Veionika [Muhlstein] Hlavac became the 75th person to outlive her SPJST certificate. She is a member of SPJST Lodge No. 23, Moravia.

Sister Hlavac Outlives Policy Sister Veronika (Muhlstein) Hlavac has attained the age of 96 and is the 75th person in the history of the SPJST to outlive the actuarial table of her life insurance policy.

Veronika (Muhlstein) Hlavac was born in Pizek, Czechoslovakia, November 24, 1888. She came to America with her parents and her brothers and sisters in 1895. The family arrived by boat and landed at

Galveston and then proceeded to Schulenburg by train. They made their home at Hackberry and chose the occupation of farming for their livelihood.

February 27, 1911, she was married to John Hlavac. The young couple made their home in Hungerford and later moved to a farm in Lavaca County area Their union was blessed with six daughters and five sons. Her husband passed away January 18, 1934. Mrs. Hlavac continued to farm with the aid of her children.

Her surviving children are Annie Boehm, Alma Brosch, Vlasta Holik, Agnes Holik, Mary Zappe, Lado Hlavac, Franklin Hlavac and Willie Hlavac. One infant daughter passed away May 27, 1917; one son Raymond Hlavac died November 19, 1962 and another son Johnny Hlavac died February 11, 1980.

For many years Mrs. Hlavac continued to live Avith her children.

Her favorite hobby was quilting. Since October 1980, she has resided in a rest home. She currently resides in the Stevens Convalescent Center.

The SPJST Supreme Lodge and the members of SPJST Lodge No. 23, Moravia extend congratulations and best wishes to Sister Hlavac and wish her well.

At this time of every year, many Americans -- bruised and battered from another struggle with their taxes -- wonder whether they need the help of a professional financial planner.

Financial advice is widely available from a host of specialists, including tax accountants, lawyers, bankers, insurance sales persons and investment brokers. But many people, finding advice from such sources limited and fragmented, are turning to a relatively new group of specialists called financial planners.

The job of a financial planner is to examine everything relevant to your financial situation -- wills, insurance policies, tax returns, employe benefits, assets and liabilities, where your money comes from and where it goes.

When the study is complete, the planner will prepare a written report, with specific recommendations for reaching your long - term financial goals. It is up to you to implement the plan. A financial planner does not replace your accountant, lawyer or insurance person but advises you on how best to use their services.

Not everybody needs -- or can afford -- a financial planner. If you earn $35,000 or more per year, however, you probably need regular financial advice of some type.

Before you hire a financial planner, you should know how he or she is to be paid. There are three main ways: One, a fee based on a flat hourly rate, your net worth or the size of your investment portfolio. Two, the planner gets commissions from companies that sell you financial services. Three, the planner receives both a fee and commissions. Weigh the costs carefully against benefits you hope to gain.

In seeking a financial planner, first ask friends -- then your banker, accountant or lawyer who will have to work with the planner. Take care to investigate the planner's qualifications and references. A planner should have firsthand knowledge of such matters as investments, tax strategies, etc. For further information at no charge, write: The International Association for Financial Planning, P.O. Box 468629, Atlanta, Ga. 30346 *** Approximately 300,000 students will be taking Scholastic Aptitude Tests in May. To help them do their best, the Stanley H. Kaplan Educational Center in New York suggests: Get a good night's sleep beforehand. Bring a watch to make sure you do not spend too much time on any one question. If you skip a question, remember to skip an answer space, too. Check regularly to be sure that you are marking the answer - grid numbers that correspond to the question - grid numbers. Take a different approach for math questions and verbal ones. In verbal questions, read all five answer choices to compare

their suitability. But for math questions, make your own calculations before looking at the choices. That way, the correct choice will be clear. *** Many parents are concerned over conflicting reports about possible side effects of the children's vaccine for diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus. But the Children's Hospital in Boston says that severe side effects are quite rare.

Permanent brain damage, for example, occurs in 3 cases per million.

The side effects are attributed to the component of the vaccine that prevents pertussis -- or whooping cough -- which can cause pneumonia, brain damage and death, especially in infants. The American Academy of Pediatrics says that the vaccine's benefits outweigh the risks and warns that any reduction in immunizations could result in epidemics of pertussis. *** The high pollen count associated with spring has allergy sufferers blowing their noses and rubbing their eyes. Over - the - counter drugs can relieve the symptoms, but some, especially those containing antihistamines, also can cause drowsiness. One hope for the future may be a drug, seldane, which is said to ease allergy symptoms without inducing sleepiness. It is used in Europe but still is awaiting approval by the Food and Drug Administration for sale here. Meanwhile, some doctors recommend going to the beach if possible, where the breeze and water keep down the pollen count. *** Although most older citizens prefer to live on their own, there comes a time when many can no longer continue to do so. It's an issue that whole families often must confront.

Many factors cause the elderly to change their living arrangements.. The house where the children were raised may be too large and expensive to maintain. Common household tasks, such as shopping and cleaning, may become too much trouble.

Deteriorating health may require constant nursing care.

The solution to the problem may be as simple as having someone come in from time to time to clean or cook. Or it may be that it's time for the elderly to move into a housing facility where cleaning and cooking are provided.

The range of options is wide.

The best time to think about this issue is before a crisis, when all are able to think calmly and to do proper research. Check references carefully, visit facilities and talk with residents.

Find out what services are actually provided -- not just promised.

Obviously, the more care required, the greater the expense. The differences can be substantial. Having someone in once a week for housecleaning may cost only a few dollars. The entrance fee for a "continuing - care community" -where residents are supposedly assured independent living arrangements, food service and 24 - hour nursing care -can be as high as $100,000. Additional monthly fees can go as high as $1,200, and are subject to escalation.

Before making a change in living arrangements, it may be wise to discuss options among family and close friends. Together, try to determine the needs for the present and the future.

Consider not only health and finances, but also the comfort of the elderly and how much they value their independence and privacy. ***

66 April Meeting Lodge

The basket of beautiful daisies [her favorite flower] were presented to her by her co-workers in the Insurance Department, Doris Tyroch, Ruth Hanusch and Kathy Fritz.

Norma Andel Honored Norma (nee Matous) Andel, assistant to the Vice President was honored at the April Supreme Lodge meeting for twenty (20) years of dedicated service to the SPJST. Norma completed twenty (20) years service February 19, 1985.

The Supreme Lodge acknowledged Norma's outstanding service to the SPJST with most of her tenure being in the Insurance Department. Norma began her employment in the Home Office under former Supreme Lodge Vice President Joe B. Hejny.

Norma accepted a monetary award presented by Vice President Bernie Gebala and a plaque presented by Chairman of the Board Sid Pokladnik.

She responded by thanking the Board and then gave a review of the changes

An Informative Genealogy Workshop Held The Czech Heritage Society of Texas presented a delightful and dramatic presentation of Czech Genealogy to about 110 interested Slavic persons of the Moravian, Slovak, Czech descent and other interested persons.

Mr. Leo Baca of Dallas had the immigrant passenger ship lists. Mr. Robert Janak of Beaumont had the tombstone inscriptions and the cemetery records. Mr. and Mrs. James E. Valigura of Conroe had the heirloom photographs, crests, shields, coats of arms, etc. Mr. Albert Blaha of Houston had the Czech Genealogist's Handbook and what is missed. Mr. Blaha was the general leader of the group. Each member unloaded_a large amount of book - gathered information.

The large SPJST Lodge 172 building in Pasadena accommodated the Genealogy Workshop. Mr. Albert

as she has seen them the past twenty years in the SPJST. Norma has been active in local lodge activities having served as financial secretary and youth leader. She is an SPJST Sales Representative (A Top Thirty Producer for 1984) and is involved in several community, civic and volunteer organizations.

Norma has two children, Kelli Andel Jahns and Keith Michael Andel and one granddaughter, Sara Elizabeth Jahns. Norma and her family are all SPJST members.

The Supreme Lodge and the entire Home Office staff join in congratulating Norma for her years of dedication to the SPJST. We wish her the very best and hope that she will be with us for many more years.

Fraternally, Bernard M. Gebala Vice President --SPJSTRisinger, president of Lodge 172, greeted the large turnout and praised the efforts of, the San Jacinto Czech Club.

Czech Club President Raymond Skrabanek , 1st Vice President Victor Peter, 2nd Vice yresident Anne Michalsky of Crosa, Secretary and Instructor Bernard Orsak of Pasadena and Treasurer Steve Kotal of Houston, all played a large part in sponsoring this workshop. There were about twenty - five news outlets. THANKS, LODGE 172!

In the-final stages of the workshop, Mr. Blaha recommended that a Chapter of the local Czech Heritage Society be established. Thirty - five people signed the charter. The officers were elected by this group, namely; President Victor Peter of Pasadena, Vice President Raymond Skrabanek of Jacinto City and Secretary/Treasurer Lillian Young of Houston.

Benefit Dance Set

By Victoria County SPJST Lodges Victoria Lodge No. 32, Placedo Lodge No 97, and Inez Lodge No 143 will hold a battle dance with the Vanek Brothers Band and Bill and The Outlaws providing entertainment for the Child Abuse Prevention Alliance.

The benefit occasion will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, May 26 at the Country Inn on the Bloomington

Our April meeting was called to order at 2:30 p.m. April. 14 by President Ray Orsag. Flags were presented by Larry Yates and Bill Warren with the pledge being led by Chris Owen.

All officers were present at the meeting. Sister Pruitt then read the minutes of our last meeting, they were approved as read.

Pruitt then read Sister correspondence from President Ondrusek concerning the District III spring meeting at Elk 21st of April. It was to invite everyone, not only for the meeting but also for the Family Day planned at the Johnson Appaloosa Ranch. She also read a letter from President Howard Leshikar praising us for having made a donation for charitable purposes. There also was an invitation to everyone concerning the Ennis Polka Festival.

Brother Shilling then gave the report of the Board meeting.

Sister Gladys Yates then gave the Youth Club report. She was representing our youth leader because she was busy getting ready for the Easter Bunny to come. The youth will be giving all the mothers flowers at the next meeting in honor of their day "Mother's Day." They also will attend a movie April 23 in Waco. The youth will no longer have the kitchen the third Sunday of the month as in the past for bingo. Instead they will have a cake walk to help raise money for the outings they have. All the youth who will be participating in YAD are asked to bring their cards to the next meeting.

It was then noted that anyone interested in taking over the kitchen the third Sunday should contact the proper people.

Our Trust Fund chairman, Sister Libbie Parma, then came forward to receive -a $50 check from the lodge. She also received $7 from Arthur and Mary Alice Langlotz and $18 from the selling of cans.

Sister Dorothy Shilling reported that everyone is to bring a covered dish to the next meeting which will be in honor of all the mothers. The lodge would furnish cake. She also stated that on Youth Activity Day they would serve fried chicken, green beans, potatoes and cake. Plates would cost $3 for one piece of chicken and $4 for 2 pieces of chicken. They also will serve coffee and doughnuts in the morning for the early arrivals.

She also reported that the lodge will have an Appreciation Dance June 22 with music to be furnished by the Moonlighters.

The Fraternal Committee read a thank you from Julie Harper for the money given to her mother, Hulda Mormino. It was also reported that Mrs. Mormino passed away April 12th.

Brother Frank Miller then gave the first quarter report on the lodge.

Everything was in order.

Sister Leona Nors reported having sent get - well cards to the following: Alton Tadlock, Caroline. Jones, Elizabeth Bounds and the infant of

Mr. and Mrs. Larry Pankonien.

Sympathy cards were sent to Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Simcik, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Marek and Mr. and Mrs. Michael Pavlas.

There were three new members accepted into the lodge, they were Christie Oswald, Michael Kocian and William Palasota.

A Resolution of Sympathy was read for our deceased member Robert Ireland who passed away February 16th.

Under unfinished business, Brother Frank Parma came forward and showed everyone the framed copy of the will and picture of our benefactor Mrs. Wolf. The picture will be hung in the hall.

Sister Langlotz stepped forward to explain some new rulings on bingo playing that will go into effect in September. She said at that time there will be no hard cards allowed only paper cards. Also a check written for each winner in bingo no matter what the amount of winnings will be. The lodge will continue with things the way they are for the time being.

Brother Otto Hanus reported that the SPJST Museum will be open Saturdays during the summer months.

This will be a trail period to see how many visitors come through. If attendance is good, then it will remain open all summer.

Brother Orsag asked everyone to show their appreciation to Brothers Langlotz, Niswanger, Orsag and Sister Pruitt for all the hard work they did on fixing the bridge, cleaning the floor and the carpeting. Brother Orsag thanked the youth club for the donations that they made to the mother lodge. He also thanked Brother and Sister Pauling for donating two ceiling fans.

The door prize winner was Janice Stanislay . There was a total of 69 members present.

Members with birthdays in April were Bill Cox, James Yates, Arthur Langlotz and Karen Shelton. The birthday cake was brought by Larry Yates.

The Easter Bunny arrived to visit the children and present them with balloons and a sack of candy.

Our meeting adjourned at 3:35 p.m.

Don't forget to attend the meeting next month. We will be honoring the mothers on their special day.

Lodge 80, Holland Donates $150 I think that spring is the most beautiful part of the year. Don't the rest of you think so? After the dormant part of winter, the grass, trees and flowers burst to their full glory.

Talk about flowers, we have four groups of Florabunda roses around the house; they are in full bloom at this writing. They bloom in clusters as much as 20 blooms in one cluster and they are beautiful. I took a picture of them the other day.

Well, I better mention our meeting we held Sunday, April 7 at 2 p.m. which was called to order by President Bohac. We all recited the Pledge of Allegiance to our flag and were asked to remain standing for a moment in respect for our deceased members.

The roll call showed all officers present. Secretary Latham was asked to read the minutes of our March meeting which were approved as read.

There was no correspondence.

We accepted one new member to our lodge; he is Andrew Robert Mills, grandson of the late Clifton Martinets and Mrs. Martinets. Welcome to our midst.

President Bohac thanked all the members who attended the District II meeting at Seaton, March 27th. He also thanked the faithful members who always render their services at our bingo games.

We, the members of Lodge 80, want to take this opportunity to congratulate our likable financial secretary, Sister Glenda Liles, for being one of the 28 top representatives who were honored at the De Gray State Park Lodge in Hot Springs, Arkansas, March 29 - 31, 1985. Our sincere congratulations, Glenda!

The Auditing Committee, composed of John Barabas, JoAnn Benner and Otto Horelica audited the books for January, February and March and found them in good order.

It was decided , at this meeting to donate $150 to the Crime Stoppers at Temple.

On the sick list and in the hospital was Isabella Kunz. We wish her a speedy recovery.

The meeting adjourned at 3 p.m. to enjoy the happy hour that followed.

Dear Members: After a covered dish noon meal honoring our 50 - year members, our April 14th meeting was called to order

by President Charlie Matcek at 2 p.m.

Everyone present stood and recited the Pledge of Allegiance. All of us also stood for a moment of silence for Brother Charlie Franek.

Roll call by Secretary Mary Werner showed our Financial Secretary Jo Ann Morgan was absent. All reports were approved as read.

On the sick list this month is Charlie Horelica.

President Charlie Matcek read a letter from SL President Howard Leshikar.

Mary Werner then read a letter of thanks for the donation from the March of Dimes.

President Matcek presented the 50 year membership pins, while Benita Walzel pinned the honored members with corsages and boutonnieres. The recipients were Angeline Bezecny, Emil Bezecny, Clara Mazac, Francis Rehak, Willie Rehak, Carolina _ary Wornet and Rudolph Skotnik, M Kostelnik; not present included Albina Gajesky, Charlie Koupa, Jim Orsak, Russel Straznicky, Jerry Lee Suchma and John Valka.

I was at a family reunion and could not be present so I want to take this opportunity to congratulate all of you.

Angeline Bezecny thanked the lodge for inviting the 50 - year members' families for the meal.

Carolina Skotnik thanked the ladies in the kitchen for the wonderful meal.

For the next six months our meetings will be held at 7 p.m.

Tuesday of each month.

Lodge 88, Houston News The Sing - A - Long in the private club Friday, April 26th was a big success. Henry Tannenberger, with his accordion, accompanied by Gene Lichnovsky on the piano, entertained the crowd. Noble Keating had his "gut - bucket" there also and several men got in on the act with that. Everyone has a good time at these sing - alongs.

Sister Rose Kostom furnished the chips and dips for the evening and the Blue Room Committee certainly appreciated her doing that. Sisters Millie Manack and Linda Wehring played "waitress" for the evening. To top the evening off, the company who had rented the lodge for a crawfish boil graciously brought buckets of those things to the singers. Much fun was had as everyone dug in for a taste.

Everyone (well almost everyone) enjoyed them.

Rose and Tim Kostom hosted a cocktail party for Emily Zemko and her friend, Paul Karas, from Chicago, Tuesday, April 23rd at their home.

Emily and her late husband, John, were very active in the Dramatic Club and the Choral Group several years back. Upon John's death, Emily moved to Chicago to be near her children. All her friends here at Lodge 88 were happy that she came to visit.

Mr. Karas was very impressed with the Czech activities at our lodge, especially the Choral Group.

Mike Trefell is at home recuperating and Kathy is giving him plenty of "Tender Loving Care." Adele Kite is also at home. She had surgery to clear the artery on one side of her neck. In several weeks she will re - enter the hospital for surgery on the other side.

David Miculka is in Spring Branch Hospital for treatment for an infected knee joint, but is responding to the antibiotics. We hope to have him home by the time you read this letter.

Don't forget the lodge monthly meeting May 13th. Plan to attend.

117, Robstown Makes Several Contributions

Robstown Lodge 117 held its quarterly meeting March 31, 1985 in the home of Sister Gustina Sijansky at 3 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Jennifer Marek. All officers were present except Vice President Joe Landin. Minutes were approved after making a minor correction.

Motion made by Sister Sylvia Bertram that the lodge buy an ad in the Sokol Southern Unit brochure and not in the National Sokol brochure. The motion was seconded by Sister Marek.

Motion carried.

Auditing Committee, consisting of Brothers Bill Marek, Leon Bertram and Sister Sijansky, did not complete the audit, but will meet May 1st to audit the books.

A motion was made by Sister McDonald that Lodge 117 donate money to several charitable organizations and not only in one The motion was as follows: $100 -- Youth City in Driscoll $100 -- American Cancer Society $100 -- John John Boulware (who needs a liver transplant) The motion was seconded by Brother Leon Bertram. Motion carried.

Also an annual payment of $72 for insurance for Sister Bottelo was made.

Sister Helen Pavelka stated that the next District VII meeting will be held September 22nd which will be hosted

by Lodge. No. 79, Corpus Christi.

After adjournment of the, meeting, a social was enjoyed by all.

Lodge 154, Ft. Worth Meeting Dear Members and Friends: We finally got some of the much needed rain.

This is a reminder of our Mother's Day dinner for Sunday, May 12 at 1 p.m. preceding the meeting. Sisters are to bring vegetables, salads or dessert.

The lodge will furnish the meat.

We want to wish a speedy recovery to Brother Jerry Merlick who is, in All Saints Hospital and to Sister Nancy Krupka in the Harris HEB Hospital in Bedford.

Sister Eva Dockery is entering the hospital Tuesday for hand surgery and we hope all is OK and get well soon.

We were happy to hear Sister Este Belle Hubenak of Lodge 92 is doing so well after the knee surgery.

We extend our congratulations to Janet and Frank Prochaska, Jr. on the arrival of their son, Conner Hahn. The proud grandparents are Sister Josephine and Brother Frank Prochaska, Sr. We extend a special thank you to Lodge 35, Elk for their hospitality and delicious dinner at the District III meeting. A big thank you to Brother and Sister Richard Burney for the after meeting gathering at the Appaloosa Ranch for the horseback riding, hayride and wiener roast. We had a million laughs and it was enjoyed by all. As Sister Pat Sill of Lodge 183 said: "I hope someone gets pictures of this or no one will believe it!" It was great.

Brother Joe and Sister Agnes Merlick are enjoying a visit with their daughter, Betty Mueller of Miami, Florida. Also Agnes' sister, Frances Bailey from Reading, Pa., visiting all her family here.

Seaton Choral Group Meets Last Tuesday when we held our practice, Helen Janacek substituted for Annie Jakubec in directing us.

Annie was still unable to attend but is getting better and we look forward to having her back with us. Our thanks to Helen.

Our visitors Ike and Florence Steffek joined us. Ike brought his accordion and played with Henry to accompany us, and Florence sang.

During our meeting, Emily Stuteville read the minutes and financial statement. We read a letter from the Czech Cultural Society of Dallas inviting us to join the festivities for Czech Day in October. Also included was an invitation to sing and participate in the 1986 Sesquicentennial celebration. There was discussion on both these activities but no action was taken.

In attendance this time were Emily Stuteville, Anne Krcha, Della Psencik, Martha Klusacek, Albina Mikeska, Mary Holick, Agnes Schiller, Dorothy Pechal and Georgia Sodek. Also present were Helen Janacek, Henry Janacek, Otto Hanus, Dorothy Morris and our visitors Ike and Florence Steffek.

Let's all go to Elgin on this day and enjoy the talent, crafts and royalty and support the youth of your area.

July 14 -- Camp application forms due to DYC on this day.

August 2, 3, 4 & 5 -- Teenage Camp at Camp Val Verde beginning at 10 a.m. with lots of excitement, fun, and sports with your friends. Plan to be there!

August 5, 6, 7 & 8 -- Junior Camp beginning at 10:30 a.m. This will be a great experience with lots of fun, lots of activities. See you there!

August 11 -- District II Fall Meeting at Lodge 29, Taylor with lots of activities planned.

August 18 -- STATE YAD in Temple at the Convention Center. An improved sound system is planned.

September 29 -- Districtwide Six Flags trip is planned and you must participate in summer activities to be eligible.

Remember that there will be more detailed information on each activity published in the Vestnik before each activity.

A visit is also planned to your youth club. Bring your questions to this meeting; all activities will be discussed in detail.

June 11 -- Scrapbook Committee meets at Northwest Library.

June 21 & 22 -- Astroworid trip, also bring sack lunch.

June 29 -- Beach trip. We'll leave Scout Hut at 3 p.m.

July 13 -- Regular monthly meeting; bowling trip afterwards.

July 27 -- Should be exciting, for on that day a trip is planned to Lake Mathis; this is a family outing. We didn't get to go to the lake last summer because of the drought and the lake was very low; it is full now (first time in three years). Swimming and games will be the activities.

Throughout the youth club year, which begins Junelst of every year, we did many charitable projects, namely: Scrap material to North Manor Nursing Home 75 Christmas homemade ornaments to Westwood Manor Nursing Home Food baskets to Dept. of Human Resources (DHR) S.P.J.S.T. Rest Home Christmas gifts School supplies, magazines, clothing, etc. for abused children $25 donation of the Statue of Liberty Restoration The club has four new youth clubbers and we are hoping that many more join us.

Several youth members enjoyed refreshments after their Lodge 20 Youth Club meeting.

He also spoke on the use of alcohol.

He encouraged all, especially the youth, to avoid drugs and alcohol.

This was very good advice and the youth asked many questions. Thank you, David!

The youth members should be planning YAD, crafts, and talent to be ready and be able to start working on these items as soon as their school activities give them the time to start.

I am looking forward to enjoying all of these summer activities with each of you.

From The Youth Leaders Lodge 117 Youth Club Holds Many Projects Robstown Youth Club had a busy year and plans for more projects and activities. The year 1985 began with a bowling trip and Livestock Show in Robstown. January 19th, following the regular meeting, the youth took cakes to the Westwood Manor Nursing Home, then went to the Corpus Christi Museum. February 13th several decorated Valentine cakes were taken to the nursing home. Movie trips are always enjoyed and we go often,

mostly to Cine 6. "Ice Around the World" held February 6th was very inspiring at the Memorial Coliseum.

March 2nd, the club had a booth at the Czech Festival where crafts and food were sold. Plans are already made for April 12, 1986 Czech Festival.

April 4th, the youth club filled 60 Easter baskets and they were delivered to Westwood Manor Nursing Home, plus cakes were also taken. The guests at the nursing home are always glad to receive the baskets.

May 1 lth, we will have a bake sale in Robstown at Winn's on Avenue J., next to Eckerd's Drugs. At this time donation of cakes will be made to Retama Manor Nursing Center in Robstown.

Monthly meeting will be held May 18th, followed by a movie trip. The next day the club will honor the 1985 graduate, Joe Landin. Youth clubbers and their parents are invited at their own expense.

Lodge 13, Dime Box Youth Club Holds Meeting The Dime Box Youth Club held its last meeting Saturday, April 20th. The meeting was called to order by President Penny Spitzenberger. Susan Spacek led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.

There were 20 members and 4 visitors present.

The secretary read the minutes and they were approved as read. The treasurer gave her report and it was also approved as read.

For new business we will be electing next year's officers.

We then went to the Ice Capades and it was enjoyed by all.

Dear Members, Our youth club and several adults attended the Distict I spring meeting Sunday, April 28, 1985 in New Tabor.

We presented a skit entitled, "Every Season Has A Reason." After the skit we went on a scavenger hunt. My team won.

Diane Luza was elected District I flagbearer.

After the meeting everyone enjoyed refreshments. We also enjoyed visiting the New Tabor Hall.

ROSALIE MARESH NEWMAN, died March 22, 1985 at the age of 90 years.

Her husband was the late R.A. (Bob) Newman of Houston, Texas.

Her son, Richard A. Newman, and daughter, Mary Ann Smith survive her, along with grandsons, nephews, nieces and cousins.

There is an interesting history behind Rosalie's life. Her grandparents, Joseph and Rosalie Jerabeck had a daughter at the time of their immigration to the United States; Mary, 3 years old, was born in 1870.

Joseph and Rosalie in spite of finding new freedom in Arnerica,were later to die accidental deaths in their search as Czech pioneers. Joseph Jerabeck died in a runaway mule accident in 1890.

Rosalie (his wife), while cleaning the house, burned to death in 1887. Mary, who came to this land was a baby and grew to young womanhood, marrying Frank B. Maresh who had been in this country but a year. Frank Maresh worked along with his father - in - law until their children were born.

Their children were Frank B. Maresh born in 1880, Henry Maresh (1890), Rudolph (1892) and Rosalie (1894). This was near Tumis, Texas (Caldwell).

Rosalie Newman was the last of that generation of Maresh pioneers. She was a loving sister of her three brothers, Frank B. and Doctors Henry and Rudolph.

Her brother Dr. Henry Maresh co authored the book "Czech Pioneers of the Southwest" with Estelle Hudson in 1934.

One of Rosalie Newman's nieces said to her that she knew why she was named "Rosalie," and Aunt Rosalie asked why, the niece replied, "Because you are sweet as a Rose."

Funeral services for Rosalie Newman were held in Houston at Memorial Oak Cemetery with Rev. W.E. Dugger, Jr., of the First Methodist Church of Brenham, officiating.

Expression Of Sympathy We, the Resolution Committee of Lodge No 79, Corpus Christi, in behalf of our membership, wish to express our sincere sympathy to the surviving family of our departed brother ADOLF J. SASSIN , age 99 years, 4 months and 8 days, who passed away Sunday in a local hospital.

He was born in Chlebovice, Moravia, Czechoslovakia, December 13, 1885. He came to the USA in 1906 at the age of 21. In 1907, he was married to Mary Vesely. His wife preceded him in death September 19, 1939. He farmed for many years in Moravia (Lavaca County) Texas and in 1966, he moved to Corpus Christi.

Brother Sassin joined SPJST Lodge No. 21, Engle (Fayette County) in 1912. On December 13, 1981 he became the 58th person in the history of the SPJST to outlive the actuarial table for his life insurance policy. He received a check for the face amount of his policy and a special certificate granting to him lifetime membership with all benefits and privileges of an active member.

Survivors include one son, Adolph John Sassin of Corpus Christi; two

daughters, Mary Hermis of Corpus Christi and Maggie Kristek of Yoakum; ten grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and five great - great grandchildren.

A rosary was recited at 7 p.m.

Tuesday at the Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.

Entombment followed in the Seaside Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were his grandsons and great - grandsons: Wilbur Hermis, Jerome Kristek, Jr., Adolph James Sassin, Ronnie Majek, David Wyatt and Travis Boehm.

Seaside Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

May he rest in eternal peace.

Survivors include his wife, Vlasta Pavelka; four sons, Charles Pavelka of Mart, Edwin J. Pavelka of Waco, Eldon Pavelka of West, Robert Pavelka of Rt. 1, Abbott; one dauhter, Willie Mae Veselka of West; two sisters, Minnie Kubitza of Mart, Mary Kubitza of Bellmead; 18 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Paul Pavelka, Gene Edward Pavelka, Randy Pavelka, Eldon Pavelka, Jr., Joseph Veselka and Shannon Pavelka.

Brother Pavelka was born May 4, 1898. He married Vlasta Adamek December 2, 1919. They had been married 65 years in December.

Brother Pavelka was very active in SPJST when he was a young man and always encouraged his children to be.

He farmed around Mart and West until he retired.

Brother Plsek was born in Marak, Texas, the son of Joe F and Mary Kostrum Plsek, early settlers of the area He married the former Annie Urubek and they farmed in the Little Flock community before moving to Temple in 1961. He retired as a printer in 1972.

He was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and SPJST Lodge No. 87, Temple, where he served as treasurer for many years. He was also a member of the Bell County Sportmen's Club.

Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m.

The Youth Leader's Retreat was held at Camp Lone Star in La Grange with 55 people attending. All seven districts were represented with attendance by DYCs, youth leaders and their assistants.

Dr. hunting led the group through some basic initiative exercises which are part of a Ropes and Challenge Course. These exercises proved to be a challenge to the groups' coordination, creative thinking and team work. Dr. Bunting presented numerous games and activities which can be used at the youth camps this summer.

The participants enjoyed the workshops presented by Dr. Camille Bunting and Don Buzzingham of Texas A&M University and by Lester Carter of Double Creek Farms.

and led the group in some active camp songs. Mr. Lester was most helpful in answering the group's questions.

Don Buzzingham directed the group in learning some folk dances. His teaching tips were valuable to our new leaders. We all enjoyed dancing and especially the dance instruction booklet which ton provided for everyone.

Everyone participated in the group work sessions led by SYD Sue Meadows. Work sessions concentrated on planning youth meetings with zip, increasing youth participation and membership.

All youth leaders had the opportunity to learn several crafts; leather bracelets, macrame animals and jute straw weaving.

DYC Janet Marek led the group in some active games which she had learned at LRL in Brownwood. The

other DYCs, Frank Klinkovsky, Maxine Pavliska, Bessie Petr, Susan Skrabanek, Mary Haisler and Dorothy Pflughaupt were in charge of the Saturday evening group work. Each group learned and prepared a segment, to share with the total group.

Enthusiasm and creativity were prevalent in all the groups' presentations. Ideas were shared for get-acquainted games, songs, ceremonies, active and quiet games.

It proved to be a most rewarding and full weekend for all those in attendance. ***

All attending enjoyed the folk dance and song workshops.

We will miss Joe greatly; he was a pleasant person and we enjoyed his humorous remarks at our lodge meetings. He was a good and efficient lodge officer.

Of Interest Lost Child Program Parent - Child Tip Sheet Children are trusting souls. They have learned to look to adults for help, for comfort, for advice, for love. So it's only natural that these children would follow even a stranger's suggestion, especially if it sounds genuine.

Children can learn to recognize the difference between concern and contempt, compassion and deception.

TIPS FOR PARENTS Talk with your children.

Explain to your children that dangers do exist and why you are always concerned for their safety.

Teach your children never to get into a car or go into a house without your permission.

Don't leave your child alone in a public place or unattended in a car, even for a moment.

Never visually display your child's name on clothing or other articles.

Make certain your children know their home address, telephone number and area code.

Listen when your children tell you they do not want to be with someone; there may be a reason.

NATIONAL CENTER FOR MISSING & EXPLOITED CHILDREN FACT SHEET The center was established in 1984 to control the nationwide epidemic of missing and exploited children and to provide direct assistance in the handling of cases of child molestation, child pornography, etc.

Initial funding for the Center came from the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention of the U.S. Department of Justice.

The Congress of the United States in 1984 mandated bylaw that such a National. Center exist.

The Center takes an eight - point approach to its mission: 1) Provide training assistance to law enforcement and child protection agencies.

2)Assist individuals, groups, agencies, state and local governments in the investigation on cases of criminally or sexually exploited children.

3) Provide prevention and education programs for parents, schools, action groups, agencies, communities, volunteer organizations, law enforcement and local, state and federal institutions.

4) Distribute instruction packages to aid communities in protecting children.

Organize networks of 5) information among school systems, school boards, parent - teacher organizations and community organizations.

6) Conduct an outreach program of public speaking and communication to alert families, communities, the criminal justice system and concerned organizations to the nature and extent of child victimization and exploitation.

7) Ensure coordination among parents, missing children groups and all the media to distribute photos and descriptions of missing children.

Coordinate exchange of 8) information regarding child exploitation.

OTHER RESOURCES The Lost Child Network, located in Kansas City, Kansas, is aligned with the National Center and organized one of the first flyer inserts in conjunction with photo processors. It currently covers approximately 13 Midwestern states.

The National Child Safety Council, Michigan Center, Michigan, offers information and assistance in assuring child safety in such areas as poison control and toy manufacturing, as well as working to reduce the incidents. The group has coordinated efforts with the National Center -- recently in the publication of an Abducted Children's Directory.

K MART LOST CHILD PROGRAM Information Sheet More then 200,000 children under the age of 18 are reported officially missing each year in the United States, victims of abduction by an estranged parent or stranger, or runaways. Many of these children will be criminally exploited. Many of them will be murdered.

The Lost Child Program, a community service program embraced

by K mart begins May 1st to provide flyers made available in displays at K mart Stores and inserted in all photographic processing orders placed through K mart's more than 2,000 stores nationwide.

Flyers containing the photographs and descriptions of four missing

children, along with safety tips for parents and children, will be inserted in photographic processing orders made through K mart's photo processors -- Guardian Photo, American Photo, Colorcraft, Bicknell and Phototron.

Guardian Photo is supplying graphic services for the production of the flyer inserts. K mart will provide start - up funds and will print and distribute the first seven million flyer inserts. Flyer photographs will be changed every 30 days.

Guardian Photo will coordinate the selection of photographs with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, a Washington, D.C. - based organization funded through the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.

The National Center will utilize its toll - free telephone number (1 - 800 843 - 5678) to handle inquiries from K mart customers who believe they may have seen a missing child.

On April 3, President Ronald Reagan, in a meeting at the White House with representatives from the private sector, called for a partnership of the private sector with government to address the needs of missing children. K mart was pleased to be an early respondent.

Safety

College Station -- When it comes to a brilliant display of lightning in Texas skies, "better safe than sorry," is a good motto.

Deaths from lightning may be rare, but it's shortsighted for anyone to ignore the simple precautions and slight inconvenience of safety measures, says TAMU Agricultural Extension Service health education specialist Dr. Mary Ann Heussner.

She says the first rule of lightning safety is to get away quickly from any open space -- a field, golf course, hill top, beach or pool. Get away before the rain starts, since lethal bolts sometimes strike during the muggy lull before a storm.

If you are caught outside, the best kinds of shelter are buildings equipped with a lightning protection system, steel - framed buildings, and cars, buses or tractors with metal tops and closed windows, adNises the specialist.

But don't trust a flimsy shelter on a golf course.

When you can't take cover, you can better your chances by taking refuge in a ravine, culvert or ditch -- keeping away from pipes and staying alert for flash floods, Heussner says.

When none of this is practical, crouch as low as possible with no part of your body except knees and toes touching the ground. Also remember to avoid tall isolated objects, like a lone tree, staying twice as far away as the tree is high.

Just being indoors doesn't entirely protect you from lightning, Heussner points out.

Stay away from open doors and windows, fireplaces, radiators, stoves, metal pipes, sinks, bathtubs, shower stalls and plugged - in electrical appliances. Electricity of lethal strength can enter a home not only by a direct strike, but also by a side flash from another object like a tree, and through pipe lines and wiring.

Unfortunately, when someone is struck by lightning, bystanders often don't know what to do, remarks the specialist. Others won't touch the victim for fear they are is still electrically charged.

But a lightning victim can be safely touched, and often revived by mouth to - mouth resuscitation, Heussner says.

Adults who work outdoors or enjoy outdoor sports may have a healthy respect for lightning, but children are often unaware of its danger. The specialist recommends that parents review lightning safety precautions with their youngsters along with safe bicycling and swimming rules for the summer.

A Study Of The Culture Of The Czech -Moravian Community Of Texas

By Kevin Hannan Dallas, Texas Dedicated To Jaroslav "Jerry" Pavlik Even though not all Czech Moravians in Texas defined the name Moravec in the same fashion, this term has been widely used throughout the Czech - Moravian community .(21).

The influential Czech - language weekly SVOBODA often applied the name Moravec and its plural form "Ivloravci" to the Czech - Moravians of Texas. Immigrants from the Frengtat area were probably responsible for introducing this name to Texas. The name conveyed well the concept of dual Slavic - Moravian identity which was wide - spread in the Frengtat area. In Texas the name Moravec eventually lost -much of its association with north - eastern Moravia and it came to be more often associated with a Texas culture. Texas Czech - Moravians remained conscious of the unique European origins of their culture, but with passing years the Moravec was increasingly conscious of the unique elements of his culture that he related directly to the Texas environment. Visitors from Czechoslovakia, as well as other Czech - Americans, are often struck by the unique blend of cultural influences from north - eastern Moravia and Texas which are found here. Many present - day visitors from Czechoslovakia find the concept of national identity held by modern Czech - Moravians in Texas quite incomprehensible, rooted as this idea is in an archaic 19th century concept of Slavic - Moravian identity and a more recently developed, quite strongly perceived regional identity. A Czech Australian journalist not long ago recorded his impressions: 21. Moravian was the lingua franca of many rural Texas communities and was spoken fluently by other ethnic and racial groups. Many instances have been recorded of black children growing up in Czech - Moravian communities and speaking Moravian.

Several anecdotes relate to the "erny Moravec" (Black Moravian). See Machann and Mend!, p. 174. Another anecdote appears in Hausenblas and Kuchai, pp. 448-449: "It happened that Mr. Piecechtel was travelling from Chicago to Austin on business. Mr. Piecechfel sold ladies cosmetics. He came upon a lonely, foresaken station somewhere out in the Texas desert, where there's nothing but sand, cacti and billboards. Mr. PrecechtZ1 was thoroughly bored and drenched in sweat. He walked around a bit trying to find a spot to escape the heat. All at once he thought he heard someone speaking Czech. Not just Czech, but

Wednesday, May 8, 1985—vEsmilu11 the speech of his native Kojetin. Mr. Plecechtel turned around, but the only persons around were two blacks, who were sitting on a rail. Apparently he had taken a sunstroke and was hearing things, he thought to himself. And yet here again he distinctly heard the robust sounds of his own Kojetin dialect. 'I've a sunstroke,' he exclaimed. He turned in the direction of the speech and stared at the two blacks. Not able to believe his ears, he approached the pair. Before it could occur to him how ludicrous it is to ask a black man in the middle of the Texas desert if he is Czech, he blurted out: "Excuse me, pleae, but are you Czech?" Imagine his amazement when he learned that he was not in fact suffering from the effects of the sun.

The black man matter - of - factly answered him, 'oh no, I'm a Moravian.' ('Ne, ja su Moravec')" Another instance of blacks spreading Moravian was reported in the weekly Na§inec in the June 15, 1984 issue (page 5, col. 4): "Once they were going to Frrdek (Texas) for some cheese to make kola& for a wedding. They went through a pasture and as they opened the gate, they heard someone singing `Louka zelene (a popular Czech waltz tune). But the only person around was a black man on a horse. As they came nearer, they saw that it was he who was singing. They learned that these Czech people had taken him as a boy, when his parents died, and raised him. And he could speak Czech well." *** We noted with emotion the Czech inscriptions in churches and cemeteries. We spoke Czech with people who are already fourth generation Moravians (Moravci) and who have even today preserved the dialect and peculiar accent of their ancestors' native region. Folks call themselves Moravci, yet they pronounce it with an English accent. It is not possible to define their national feeling with a simple formula. It is somehow three - sided. They are Moravians, Texans and Americans all at once. They will still call themselves Moravci, even when the only Czech they know is "DobrSr den ," , "kolace," "klobasy" and "pivo."(22) An interesting parallel exists between the perceptions of national indentity found among the Czech Moravians of Texas and another American -immigrant community which has preserved a concept of national identity which does not correspond to a modern state, the Carpatho - Rusyns of the Northeastern United States. A Carpatho - Rusyn identity is not recognized by the states of Eastern Europe with Carpatho Rusyn populations,(23) just as a separate Moravian or Silesian identity is not recognized in modern Czechoslovakia. Of course, the process of cultural assimilation for the "Czech" of north - eastern Moravia and south - eastern Silesia was begun earlier and went somewhat smoother than the Ukrainianization and Slovakization of the Carpatho Rusyns. A controversy related to the perception of national identity surrounds the terms which the.

Carpatho - Rusyns have applied to themselves,(24) and this, to some degree, parallels the controversy among Czech - Moravians concerning their national identity, national designation and language. The most explicit terms which might be applied to these groups, "Moravec" and "Rusyn," are archaic terms not used today in Europe. Both Lachian and Carpatho - Rusyn populations have referred to their speech as "po

nasemu" or po nasomu," which means "in our own way." Although the ancestors of both immigrant groups shared quite a few elements of the folk culture of the Carpathian region ,(25) the most interesting parallel between the Czech Moravians and Carpatho - Rusyns lies in unique perceptions of national identity which reflect national ideas that are no longer widely - held nor popularly understood.

Thus it does not survive intact today in Texas.

Although Czech - Moravians argued among themselves about their perceptions of national identity, they did not go to great lengths to explain these differences to Americans.

Researchers in Texas may encounter some reluctance on the part of older Czech - Moravians to explain these differences and this reflects something about the national consciousness of north - eastern Moravians, which in the 19th century had not crystallized in the minds of much of this population.

Czech - Moran immigrants probably considered the cultural distinctions of Eastern Europe too complicated for Americans to grasp.(26) Although many Czech Moravians objected to being called Czech or Bohemian in the Czech language, they often acquiesced when their American neighbors referred to them as Bohemian. By the 20th century the English name Bohemian was commonly applied to Czech Moravians in Texas.(27) It is only in recent decades that the English name "Czech," which had for many Czech Moravians and Americans a more positive connotation than the name Bohemian, has been widely applied to Czech - Moravians in Texas. Possibly because the name was in the past more often used as a religious than a national designation and was frequently associated with German Americans, use of the name Moravian was not wide - spread as an English language term for Texas Czech Moravians .(28) 26. Some of the Czech- Moravian's sensitivity to national and regional differences is indicated in the use of the term "Haliak" in Texas (Czech: Hanak). Hanak comes from the dialect of northeastern Moravia and literally refers to an inhabitant of the region of Hand in central Moravia. Possibly out

of some prejudice which arose through economic differences, the word Hanak carries an unpleasant, derisive meaning. As is commonly understood in Texas, a Hanak is someone who may be putting on airs or acting somehow improperly. This, of course, has no relation to the literal meaning of the word.

Some attribute the distinctive character of these largely to the influence of the Texas environment, however. Younger generations of Czech - Moravians generally possess little knowledge about the north - eastern Moravian character of their culture in Texas.

With the recent popular American interest in ethnic awareness, some descendants of Moravian immigrants in Texas have promoted cultural elements which originated in other cultural regions of Czechoslovakia and which often contract with the authentic elements from north eastern Moravia. Yet, other modern day Czech - Moravians in Texas, especially those who live in the rural areas which possess a large Czech Moravian population, have up until the present time retained an awareness of a distinct identity which originated thousands of miles away in north eastern Moravia.

Certainly the Moravec of 19th century Texas viewed his identity, no matter to what degree he stressed its unique character and distinguished it from the Bohemian, within a broader Slavic identity. The Moravians have remained conscious that their culture once nurtured the development of much of the culture which is found today among the Slavic nations.

Moravia's significant historical and cultural role has been somewhat obscured over the centuries, however, through her political eclipse. As a part of the Kingdom of Bohemia, Moravia, to a great degree, fell under Bohemia's cultural influence.

Moravia's interesting position within the spectrum of Slavic culture can be better understood by examining the similarly significant role played by neighboring Slovakia. Like Moravia, Slovakia was an important cultural center of the Great Moravian Empire.

Much of our knowledge of that era comes from archaeological discoveries in Slovakia.(29) Slovakia may, in some ways, be considered a cultural heartland of Slavic Europe. Slovakia remained a repository of Slavic ethnograph' after elements of folk culture vanished in

some of the other Slavic nations in the 19th century. Although all the modern Slavic languges have remained, even to this day, understandable in varying degrees for speakers of the other Slavic languages, it has often been suggested that the speech of Slovakia is that which is most easily understood today by the other Slavic nations as a whole.

The concept of national identity among the Slovaks nurtured the historical development of the Pan Slavic movement, which , developed in Slovakia in the 19th century side - by side with the concept of Slovak national identity.(30) Slovak Pan Slavism was remarkably ecumenical and non - chauvinistic in outlook.(31) Moravia's culture, as well as its importance as a historical and cultural point of focus within the family of Slavic nations, can be better understood by examining Moravia's relationship with its neighbor to the east, Slovakia. Moravia's cultural ties to Slovakia are not so obvious today as those it shares with Bohemia, yet the regional cultures of eastern Moravia and western Slovakia especially are remarkably similar.(32) From the time when Moravia was drawn within Bohemia's political orbit, much of the character of Moravia's culture has been obscured. As has been noted, many elements of the highlander folk culture found throughout the Carpathian region are evident in Lachia and Moravian Walachia. Many of these cultural elements are actually shared by several Slavic nations which are frequently distinguished from one another by various historical, cultural and linguistic criteria. Some elements of the Czech - Moravian culture of Texas which were introduced by immigrants from Lachia and Moravian Walachia can be traced to Slovakia or perhaps even further to the east in the Carpathians. Concerning the folk culture of north - eastern Moravia, this is in varying degrees interlocked with the culture of each of the neighboring Slavic nations and cultural regions. The culture of north eastern Moravia cannot be so simply termed Czech and the cultural ties with neighboring areas then be ignored. In approaching a study of Eastern Europe, it becomes evident that American researchers enjoy an advantage not available to many Europeans, who are often confined within limited national perspectives in studies of the Sla y s. American researchers actually have the opportunity to grasp certain subtle shadings of the rich spectrum of Slavic culture which are not evident to scholars confined within rigid frameworks of the national contexts of modern Eastern Europe. This is evident through studies of areas such as Macedonia, Carpathian Ruthenia and south - eastern Silesia and north eastern Moravia.

Pritorn ztratila tee 2ivot manklka tamejgfho lesniho spravce, spolu s dvema detmi, aekoliv nemela se zradou a fagisticicou leekou nic spoleene'ho. Privezenf spiklencif na Javorielco a jejich likvidace v teto osade je dodnes nepochopitelne a nevysvetleno. Tento negfastnjr krok hned u Bouzova neunikl pozornosti hradnf nacisticke horde, ktera zahy si vylila svou nepifeetnou zlost nad znegkodnenim proti partyzanske leeky krvavou lazni v Javorieku. Popravy protipartyzanslcjrch spiklencit se odehraly 10 dubna 1945 a 25 dnu pozdeji, 5 kvetna 1945, do glo ku krveliznive nacisticke pomste na bezbrannem Javoileku. V sobotu 5 kvetna po tied hodine rano vytahl z Bouzova dverna proudy 225 elennjr exekueni oddfl se samopaly, kulomety, pancerovjrmi pestrni a fosforovjmi zapalnjmi bombami, k rozmistneni v obklieeni Javorieka do 9 hodiny ranni.

Ac pied touto hodinou bylo z okolnich lesu slyget stielbu, tak vesnieane nevenovali tomu prfli g pozornosti, domnivajic se, le jde o v posledni dobe celkem beinou piestrelku s partyzany.

Nacistieti vrazi v gak ji2 strfleli nic netugici obeany, ubfrajfci se lesem za svou ka2dodenni pracf. Prf lesni ceste k Bouzovu tak zahynuly prvni obeti Javoffeske tragedie: Jan Slusar a Frant. Vleek, spolu s obeanern Veselfeka, Josefem Natrem. Jejich osamele pornnieky byly pozdeji postaveny v mistech, kde nemeetf hrdloiezi zahajili osudneho pateho kvetna 1945 sve vraledne dilo. Vidic zavereene obklieovani Javorieka osadnici si zprvu myslili, 2e se jedne o dalgf prohlidku obce; vybuch a polar jednoho z domku na konci vesnieky razem v gak odhalil straglivjr Teel "navgte'vy teto hitlerovske zbere".

Zminenjr vjrbuch a polar byl nacistum signalem k "Tatoku" na bezbrannou obec. Nejprve byl pochytan dobytek a vesmes postrilen, 2eny a deti oddeleny od rnu2u, domy jeden podruhem poboreny bud' granaty anebo pancerovjrmi pe'stmi a pak zapaleny.
