Rest Home No. I Our 25th Anniversary Celebration was a great success and the people of Taylor and surrounding communities supported us with beautiful floral arrangements, memorials, special gifts, and words of congratulations. Danny Drozd played his accordion to the delight of the audience before the program began. Nick Morris, president of the Supreme Lodge, gave a history of the Rest Home and a short address was delivered by George Ruzicka, the mayor of Taylor. President of (Continued on Page 7)
Fraternal Affairs By Thelma Hrncir Fifty SPJST members and guests attended the Child Abuse and Neglect Program hosted by Lodge 177, Acidemy Wednesday night, August 10th. Following the lodge's regular monthly meeting, President Jerry Tomastik introduced Brother Henry Vitek, District II director. After a short welcome, Brother Vitek introduced Director Thelma Hrncir of Corpus Christi, the State Volunteer Coordinator for the Society's New Child Abuse Project. She was assisted by Ms. Harolyn Moreau of Temple, Department of Human Resources Volunteer Supervisor for Region 6.
The slide presentation, "Other People's Children," was followed by a discussion and question-andanswer period. The lodges that were represented were 24, 47, 80, 87, 117 and 177. These lodges were asked to select a Fraternal Activities' Director who will work with the contact person from the DHR and present various needs to the individual lodges for their consideration. A social hour followed the meeting and program. *** September 11 Director Hrncir, assisted by District IV Director Stanley Broz and Manny Maldonado, Protective Service Worker from Region 4, will present the Child Abuse Program at the Wall Fire-
men's Hall in Wall. The program will follow the Lodge 160 meeting beginning at 2 p.m. Members of Lodge 49, Rowena, and all interested members in the nearby area are cordially invited to attend. *** Twenty-two members of Lodge 107 heard the Child Abuse and Neglect program Sunday, August 14 at their lodge, home. State coordinator for the project, Director Hrncir was assisted by Children's Protective Services Program Director Ms. Donna Garrett of San Antonio. The members will select a definite course of action with the new project at their September meeting, October 2nd, as well as select their Fraternal Affairs Director.
