More Donations To Czech Language Studies Donations to Czech language studies recently included contributions to Northlake Community College in Irving and Eastfield Community College in Mesquite, both in the Dallas area. Presentations were made by two officers of the Home Office of the RVOS, headquartered in Temple. Stan Patak, RVOS 2nd vice president of Dallas, presented a donation to Libor Vane, Czech language instructor at Northlake CC. RVOS President Glen Hutka

made the donation to George Stark, Czech language instructor at Eastfield CC. These donations will be used to provide scholarships and purchase of items to aid in the study of the Czech language. The RVOS Home Office is located in Temple, and both Bros. Patak and Hutka are members of the SPJST, Bro. Patak belonging to Lodge 130 in Dallas and Bro. Hutka belonging to Lodge 47 near Seaton.

National Achiever

Troy Marx

Troy Marx, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Marx, has been announced a 1983 United States Achievement Academy Award winner in Physical Science. The nomination was made by his Physical Science teacher, Mr. Laur at Taylor High School. Troy and his family are all members of Lodge 29 at Taylor, and he is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wiesner of Taylor. He is the District II King and has been very active in the Youth Club. Elgin Lodge No. 18 Members' Granddaughter Elected National F.H.A. President

Selected Valedictorian

Washington, July D.C., 1983 — Teresa Montz of Friendswood, Texas, was elected one of twelve national student officers representing 390,000 Future Homemakers of America members during the organization's 1983 National Leadership Meeting, held July 10-14 in Washington, D.C. Teresa was elected President — the highest honor a Future Homemaker of America member can receive. Teresa's election took place during a five-day leadership event centered around the student(Continued on Page 11)

Miss Karen Faye Shelton, member of SPJST Lodge 66, was awarded the Valedictorian honor of the 1983 graduating class of La Vega High School in Waco. Karen was a member and officer of many clubs and organizations including National Honor Society (secretary), Band (vice president, secretary), Flag Corps (three-year captain), Drama Club (vice president), Lutheran Youth Organization (treasurer), SPJST (three-year president, two-year secretary, senior reporter, junior reporter), Calculator Club, Track team, and Volleyball team. She also served on the Prom Committee, Class Sales Committee, Senior Trip Committee, and the SPJST Scrapbook Committee. (Continued on Page 11)
