Lodge 29, Taylor was the setting for the first SPJST Taroky Tournament. All participants and guests were treated to a day full of friendly competition, socializing and a delicious barbecue meal provided by Lodge 29. Tournament play began at 0 a.m. and by mid - afternoon sixteen players had advanced to the semi - finals. The semi - finalists were J.J. Kubala, Carol Petty, Ed Jansen, Fran din Jansen, Lydia
Schlesinger, Daniel Hejl, Lillian Hejl, Albert Jaska, Emil Hanus, Johnnie Gaidusek, Arthur Marak, D.I. Bohac, Albert Kubala, Henry Kubala, Tommie Lostak and Alphonse Petter.
