September 29th is the date set for the Grand Opening and Dedication of Lodge 183, Mid-Cities' new lodge home on 3100 Pleasant Valley Lane in Arlington. In this issue the lodge has announced its dedication program, and we wish many of you endeavor to attend and extend best wishes for a continued success.

When a serious traffic accident occurs, lives may depend on actions taken by the first persons to arrive at the scene.

Road crashes. Most important for the earliest arrivals is not to make matters worse, says the Sedgwick County Emergency Medical Service of Wichita, Kans. It offers these suggestions: Prevent a second accident. Don't run across road lanes to the crash site. Also, it's safest to approach from the rear. If you are in a vehicle, turn on its hazard lights. Pull completely off the roadway so you don't block traffic.

Restore breathing. Give first attention to any victim who isn't breathing. Try to restart respiration by clearing the victim's mouth, pinching the nose, then blowing into the mouth. For this, you should have first-aid training. To be prepared, take basic or refresher courses through your health department or the Red Cross. They usually are free.

Stop bleeding. Another priority is to stop severe bleeding. To do that, press against the wound — using the cleanest available handkerchief, piece of clothing or even a bare hand — and strive to maintain the pressure until professional assistance is available.

Get help. Ask others who arrive to call police and medical help and to warn approaching motorists. To reduce the hazard of fire, try to keep smokers away from the site and turn off ignitions of wrecked cars.

Don't move the injured.

Unnecessary moving — when the victims aren't in immediate danger — often complicates injuries. Make the injured as comfortable as possible until emergency personnel arrive.

Auto-insurance discounts offered to older drivers are being increased by many companies, says the Insurance Information Institute.

Discounts for those age 65 and over -- which now range up to 10 and 15 percent — are, being raised to 20 percent and more. If you qualify, and drive less than 7,500 miles a year, you could save up to 30 percent.

Motorists between 50 and 64 may be eligible for a 10 percent discount in most states by the end of the year.

New federal regulations covering airline-owned computerreservations systems should make it easier for travelers to get the best air-fare bargains. The rules change, just approved by the Civil Aeronautics Board, requires the reservations systems — used by travel agents to sell tickets — to have at least one display showing schedules and fares for, all airlipes

systems. This change will make it much easier for travel agents to find the flight that best suits a client's needs and budget requirements.

Current reservations systems often favor the flights and fares of the airlines owning the systems. The new rule permits systems to exclude those lines that refuse to pay for listings or to list them on a biased basis.

Owners of older automobiles that need leaded gasoline will find it even more difficult — and expensive — to find fuel after Jan. 1, 1986. That's when new Environmental Protection Agency rules take effect, cutting back the lead content of gasoline by 91 percent. Lead exposure can cause learning disabilities and reduced intelligence in children and, at high levels, central nervous disorders, mental retardation and even death. Almost all new cars have used unleaded gas for years. EPA hopes to ban all use of leaded fuel by the mid-1990s.

To have a healthy lawn, you should remove no more than one third of the leaf surface of the grass at a time, says the University of Florida's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences. Also, leave the clippings on the lawn. That will allow valuable nutrients -nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium — to return to the soil without contributing to the buildup of thatch.

People suffering from aches and pains, fever or menstrual cramps can now seek temporary relief with a low-dose analgesic recently approved by the Food and Drug Administration for nonprescription sale. Ibuprofen, being marketed over-the-counter under the brand names Advil and Nuprin, has been available in the U.S. by prescription since 1974 for inflamed joints, arthritis and menstrual pain.

June is a bittersweet month in Texas.

More marriages occurred in June last year than any other month, but more divorces also were granted during this month, reports the Bureau of Vital Statistics of the Texas Department of Health.

During June, 20,555 couples said "I do." Also popular were July with 18,801 marriages, September with 17,805, and December with 17,800.

During these four months, more than 38 percent of the 199,037 marriages took place last year.

The least popular month for marriage was January with 13,133 weddings. February with 13,595, November with 15,315, and March with 15,459 followed January in the lowest totals.

Marriages were more common among young brides under the age of 20 than any other age category.

There were 42,575 brides below the age of 20 and 917 under the age of 15 in Texas. Bridegrooms under the age of 20 numbered 18,855, while 38 were under the age of 15. Median age of bridegrooms was 26 and for brides 23.

District V Family Day - October 7 Dear Members, We district officers hope you are planning to attend our District Family Day Sunday, October 7th, at Lodge No. 88, 1435 Beall Street, Houston.

There will be a covered dish luncheon at 12:30. The district will furnish the meat, and each family is asked to bring a covered dish (vegetable, salad or casserole) or a cake. The district will also furnish beer, coffee and tea.

Lodge No. 88 Czech Concert Orchestra and the Choral Club will, once again, give us the pleasure of listening to their beautiful songs and music! A program of skits and other entertainment will start at 2:00 p.m.

June led the way with 8,900 marital breakups. The month with the least number of divorces granted was February, with 6,879.

The wife involved in divorces was most likely to be in her 20's (43,552) while the husband was most likely to be in the 25-34 age range (40,959).

Younger Texans weren't the only ones getting lidiVercVs. Couples married 35 years`' more went into

the divorce courts 1,017 times to have their marriages terminated. *** More than twice as many marriages as divorces were recorded in Texas last year, reports the Bureau of Vital Statistics of the Texas Department of Health.

For every 100 marriages solemnized, there were almost 49 divorces.

Texas recorded 199,037 marriages and 97,061 divorces. The divorces involved 87,482 children. ***

Dear Members: Our lodge met and held its annual Family Day Sunday, August 12, 1984, at the American Legion Hall in Hallettsville with a good attendance.

A delicious beef stew dinner with trimmings was served at noon. The meal blessing was given by Mrs. Annie Vahalik.

A short meeting was held in the afternoon. In absence of Lodge President Frank Zabransky, due to illness, Vice President Linda Mikush welcomed everyone and then turned the meeting over to Secretary Erwin Holy.

It was voted by the members to have the September meeting on the 3rd Sunday, instead of the usual 2nd Sunday due to a church social on our regular date.

Treasurer Helen Zabransky read a letter from District VI Director Matt Vanek expressing regrets he could not attend and extended his wishes for a successful day.

The members were honored to have present SL Vice President

Bernard Gebala of Temple and his father. Brother Gebala spoke to the members and introduced the 50-year members. Those present were: Ida Buschermihle, Joseph Jansky and Adolf Marek, not present were Hattie Ehler, Anthony Gold, Leonard Holy, Franklin John, Wylie Jansky, Louise Klekar, Bertha Wasserbauer, Richard John and Frank J. Zabransky.

Sister Helen Zabransky read a list of the over 50-year members. They include Frank Zapalac, Albina Dornak, Albina Spanihel, Robert Ziegler, Henry Spanihel, Marie Fabian, Rosalie Spanihel, Annie Neuman and George Bucek; a 56year-old member, Brother Julius Bucek was present.

Also recognized were Timmy Janak and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Blaise Janak of Hallettsville. Timmy is a recipient of an SPJST Scholarship and will be attending Sul Ross University in Alpine majoring in Computer Science.

Laurie Chudej received an additional scholarship from the SPJST. Congratulations to Timmy and Laurie.

Door prizes of SPJST articles brought by Vice President Gebala and containers of stew were won by Emil Grones, Chris Chudej, Mrs. Albert Kahanek, Mrs. Lee Fabrenkamp, Evelyn Holy, Timmy Janak and Alton Chudej.

The youth club money-making project winners were Michelle Webb, Marlyn Sevcik, Eugene Mikush, Mrs. Adolph Kovar and Victoria Zak. The afternoon was spent playing games including a Bacon Wheel and visiting. Refreshments were served.

Committees who helped make the day a success were: Kitchen-Linda Mikush, Stew-Erwin Holy, TicketsHelen Zabransky, Beer-Henry Muenster (donated all the beer), Sodawater-Patsy Zabransky, Bacon Wheel-Erwin Holy; also thanks to those who brought food for dinner, and everyone who helped in any way.

Our next meeting will be at 2 p.m.

Sunday, September 16 at the Grant Bldg. Refreshments and lunch will be served.

Lodge 66 To Celebrate 78 Years Sunday, September 16th, Lodge 66 Linden Hall, in Elm Mott, Texas will celebrate 78 years of existence as a lodge.

Lodge 66 was organized September 16, 1906. The lodge was formed with 12 members. The first president was I. J. Gallia and has had a number of men to serve since.

The lodge has approximately 1,925 members.

For this occasion we would like to invite all the Supreme Lodge officers.

There will be a dinner provided and served at 1 p.m. The lodge members are asked to bring pastries and there will be a regular lodge meeting at 2:30 p.m.

Lodge 84, Czechfest Dear Members: The Entertainment Committee hopes to see all of you at our lodge next Sunday, September 16th. If you are unable to make dinner then come to enjoy the good music provided by the `Blazek Band' from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. It's free dancing for four hours and our kitchen is open so you can enjoy sandwiches, nachos, etc., if you get hungry. Also from 4 to 5:30 p.m. enjoy keg beer for half price. Our booths will also be open all afternoon so come, bring your friends and relatives, too. You may want to buy tickets for the many items offered.

The celebration starts Saturday, September 15th with a dance with the Czech Harvesters playing your favorite tunes and to quench your thirst (so many hot days this past month), the bar will serve keg beer at half price all night.

Our kitchen will be open also and you can enjoy hamburgers, nachos, klobase sandwiches and coffee.

Many members have been preparing for this Czechfest and would welcome you from near and far; just remember the doors open at 11:30 a.m.; "Happy Hour" from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. (keg beer 1/2 price — cold drinks 25G); dinner from 12:30 to 2 p.m. and then an afternoon of fraternal friendship, daricing and eating.

I need to mention the Dallas-Ennis Fraternal Council meets September 13 at the Czech Club, hosted by WFLA. Our lodge meeting is Monday, September 17, at 7:30 p.m.

Hees-Othold Engagement Is Announced

The wedding cake was a threetiered confection above a fountain, surrounded by six satellite heartshaped cakes. On top of each tier was a fresh arrangement of smilax, lilies, alstromeria, statice, porn chrysanthemums and English ivy.

Companion arrangements adorned each heart-shaped cake.

The bride's table was covered with off-white lace over mauve linen.

Dear Members and Friends: Thank you all for helping Lodge 172 at Pasadena put on a Child Abuse and Neglect Benefit, August 5, 1984. It was decided about 9 or 10 months ago to put on this benefit to raise funds for the abused and neglected children of Harris County, but something always came up that caused us to put it off.

I am glad to report that it was a big success and I am glad to report —SPJST— that the money made for the Child Abuse program amounted to $5,618 (five thousand, six hundred and • eighteen dollars).

Business Meeting Of Longview-Kilgore Lodge The August 19, 1984 meeting of SPJST Lodge 178 was called to order by President John Campbell.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led

by John Campbell and James Harris led the lodge motto.

A moment of silence for our departed brothers and sisters was observed.

Roll call of officers showed the following as absent: Second Vice President Doug Kimmey, Youth Leader Rita Crossland, Sgt-at-Arms Charles DeWitt, Flag Bearer Kathy Brown and Parliamentarian Chuck Kinkel.

The minutes from our last meeting were read; after no corrections being made, the minutes stood approved as read.

Committee reports were also given. Gladys DeWitt told the members that she was placing an order for New Year's Eve Party favors because she could get them at half price if ordered now. Wind River will be playing for the New Year's Eve dance; only 650 tickets shall be sold and last day for ticket sales will be December 22nd.

James Harris was named to head an Inventory Committee. At all future dances everyone will pay at the door, unless you have a pass, the workers will be issued passes.

Marie Wiesner made a motion that family membership be raised to $5 per year starting January 1, 1985.

Gladys DeWitt seconded the motion.

Motion carried.

Actually, it was a close game because the score was 2 to '0 until 3 meaningless runs were scored in their last inning. Mike Moeller allowed 5 hits, 5 walks and 7 strikeouts; not a bad performance at all.

Hitters and base runners were scarce as Paul I3artos had 2 singles, Tommy Yates, a double and Don Lennox, a walk.

Although we were eliminated, we still qualified to play in the Regional Tournament which was scheduled during the weekend of August 25th and 26th in Irving, Texas.

Another league game was played Wednesday, August 1st against Bioya Team and we got our revenge by blasting them 9 to 1 in 4 innings; winning 2 walks and two strikeouts, another outstanding performance on the mound.

Hitters were Darrell Clements with a homerun and a walk, Kerry Goad with 2 singles, Ben Downey, Don Lennox, Danny Yates and Ron Bliss, each had a single and a walk, Paul Bartos had 2 singles and Mike Moeller, a single. Thus far we remained undefeated in our summer league play to date. (More results will be in my next report.)

We hope you do come out to the Samuel Grand Diamond and see the team play on Wednesday nights, we will be glad to see you at the games.

Marek-SupakHaisler Reunion

The Emil Fick and Emil Marek families were thanked for getting things ready for the reunion. Those in charge of the 1985 reunion are Hynek Marek and Adolph Marek families. The Fick family had all members present. Frank Lomica, Jr. was from the farthest distance Connecticut - and received a gift.

Annie Marek, age 83, received a gift for being the oldest member present. Jason Gilbert, age 2 mos., was the youngest present.

Discussion followed concerning the Haisler Reunion. A letter had been received from the Haisler Reunion officers saying they had had their own reunion on the second Sunday in July and would do so again in 1985. However, it was voted to continue to call this reunion the Marek-Supak-Haisler Reunion and that all Haislers are welcome to attend both reunions.

Carl Matejka made the motion to have the reunion the same time and place next year, 2nd Sunday in August. Motion was seconded and carried. Melvin Haisler made the motion to keep the same officers for next year; Carl seconded the motion and it carried.

A drawing was held using the names of all persons registered almost 20 gifts were given away.

Msgr. Louis Wozniak of Austin and Father Boli Zientek of Lodge No. 66, Elm Mott returned recently from a 23-day vacation travel and a Mission Visit with the following itinerary: They flew qrorti!AliStinAp Dallas, to Seaii4P-Arlagliingtolf,

where they enjoyed the Majestic Sights in Seattle for two days. From there they flew the 10 hr. flight to Tokyo, Japan on the "Thai Airline Royal Orchid Tour". After touring Tokyo, a city of 71/2 million people, they visited Hakone National Park, a spectacular Lake and Mountain Scenery. They traveled to Keyoto, then by the "Bullet-Train" to Nara and Osaka. After four days in Japan, they flew by way of Taipei, Taiwan, to Hong Kong, Free-Land China.

This was the most spectacular adventure, the Queen and Jewel of the Orient; just absolutely Majestic!

From Hong Kong the next stop was in Chaingmai, Thailand, quite a different world, visiting a silkfactory, hand-manufactured, plus amazing hand-carved wood sculptures; then to Bangkok Thailand, an "Eye-Opener" of scenery, experiences and wonderment. From there the next flight was to Singapore, the cleanest city in the world, then celebrating its 25th year of National Freedom and Independence. From Singapore the next stop was Jahkarta, Indonesia to the Island of Bali, quite a revealing and most scenic adventure, plus unforgettable memories. From there they retraced most of their path, stopping at Taipei, Taiwan, to visit a Vincentian Missionary and Father Jacob Johnson, whom Father Zientek has not seen for 32 years since the seminary days in Latin Classes.

Father Johnson has been in Tainan, Taiwan for thirty-one years in the Mission-Work.

Wozniak have been referred to as "The Veteran International Travelers", since they traveled 10 countries in Western Europe, plus Czechoslovakia and Poland behind the Iron Curtain, 3 countries in South America and "The Al Pacificco Railway" through Mexico.

DISTRICT II SETS SKATING PARTY DATE The date of September 30 has been set for our fall skating party.

This will be held at the Skate Haven in Temple from 5 p.m. until 7:15 p.m. on South 31st Street again.

There will be prizes given away and you may bring a friend. Please ask this friend to join your club. We hope you can be present because this will be our last District II activity for 1984. Come to see your camp friends!

The District II fall meeting was well-attended and we thank everyone for attending. We had about 65 youth members at the bowling alley, plus about 10 adults.

Everyone enjoyed bowling and the meal/dance furnished by Lodge 187 Round Rock and District II. We wish to thank Lodge 187 Round Rock for their fine hospitality and the use of their facilities, and making the arrangements for bowling. We thank you!

On behalf of the District II officers and DYC, we wish to thank everyone for their support during 1984 and we ask your support in the future. If you have any suggestions on how to change or improve our district activities, we would be open for suggestions; you may contact any district officer, district director or DYC and we will welcome your suggestions.

For 1985 our goal for youth attendance in District II: We are hoping for a 10 percent increase in club and district attendance. Let us try to achieve this goal! It can be done. May we depend on your help?

Congratulations to all State YAD winners. Everyone did a great job and you were all district winners; so, if you did not win at State please plan on it again next year. The experience you have gained from performing is well worth your time and effort. Thanks for your extra fine performances.

Karel Stark( ze gerotina (1564-1636) DneAni elanek je sepsan k. pietni vzpornince Karla st. ze Zerotina, vyznamneho mora yskeho politika od sklonku 16 stoleti do jeho smrti behem 30 lete valky. Karel st. pochazel ze znameho 'Alechtickeho rodu Zerotina, ktefi sehrali v dejinach Moravy i tech velmi vjrznaenou ulohu v 16 a 17 stoleti.

Tento rod vznikl pocatkem 14 stoleti na Unicovsku a g ternbersku na Severni Morave; rodove jmeno pochazi z pevodniho sidla u dne'Ani vesnice 2erotin, severozapadne od Olomouce, nedaleko od starobyleho mesta gternberku. 2erotinove 2ili tu jen jako mistni rytitska rodina al do poloviny 15 stoleti, kdy dalo k rozvoji tohoto rodu zasluhou 13ernarta a Jana, sync Bernarta ze Zerotina (1413-1457) za eeskooherskjr ch valek a boje ve Slersku behem vlady ceskeho krale Jifiho z Podebrad. Bratia Muchovci su zaujimavi nielen svojou hudbou, ale aj nastrojmi. Originalne sfr na nich hmatniky i slaky. Je to rezbarska praca jedneho z najmlad g ich bratov, Alojza (Alojz). Vytreil sa za stolara, avAak koniekom mu je rezbarstvo.
