Sunday, March 22nd began, as most spring Sundays, with a rather mild sunrise and weather. We decided to visit the East Texas Lodge Borovy Haj (Pine Grove) No. 74, Lovelady where the District 11 spring meeting was hosted. We felt that we had not visited Lodge 74 in a number of years and wished to get re - acquainted with members and meet the newer faces.

We arrived at 1:30 p.m. and, lo and behold, there at the entrance to the lodge home yard were four buses which brought District 11 members from other sister lodges of our SPJST Society to this piney woods outpost of our fraternal organization. When we stop to think about it, Lodge No. 74 was organized and chartered before such lodges as Dallas No. 84, Temple No. 87, Houston No. 88, etc, in numerical order. Inside we found an overflowing crowd of friendly fraternalists. It turned out that there were 249 individuals present at that meeting. "I his is probably the largest attendance at any district meeting since the districts were organized in our SPJST Society after the 1952 Convention. All those members who attended the District 11 meeting are to be commended.

The meeting convened at 2 p.m. and all business topics were taken care of in proper, orderly manner. The reports were favorable and SL Secretary/Treasurer Leonard Mikeska and District 11 Director Willie E. Kohutek made good reports for the Supreme Lodge. Million Dollar Sales Representatives as well as other productive sales force were recognized and given a round of applause. in addition to the attendance, there were also members from various youth groups present and the entire assembly listened to the progress of the meeting, attentively.

Lodge No. 74 members are to be complimented for the sumptuous meal they prepared and served, and, if anyone left there hungry, it was their own fault. It is well - known that all SPJST gatherings are large, fraternal, family - like affairs, and this proved even more so; it was just as if a large family had gathered to get - together and enjoy the day in a pleasant atmosphere among the pines in the country. Lodge No. 74 members deserve our admiration and this editor certainly feels they have it; they proved that they deserve it.

Although the trip was long, your editor and his wife certainly enjoyed it and we are glad we attended. Keep up the good work! *** You're happy in your work, reasonably well paid. Still, it's a pleasant surprise when the call comes.

The friendly voice is that of a job recruiter -- or headhunter -- who wants to talk about an interesting opening involving a sizable raise. Be careful how you respond. if you are cautious and open - minded, a headhunter's call can be useful. But remember that the headhunter works for the employer -not for you.

Start by asking for credentials. Get the name of the recruiter and his or her employer. Most headhunters work for one of 2,000 executive - search firms.

Ask whether he or she is a member of a professional group such as the Association of Executive Search Consultants or the National Association of Corporate and Professional Recruiters. Find out how the headhunter got your name. Should the source be a mailing list, it implies that the headhunter is shooting blind and you ought to be wary. Ask whether the recruiter has a specific vacancy to fill or is working on contingency for a number of companies. If the latter, make it clear that your resume is to be sent out only ith your express permission.

Otherwise, a recruiting agency could market it with a hundred companies. four resume could even end up on your current boss' desk. And if the caller mentions "registration fees," hang up.

Once preliminaries are out of the way, listen for the details of the job.

1 ry not to appear overly impressed by the salary range or too eager to leave your current job: The best prospect for most recruiters is one who's happy in the present job but willing to listen.

Before talking about yourself, get the recruiter to tell you as much as possible about the position and the company. If you decide that you don't want the job, don't just end the conversation.

Get a phone number and address for your tiles. You may think of other people who are qualified for the post.

Besides, the recruiter may be useful to you at a later date. li you're interested in the job, formal interviews -- first with the recruiter, then with the prospective employer -- are likely to follow. Here's where you can hurt yourself should }our present boss get word. For one thing, you may not be offered the jot and be marked as disloyal by your employer. And if you are offered the position, avoid initiating the counteroffer game where you now work. Should your boss not dangle more pay or a promotion -- as is the case about half the time -- you could become so discouraged that you accept a new job you are really lukewarm about. The best approach is to decide on the offer on the merits of the new job, not on how you can use it to advance yourself in your current position. *** When preparing to buy a house, be sure to plan for hidden costs. In addition to the down payment, you will need an additional 2 to 3 percent of the purchase price for closing costs, escrow payments of homeowner's insurance and real - estate taxes.

According to the annual spring poll of 400 brokers done for ERA Real Estate, the average buyer now pays a total of $1,725 in closing costs. Here is how that breaks down: Loan origination, $760; title search, $400, appraisal, $188; home inspection, $150; survey, $125; termite inspection, $45; credit check, $37; deed recording, $20. ***

A vaccine widely used against meningitis -- a brain inflammation -- is safe and effective, according to a recent study in "Pediatrics" magazine.

In the study, a total of 87,541 children, ages 2 through 5, was given the vaccine, which proved to be effective against the form of meningitis caused

by Haemophilus influenzae. The vaccine's most common side effect is tenderness at the injection site. This type of meningitis strikes more than 12,000 children under age 5 annually, killing 5 percent and causing neurological problems for up to 35 percent of the remainder. ***

Members, this year is our time, again, in 1987 so let's make this a bigger group picture than before. I hope you will enjoy seeing yourself on these pictures in the Vestnik. I enjoy looking at all these pictures and trying to remember all the members how good we looked when we were young; some were babies, yet.

9 To Hold Annual Supper And Games Lodge

I he Snook SPJST Lodge met in regular session on March 4 at 7:30 p .m .

President Richard Vajdak called the meeting to order. Officers who were absent were James Schoeneman and Donnie Victorick.

Matthew Jakubik led the group in tile Pledge of Allegiance.

District I had a St. Patrick's party and dance at New Tabor on March 13th.

We will have our annual chicken/dumpling supper and games on Saturday, April 11 starting 'at 5:30 With no further business the meeting adjourned. Our next meeting w ill be on April 1 at 7:30 p.m.

15 Buckholts Meeting

Lodge

Dear Members and Friends: Our meeting was called to order by President Joe Zajicek.

We stood for the Pledge of Allegiance and then continued with the meeting.

Our secretary read the minutes from the last meeting; everything was approved as read.

Visitors were Edith Kanemetro, Thomas Harwell and Dan Balusek.

Thanks for coming. Visitors are always welcome.

Plans at this time are under way for the "42" Tournament at our Lodge No. 15, so plan on coming and enjoy the day with us.

Those attending the District II meeting at Lovelady, Texas (way out in East Texas) from our lodge were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Zajicek, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Sakewitz, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Schillar, and Mrs. Dan Balusek.

I must say the meeting was outstanding. The fellowship and friendliness had to be 100 percent.

Thanks for inviting us. Everyone had a wonderful time.

Lodge 23, Moravia Met On l uesday, March 10, 1987 SPJST Lodge No. 23 met. The meeting was called to order by Brother Albert Olsovsky. Our meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence was offered for the deceased members of our lodge, especially, Julius Olsovsky recently deceased.

Minutes of the previous meeting were read by Sister Hattie Brossmann and approved as read. There were sixteen (16) members present.

Communications from Supreme Lodge in I emple were discussed: 1. Invitation to the Domino and Tarocky Tournaments was announced.

2. Activity sheet was filled out.

3. Announcement of Orientation Course being held in Belton was presented.

Brother Eddie Vrana read the treasurer's report. Also suggestions Are made for money - making projects to give the lodge more income.

Fifty - year pins were presented to Sister Cecelia Herzik, Sister Lillian Schneider, Sister Bessie Kubos, Sister Willie Mae Broz, Brother Willie Hrncir and Brother Alfons Schwartz.

Members not present to receive 50 year pins were Sister Eda Muska and Brother L.A. Wenglar.

A motion was made by Sister Dorothy Olsovsky to adjourn the meeting and was seconded by Sister Elizabeth Olsovsky. The meeting was adjourned and refreshments were enjoyed by all.

No. 28, East Bernard Meeting

Lodge

Dear Members: The April monthly meeting of Lodge Karel Jonas will be held on the second Sunday (12th). This is being done because the District VI spring meeting will be held on the first Sunday (5th) and the regular meeting date. Local rules on meetings automatically move the meeting date to the next available Sunday when an event and/or holiday of major importance fall on the first Sunday.

The regular "Order of Business" will

be followed. The agenda will cover happenings in the district meeting and the_ usual reports.

The luncheon social, after the meeting, will be held upstairs in the hall. Those wishing to bring something may do so but it is not mandatory.

There will be coffee already made in the coffee pot. There is a good chance the lodge may contribute something for the luncheon since it is the Easter season.

Convening at 2 p.m., the March monthly meeting on the 1st lasted under an .hour. All reports were accepted as given. One report, although not directly related to the lodge, reported that the Czech National Cemetery at East Bernard was hit by a tornado. Damage was slight with a few headstones being turned over by fallen trees. This report was given because a major portion of those persons laid to rest in the cemetery were members of Lodge No. 28 and many of their families still are.

Iwo motions were made and passed.

I he first motion instructed how the nineteen (19) 50 - year pins were to be handled. The second motion made and accepted by the chair was to take care of lodge business.

The door prize was won by Sister Julie Janik.

After the meeting, the luncheon social was held upstairs in the hall with most of those present attending. All of the food for the luncheon was donated by Sisters Janik, Hanzelka, Srubar, Kortis, Luquette, Nezval and Brother A.J. "Tony" Kelner. Sister Luquette, again, sent something even though she -could not attend. The fellowship was enjoyed by all present.

66 March Meeting

President George Pauling called our meeting to order at 2:30 p.m. on March 15th. The flagbearers presented the colors and Michael Warren led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance.

All officers were present. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

Everyone was asked to stand for a moment of silent prayer for our departed members, Alice Bruns and Jack Romine. -

Correspondence was read from Supreme Lodge President Howard Leshikar and Secretary/Treasurer Leonard Mikeska. Topics included the "Fraternalist of the Year" forms, Officers' Orientation to be held on May 2 and the Taroky Tournament.

The Entertainment Committee would be serving stew, salad and dessert at the Domino Tournament on March 28th. At our April meeting (April 12) ladies are asked to bring a covered dish for a meal to be held at 1:30 p.m. The committee will furnish cookies. A mural has been picked and will be put up shortly.

Sister Jeanette Smith gave the 1. raternal Committee report. A total of $765 was given to different charities and organizations.

Sympathy cards were sent to the Frank Bruns family - and the Leon Hensel family. A get well card was sent to Sister Rose Parma.

Youth Leader Gladys Yates reported there were 24 members present at the youth meeting and one new member, Justin Gaidusek. The youth have decided to adopt a nursing home and visit with the residents at least once a month or do something special for them on holidays. There will be an Easter egg hunt at our next month's meeting.

President Pauling presented Sister Parma with a check for the Trust Fund. Sister Parma thanked him.

New members accepted are O.E. Blume, Jr., Dorothy Staccone and Evelyn and Randall Sanders. Transfers accepted from Lodge 54 are Kay, Carla and Bryan Maynard.

Resolutions of Sympathy were read for our departed members.

Results of our local Straight Domino Tournament were given. First place went to Otis Ceska and Leslie Dunnagan, second place -- Cory Pruitt and George Pauling, third place -Johnnie Gaidusek and Ira Niswanger, and fourth place -- Rosie and Weldon (jailer.

Our next meeting date has been changed to Sunday, April 12 since Easter falls on the third Sunday of the month. Please make a note of this change on your calendars!

District 111 spring meeting will be held on May 3 at Elk. Members are asked to attend if possible.

There was a great deal of discussion brought up about "Direct Billing." A vote was taken to see it' our lodge would convert to this process. It ended in a tie.

Our door prize winner was Sister Irene Mueller.

Members celebrating birthdays in the month of March are Batt Vernetti, Richard Pruitt, Anna Vernetti, Maurine Trefny, Bill Warren, Kathy Warren and Dorothy Warren.

Lodge Jaro No. 130 Monthly Meeting MARCH, 1987 Our meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by minutes read by Secretary Martha Vrla and treasurer's report by Brother Bob oates.

Fraternal Council Representative Brother Arnold Vrla stated that the April meeting will be at the Czech Club on Military Parkway on April 21st at T:30 p.m. He also reported that the plans for International Days in Dallas were going Well and encouraged everyone to attend April 24th - 26th. the event opens with a parade at 11 a.m. Downtown City Hall Complex (w here the event is held each year), followed by dancing, singing, foods and liquid refreshments available from over 30 different ethnic groups. The schedule for the weekend is as follows: Friday -- II a.m. to 7 p.m.

Saturday -- 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Sunday, 12 Noon to 7 p.m.

Helpers are needed for the Czech booth where kolace and strudle, plus liquid refreshments, will be served.

Beseda Director Sister Helen Vrla reported that the dancers received an invitation to the Czech Heritage Festival in Corpus Christi on March 28th. Sister Vrla is recovering from foot surgery and please join us in wishing her a speedy recovery.

After President Vincent Hechler called the Danbury Lodge 139 meeting to order March 11, Secretary Tommie Lostak read the minutes of the last meeting and correspondence received in the past month. Financial Secretary Helen Filipp and Treasurer Lonnie Lostak gave their reports.

Linda Piper, a representativ e of the skrabanek Park improvement Committee, stated the committee is having a fund - raiser barbecue and asked the lod ge for a donation for the Park Fund. Members voted to donate $100 to the fund. Linda was presented with a check for that amount before the meeting ended.

Final plans were made for the lodge barbecue to be held March 28 at Vrazel's Ballroom. Besides barbecue with all the trimmings and desserts, there will he drawing for door prizes.

A social was held after the meeting adjourned.

Dear Members and Friends: First I want to thank you all for your cards, prayers and thoughtfulness. I thought I had the flu and it turned out to be pneumonia. I'm just now getting some energy. We extend our "get well" wishes to Sister Lillie McMillen 01 Lodge 92 who also has pneumonia.

We still have a lot of members fighting the flu and do hope it won't be long before this will all be behind us.

We are happy to report Brother Frank Picha is recuperating at home and doing well We extend our heartfelt sympathy to Sister Lillian Smith and the family on the loss of her husband, Brother Charles E. Smith; he died at his home at age 69. May he rest in eternal peace.

We welcomed home all our travelers -- Melissa Johnson and Jill Parker from Boston, Massachusetts who reported a wonderful time; Brother Jerry and Sister Donna Parker after a week in London, England who had a lot to talk about; Sister Henrietta Milan from a trip to Chicago, Illino's where she attended I ony Bennett's One - Man Art Show Exhibit at the Austin Gallery. She also had her

picture taken with Tony. On Sunday, she attended Sokol l abor's G ∎ mnastic Exhihnion, the first she has seen there in 29 years. She was amazed at the class of 55 seniors up to the age of 85.

Friday evening, Brother Emil and Sister Sally Milan came in from a week in Hong Islong, Singapore, China and then San Francisco, Honolulu and I aipei. Sister Sally was lucky winning this trip at an American Airlines Banquet. I hey reported a wonderful time.

Brother Roy and Sister Lydia Aiholm arri‘ed home ,sesterday from their !first n trip to Las Vegas and they thought it vv as a small world running into Roy 's nephew from California.

They enjoyed being with him and also had a big time.

Lodge 172, Pasadena Activities As you may or may not have noticed, your reporter hasn't been writing you as often as usual, but here is a good reason. For a period of 7 weeks he has been working from 7 p.m;until 7 a.m. 7 nights a week. I am sure those of you, who have worked that shift, understand that you don't feel much like writing reports and also don't have the opportunity to attend the meetings, etc. to keep up with what is going on to'write about, so hope you will forgive.

At this time, however, I wanted to write and remind everyone that we will be having a SOCIAL for all dues paying members and only $6 per person for guests. All food will be furnished by the lodge but we would appreciate it if you want to donate a cake or pie. Music will be by the Vaneks who play a large variety of music. Come on out and join us; a good time will be had by all. Dinner will be served from I to 3 p.m.; dancing, 3 to 7 p.m.

I would also like to mention that on Friday night, April 10th, there is going to be a benefit dance put on by the Junior Forum of Pasadena. Music will be by the Tel Stars Band which is country/western and we understand that this is a very good band. The money for this benefit will go to support the Education Center for the Retarded and also the Residence For Retarded Adults. I his is a very good cause and the dance tickets are only S15 per person, which includes both dinner and dance. We hear that the hall will be decorated with a western theme which sounds very attractive.

This affair will start at 8 p.m. and last until 12 midnight. This will be a very good opportunity to do something to help the less fortunate and to enjoy yourselves at the same time, so let's all support this benefit. We have another member who has suffered the loss of a loved one this past week. Mrs. Lou Smith, the mother of Bob Smith, passed away quite suddenly on March 13th and was laid to rest on March 16th. I have known this lady for over 25 years and I not only want to offer our condolences for her family but also feel a very personal loss. Mrs. Smith was one of the most truly good and honest people I have ever had the good fortune to count among my friends, and I feel very fortunate to have had the pleasure of knowing her. I am sure she will be missed by both family and friends, because she was a most exceptional person.

Dear Readers: Preparations are in full swing for the upcoming presentation of "Kos to zafidi," a three - act Czech - speaking comedy, in the Cozy Theater of Schulenburg on Sunday, April 12th.

1 he occasion promises to be a memorable event, especially for those who understand the Czech language.

Festivities will begin at 1:30 p.m., when the Moravia Czech Heritage Singers, under the direction of Marion Lenser from Moulton, will sing many of your favorite Czech songs.

Enterta'inment between acts will be provided by the Beseda Dancers of Fayetteville, under the direction of Helen Mikus, and by the children of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Bonner and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Cernosek.

Czech - style refreshments will be available in the lobby all afternoon.

The play will be presented by the Czech players of Hlahol Drama Club 61 Lodge No. 88, Houston. In English, we call the play "Kos Will Fix It," knowing full well that this is not a correct or direct translation of "Kos to zalidi." When you see the play you will understand why. Oh, Dominik, how can you make such a mess of things? Now, Dominik Kos, played by actor/director Jan Schro'; I, is the main character in the play -- the village matchmaker. When Kos tries to arrange marriages between the village's eligible bachelors and some of the local single girls, all of his plans (arrangements) fah apart and he has to try. to "fix them up." If only things went smoothly for Kos, we would have to call the play "Kos will arrange it." he admitting donation for the play is only $3.50 per person.

Alter the play (approximately 4:30 p.m.), a buffet will be available for S5 per plate.

I he entire afternoon of entertainment is being sponsored by Backstage Inc. of Schulen burg, which is a non - profit organization dedicated to bringing the arts and drama to Schulenburg and vicinity. Backstage, Inc. and Hlahol Drama Club hope this C cut will, in some way, help to preserve the use of the Czech language in texas.

In Texas" Film To Be Shown In Victoria "Czech

A one - half hour film about the Czechs in Texas will be televised in the Victoria area on Sunday, April 5, 1987 at 10 p.m. on KVCT Channel 19.

According to Matt Vanek of Victoria this film is on immigrants who entered Texas through Galveston.

The film was produced by the SPJST Fraternal Life Insurance Society of Temple, Texas and is available upon request to local civic organizations.

Lodge 66, Waco YC Activities Dear Members; We had our youth club meeting on March 15th. There were 24 members, 7 adults and one visitor, Lori Kocian, present. Lori, come back and visit again. We had one new member, Justin Gaidusek. Justin, welcome to our club!

We had our kite -.flying contest. The wind and weather were just right. We all had a great time and I think our parent!, enjoyed it as much as we did.

All the youth were given a prize for flying their kite.

The youth club is in the process of adopting a nursing home that we can do things for and visit. We will discuss this at our next meeting and finalize our plans.

We are planning a skating trip this month. We will go to Skate World at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9th. Be sure to make this outing and you may bring a friend with you.

We are going to collect the proof - of - purchase labels from Freshlike ve getables for a money - making project. We would like for all members to save these for us.

meeting will be held on April 5, 1987 at 2 p.m. We will be electing new officers for the upcoming year; afterwards, we will have an Easter egg hunt and covered dish supper.

Our Beseda practices are getting off to a great start, any member who is interested can attend practices on Thursday nights from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Lodge 74 YC Entertains At Nursing Home The March 11, 1987 meeting of Lodge Lovelady No. 74 Youth Club was called to order at 7:20 p.m. by President Scott Listiak.

Travis McKenney led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag and members remained standing for a moment of silent prayer.

The register was read. There were 18 members and 6 adults present.

Guests introduced were Mrs. Kolb and Christy Millican.

The minutes were read and approved.

Kathy Listiak gave the treasurer's report and the balance is $582.52.

This month's social was a District 11 Spring meeting at Lodge No 74 at Lovelady on March 22 at 2 p.m.

The charity project was entertaining at the nursing home (photos are accompanying my report).

10/VESTNiK—Wednesday, April 1, 1987 and sausage, potato salad, beans, coleslaw, vegetable tray with dip, pickles, onions and bread. Desserts consisted of authentic Czech pastries, kolache, strudel and cookies. Keg beer, soft drinks and tea were served.

Recorded music was provided by a disc jockey and a grand march was led

by Ted and Cora Nowak.

The newlyweds enjoyed a week in the snow at Breckenridge, Colorado before making their home in Southwest Houston.

The bride and her parents are members of Lodge No 88, Houston.

Our Youth Leader Sherry McKenney reported on our visits to the nursing homes.

Youth members enjoyed having cookies and cokes for refreshments.

Our after - meeting activities were dancing and refreshments.

The next youth club meeting will be on April 8, 1987 at Lodge No. 74.

Features Koch-Akers Wedding Pamela Kay Akers and Gregory Thomas Koch were united in holy matrimony on Saturday, February 21, 1987. The afternoon wedding was held at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Houston with Father Tom Rafferty officiating.

Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Lee Akers. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Philip Koch Ill. Both sets of parents are from Houston, Texas.

The bride was given in marriage by her father. Her mother wore a beautiful floor - length designer gown of fuschia Quiana, fashioned with a sheer yoke and long sleeves of Venice lace. The mother of the groom wore a two - piece full - length gown of imported silk. The wine - colored gown

had a V - neck and long sleeves. She carried a matching clutch handbag.

Both mothers wore white rose corsages and were presented with a pink rose by the bride before the ceremony. Both fathers wore gray suits with pink carnation boutonnieres.

For her wedding, the bride chose a designer gown of candlelight silk organza and satin, lavishly trimmed with Alencon lace. The basque waist featured a sheer yoke with pearl and lace trim. The unique sleeve was designed with a silk rose at the shoulder pouf and extended to a fitted sleeve, closing at the wrist with tiny satin buttons. Appliques of lace adorned the graceful skirt which was bordered with pleated lace, sweeping to a cathedral - length train, the finger tip veil of illusion fell from a wreath of silk roses and pearls. She wore dangling pearl earrings and carried a cascade of pink roses, Swedish ivy, aaby's breath and pink ribbons.

The groom wore a gray classic cutaway tux with an ascot tie. In his lapel was a pink rose from the bride's bouquet.

Maid of Honor was Nancy Hammond. The other attendants to the bride were Angela Salyer, Tammy Schiller (cousin of the bride) and Barbara Norris. They all wore dusty rose southern - style floor - length taffeta gowns with long fitted sleeves.

The shoulders and bodice back were trimmed with ruffles of the same material which also molded the pouf of the upper sleeves. The fitted waistline came to a point in front and the back of the skirt had an overlay accentuated by a flower bow of matching taffeta. They wore dusty rose silk flowers in their hair and carried a nosegay of pink carnations.

Michae/ Koah, brother of the groom, was Best Man. Groomsmen were John Howell, Manuel Zepeda and Billy Rehmet. They wore gray classic stroller tuxes with a pink carnation.

The ushers were David Moeller, brother - in - law of the groom, David Salyer and Ernie Norris who were dressed in black tuxedos accented with dusty rose cummerbunds and bow ties and a pink carnation.

Two nieces of the groom, Lisa Koch and Amanda Moeller were Junior bridesmaids. They wore full - length dresses of silk taffeta that matched the bridesmaids' dresses. They carried a silk bouquet of pink, burgundy, and rose - colored flowers with ribbon streamers. They wore headbands of dusty rose silk flowers.

Where were two flower girls, Rebecca Koch and Kimberly Moeller, nieces of the groom, who carried lace umbrellas filled with pink, burgundy, and rose - colored flowers and ribbon streamers. They wore dresses of dusty rose taffeta overlaid with shimmery, ivory fantasia and around their head was a halo of baby's breath with dusty rose ribbon streamers. Sharon Koch, sister - in - law of the groom, made the Junior bridesmaids', flower girls' and pen attendants' dresses.

The ring bearer at the double - ring ceremony was Eric Koch, nephew of the groom. He wore a gray cutaway tux that matched the groom's. He carried a white satin heart - shaped pillow made by the bride's mother that was trimmed with pleated lace that matched the lace on the bride's dress.

The reception followed in the church's Activity Center with nieces of the groom serving as pen attendants.

They were Laua Koch and Christana N4oeller who received the guests and handed them thank you scrolls. They wore pink moire taffeta dresses.

There were two lace - decorated tables. One held the 5 - tiered wedding, cake adorned with pink carnations and greenery. The top layer had a bride and groom under a flowered archway.

This table also held mixed fruit punch which was served in the bride's grandmother's sculptured crystal punch bowl. On the adjacent table was the groom's cake which was decorated with a stream and deer grazing to represent the groom's hobby of hunting and the love of nature. It was a two - layer chocolate cake made by the bride's great - aunt, Bea Lejsal.

Coffee was also served in a silver tea set on this table.

A Texas - style buffet dinner was served by friends. Friends and relatives helped with donations of food. The meal consisted of barbecued brisket

The Rev. 1-rank Walker performed the double - ring ceremony at the laylor Brethren Church before an altar decorated with two brass floor candelabras and a white floral altar an angel-nem in memory of the groom's parents. \Ir. and Mrs. Edwin Adarnek of Ciranger were special parents tor the groom's deceased parents.

The family pews were marked with large peach and navy bow s, doves and candles.

Organ music was pro‘ ided by Anita Volek. Soloist Bo McKinney sang To Me," "We've Onl, Just Begun," "You Needed Nle, and "The \\edding Song."

Bonnie Ratlike was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Tammy Strmiska, Laury Wagner, Becky Mazyrack and Lillie Vanek. They wore floor - length dresses of peach crepe de - chine with a peach lace overlay window skirt. "f he dresses featured a fittt..td bodice with a sweetheart neckline and puffed sleeves; a large peach bow was centered in the back at the waistline. They carried a large single naNy orchid, accented with greenery, baby's breath and a large tulle bow. Their hair was adorned with a hair comb made of baby's breath and ribbon. Kathryn Adamek designed all of the flowers for the wedding.

The flower maid, Erica Wagner, niece of the bride, wore a white taffeta and dotted swiss floor - length dress. It was accented with peach bows along the hemline ruffle. She was escorted by Kyle Kaiser, who wore a navy tuxedo with tails. Flower girls were Kristen Rieger, Jennifer Fankle, Lisa Veazey and Courtney Veazey. They wore floor - length dresses of peach taffeta and dotted swiss, accented with a navy satin sash and navy bows at the hemline ruffle. A halo of baby's breath, peach and blue satin roses completed their ensemble. They carried a white lace umbrella filled with potpourri. Alaina Harbin was honorary flower girl.

For his wedding, the groom chose a white tuxedo with tails. His boutonniere was a peach rose bud.

Ronnie Rieger was best man.

Groomsmen were James Wagner, Phillip Wagner, brothers of the bride, Arnie Safarik and Tim Kaiser. They wore navy tuxedos with tails and had a peach rose for a boutonniere. Tommy Kotrlaavas honorary groomsman.

Mrs. Michael C. Kaiser rin gbearer. Candlelighters were Heather Rhoades and Nikki Harrison.

Ushers were Bud Johle, Gary Johle, Ricky Kaiser and Brad Rhoades. the bride was given in marriage by her parents and entered on the arm of her father. For her wedding, the bride designed and made her formal gown of white satin. It featured a Queen Anne neckline and a fitted bodice accented with pearl - encrusted Alencon lace.

Her lon g sleeves of organza featured a lace inlay and tapered to a lined, lace wrist band. Bridal buttons fastened the bodice back and wrist. The graceful, slightly gathered skirt fell into a cathedral train. The skirt was adorned with lace appliques of re - embroidered lace motifs. The hemline was edged in scalloped rc - embroidered lace. The dress featured over 3,000 hand - sewn pearls.

The bride also designed and made her fingertip veil of illusion, held in place by a halo of white silk roses, white leaves and waterfall pearls.

The bride carried a cascading bouquet of gardenias, white lilac, white stephanotis, and accented with lace and ribbon bows. it was made around a bible her mother used in her wedding.

Following the ceremony, a dinner and dance reception was held at the Taylor SPJST Hall. Music for the dance was provided by Country Pride.

Mr. and Mrs. Bob Burns led the grand march.

Voight the hall was decorated with the bride's chosen colors of peach and navy blue. Peach ribbons draped from a large double heart decorated with lace, silk flowers and does adorned the center of the hall. I .ace hearts, silk flowers, and candles provided the decoration for the guests' tables: The bridesmaids bouquets and hurricane lamps were used to decorate the head table. The bride's table featured a three - tiered confection made by the bride. It sat a fountain w ith six satellite cakes decorated with silk flowers and joined by ribbons to the main cake.

1 he groom's table was decorated with greenery and cotton bolls and featured a cake in the shape of a cotton bale with the inscription of "Kaiser farms."

The bride is a graduate of Taylor High School and is employed with the City of 1 aylor as a collection clerk.

She is also a member of the Johns Hospital Auxiliary.

The groom is a graduate of 1 hrall High School and is engaged in farming.

After a wedding trip to Reno and Lake jahoe, the couple will be at home in their new house at Route 2, Taylor.

I he rehearsal dinner was held at the Taylor SPJST Hall and hosted by the g room and bride's parents.

The groom is secretary of Lodge No. 29, Taylor and the bride is a member of Lodge No. 29.

who died Sunday, March 15, 1987 at his home, at the a ge of 69.

Brother Smith served as a mechanic in the Army Air Corps during World War II and served in North Africa and the European Theatre. He retired from the City of Fort Worth in 1977 after 30 years of service as a traffic engineer.

He was a 45 - year member of the International Brother hood of Electrical Workers' Local Union No. 59, the St. Thomas Men's Club, Saint Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Fort Worth and SPJST Lodge No. 154.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian Smith : of Fort Worth; daughters, Barbara Orand and her husband, George Orand of Fort Worth; Sharron Connelly of Burleson; sisters, Louise Baker, Billie Autrey and Marie Runge, all of Fort Worth; . seven grandchildren; sixgreat grandchildren.

who passed away on Monday, March 9, 1987 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in San Angelo.

A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass was held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 11 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rowena with the Rev. Richard Altenbaugh of Rowena, and Frank Drudo, deacon at Sacred Heart Cathedral, officiating.

Burial was at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, directed by Johnson's Funeral Home.

Mrs. Dorotik was born 14 February 1900 in Texas. She had lived in Dallas for 25 years before moving to Vancourt. She married John Dorotik on 26 December 1917 in Rowena. He preceded her in death on 8 July 1959.

A son, EdWard Dorotik, also preceded her in death.

She is survived by two daughters, Lillie Orsak of San Angelo and Viola Quirl of : Dallas; one son, Le Roy Dorotik of Vancourt; two sisters, Emily Liska and Annie Filgas, both of Eureka, California; 11 grandchildren, and 23 great - grandchildren.

12/VESTNIK—Wednesday, April 1, 1987 87, who passed away Tuesday, March 17, 1987 in a Lewistown, Montana nursing home after a long illness.

Mr. and Mrs. Hala were married for 62 years. She and her husband, V. Hala, were longtime residents of Corpus Christi, Texas. They were active members of the Sokol Hall in Corpus Christi. She and her husband were both natives of Czechoslovakia.

SuNlvors include her husband, V. Hala of Lewistown, Montana; three daughters, Libby Ackerman of Roanoke, Virginia, Helen Dulak of Austin and Mary Ann Dodd of Corpus Christi, Texas; two sons, Leo Hala of Dallas, Texas and Charles Hala of Hilger, Montana; 13 grandchildren and numerous great - grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m.

Saturday, March 21 under the direction of Cloyd Funeral Home in Lewistown, Montana.
