.Kaluza Appointed Postmaster
Freddie J. Kaluza was appointed the new Postmaster at West effec tive Saturday, August 6, 1983, Sectional Center Manager/Postmaster Norman R. Adamson, Sr. of Waco announced recently. Kaluza, age 31, is a native of West and began his Postal Service career in 1974 as a Part-time Clerk/Carrier. He is presently serving as Superintendent of Postal Operations and he has served as Officer-In-Charge at Mart, Ross, and West. Postmaster selections are made on the basis of merit from a list of qualified candidates submitted to the Sectional Center Manager by a Review Committee. The Review Committee, composed of a district director from the same district, a sectional center director or postmaster from the same sectional center and a sectional center manager or postmaster from a different district, review the applicants for the position and recommend to the sectional center manager those
candidates who best meet the position requirements. The sectional center manager then selects and recommends to the Postmaster General the best qualified person for appointment to the vacancy. Kaluza graduated from West High School and received an Associate of Arts Degree from Hill Junior College. He also received a Postal Administration Degree from McLennan Community College. He is an emergency care attendant for the West Ambulance Service and is a member of the SPJST and the Catholic Church of the Assumption. Kaluza and his wife, the former Janice Matus, have 3 sons: Shawn, age 9; Justin, age 6; and Brandon, age 2, who are all members of Lodge No. 54 in West.
