Throughout the years the association has made contributions for colleges, universities, homes for the aged and other charitable and patriotic purposes. The association also has supported the Czech National Council for Higher Education which has popularized higher education among Americans of Czech descent and offers scholarships for that purpose. TJC, the University of Texas at Austin and universities in Nebraska and Wisconsin are recipients of contributions by WFLA recently. Czech scholarships are granted to students who have continued and successfully completed Czech courses of study at TJC. Since the program began more than 400 students have enrolled in some 50 Czech courses at TJC. ***

Czech Ex-Teachers & Students Conference Scheduled The eleventh annual conference of the Czech ex-students and exteachers of Texas will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 24th at the SPJST Lodge No. 29 lodge home located near Taylor, Texas. A program will be outlined consisting of guest speakers sharing ideas and experiences on a variety of Czech-related topics beginning at 2 p.m. Other activities scheduled for the evening include a social hour at 5 p.m.; a barbecue meal to be served at 6:30 p.m., and a dance will also be held. Tickets for the conference, sponsored by the Czech Club of the University of Texas, may be purchased during registration. Below are the directions to Lodge Praha No. 29: From Austin take 1-35 north, turn off at Hwy. 79 to Taylor, passing through Round Rock and Hutto, and following Hwy. 79 to signs all the way through Taylor. Then turn left at the second red light. Turn right at the next red light. You will pass by the Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Hall and under a loop going out-of-town. After the loop, turn left on the next road FM 619; one-half mile down the road on the right is the SPJST Lodge 29 lodge building. ***
