Annual Reports Of Supreme Lodge Officers And Directors Annual Report Of Your Chairman Of The Board Supreme Lodge, SPJST
Cyril J. Pokladnik Sisters and Brothers: It is my great pleasure to report to you again on the activities, progress and accomplishments -- of our Society. The year just closed was probably, in all areas, one of the greatest in the history of our Fraternity. Details for the year will be fully reported by each individual Supreme Lodge officer. During the past year 1986, it was my pleasure as chairman of your Board and as District III director to attend a number of State and National meetings of the Fraternal System. I find such attendance is educational and valuable. The interchange of ideas, among the Fraternal Societies, is most valuable. This is particularly important, for it keeps us informed of the many changes facing the Fraternal System. Working together and with united efforts, I am certain that we will be able to maintain our fraternal status. Our Society, the SPJST, has grown through the years into a strong organization, fully capable of adjusting to any and all changes that may confront us.
As a democratic Society, you as a member of the Society -- hold equal rights with all other members. You are a vital part of a great organization. Each four years, in our Conventions, your voice may be, heard and the mandates of the majority govern the Society. Your Supreme Lodge officers and directors abide by your mandates. I urge that you make plans for the 1988 Convention to be held in Temple, Texas. As you study the Officers' and Directors' Annual Reports, you will become aware of the functions of each department, and their responsibility for the growth and financial strength of the Society. We must never forget that we are first a Fraternal Insurance Society. It is only, as we grow in this area, that we can afford the many benefits that we furnish our membership. To mention a few -- Our Vestnik, our youth fund, the scholarships, the rest homes, the refunds to members and lodges, our mortgages loans to members and many others. Our computer has been fully updated and our records and controls are being handled currently. Service to the members and local lodges is now handled on a professional basis. We are continuing and expanding our charitable projects. In this, we ask all lodges and members to participate. If you have any local charitable or civic projects, I would appreciate your reporting them to the Supreme Lodge. Your local projects build good will for the Fraternal System. As chairman of your Board of Directors, I would like to express my appreciation for the opportunity of service, it has been a great experience. The year 1986 was one of great accomplishment for your Society. In closing, I wish to extend an invitation to you to visit your Supreme Lodge Home Office and Museum in Temple, Texas. You will be warmly greeted and have an opportunity to see your home office at work. Finally, I must thank you again for the many invitations and many courtesies you have extended to Justine and me during this past year. We, Justine and I, wish all members the very best of everything in 1987. Sincerely and fraternally, C RILL

Annual Report Of SPJST Supreme Lodge President
Howard Leshikar
Dear Fellow Members: Congratulations! Once again, through your enthusiasm and hard work you have helped to lift the SPJST Society to new heights in every area. In 1986 the host of Sesquicentennial activities provided the perfect opportunity for reflection upon our many cultural and historical contributions, and highlighted the importance of renewal and revitalization. The importance of our mission as a fraternal benefit society has never been more challenging, but, thanks to the vision of loyal fraternalists, our Society has the infrastructure in its strong lodge system to meet the challenges ahead. Indeed, the quality and dedication of its leadership at the local lodge level is the key to the perpetuation of our Society. As my family and I had the opportunity to participate in and assist with many of your functions, we have been impressed and encouraged by the hard work and dedication of the membership. We would like to express our appreciation for the many opportunities we have had to take part
in your lodge activities. Also, thank you to those directors, officers, and members of the Headquarters staff whose cooperation and counsel have made our program of work in 1986 both a pleasure and a success. Your loyalty to SPJST and its mission is deeply appreciated. Here at the Home Office every department has worked diligently to provide quality service and member satisfaction. As a result, our new products have been well - received by our members, with many updating their insurance program. We are especially grateful to our members and our sales force for their patience and professionalism through the hectic first months of 1986. To provide our members with greater benefits and a wider assortment of products, we have begun conversion of two traditional products to the 1980 CSO tables. We anticipate these upgraded policies will provide additional flexibility in financial planning and will generate continued sales. We urge each member to review his program of insurance and seek the assistance of our many volunteer sales people to help explore the many benefits of SPJST membership for his entire family. This year, as well as last year, real strides were made in the SPJST's program for youth. A new youth club was established at Lodge 191, Lufkin, and another is being organized. Three other lodges are seeking information on establishing youth clubs. In addition, participation at State YAD increased in all areas; there were 80 additional youth participants. Over 650 parents and friends attended this function. Our summer camp attendance also increased; 535 youth took part in fraternal activities designed for fun, fellowship, and the development of leadership skills. We had 90 more youth campers than two years ago. Our sincere thanks to the parents, local youth leaders and the District Youth Counselors, who devoted many hours to the youth program. Also our State Youth Director deserves special recognition for coordinating the many projects designed for our youth. This year, at the Texas Fraternal Congress in Austin, our State King John See, III with Queen Sherry Michka, led our youth in an outstanding display of (Continued On Page 3...)
