Howard Leshikar Appointed To Fraternal Executive Group At National Fraternal Congress Of America-Chicago

Brother John Hranicky, 96, Outlives His Insurance Policy Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hranicky hosted an open house for his father, John Hranicky, Sunday, October 18, 1987. The occasion which marked the 96th birthday of John Hranicky was held in the Jennie Hranicky memorial room in Orange Grove. Approximately 73 friends and relatives were in attendance. During the afternoon, a brief ceremon y was conducted by Mrs. Thelma Hrncir, District VII director of the SPJST, who presented the honoree with a certificate from the Supreme

Lodge of the SPJST indicating that he had outlived his policy, along with a check for the face value of the policy. A number of members of Mr. Hranicky's lodge in Robstown were also in attendance. John Hranicky became a member of Lodge Texassti bratfi (Texas Brothers) at Yorktown, Texas in 1911. The Hranicky family moved to Orange Grove in 1927. SPJST Member Wins First Place In Essay Writing Contest

Supreme Lodge Officers andDistrict Officers were among the attendance at the meeting, L to R: DYC_ Bessie Petr, Brother Jerry_ Mikulas, Jr. [SL Financial Secretary', President Richard Burney, 1st Vice President Johnnie Gaidusek, 2nd ViceYresident Mydell Grochoske, Secretary Emma Ceska, and Director/Board Chairman Sid Pokladnik.

Bruce Skrabanek, the son of Milton John and Barbara Skrabanek of Snook, and a member of Lodge 9, Snook, has been named winner of the U.S. Constitution Bicentennial Writing Contest sponsored by the National Fraternal Congress of America (NFCA).

Skrabanek read his winning essay "How the Constitution Promotes Equal Protection Under the Law," to the General Assembl y of the NFCA meeting in Chicago, Illinois, where he also received a $1,000 prize for winning the contest. Our congratulations to Bruce for a job well done in representing our society,
