the inherent right to be governed by a governmental authority chosen by the majority of the citizens in a particular place or country. Unfortunately, there are those in the world who do not agree with us. As a nation, we are committed to see that this right is not usurped by anyone. We, as individuals, may not agree with or approve of the course of action which the United States has taken in the Iraqi crisis, but we have a moral obligation to support it. If we do not support it, we deny the very foundation of the concept of freedom, the exercise of free thought and free speech, under constitutional government.

I, for one, do not want to see war or any other kind of armed conflict, break out in any part of the world. It is a sad state of affairs when peaceful,

freedom-loving nations must resort to military action to settle differences. It would seem that the example set by freedom-loving people and nations would prevent this kind of thing from happening. It has been said that freedom starts with the individual. As members of a fraternity whose principles are benevolence, humanity and brotherhood, we have the opportunity and the obligation to promote individual freedom and mutual respect, to set examples for others to follow. It seems that we, along with the members of other organizations who promote the same principles, have given only lip service to the things we claim to stand for. Simply put, if we , do not practice what we preach, how can we served as an example? How can we have peace and harmony in the world if we do not have peace and harmony in our own organizations, homes, churches, etc? Are our actions motivated by greed, ambition and desire for recognition or are they motivated by sincere moral convictions? If we are to be the bright, shining examples we should be, we must truly practice the principles of brotherhood, humanity and benevolence, not just give them lip service.

Krakonoยง a krejei Nitka Krakonoยง byl mociVrn krdlem Krkono gskrch hor. Dovedl brati na sebe podle potfeby ruznou podobu; nekdy se promenil v obyeejneho pocestneho,, jindy v bohateho pana krasne obleeeneho, jindy zase v obra, kterr jediOm krokem umel pfekroeiti kopce a tidoli s vesniekami i lesy.

Dovedl se take vzna geti i v povetfi, a bylo-li tfeba, zmizel v zemi, ze po nem nezustalo ani pamatky.

Hluboko pod Krkono gskSrmi horami mel v zemi ukryty velike poklady. Po sta a sta let mu je tam sna geli jeho sltdebnici, mall vousati trpaslici a skfitkove. V podzemnich jeskynich byly velike hromady zlata, stfibra a drahrch kamenu, z nich ila takova zafe jako z vychazejiciho slunce.

Krakonog se east() zjevoval lidem.

Chu4m a hodrVrn pornahal a easto je obdaroval zlatem a stfibrem. Zato vgak lidi zle a nehodne trestal nebo je v gelijak gkadlil.

Mistr Nitka si odskoeil pro miru.

Zatim se dal Krakono g do lei S tovarygi a ptal se jich, zdali nebyl nektery z nich ve svete na zlcu gene a zdali snad ut take sly geli o mocnem Krakonogi, panu Krkonogsk3'ich hor.

Ale jeden tovary g mu odsekl: "Krakonoi? To jsou poufs:Way pro male deli a hloupe lidi. Nas tim nikdo nenapali."

Zatim mistr Nitka rozloiil sukno na stole a poeal je rozmefovat. Pokreoval rarneny, posunoval si brejle a kreil nosem. Pan to zpozoroval a tazal se: "Prof se tak divne tvafite, mistie?"

Mistr se pogkrabal za uchem: "Winesl jste malo sukna, pane. Na 1)&0 kabdt to nestaCi." Krakonog vgak dobie vedel, '2e sukna je dosti, ba ze je ho jests mnohem vice.

Ale deal, jako by to nevedel, a mrzute pravil: "To se jiste obchodnik zmylil a dal mi sukna merle. Ale hled'te, mistie, abyste jiz s latkou nejak vy gel. Jste dovedny a jiste se Vdm to podafi."

Mistr Nitka v gak neznameho pana hned ujigfoval, ze je pofad0 krejei a 2'e si jeg te nikdy ani odstfiiku latky nenechal. Vyprovodil neznameho pana az za dvefe a prosil, aby zase brzy pfigel.

Ale sotva za panem dvete zavfel, udelal za nim dlouhy nos a vesele fekl: "To si zase jednou pomohu! Za praci si dam hodne zaplatit a jests si odstfihnu kus pekneho sukna."

V sobotu pfigel Krakonogiiv sluha, vzal unity kabat a zaplatil penezi. Mistr krejCl vyzvidal na sluhovi, kdo je jeho pan a kde bydli.

Ale sluha odpoveciel: "Cot nevite, kdo je nejbohatk pan v tomto kraji?

Abyste to tedy veal, jest to mu'lj milostivY pan, pan kipeckY z Repovic."

Kdy2 sluha odeiel, mistr si marne vzpominal, zdali jiz nelcdy o panu kipeckem z Repovic aco slygel.

Nastal podzim.. Mistr Nitka vidycky

na podzim chodival se s ySTrni tovarygi do hor ai na Sneiku, aby se potegili pohledem s hor a nadS/chali se eerstveho vzcluchu. Proto se vypravili do hor i tentokrat. Do velikeho ko ge si vzali chleb, uzene a peeene maso, smaIend kufata a nelcolik lahvi dobreho Kdy2 vystupovali jiz na nejvyggi vrchol Krkonogskrch hor, na Snaku, vyskoeil proti nim ohrom0 bily kozel, na nenfi sedel podiv0 jezdec. Mel eervene gaty, eerne boty a Cernou Capku s dlouhrn kohoutim perem.

Hrilza obegla mistra Nitku i jeho tovaryge. Zvlagte pan mistr byl podegen, nebot' poznal v podivnern jezdci neznameho pana, kteremu gil nedavno kabat. Hned ho napadlo, ze je to sam Krakono g , kteremu odstiihl kus sukna. Zaeal se tfast a na celem tele mu strachem naskoeila husi kale.

"Vitam te, mistie Nitko!" zasmal se hrozne stra gideln jezdec. "Vitam vas vgechny ve sqch horach! Jit davno jsem ti chtel podekovati za ten krasnjr kabat, za ktery sis dal tak drikladne zaplatit. A co sis u gil z toho odstfiieneho sukna, ktere jsi mne ukradl? Nyni se spolu vyrovname!"

PodegenS, krejei poznal, 2'e by marne zapiral, padl na kolena a prosil se sepjatSma rukama: "Slitujte, se, mocnST kraji Krkonogsk)'Tch hor, a odpusfte mite! Slibuji yam, ze jiz nikdy nikoho neogidim."

"Dobra," zahfmel Krakono g , "mel bych s tebe stahnouti kuzi za to, le iidii lidi a kradeg jim sukno, a vhoditi to do podzemnich plamend! Ale proto'ie prosil a slibujeg , 2'e se polepgig, dam ti trest mnohem Vsednete na meho kozla a pojedete s hor az domu, aby vas v gichni lids z mesta videli."
