organization to have a constant flow of new ideas in order that it can remain vibrant and responsive to the constant changes around us. The major portion of the committees' efforts are devoted to matters that _correspond with their assigned functions. However, the committees are not restricted and can consider and brainstorm any matter that might be in the best interests of the SPJST. _ The Products Committee is charged with matters dealing with marketing and marketing - related areas. This inclades the broad area concerning sales, advertising, developing new products, membership services, and planning the future product needs of the Society. The Fraternal Activities Committee considers matters dealing with the fraternal programs of the Society. Its responsibilities include items such as the scholarship program, local lodge fraternal programs, fraternal services and various fraternal affairs. The Financial Planning Committee deals with financial related matters. It studies and makes recommendations on general investment policies, the mortgage loan program, interest rates

New committee appointments were made during the January 1987 Supreme Lodge meeting. The purpose of the committees is to facilitate the flow of business during regular Supreme Lodge meetings. The committees meet prior to each Supreme Lodge meeting and on other occasions if the need arises. The three committees are the Products Committee, the Fraternal Activities Committee and the Financial Planning Committee. The committees assist the Supreme Lodge by considering matters assigned to them. Each committee then has an opportunity to consider matters in depth and to recommend a well researched course of action. The Supreme Lodge has the benefit of a well thought through course of action on the many complex decisions that must be made at each Supreme Lodge meeting. An additional benefit derived from the committee approach has been a flow of new ideas.. The smaller_ groups seem to be more conducive to creative ideas.. It is necessary for every
