Brother Lad C. Cmajdalka was recognized as the longest - serving officer of SPJST Lodge No. 1 with an outstanding record of 47 years of service to the lodge.
The SPJST Annual Contribution Towards The Teaching Of Czech At Alief Alief Community Evening School for the continuous education, where Czech is now in progress in its 20th semester, is located in the North Hastings High School in the southwest of Houston. Our SPJST should be highly commended for its support of the Czech language program at Alief and at the other locations across Texas. The Slavonic Benevolent Order of the State of Texas, known by its Czech initials as SPJST also graciously provides free of charge the facilities of its Lodge Praha in Taylor for the
annual meeting of CESAT (Czech Ex Students Association of Texas) and the annual program of the Czech Club at UT (The University of Texas) at the same location. SPJST provided also the facilities at its Supreme Lodge in Temple for meetings of CESAT and the other Czech ethnic organizations. Finally, it goes without saying, this strongest Czech - American organization in Texas supports many other Czech oriented programs throughout the state. John J. Karas of Houston

A new slate of officers was elected to head reorganized SPJST Lodge No. 1 in Fayetteville, Texas. The election took place during a special reorganizational meeting held at Keiler's Restaurant in Fayetteville this past weekend. Louis Polansky was elected president; Glenn Pflughaupt was chosen to be vice president and Irene Polansky will serve as secretary treasurer.
