Lovelady Lodge No. 74 Plans Projects For 1982 The February meeting was called o order, by our President Jamee Wilcox. Reports of ficers and committees were ead and accepted by the members. Our main topic of discussion for the evening was goals for 1982. There were lots of ideas on what to do to improve our lodge. After some discussions, it was decided to: 1. Asphalt a portion of the parking area in front of the lodge. 2. Construct a metal building to store our lawnmowers in. 3. Rewire and replace new speakers to our PA system. We hope to have more improvements to report later on, to make our lodge a better and more beautiful place. We were saddened to hear the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Cottrell was destroyed by fire and Mrs. Cottrell was badly burned. Lodge No. 74 donated $100 to this family. The Youth Club did an outstanding job on decorating our ballroom for Valentine's Day. We thank each and everyone of you. Members, remind your guest(s) as you invite them to the dances on Saturday night and also for members, a new Lodge No. 74 Rule is: Anyone taking alcohol beverage in or out of the lodge or, fighting is automatically suspended from the

We urge each of you to inquire about the lodge rules and abide by them. I would like to mention about the workers in the different departments on Saturday night: We have Ms. Nan Code selling admission tickets, Mrs. Thelma Stewart in the kitchen; in the bar we have Ms. Emma Maples, Jane and Bill Frazier and Jerry Michka, our bar chairman. These people give up their Saturday nights, so the rest of us can have a good time; tell them how much you appreciate them. I almost forgot the smiling face of our security guard, Constable Severn Rodgers; he sees that we act like ladies and gentlemen, while smiling at us all the way. We appreciate all these dedicated workers.

GEORGE WASHINGTON General, President, Father of. His Country .. "First in war, first in peace, first in the hearts of his countrymen." Today, we think of George Washington also as the First American . . . a man of wisdom and balance whose standard of civic duty still serves as a guideline for us all; service, leadership and humility.
THE HANDICAPPED ARE FAMILY TOO A concern for the needs of others has been the heart of fraternalism since John Jordan Upchurch organized the first fraternal lodge in Meadville, Pennsylvania, on October 27, 1868. As a local unit or as a family there are many opportunities for us to share our lives with the handicapped. Here are some suggested activities. For your Local Unit • Provide an opportunity for members to understand different disabilities by conducting an educational program as part of a unit meeting. The program can feature a movie, a speaker or a demonstration. Make it an open meeting and invite families to participate. (Continued on Page 9)
