The interest generated in the study of conversational Czech at Alvin Community College at Alvin, Texas has led to the establishment of a credit course. The introductory course starts the 1982 fall term. It will earn three semester-hours credit and continue as a second-year course the, following fall. Each student can earn 12 hours toward graduation and will satisfy the core requirements of the school. Accreditation is acknowledged by all institutions throughout the state. ACC authorities realize the interest is great enough so the catalog of courses will carry Czech in its-humanities curriculum. A worthwhile activity of the present Czech class is the awarding of two annual $150 scholarships to qualified students at ACC. These funds come from extra-curricular activities of the class members. This year, through unwavering determination, the class has decided on two $400 scholarships. All Czechs throughout Texas should offer a tipof-the-hat and a big , thank-you for the persistence shown by this class.
