************************** Fraternal Affairs Section * Lodge 186, Caldwell, will host a Child Abuse and Neglect * program for area lodges Sunday, November 13, at its lodge * home, beginning at 2 p.m. Presenting the program will be Thelma Hrncir, SPJST * project coordinator, along with Charles Jenkins, program director, and other supervisors from the Children's Program Services of the Texas Dept. of Human Resources, and Ben * Trcalek, District I director. All interested SPJST members and community residents * * are invited to the meeting, with a special invitation being ex-* * tended to the Caldwell, Dime Box, Snook, New Tabor, Bryan * * and Warrenton lodges. Following an explanation of the SPJST's involvement in * * * the project, the Society's film, "Other People's Children" will * be shown. DHR workers will tell of local needs and problems * * and offer various ways interested lodges can become * * * involved in the new project. * A refreshment hour will follow to allow an exchange of * * ideas with the workers. Local arrangements are being * * handled by Faye Gail, Vicki Wine and President Clint Luksa.

Lodge 161 Scholarship Recipient

Sandra House, left, received a $1,000.00 SPJST Scholarship which her grandmother Tillie Valchar, right, (Lodge 161 La Parita secretary-treasurer) presented to her. Sandra is majoring in Agricultural Economics at Texas A&M University. Sandra is the daughter of Lloyd and Bettie House of Charlotte, Texas. (Sister Valchar is a sales representative and a past District VII Sales Representative -- Editor)

On that same date, November 13th, Lodge 180 at Burleson, will host a Benefit Battle Dance with proceeds going to the Child Abuse and Neglect Project. Doors at the lodge home * will open at 4 p.m., with dancing from 5 to 10 p.m. (For more complete details, refer to the Advertisement Section in this * 'sr issue.) * Mydelle Grochoske, fraternal affairs coordinator for * * Lodge 180, is in charge of local arrangements and extends a * * special invitation to all SPJST members and guests * * throughout the entire State. *

NTSU Cum Laude Graduate

Stephen Chudej received his Bachelor of Arts Degree at the Summer Exercises in advertising art, speech and drama Radio/TV Film. A 1980 graduate from St. John's High School, Mark attended Navarro College transferring, in his sophomore year, to North Texas State University where he served as treasurer of Alpha Epsilon Rho in his Junior year and President in his Senior year. He was the recipient of the Outstanding Cooperative Education Student award and the Outstanding Undergraduate Student in Radio/TV Film award.
