A TOI'ALOF APPROXIMATELY170 local lodge officers attended. The annual SPJST Workshop for 1990 was held at SPJST Lodge 24, Cyclone on Saturday, February 24, 1990. Approximately 170 local lodge officers and interested members attended representing 40 lodges. The Supreme Lodge officers spoke on the topic "SPJST Preparing for its lOOth Anniversary." The keynote speaker was 53rd District State Representative Hugh Shine. His message was entitled "Staying in Touch." Other speakers included Al Purifoy and Amy Flinn.
The Fraternalist of the Year Award for 1989 was presented to Brothe AlvinSefcik.He is a member of SPJS Lodge 172, Pasadena. The Supreme Lodgewishes to thank Lodge 24 for the use of their facilities whichwere free of charge to the Home Office. Thanks to my staff and other individuals who made this workshop a success. Your help and participation was greatly appreciated.
The Continuing Education Department of Alvin Community College offers a program which preserves Czech heritage by teaching the language and encouraging social awareness of Czech customs, literature, music and dress.
Each year SPJST presents financial assistance to this program to enable ACC to offer scholarships to generously enhance the education of both its credit and non - credit students. Lodge 87 Temple Organizes New Youth Club We are extremely proud to announce that the officers and members of Lodge 87, Temple, have organized a new SPJST Youth Club. The newly - elected youth leader is Pam Sedita Capps. Pam is a teacher in Belton and is very anxious to get the club involved in the SPJST Youth Program.
The organization of this youth club led to the issuing of six new SPJST polices. The club has seven members and is looking for new youth tojoin. If your child is interested in becoming a member of Lodge 87 Youth Club, please contact the officers of Lodge 87 or Youth Department at the Supreme Lodge.
