Arab Proverb *** The four - lodge Yuletide Party held Sunday, December 13th at Lodge Dobry Zivot (Good Life) No. 180, Burleson and hosted by the same lodge turned out to be 'a fraternal and jovial day. It was another annual day held by Lodges 92, 154, 180 and 183. To say that it took a large amount of work would be an understatement, because this type of undertaking doesn't just happen by chance.

At any rate, we arrived at the lodge with a misty, drizzly - type of weather, however, that didn't seem to dampen the spirits of the SPJST fraternalists' and guests' presence. In the meantime a large group had assembled when the call to eat was sounded to a lavish, festive meal of what anyone could ask for. The thought entered this editor's mind that how can a person lose weight or stay in shape with this type of sumptuous eating! The host lodge cooks certainly outdid themselves with their culinary efforts and the ladies saw to it that there were enough trimmings and sweets for everyone.

Following the meal, installation of officers was combined with the festivites. The Metroplex lodges' officers were installed by District III Director Sid Pokladnik, who was present with his wife, Justine. From the Supreme Lodge was also our Legal Advisor Sidney Kacir present with his wife, Dorothy and helped in taking pictures, some of which appear in this issue. There were several members of longstanding of our SPJST in attendance, which, some of them are also photographed in this issue.

The Czech Folk Dancers of West performed a very - much enjoyed 30 minute of lively dance numbers which had the entire audience keeping time with the music. By this time (approximately 2 p.m.), the attendance had increased very much and, at 3:15, everyone began enjoying dancing to the ,rythmic dance music provided by The Harold Strand Orchestra.

It was wonderfully enjoyable to see all acquaintances, old and new, and we certainly enjoyed every minute of it.

The name "Dobry Zivot" (Good Life) truly exemplied the meaning of the host lodge's membership fine hospitality. Lodge 180 President Louis Grochoske; his wife, Mydell, other officers and members certainly deserve everyone's appreciation. *** This week of Christmas, one of the national network programs had the editor/publisher of one of our national publications as a guest and he was asked-- what his estimation of 1987 was, as a year, for our United States.

He replied that he felt 1987 was about the worst year he could remember in his lifetime. He mentioned the national deficit and debt, the Iran - Contra scandal, (high officials disregarding the law and lying to the U.S. Congress), the October Stock Market Crash, the Persian Gulf situation, the religious clashes all over the world,

especially in Jerusalem, etc., and ended by saying: "2,000 years ago Roman soldiers occupied Jerusalem and today Jewish soldiers occupy it, so what has changed? He felt the best that happened in 1987 was the signing of the INF treaty by President Reagan and General Secretary Gorbacev, giving hope for future generations.

Your editor has done some reflecting about the past, also, however, more about our own fraternal Society -- The SPJST. Let us think about our SPJST Society's solvency -- for every $100 of liabilities, we have $133.43 compared to the average of 125 largest insurance companies which is $104.02. The reason we, as members, do not have to worry about "stock - market crashes" is that our SPJST has surplus funds of $35.03 for every $100 of Certificate Reserves (much larger , than most companies). It is a relief to our entire membership that such nationwide setbacks as the "Great Depression" in the 1930s and recessions have been taken in stride and survived by our Fraternal Order; these economical reverses may have some effect on the growth of our Society, however, it always survives because of the sound, continuous faith in our SPJST future!

We hope each household has received the 1988 SPJST Calendar and, if you have or when you do, raise the cover and read: "About the SPJST" on the bottom part before you display it in your home. *** Employers take heed --- If you get slapped with a penalty or fine for violating the new immigration - reform laws, you can now demand a hearing before an administrative - law judge.

That's according to a recent ruling by the Justice Department's Executive Office for Immigration Matters.The law forbids all employers -- from large corporations to families seeking household workers -- to hire an illegal alien or continue to employ one hired after November 6, 1986, the date the law was signed. To make sure that their workers are legally entitled to live and work in the United States, employers are required to inspect documents for all employees hired after the law was signed.

Administrative - law judges have authority to decide cases involving three types of charges against employers -- that the employer knowingly employed illegal aliens, that the employer discriminated against workers because of their national origin or citizenship status and that the employer required workers to post indemnity bonds. Employers found guilty of such acts face a number of penalties. They can be ordered to hire the workers in question, to file detailed reports on all applicants who are turned down for jobs or to pay up to $1,000 in fines for each case of discrimination. Until June 1, 1988, the Immigration and Naturalization Service will give employers one warning before acting. If the law continues to be broken, INS can impose a penalty. Employers then have 30 days to appeal to an administrative law judge. Starting June 1, INS can impose a penalty after the first violation. ***

Dear Members: Lodge No. 17, New Tabor held its regular monthly meeting on December 6, with all officers present.

New members to Lodge No. 17 are Marilyn Cedidlia, Brandon Odstrcil, Gladys Englemann, Johanna E. Henry and Randy Gaas, a tranferee. We welcome these new members and look forward to having them participate in lodge activities.

Bud Petty announced plans for our tournaments coming up; these are for Lodge No. 17 members only. On January 17, at 3 p.m., we will have our Straight Domino Tournament and on January 24, we will have our "42" Tournament. If you haven't signed up and want to, please contact Bud Petty.

We will also have the beginning of our annual Triathelon in dominoes; this is for anyone who would like to compete in these events -- "42," Straight and Moon. The first event will be: January 10 -- "42" February 13 -- "Straight" February 28 -- "Moon" Bud Petty is planning to try to have our Taroky rematch with Lodge No. 47 at that time; we're planning to bring

our traveling trophy home.

Of Bylaw Committee Meeting Notice

DATE: Saturday, Jan. 9, 1988 TIME: 9:00 a.m.

PLACE: SPJST Supreme Lodge, Temple, Texas "Even though Article 20 of the Bylaws permits recommendations for changes to the bylaws to be submitted to secretary of the committee not later than 60 days prior to the convention, I believe the earlier parties will submit their recommendations, the better it will be for the benefit of all concerned.

The parties may need to be reminded that the recommended changes should be signed. It should also be helpful if a party is recommending a change to a particular bylaw that he or she specifically mention which bylaw they are recommending the change to. This would help eliminate confusion when there may be some doubt as to which bylaw the recommendation pertains to." (From letter received from Mr. Sidney Kacir, Legal advisor.)

The buffet luncheon after the meeting was made more festive thanks to the loan of Christmas decorations and special table cloths by Sister Helen and Brother A.J. "Tony" Kelner. Thanks to Sisters Janik, Hanzelka, Brdecka, Sontag, Helen Kelner and Nezval and Brothers Kubena and Kelner there was more food on the buffet table than that furnished by the lodge. Those who stayed enjoyed themselves. Sisters Janik and Hanzelka stayed to help with the cleanup along with the regulars, Sister Nezval, Brother "Tony" Kelner and this writer.

Special thanks to those lodge members who, through this past year, stayed to help with the cleanup after the luncheons. Those of us who had to stay would probably still be there and with their presence, things were made easier.

This month saw a large number of members on the "sick list." The following were in hospitals: Brother William R. Hlozek, Mr. Anton Kelner Jr. and Sister Lillian Janie Oldag.

Sister Alene Kortis was home after eye surgery. A speedy recovery is wished to all.

Lodge Karel Jonas No. 28, East Bernard Dear Members: Lodge Karel Jonas will hold its first meeting of 1988 on the first Sunday, January 3rd. The meeting will start at 2 p.m. Some major business, held over from the December meeting, will be on the agenda along with the regular items. A standard "Order of Business" will be followed.

A buffet luncheon is planned after the meeting.

On December 6th, with better than "a baker's dozen" being present, the annual meeting lasted only one (1) hour and five (5) minutes. All major questions, with some exceptions, were

put to a vote in record time and the agenda was covered quickly. With the excused absence of our regular lodge secretary/treasurer, Brother Albert Lupik, Brother A.J. "Tony" Kelner was appointed to fill in. Also, Sister Christen Kelner gave the report for the ailing lodge Board of Trustees' treasurer, Mr. Anton Kelner Jr., who was in the hospital. The lodge officers, as well as the Board of Trustees, were all re elected. Again, the same delegates who represented the lodge in the 1984 Convention will do so in the 1988 Convention in June. Some committees were left unfilled and will be taken care of in the January 3rd meeting.

Brother A.J. "Tony" Kelner won the door prize.

The regular monthly meeting was held on Monday, December 21, 1987 following the bingo games.

President Rita Vanek called the meeting to order. Youth Member Kim Kacal led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. A minute of silent prayer was observed for our deceased and sick members, especially for Eleanora Haunshell and Frank L. Krauskoff who passed away since our last meeting.

Secretary Leona Macha called the roll of officers; all were present, except Trustee Albert Kresta, Sr. The minutes of the meeting held November 18, 1987 were read, corrected and approved.

Secretary Leona Macha read all correspondence.

The lodge welcomed new members Kathryn Bodungen, Ross Andrew Juranek and James E. Sebesta.

Treasurer Madeline Shimek gave her report. A copy of the report is on file.

First Vice President Bennie Reck, Second Vice President Dora Lee Kopecky and Youth Leader Mary Ann Karasek reported on their respective activities.

There being no further old business or new business, the meeting, on motion, adjourned.

Dear Brothers and Sisters: Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kite on the birth of twin great grandchildren, Aaron David Long and Ashley Cherie Long who were born on Sunday, December 13th at St. Luke's Hospital. Aaron weighed 4 pounds, 8 ounces and Ashley weighed 3 pounds, 12 ounces. Proud parents of the newborn twins are Mr. and Mrs. David Long. Best wishes to the entire family.

The youth club held their Christmas Program on Monday, December 14th.

The event was well attended by members and youth. Darlene Migl acted as Mistress of Ceremonies for the evening. The Choral Club performed and was joined by members of the Youth Club for several Christmas selections. Santa Claus also made an appearance and fruit bags were distributed. The youth club is grateful to everyone who participated and attended the program.

Lodge No. 177, Academy The December meeting of Lodge No. 177, Academy was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by President Otis Beck.

Pledge to the flag was recited and minutes from our last meeting were read by Secretary Dorothy Lisenbe and approved as read.

Cummings thanking the lodge for the $250 - donation for Thanksgiving meals for the elderly.

Board of Trustees' Report -- They decided to donate the use of the hall for a benefit dance for Linda Atkins who desperately needs a liver transplant.

The members voted to donate $100 to the Bell County Co - Youth Fair and $500 to the Linda Atkins Transplant Fund.

A big hand was given to outgoing President Otis Beck and Secretary Dorothy Lisenbe; good job, people!

As 1987 comes to a close, we would like to acknowledge all the good work done at the lodge the last year and we hope to continue our good work by all our good workers who are so faithful.

Dear Members: There were two great parties this year. First Lodge 183 had a party on December 6th; there were 47 members present, a very good meal served and, afterwards, domino and card games were played and enjoyed fraternizing.

Everyone had a good time.

Second one was the four - lodge party hosted this year by Lodge 180 in Burleson. It was a great party with a delicious meal, installation of officers for the coming year 1988, the Czech Folk Dancers of West entertained us with some beautiful Czech dances, and then we danced to the music of Harold Strand Orchestra. For those of you who didn't attend this party, you missed one of the greatest parties of your life. You must start making plans for next year's party to be at Lodge 154 in Fort Worth.

Next is New Year's Eve Party which will be probably in the past by the time this letter is read. Here is hoping that everyone has a happy and safe holiday season this year and will be back next year and work to make Lodge 183 bigger and better than it ever has been; all that it needs now is the members to back up the officers and sales representatives and it can be the biggest and best lodge in the state, so let's see your smiling faces at the next meeting.

Don't be one of those who go out and party too much and wakes up on New Year's Day and wonders what happened! . All of us can think of something that we can do better so let's get in there and work on those things and make 1988 a better year than 1987.

The Czech Folk Dancers of West entertained at the Christmas Party in Burleson on December 13th. officers and several members attended to discuss some important business for the lodge, namely, the third burglary of the year. The main subject being burglar alarms and I can tell you now that a contract has been signed and an alarm system will soon be in operation.

For the year 1988, our lodge has elected two new officers, Cecil Phillips, first vice president; and Ed Kral, second vice president, so let's give them our support and hope they can give the lodge some good advice in 1988.

I may say that 1987 has been a good year but, as you look back, you can see things that could have been done better. It's like playing a game; the more you play the better you get. Your past officers have changed things to better the lodge and I am sure you will see the future officers will do the same because time does not stand still.

Meetings for the new year will be on the second Sunday, January 10th right after bingo. Remember it will be on Sunday beginning in January. It seems that some of your officers work on Monday nights, so, at the Christmas Party, the members decided to try Sunday nights and hope to get more members to come to meetings.

REMEMBER: Second Sunday, January 10th, 5 p.m. at the lodge hall.

Please be careful driving home on New Year's night. Remember, operating a car on New Year's Eve is like Russian Roulette. You never know which driver is loaded.

Friends, I've only one thing to say as the old year comes to an end: "We've gotten through one thousand nine hundred eighty - seven of them; I'm sure we're going to be able to get through one more."

Czech Class Activities At Lodge 88, Houston The final session of study of the Czech class at Lodge 88 was scheduled on December 7th. It was, by far, the most enjoyable and active of all such classes observed during the past five years.

Christmas and New Year's messages were the subjects of the first hour. At that time, Mrs. Jackson spoke briefly about her many trips throughout the world. She was the matriarch of four generations we named the Janak family. Victor Janak's sons entertained us with music and dance ably assisted by the youngest great grandchildren.

As usual, the Czech custom of eating delicious foods during festive times was enjoyed by all. This was heightened by accordianist Tim Janak.

Reluctantly, we had to call out, "Uz je toho dost."

Post Scriptum: Studies of Czech and classes of the same are vitally important in perpetuation of our Czech heritage as they bring forth the increased ethnic awareness of all involved Czech-American. Everybody knows that the advantages of learning another language are a hundredfold, and the fact that Czech belongs to the largest group of the European languages, that is to the Slavonic languages, enhances the value of the Czech language. Knowledge of Czech is, that is to say, a halfway step towards the learning of any other Slavonic languages. Everybody, young or old, is welcomed to the above announced Czech course.

Czech Classes At Westchester Education Center-Spring Branch Studies/Activities Of The fall semester of classes in Czech The St. John High language instruction were successfully concluded on December 3, 1987 and plans are now being laid for classes in School Czech I Class Beginning and Advanced Czech in the spring semester of 1988 which will In Ennis begin on Tuesday, January 26, 1988.

Registration for 1988 spring semester classes in Conversational and Grammatical Czech will begin on January 4 and continue during the month on the following schedule.

January 4 through 8 -- 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

January 11 through 14 -- 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

January 16 -- 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Alief Evening School under auspices of AISD (Alief Independent School District) is again offering a Conversational Czech course at Hastings High School. The location of this school is between Bellaire Blvd. on the south and Alief - Clodine on the north on the southwest side of the intersection of Cook Road and High Star Drive in the community of Alief.

The first lesson of this 12 - week course, designed to develop basic skill in the Czech Language wherever it is spoken, will be on January 20, 1988 and henceforth once a week on Wednesdays from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuition, set by the school, will be $43 and the instructor will be John J. Karas of Houston.

By Dena Bobalek The studies and activities at the St. John Czech I Class for the 1987 - 88 school term are in full swing. Thanks to the generous allocation from the SPJST organization, texbooks and other materials have been purchased making it possible to study the Czech language which, to most of the students, is part of our cultural heritage.

Under the direction of Mrs. Julia Pochobradsky, our teacher, our Czech studies began the first of September.

The Progressive Czech textbook with special designed lessons is used as our guide. After a brief history study about the "Czechoslovaks" and their traditional language, we learned the proper pronunciation of the Czech vowels and consonants. Czech writing and reading is being learned by practicing the use of the "carka," "tecka," and the "hacek." We also conjugate verbs and frequently have speaking competitions and contests.

To liven up the classroom activities, students learn traditional and patriotic songs which they perform for the entire class from time to time. Later, we plan to use "Modern Conversation" and do some of the popular Czech skits. Everyone is looking forward to showing off their Czech talents.

Special research and art projects are planned throughout the school term.

Research papers on Czech famous and important people are being pursued. These included such heroes as Jan Zizka, a military genius of the Hussite War, and Jan Hus, a preacher and rector of Charles University.

Beautiful Czech calendars and flags designed by the class members help create a Czech atmosphere.

Periodically, class members also demonstrate their Czech food preparation techniques. The klobase/sauerkraut dinners are always delicious with homemade apple strudels or kolache for dessert. What else could be more enjoyable after class?

The study of a foreign language becomes more interesting when one gets to see things made in that country.

Therefore, plans are in the making for us to visit the SPJST Museum in Temple and perhaps the West Import Shop. Also, we plan a special Christmas tribute in which we will sing Czech songs at our par h Christmas Mass. Then, as the school year draws

8/VESTNIK-Wednesday, December 30, 1987 to an end, we expect to participate in the annual Czech Polka Festival by constructing a float, dressing up in Czech costumes, singing along the float route and at the special program in downtown Ennis following the parade.

Indeed, this Czech I Class at St. John's High School has a full and busy schedule planned for 1987 - 88 school term. Asa result, however, we hope to gain a tremendous knowledge of the Czech language and our heritage.

Most all their items were handmade, both the kitchen utensils needed for their own use and comfort in the chalets.

Perhaps the carved handles of their wooden, drinking goblets, called "croak" are the most interesting and attractive of the skills of these Slovakian shepherds. They shaped and molded the cheese that was produced from their sheep milk in designed, carved wooden molds. Each goblet and mold was unique with a story of its own; perhaps known only to the wood - carver who had labored so long with it. Each chisel or gouge had its own particular purpose, however, small.

In the mountain district of Slovakia, Valach sheep - herders continue today as in the past, but it is not as extensive.The Tatra shepherds still use the old ornamental, carved molds and goblets and add some new ones regularly in more traditional patterns.

Sadly, with industrialization and over - population, the land is being taken over more and more and bulldozers are yielding up the wood into more commercial uses and the beautiful, virgin wood is becoming harder to acquire.

In the time of earliest Czech villages, people would make the different utensils, that they needed in day - to day life, of wood, especially the ones that were needed at home. Wood was chosen because of the variety of different wood; each had a different texture, grain, and ability to be sculpted into exactly what was needed.

A pleasant association with wood carving or sculpting is not only the sturdiness and beauty, but the smell and feel of different wood.

Wood easily lends itself to carving or turning, and was very plentiful and easy to come by so many years ago.

The rural wood - carvers of that period were masters of the art and samples of their work astonish us to this day with the exquisite workmanship. The unique and attractive shapes and rich, ornamental carvings testify to the skill, taste, and inventiveness of these original masters of wood.

Shepherds of the Carpathians region possess a distinct characteristic of their own in the mountain chalets of Valachian "Vala gsko" region. This region is a Carpathian mountain - part of the northeastern section of Moravia where the people are called "Valagi."

We, the members of Lodge No. 91, Crosby, wish to express our deepest sympathy to the family of our departed lodge sister THERESIA SLOVACEK, who passed away in the Allen Brook Nursing Home, Baytown, Texas on Sunday, December 6, 1987.

Sister Slovacek, 94, was axesident of Crosby since 1913. She was &member of the Crosby Brethren Church and an SPJST member for 67 years.

She is survived by two sons and daughters - in - law, Charles and Barbara Slovacek of Lumberton, Texas, and Joe and Betty Slovacek of Anchorage, Alaska; a daughter, Milody Daniel of Crosby; eight granddaughters, ten great grandchildren and five great - great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Slovacek.

Services were held at 2 p.m.

Tuesday, December 8, 1987 at the Crosby Brethren Church with the Rev. Larry Koslovsky officiating. Burial was at the White Chapel Cemetery of Highlands, Texas.

May our departed sister rest in peace and may her memory live with us forever.

Monday, December 21 at Sparks Memorial Methodist Church, with the Rev. Delbert Taylor officiating. Burial was in the SPJST Pavelka Cemetery near Elk. Mrs. Kubitza was born December 11, 1903, in Axtell. She was a housewife. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie, and by eight brothers.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Olene Richter of Bellmead; one sister, Minnie Kubitza of the Mart Lake community; two grandchildren and two great - grandchildren.

Pallbearers were James Edward Pavelka, Eldon Pavelka, A.J. Pavelka, Dero Hurst, Charlie Pavelka and John Pavelka.

Arrangements were made 111 Bellmead Funeral Home.

Expression Of Sympathy We, the officers and members of Lodge No. 39, Bryan, wish to express our deepest sympathy to the Quitta family of sister ELIZABETH SIMECEK QUITTA, age 73, of Leagueville and forrderly of Bryan. who died Tuesday in Athens, Texas.

A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Athens, with Rev. Sam Metzger officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Memorial Park in Athens. A rosary was recited Wednesday at Carroll Lehr Funeral Home in Athens.

Mrs. Quitta, born in Kaufman, lived in Bryan for 20 years before moving to Leagueville 13 years ago. She was a former member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bryan and was past state director of KJZT. She was a member of SPJST Lodge No. 39 in Bryan and of St. Edward's Catholic Church in Athens.

Survivors include her husband, Albin F. Quitta of Leagueville; two sons, Wesley Albin Quitta of Lufkin and Joseph Wayne Quitta of Leagueville; two daughters, Marie Elizabeth Thacker of Leagueville and Louise Ann Lee of West Monroe, Louisiana; a brother, Stanley Simecek Sr. of Bryan; 12 grandchildren and 8 great - grandchildren.

Temple Junior College has received a $500 donation for use in the Czech language program from the Western Fraternal Life Association (WFLA).

The money will be used for the promotion and teaching of Czech language and Czech heritage and for scholarships, instructional supplies and enrichment programs, Calvin Chervenka, program coordinator, said.

Julius Dubcak, district director for several southwestern states, presented the check to Dr. James Van Ness, dean of arts and sciences; Dr. Gwen Hauk, chairman of the English and foreign languages department, and Calvin Chervenka in brief ceremonies recently Mr. and Mrs. Louis Kokes and Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Krupala at the college. Organized during the Texas Sesquicentennial, TOCA is an independent organization encouraging Texans of Czech ancestry to preserve the Czech cultural heritage and identity. Dr. Gwen Hauk is coordinator of the project. The Hubert M. Dawson Library at TJC now houses a Czech collection for this project which is open to the public and reference and research.

Chervenka, who has coordinated the TJC Czech program since its beginning, has assisted the library in compiling a bibliography of available Czech materials which is used as a resource for students and others doing historical research. The college also is using some teaching aids originally distributed by the WFLA. The materials were designed to promote home study of the Czech language and heritage in American - Czech families, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Zvolanek Chervenka said.

TEENS, ALCOHOL AND RURAL ROADS DON'T MIX Holiday party - time often means a long drive for rural Texas teenagers -a drive that can end in tragedy.

Rural youth are just as subject to Nessures to drink as teenagers in irban areas, says Dr. Mary Ann Heussner. The relatively lower use of seatbelts in rural counties and the temptation to drive at excessive speeds on open country roads can create a fatal mix.

In 1986, forty - two percent of all rural fatal accidents involved drivine while intoxicated (DWI), while thirty five percent of all statewide accidents involved DWI, according to the TAMU Agricultural Extension Service specialist.

She encourages teenagers to give their parents a worry - free holiday season by: -- Staying free of alcohol or other drugs.

- Using a seatbelt and urging friends to do the same.

-- Riding with only those drivers and friends who have not been drinking.

Parents also have to remember that their children learn about safety belts and alcohol use by the example of parents and other adults, Heussner remarks.

She cautions parents who sponsor drinking parties for young people to be aware that they have both ethical and legal responsibilities for the health and safety of their minor guests.

During 1988, the Texas Extension Homemakers Association (TEHA), a 21,000 - member Extension volunteer organization, will be promoting "Project Celebration" for teenagers in rural counties.

The program involves organizing community support for an all - night activity after homecoming, prom, graduation and other major school events as an alternative to parties where alcohol is available to minors.

Na vojne sloulil u 25.pluku v Kromeriii na Morave v letech 1911-13.

Cestoval po lodi "Neckar" a trvala plavba 24 dni z nemeckeho pfistavu Bremy do texaskeho pfistavu Galvestonu. Rozloueil se s rodinou a snit jim, le kdy bude v Americe zle, le hned po prvni vYplate pfijede domn.

Tam uvidel koryto s vodou, kde far-mail napajeli kone, kdy2 privezli do mesta bavinu na prodej. V tom koryte se umyl a ueesal si vlasy. Vilern se seznamil s hezkou Annou Smajstrlovou, dcerou Karla a Ane2ky SmajstrlovYch. Mela modre oei a eerne vlasy, byla vesela a umela dobre moraysky mluvit. Anna se narodila v Texasu blizko Tours a rodiee meli eistirnu baviny a byli z Fren g tatu na Morave. Za rok byla svatba. Tenkrat kdy2 mela bYt svatba, jelo se koupit dfivi a postavila platforma pro jidlo a tanec. Mnoho rokfr byl dopisovatelem do Hospodafe, kter9 je po dnes vydavan a jde do stare vlasti a je vyddvan ye Westu ve state Texas.

V roku 1978 mel Vilem 89 let a jel po prvni od jeho odchodu z domova navgtivit jeho Ctyfi sestry, ktere nevidel 64 let a dalgi pfibuzne a pfdtele. Jeho tfi sestry Franti gka Hordkovd, Andka Konafikova a Vlasta Knedlovd jegte na Morava.

Item, Of Interest FINANCIAL RECORD KEEPING FOR 1988 If you're paying year - end bills and wondering where your money went in 1987, now may be the time to improve your financial record keeping for 1988.

The best record keeping system is one that works for you, says Nancy Granovsky, a family economics specialist. Typically, this will be a simple system that allows you to easily retrieve the information you want and need.

She maintains that an effective record keeping system will provide a means of organizing and filing receipts, cancelled checks, income statements and other financial papers and a method for summarizing information about income and expenses.

According to TAMU Agricultural Extension Service home economist, any one of several basic record keeping strategies will be helpful: Receipt method. Keep file and sort receipts according to categories of expense, such as food, utilities, or entertainment.

Envelope method. Place the money you have allocated weekly or monthly for each category into an envelope. As you spend the money, write what you spent it for on the envelope.

Checkbook method. Code each entry in your checkbook according to the category of income or expense.

Ledger system. Keep detailed daily entries in a ledger. You can buy a record - book in almost any size at a store, obtain one at your county Extension office or make your own forms in a spiral notebook.

Computer system. Computer software is available that allows each income or expense item to be entered after a system of categories is established.

When you use a credit card, be sure to record the individual purchases in the appropriate categories, advises Granovsky. Recording a single credit card payment for a variety of purchases gives you very little information about how your money is being spent.

None of these methods of keeping track of income and expenses and income will do much good unless you summarize the transactions on a weekly or monthly basis, she emphasizes.

However, once you have the summaries they will be invaluable for preparing your taxes at year's end, and getting a good grasp on your family finances.

The specialist says there's no secret to organizing family finances; it's mostly a matter of having the time and discipline to make a record - keeping system work.
