SPJST Chairman of the Board Sid Pokladnik was a delegate to the recently held National Fraternal Congress Convention in Washington, D.C. Sid [left] is having a cup of coffee with Jim Ballew at the National Fraternal Congress Convention. Jim is Editor of the Fraternal Monitor, a trade journal for Fraternal Benefit Societies in U.S. and Canada.

Member Receives Honorable Mention Ann Schoeneman, member of SPJST Lodge No. 9, Snook, recently received Honorable Mention in the National Fraternal Congress of America (NFCA) poster and photography contest. Mrs. Schoeneman competed with other NFCA Societies in this nationwide contest celebrating the NFCA's 100th year of existence. Mrs. Schoeneman's poster depicted children clasping hands to emphasize the NFCA's motto "Joining Hands To Touch Lives."
Mrs. Schoeneman is married to James I. Schoeneman of Snook; they have two daughters, Kathy Yeager of Nevada and Sandra Schoeneman of Snook. Mrs. Schoeneman spends a great deal of her time volunteering her services to the youth in the area. She is assistant youth leader of SPJST Lodge No. 9 and is assistant district youth counselor for District I. She is currently chairman of the 4 H and Youth Committee for Burleson County and recently received an outstanding volunteer leader's award for her services with the 4 - H Program.' Mikeska To Join Fraternal Board Leonard D. Mikeska of Temple recently was elected to the five member Board of Directors of the Texas Fraternal Congress during the organization's annual convention in Austin. Mikeska also serves as Secretary/Treasurer of the Slavonic Benevolent Order of the State of Texas. The Texas Fraternal Congress, with an aggregate membership of 567,000, is composed of 24 fraternal benefit societies in Texas. Amos Pavlik of La Grange, president of the Czech Catholic Union of Texas, was elected president of the congress. Other officers are Stanley Pat ak of Dallas, delegate from
Western Fraternal Life Association, first vice president; Jim Webb of Mesquite, high vice chief ranger of the Independent Order of Foresters, second vice president; and Arlelia Houston, Thymes of secretary/treasurer of the Grand Court, Order of Calanthe, third vice president. William G. Noble of San • Antonio, public relations director of the Order of the Sons of Hermann in Texas, was re - elected secretary/treasurer of the congress.
