JOSHUA STUDENT HONORED AT MS PROMOTION
Member Chosen Miss Rogers
Several eighth graders won top academic honors at the end of the school closing held May 27th at the Joshua Middle School promotion ceremonies. Brad Janek, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Janek, was second in the class of 228 students and therefore, gave the salutatory address. During his 3 years at Middle School, he earned a 97.20 average. Besides being the second highest from his graduating class, he received several awards in Drama, lettered in Football and Basketball and also received a certificate for perfect attendance for the 1982-83 year period. Brad and his parents are all members of Lodge 180 in Burleson. (He is the grandson of the late Frank and Wilma Janek, formerly of West, Texas—Submitted by Bro. Jerry W. Janek — Editor.)
Lisa Tepera has been selected to represent Rogers in the MISS TEXAS USA Pageant to be held in San Antonio, Texas, July 23 through August 1. The pageant finale will be televised at 8 p.m. August 1 from Sar Antonio. Selection was made after recent interviews at Dillard's Department Store in Temple. Lisa, age 18, is a recent honor graduate of Rogers High School. Lisa was a member of the Rogers Junior High and High School Honor Society, serving as vice president during 1982-83. Lisa also served as Senior Class secretary-treasurer. She was Sophomore Homecoming Queen candidate. Lisa was also a Junior High and High School twirler. Lisa has also been a member of Jeannie Adams' All Stars Twirling (Continued on Page 8)
