Joe Spellerberg, known to his many polka fans as Moostash Joe, along with his band visited the SPJST home office on Friday, February 25th. The night before his fine music filled SPJST Lodge 18 in Elgin. He played on Wednesday at Lodge 13 in Dime Box. The band members are all from around Dodge, Nebraska. Joe plans to make a Texas tour each year during February and hopes to be able to announce in the near future where and when he will be playing. The Moostash Joe Band will be one of the featured bands at the Ennis Polka Fest on May 5th and 6th.

A great deal of enthusiasm for the band is evident as all halls want them back next year. Joe's personality and total dedication in pleasing the crowd seemed to be the comments heard about the group. Although some of the musicians were relatively young, they certainly knew their business. We are certainly glad they are coming back to Texas and if you missed their performance, see them the next time they are here.

Tickets for the conference, sponsored by the Czech Club of the University of Texas, may be purchased during registration. Below are the directions to Lodge Praha No. 29: From Austin take 1-35 north, turn off at Hwy. 79 to Taylor, passing through Round Rock and Hutto, and following Hwy. 79 to signs all the way through Taylor. Then turn left at the second red light. Turn right at the next red light. You will pass by the Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Hall and under a loop going out-of-town. After the loop, turn left on the next road FM 619; one-half mile down the road on the right is the SPJST Lodge 29 lodge building.

Czech Festival Worth "Check"in Out CZECH FILM FESTIVAL TO PREMIERE AT THE GRANADA THEATRE ON THURSDAY, MARCH 22. For many years, the cinema of Czechoslovakia has proven to be one of the world's most exciting film forces. Some of the truly great filmmaking talents have emerged from Czechoslovakia, including Academy Award winner Milos Forman (ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST), Ivan Passer (CUTTER'S WAY) and Karl Reisz (THE FRENCH LIEUTENANT'S WOMAN), to name but a few. With this latest collection of Czech masterworks, we present a new generation of filmmakers, a Czech New Wave whose fresh style and innovative techniques should more than assure them the same Hollywood success as their predecessors. A distinguished array of eight premiere works, there is humor and wisdom to be found in such clever outings as SHORTCUTS and RUN WAITER, RUN, while BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and THE MYSTERIOUS CASTLE IN THE CARPATHIANS shimmer with a kind of mythical mixture of merriment and mirth. Questions of a more serious nature are sensitively treated in SIGNUM LAUDIS and THE ASSISTANT. Invigorating and highly entertaining, these films bring to the forefront film-makers of enormous capabilities who will soon be as influential here as they now their native land. are in Demonstrating "high quality, boldness, and humanism" as the Boston Globe characterized these special films, CZECH CINEMA is a festival that heralds the U.S. arrival of these important filmmakers and their trend-setting efforts. PRESS CONTACT: For further information or stills, please contact Bill Neal at the Granada Theatre at 823-9619.

By Law Committee To Meet The By Law Committee will again meet Saturday, March 17, 1984 in Temple at the SPJST Supreme Lodge Building.
