NOTICE! PLEASE READ! This is the last issue of your SPJST Vestnik for 1980 and also the last issue in the present form.

The next issue of the Vestnik will be dated January 7, 1981 and will be: Volume 69 Number 1.

There will be these changes made with that first issue of 1981. to-wit: I). It will all be printed in larger type for easier reading, especially the Czech Section for our elderly members and readers, ..

2.) It will come out in tabloid format of 16 pages which will be the same amount of space as the present 32 pages and probably a little more space for type, because we will not have that extra fold.

3). It will be folded in the same size except will told out and not be stapled, nor pasted as it is done' now 4). It will be mailed in Temple instead of West.

5.) Advertising will be controlled by the editor and the Supreme Lodge; only our lodges and non-competitive life insurance fraternal organizations such as Sokol, SVPS, RVOS, etc. will be advertised - there will be no commercial advertising. Piease send all advertising to your editor at P.O. Box 85, West, Tx. 76691. The final details will be decided at the January quarterly meeting of our Supreme Lodge. The report was in the excerpts of our October 1980 SL meeting minutes.

There will be one page for advertising and one page ror; the Lodges' calendar.

Box 85, West, Texas 76691. ** By the time you read these lines Christmas 1980 will be history and, for most of you, unless you receive your Vestnik on Wednesday, the new year 1981 will have been ushered in and will be a matter of present and future concern for everyone who lives on this planet Earth. Fraternally and sincerely, may it be a year of good health, mainly, prosperity and happiness for anyone who happens to read these lines; may it also be the best year in our SPJST Society's history! As editor of our SPJST Vestnik and having been involved in SPJST activities for over 50 years, I have seen it grow from a small Texas-based fraternal organization to a Society with a multi-million dollars in insurance and assets. Happy, healthy and prosperous 1981 to ALL! * Now that we are entering the second new year in another decade, perhaps many members wonder how to make your lodge prosper. Here is some food for thought: First of all, when a man's car breaks down, he doesn't stand around and talk or indulge in wishful thinking; he fixes it.

Whenever your lodge is not functioning as it should, more talk and wishful thinking will have no more effect than it would have on your car when it stalls.

You must do something about it. And since your lodge is a joint enterprise, so to speak, you must arouse your fellow members to the urgency of the particular repair job that needs to be done.

In order to maintain our SPJST in good working repair, a dynamic, progressive society, we must, first of all, keep informed of what other lodges do in the way of advancing, gaining in membership, or satisfying the social needs of its

members, especially the elderly and younger ones. We must study our own needs as applicable to our home conditions.

This year, we must go into action. By example and precept, we must try to overcome the deadly enemy which we find in every lodge, without an exception, the easy way of overlooking things by saying: "let someone else do it."

Usually, behind every great achievement, the building of the pyramids, or winning of a war for liberty, the creation of new machines, the revelation of inventions, stands a great mass of anonymous pehons. Just as every drop has the right to say: without me, the ocean would not be full, and every grain of sand to declare: without me, there would be no shoreline, so, too, every individual, however humble and unpretentious or unappreciated, has the right to say; without me, this generation would not be doing its appointed or elected tasks.

The way to make our lodges live is to work with others to show the living spirit of the lodge. Your lodge is an organizational unit composed of so many smaller units, the same as your body is a living unit with each cell of your body performing its particular work.

Get into action. Plan your action with others. Put living thoughts in your lodge work. Good luck!

Brother Smith spoke to the members present on the importance of our Insurance Program and the need for new members to make their lodge grow.

Congratulations to all of you sales representatives who made an extra effort to make a sale for your lodge, district and the SPJST. We are indeed happy to say we have, again, some top sales representatives who did a great deed to someone in need of protection for their loved ones. No. '`1 is Sister Helen Hegwood of Lodge 88; keep it up for our time for 1980 is almost at a close.

Brother E.W. Gaydosik of Lodge 42, keep on adding members to your lodge; this is the only way a lodge can grow; that is by the sales representatives adding new members.

We added 2 new sales representatives to our District V; they are Sister Lorine Wiley from Lodge 91 and Brother Lonnie L. Lostak from Lodge 139; we all, in District V, wish you much success in your insurance selling. Hoping you will not want to leave your name off our sales representatives' list. We have many sales representatives who have not made a sale. Hope you will kindly sell someone, because, at this time of the year, people are shopping for what to give people for a gift. What a nice gift someone could give to someone; a policy of their choice.

District V is still short in meeting their quota. I want all of you to help us reach our goal. This is very important for District V to meet their quota. We have 59 sales representatives and if everyone

of you would write an applicant for $10,000, we would reach the quota that was set for us by the Supreme Lodge.

Christmas time is doing something for someone. How many of you thought of giving something to someone in need of insurance? Or at least helping them to have a plan of their own that they can afford? They would appreciate your kind help, also all the grandparents want to do something for their grandchildren and buying an insurance plan for`them would be a wonderful gift at Christmas time.

The sales representatives all deserve a hand of fraternalism for the work they are achieving for their lodges. The SPJST was founded on these tenets and a lot of members are not trying to live up to our standard of Fraternalism, Benevolence, Humanity and Brotherhood; we all need to work closer together and make our Society grow for without sales we will not grow!

Happy Holidays It's Christmas and time for remembering our loved ones and friends near and far recalling the caring, the sharing, the joys that make you as dear as you are. It's time for expressing warm wishes for holidays filled with good cheer because, in the memories we treasure, we're together at Christmas this year. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Wednes4y, December 24, 1980 Congratulations to our new sales representative, Dorothy G. Hahn who has become active and has made a sale, from El Maton of Lodge No. 18. Other new sales representatives who have been trained and also appointed to join our team are Lucile Haun of Yorktown, Lodge No. 190, Leona Macha of El Campo Lodge No. 50 and David Allen of Columbus, Lodge No. 8. We welcome you and wish you much success in insurance sales.

Deepest sympathy is extended to the entire family and relatives of the Jerome Hlavaty family of Lolita whose son, Larry Hlavaty, was killed in an oil field accident. Bro. Jerome Hlavaty is one of the top sales representatives in District VI of LaSalle Lodge No. 153.

Also, sincere sympathy is extended to the relatives of Lee Krause, Jr. who passed away in November. He was a sales representative of Lodge No. 153 of Inez and was a tormer district sales representative.

We now have 199 members for $1,385,000 insurance sold in 1980; excellent work.

We had our local lodge meeting Sunday - it was well-attended; we enjoyed a delicious noon meal and brotherhood.

I want to extend greetings to all sales representatives for a Happy Holiday Season, also to our Editor R. Sefcik and wife, our great Society SPJST officers, employees, State Field Managers and our directors and also hoping 1981 will be a very fruitful year.

All the present officers were re-elected to serve in 1981; namely, D.I. Bohac, president; Terry Bertrand, vice president; Alvin •Martinets, recording secretary; Clifton Martinets, financial secretary; and Glen Latham, treasurer.

They will be installed at the January meeting.

The Christmas party for the members who attended Saturday, December 13th was enjoyed very much by all.

The door prize winners at the meeting were: 1st—Hy Balusek, 2nd--Clifton Martinets, 3rd--Glen Latham; and the president gave away 2-six packs of refreshments and it was won by his wife, Marie, so I guess D.I. got to drink some of it also.

There was no other transaction to be discussed, the meeting adjourned at 3;20 p.m. to meet on the first Sunday in January, 1981.

LODGE NO. 80, HOLLAND Dear Members and Friends: The annual lodge meeting of our lodge was called to order by President Bohac, Sunday, December 7 at 2 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by the members present.

Roll call of officers showed all were present.

The minutes of the November meeting were adopted as read by the secretary.

Correspondence was acknowledged: a card from the Gommert family, thanking the lodge for the flowers for Walter Gommert's funeral; and Christmas cards from the Supreme Lodge and Editor Rudy Sefcik.

The president thanked all those who came for the cleanup at the hall.

NO. 28, EAST BERNARD

Dear Members: The January 1981 meeting will be held in our hall on the 4th at 2 p.m. The agenda will cover the customary, reports, election of a vice president and any other• business that needs to be taken care of at this time. There will be the meeting after the meeting as always.

In our December meeting all reports given were accepted. Brother Lupik, our secretary, was absent but with a very good reason. Early Saturday morning, December 6th, unbeknownst to him, his heart "pacemaker," started to go bad.

He was taken to St. Luke's to Houston late Saturday evening and the pace-maker was replaced with a new one that night. As of this writing, he has been home three days.

The lodge members present voted to donate some money to the East Bernard Volunteer Fire Department. With this, it was urged, by one member, that those who could, should attend and participate in the weekly VFD conclave at the Legion Hall.

All officers were re-elected with exception of the vice president who wished to be relieved of his post for personal reasons. All committees are also the same.

6 At the end of the meeting there were several drawings for door prizes. The usual door prize was won by Sister Alene Kortis. There were four additional door prizes, in form of gifts, two for the women and two for the men, donated by Sisters Luquette and Nezval. Sister Alene Kortis, again was lucky, won the first prize and the second prize was won by Sister Lydia Sperlik.

Brother Frank Brdecka won the first prize of the two men's prizes and Brother Anton Kelner, Jr. won the second prize.

The "Kaffee Klatsch," after the meeting, was a success with the lodge furnishing the "klobase" and liquid refreshments. Sisters Sperlik, Haverda, Sabrusula, Foytik, Kortis, Brdecka, Valigura, Luquette and Nezval furnished the trimmings to finish the meal. As always, there was enough and more for everyone partaking.

Since "tis the season to be jolly", we wish to pass the following greetings to all: "May your Christmas be Merry and your New Year be Happy, Prosperous, Healthy and Safe."

Remember, if you must travel this Holiday Season, keep your speed down on the "Double Nickel" and, in the words of Jewish lady comic: "Deck the Halls with Matza Balls."

at the Gulf Coast Medical Center; also Jeanette Rosenbaum and Ruth Ann Laza are on the sick list. We wish you all a speedy recovery.

Brother John Kolaja is back at the rest home after spending several weeks at the hospital. He is somewhat improved and will appreciate your visit.

We have two converted policies: Katherine Graber and Sandra Zapalac.

A motion was made to send a holiday greeting to each of our members who are at various rest homes.

Refund checks were handed out and the attendance prize was won by Brother Gilbert Walzel.

The newly-elected officers for 1981 were duly installed by Brother Herbert Nowotny and the meeting adjourned.

While Sister Willie Mae Kuykendal led the group in singing Christmas carols, 'ole' Santa appeared on the scene to the delight of the little ones. He was very generous and handed out bags of fruit, nuts and candy to everyone present; after his departure everyone enjoyed a delicious covered dish supper.

May you all have a blessed Christmas Holiday and best wishes for happiness in the New Year.

Installation of officers will be held at our next meeting January 11th at 6:30 p.m. which is Sunday at the lodge hall, 1220 D. West Arkansas Lane in Arlington. More details later.

We will have a New Year's Eve Dance December 31st at our lodge hall. All are invited; the time is from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., with music by Henry Rejcek Polka Band of Ennis. The admission will be $6 per person and includes a party favor. Come and join us in the celebration.

We send "get-well" wishes and pray that Sid Pokladnik, our director will have a speedy recovery.

LODGE NO. 81, NEEDVILLE

SPJST Lodge No. 81 met December 14 at 2 p.m. with President Charlie Matcek presiding. The meeting was called to order and the Pledge of Allegiance to our flag was led by Sister Vlasta Nowotny; all remained standing as a tribute to our deceased member, Brother Ed Macha. Our sympathy goes to his wife and their son and his family.

All officers answered the roll call.

Secretary Mary Werner read the minutes which were approved as read.

She also read several holiday greetings and a card of thanks from Mr. Harvey Marx, administrator of the S.P.J.S.T. Rest Home No. 2 in Needville, for the fruit our lodge brought to the residents of the home.

Financial report was given by Aleene Zwahr. Willie Mae Kuykendal gave the treasurer's report. A good report was given by the Special Fund Treasurer Gilbert Walzel. All of the above reports were accepted as given.

Sister Vlasta Holt is reported very ill

Dear Members: Our monthly meeting was held Sunday afternoon, December 14th. President B.J. Hlavaty called the meeting to order and Karen Hlavaty led the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.

All officers were present for roll call.

Secretary Patricia Sill read the minutes from our previous meeting and reports were given by Treasurer Inez Greenlees and Financial Secretary Daniel Roznovsky. All were approved as read. Our secretary acknowledged the Christmas Greetings received from Editor Rudy Sefcik and his family. We appreciate his kind words.

Business discussed included hall activities, bar and kitchen help and the naming of chairpersons for hall activities.

It was suggested the lodge buy a turkey for a needy family during the Holiday Season. Inez Greenlees will be in charge of this project.

LODGE NO. 18, ELGIN

Dear Members and Friends: Our monthly meeting was held December 16th with Lodge 18 President Leslie Gustafson leading the Pledge of Allegiance. All reports by officers and chairmen were accepted and approved as read.

New Year's Eve tickets are on sale at $7.50 per person and can be purchased at our lodge ticket office on Wednesday nights from 7 to 9 or by writing to Judy Prinz, P.O. Box 55, Elgin, Texas 78621.

Due to the number of cafeterias now open in the Elgin area, the lodge members have decided to not serve breakfast this year.

Our lodge Christmas party was held Sunday, December 21 from 3 to 6 p.m. and lodge members brought light refreshments.

We regret to hear that Bro. Geo. Diebel has been hospitalized with surgery scheduled for the later part of this week; too, Bro. Albert Mikulencak had eye surgery and is now recuperating at home.

LODGE NO. 154, FORT WORTH

Dear Members and Friends: Our meeting Sunday was called to order by our president, Brother Jerry Milan.

After the Pledge of Allegiance the members stood for a moment of silence for our deceased, Brother Clinton Polansky.

We extend our sincere sympathy to all of the family members of Sister Helen Zich of Lodge No. 92 who passed away December 16th.

All reports were approved as read.

The Auditing Committee reported the books were checked and all were in order.

Brother Steinman reminded us of the Workshop that will be held at Lodge No. 25 in Ennis, April 4th.

Brother Milan thanked everyone for a job well done by all.

Christmas Greetings were read from the Supreme Lodge, our editor, Rudy Sefcik, the Ray Johnsons and the Banfis from Chicago, Illinois.

Sister Margie Cline will be entering the hospital for surgery and we wish her a speedy recovery. Brother George Halford was in the Mayo Clinic for two weeks and is now home in Pekin, Illinois; get-well soon, George. He is the grandson of Sister Mary Hale.

Sister Rose Steinman was our door prize recipient and she, in turn, gave it to the youth club.

This is almost the end of a very busy year and thanks are extended to all who have worked so hard to make our last five and one-half years so successful; many hours have been donated and without you, it could not be done. God Bless you all!

In lieu of Christmas cards to their Fort Worth friends, Brother Henry and Sister Ann Banfi of Chicago donated $10 to the Building Fund.

We extend our congratulations to Brother Roy E. Cox.who is now a partner with Rylander, Clay and Opitz Certified Public Accountants and to Brother John Naughton who was elected mayor of Cicero, Illinois.

We also extend our congratulations to Sister Linda and Brother Clinton Heinrich on the arrival of their son. The proud grandparents are Brother Albert and Sister Martha Boenisch.

I enjoyed being secretary and reporter this year, but I know that Lydia Alholm will do a great job.

LODGE NO. 54, WEST Dear Members: Our December 14th quarterly meeting started on time with the atmosphere filled with Christmas spirit.

Following the Pledge of Allegiance, a moment of silent tribute was observed for our departed Lodge No. 54 members: Sister Margaret Shieldes, and Brothers Emil Popp, Bedrich (Ben) Bajer and Joseph P. Cinek; to each, we wish eternal rest.

Very good reports were presented by all the lodge officers, including the reading of the last quarterly meeting minutes; they were all accepted as read.

Correspondence acknowledged were Seasonal Greetings from the SPJST Home Office, and the Vestnik editor and his family plus a booklet of the SPJST Convention Proceedings.

It was reported that Brother Alfonse Cocek of West is seriously ill. On behalf of Lodge No. 54 members, I wish to express to him and Brother Sid Pokladnik, District III director, a speedy recovery.

President Zahirniak recognized Sister Theresa Marek, who is a member of our lodge and a member of the SPJST for 62 years and being the oldest member attending the meeting; also he recognized his granddaughter, Whitney

Scott, who is 7 months old and the youngest in attendance.

The years seem to gain momentum--especially as one grows older. This past year is no different, because it is hard to believe that it was time for the election of officers. With each year, we are reminded that we are quite fortunate to have dedicated members in our lodge who oversee their elective and/or appointive duties and try to build a stronger community. Those serving another term in the new year include: President---Ernest Zahirniak, Vice President---Ted Kocian, Secretary--Maxine Sefcik, Financial/Secretary and Treasurer---Bob Wright, Youth Leader---Mona Zahirniak.

Serving as English reporter will be Maxine Sefcik and Jan Vaculik as Czech reporter.

All the officers, who were re-elected without opposition, expressed their gratitude for the members' vote of confidence and pledged to continue their services for another year.

Candidates for membership at Lodge No. 54 are: David C. Iverson, Rosalie A. Marek, Larry Wayne Marek, Carla Lhea Kasik, Renee Suzanne Scheler; and a conversion policy for Michelle Ann Wolf. A Motion was made and passed to accept them into our lodge.

March 8th is the date designated for our first quarterly meeting in the new year, beginning at 3 p.m.

Amy Kocian was the door prize recipient.

President Zahirniak adjourned the meeting at 3:15 p.m. and related best wishes and good health to everyone.

It was a delightful moment to see Santa stop by while he had so many other stops to make; it was wonderful to see him among the youngsters and watch huge smiles appear on their faces. Atterwards, a delicious meal, prepared by the Kitchen Committee, was enjoyed including refreshments and homemade pastries. Our thanks to those who assisted in any way to make the season's festivities enjoyable.

While these lines are being written before the holidays, may the Christmas season hold the promise of happiness for everyone. May each passing year bring full appreciation of the fraternal bonds made possible by our acquaint ances through membership in our SPJST Society.

Fraternally, Maxine Sefcik Secretary/Reporter *** Below is a delicious Forgotten Cookie recipe from Sister Mildred Grossman member of Lodge No. 54, West; she brought these delicious cookies to our Christmas Party.

Forgotten Cookies

By Mildred Grossman First pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.

Then beat two egg whites with 1/8 teaspoon cream of tartar until stiff. Add 2/3 cups of sugar, beat until stiff. Fold in 1 cup of coconut (or small chocolate chips) and 1 cup nuts and 1 teaspoon vanilla.

Drop by teaspoonfuls on a brown paper covered pan. Place in your oven and cut off the heat. Leave the pan overnight in the oven and remove from the brown paper with a spatula.

Just as this report was being written a call came telling of the death early this morning of one of our dearest long-time members, Sister Helen Zich. She was a faithful member in the past and spent many hours helping the lodge until age and infirmity forced her to retire. Her son, Carl, was president of Lodge No 92 many years and we regret also to learn that hei7‘as taken to the hospital during the ight but the nature of his illness is not yet known. We offer our aid to our Secretary Christine, daughter-in-law of Helen, and wife of Carl.

I'll use the last few lines to tell you all that my wish for you is for a healthy, happy and blessed Christmas. I've enjoyed writing for you the past few years and appreciate all your calls and bits of information. I especially thank our patient editor and his gracious wife and even the long-suffering typesetter.

Hope I've brought just a little cheer to someone, someplace, sometime and I wish good look to my successor.

LODGE NO. 74, LOVELADY LODGE NO. 92, FT. WORTH Dear Members and Friends; It's almost incredible how quickly these past eleven months have made history of 1980; but there's no doubt about it, it's Christmas, the blessed and sentimental season that imparts its spirit despite all the commercialism and disrespect it sometimes has to withstand. Our Christmas party and religious program by the children will be over when this is printed but, at this time, we are all looking forward to it.

The December meeting was spent for the main part on the election of officers for 1981. The results: President, Albert Kubala; Vice President, Kenneth Krivanek; Secretary, Christine Ziclr, Treasurer, John Murphy; Financial Secretary, Evelyn Spacek; Flagbearer, Stacey Hubenak; Youth Leader, Gordon Hubenak and Assistant Youth Leader, Cheryl Hubenak.

The Trustees Board will include: Frank Tesar, John Paprskar, John Murphy, Al Svacek and Albert Kubala.

Martha Durham, of the Sunshine Committee, reported that the Rev. Wm. Botik was in the hospital in Dallas.

Others who spent a few days there also were Max Singer, Felix Bunker and Richard Hubenak. Some members who required surgery during their hospital

stay were Joyce Whatly, Janelle Tatarevitch and Carl Zich. We were also concerned about the fact that Sid Pokladnik was ill and hope that he and all of the above-mentioned are now doing fine.

Congratulations to the Bill Lesikars on the occasion of their fiftieth anniversary and to the Bobby Phillips on their 25th.

Roy and Lydia Alholm were recipients of news of a delightful nature. Their son Anthony has been associated with a prominent law firm in Chicago for four years and has now been accepted as a partner in the firm. He and his family reside in Glen Ellyn and Tony commutes daily to his business. The Alholms' other son R. L. is a math instructor at Trimble Tech in Fort Worth.

Robert and Minnie Ruzicka are looking forward to Christmas guests.

Their daughter Gladys and husband Lonnie Burkhalter will be here before leaving soon for Germany where he will be stationed with the Army for a while; also son Calvin, his wife Ranelle and children will be home from New York.

Remember the last dance of the year, New Year's Eve starts at 8 p.m.

Reservations will be held only until 9 o'clock.

Dear Members and Guests: We had Larry Stanley and the Brand New Day come to our lodge for the first time; they did a good job entertaining our dancing fans. In fact, I heard comments that they are the best we've ever had. I think many of you, who didn't come and attend, missed out on good entertainment.

Brother Ray Michka passed away after a long illness. He really enjoyed the lodge very much. In fact, he danced three days prior to his death, at the age of 82 years.

He really will be missed by all who knew him.

All the officers were re-elected to carry on the job that has the major responsibilities in caring for the lodge.

Sister Dorothy Smith has been selected to be one of the trustee members on the board in place of Brother Jeff Moore, who had to, be relieved because of the load he has serving as our second vice president.

The New Year's Eve dance admission for members will be $5 per person and for non-members $7 per person. We are looking forward to a good turnout.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Sister Debbie Dlabaj. Brother Kudrna also called for a moment of silence for a deceased member, Brother Clemmie Barham.

On the sick list is Brother Sid Pokladnik, District III director, and Brother Johnny Cody. The members wish you both a speedy recovery.

The minutes of the last meeting were read by Sister Judy Patton and approved. The Executive Committee minutes were also read.

The following were present: President Glenn Kudrna, Treasurer Louis Kudrna, Recording Secretary Judy Patton, Financial Secretary Rita Holland, Booking Committeeman Johnny I. Krajca, and President-elect Van Fowler and Recording Secretary-elect Margaret Krajca.

President Kudrna called on Sister Judy Patton to make the presentation of the beautiful plaques to the very deserving couple, Louis and Dorothy Kudrna, "Mr. and Mrs. SPJST of Lodge No. 25 for 1980." Congratulations for receiving this well-earned award!

Brother Johnny Krajca made a motion to hire two well-known bands to play a two-day dancing engagement at the lodge in August. The members

voted to go ahead and work on the contract. Brother Krajca is to be commended for a good job he has done in booking all the good bands to'play for you next year. He was ably assisted by Scooter Holland.

Brother Krajca also made a motion to change a part of the Rules and Regulations to vote on committees instead of the president and vice-president appointing them. The members chose to leave the R&Rs as they were.

In an impressive ceremony President Kudrna installed the new officers of 1981. A picture will be sent to the Vestnik as soon as it will be available.

After all business topics were finished, Sister Judy Patton passed out the premium checks. There was a good attendance of forty-two members present.

I would like to take time out at this time to thank everyone who has helped my husband and myself in any way, in his duties as vice president and in our duties as Door Committee. We have had a lot of great people helping us and we want you to know we appreciated it very much. Thank you!

The first dance of 1981 will be January 24th; music by the great Mikula Band. There will be a new number to call foe your reservations, starting in January. January 31st will be a 50th wedding anniversary celebration for Brother and Sister Joe Pechal of Kaufman. The public is invited to the dance; music will be by the Country Boys.

I have been asked to stay on as your reporter for 1981. I want to thank everyone for their favorable comments about my letters. I will try to continue to keep you informed with news of your lodge in the coming year as in the past year.

December 7th, a pdrty for the members was held. There were about sixty-six families attending the joyful occasion. Recorded music was furnished by Doug Madewell. Santa Claus made a visit with a gift for each youngster present. An enjoyable afternoon was had by all. The food was exceptionally good and was served by the Kitchen Committee and a lot of fine helpers.

The meat was prepared by Gary Mizell.

By the time you read this letter, Christmas will be over, so I hope everyone had a very Merry and Blessed Christmas!

Dear Members: Those of you who missed the November meeting, sure missed a good treat, because we had some good barbecue. Brother Jerry Jarouzeski furnished the venison meat and &other Johnnie Valusek did the cooking; it sure was good. Thank you Jerry for the meat, and Johnnie thank you for the good job on cooking the meat; also you ladies who brought the covered dishes and pastries. Thank you!

As you may know by now that we are not having a lodge meeting in December; although, we will have a meeting in January, it will be held January 8 at 7 p.m. at 407 Ling in Bayou Vista. The Hungerford SPJST Lodge No. 58, held their annual meeting and Christmas party, Sunday, December 14 at the Hungerford Hall.

We want to thank these officers for accepting their positions and I know all of them will do a good job.

A nice group gathered at the SPJST hall for our annual meeting and social Sunday, December 7, 1980.

A domino tournament got underway about 3 p.m. Dominoes were, played until 5 p.m. when it was time to start our meeting and election of officers.

Winners were John 13urleson, Barbara Burleson, Phyllis Purchis, Laura Lea Pavliska with Liz Bielefeld taking the booby prize. Lots of fun and fellowship was enjoyed throughout the afternoon.

Meeting was called to order by President Bayer; he then led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.

Vice President Purchis was absent at officers' roll call.

Minutes were read and approved as read.

Treasurer and financial-secretary gave their reports.

Four new members were accepted on the recommendation of the Screening Committee. We are happy to welcome Jerry Ray Reavis, Jr., Natalie Sue Polasek, Raymond Meyer, Jr., and Jacqueline Burleson.

Polly Bayer, youth leader, reported that the hayride and Christmas party were all organized; she also gave a financial report of the youth club.

President Bayer then reported on the financial status of the adult club and stated a check had been received from the Floresville Fire Department, for our share of the Peanut Festival profits.

Holiday Greetings were read from Supreme Lodge officers, Financial-Secretary Jerry Mikulas, •President Nick Morris, Editor Rudy Sefcik and family, and Director-elect Thelma Hrncir.

Director Bayer reported that Director Sid Pokladnik had been hospitalized and was improving. The lodge's wishes are that he continues to recover.

Frances Love reported that Dorothy Chaney is in the hospital. We, the members, wish her a speedy recovery.

All officers and committee chairmen were present.

• The minutes were read by Secretary Dorothy Lisenbe. Following the reading of the minutes, all the committee chairmen gave their reports.

Sister Lisenbe also read the correspondence: A Christmas card received from the Supreme Lodge, and one from the Vestnik Editor; and Sister Lisenbe also stated that she has received the new SPJST By-laws from the Supreme Lodge.

Youth Leader Bettye Hawk gave the youth report. For the Christmas party, the youth members planned,to eat at Mr. Gatti's, go skating, and exchange gifts.

The Board of Trustees met December 3rd at 7 p.m. and they reported on the completion of the striping of the lodge's parking area, reflectors are to be put on the light poles of the parking Jot, roof needs to be checked for leaks, new bar and kitchen curtains to be purchased, and the New Year's Eve Dance tickets are now on sale.

Entertainment Chairman Jerry Tomastik reported that the 1981 dance schedules are being printed, and that the New Year's Eve Dance tickets are selling fast and that we had only 750 tickets printed.

Dorothy Massey made a motion and Rae Lisenbe seconded it to obtain docks

without advertising on them. Otis Beck will check into this from one of the office supply houses.

Richard Pustka suggested the lodge look into or secure some type of emergency lighting system in case of power failure or fire. Jack Chaney suggested that he will contact the Bell County Fire Marshall and let him decide what is needed for the lodge. Jack Chaney will contact the fire marshal.

Curtis Hawk suggested that the lodge buy a new popcorn machine. Wilbert Ramm and Louis Driska will check into this.

In addition to expressing his thanks, Brother Tomastik expressed his appreciation to all who attended this meeting; he also recognized Sister Mary Dubec, a member of Lodge No. 177 and District II secretary.

Before the' meeting adjourned, the membership sang "Happy Birthday" to President Jerry Tomastik whose birthday fell on the night of our December 10th meeting.

14 LODGE NO. 179, WARRENTON Dear Members and Guests: A large group of members and guests enjoyed Lodge No. 179's Christmas party at the Round Top Rifle Association Hall, December 13th. The party was preceded by a brief business session. President Harold Bergman called the meeting to order and lead the assembly in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.

All officers were present.

Jeanette Schoenst read the minutes of the previous meeting, the correspondence and Christmas cards. Then the Christmas greetings were put on display for everyone to view. Thanks to the Editor Rudy Sefcik and his family, Supreme Lodge President Nick Morris and the Staff and all the others who sent the lodge Christmas greetings.

Then Lee Leonhardt gave the treasurer's report. Both readings were accepted as given.

Sister Oltmann gave the financial standing and read the names of our new members; namely, Delton Korth, Royce Mascheck and Amanda Quade. They were given a round of applause as a warm acceptance into our organization.

We have Brother Alfred Siptak in the hospital. We wish him a speedy recovery and any others who are on the sick list.

In new business it was briefly discussed, motion made, seconded and carried to continue having our regular lodge meeting on the second Thursday of the month; youth club will meet at 7 p.m. and adults will meet at 7:30 p.m. in Warrenton Store Guest Room.

The president appointed an Auditing Committee consisting of Ronald Klump, Delphine Bergman and Randy Wied. He also re-appointed the same Food Committee for 1981 as in the previous years, composed of Sisters Tiny Ziese, Helen Leonhardt and Garda Srptak.

They then stated that, for our next regular meeting, the lodge will furnish cold cuts and members wishing to bring something may bring a cake, pie, cookies or anything they wish.

The president expressed thanks to all those who baked a turkey, ham, made the dressing, brought food or helped in any way to make this occasion a success.

He also wished one and all a very Merry Christmas and a Joyous New Year.

With no further business the meeting was adjourned.

Then the group enjoyed a very sumptuous Christmas meal consisting of baked ham, turkey and dressing; and all the numerous side dishes and desserts brought by our members, and refreshments composed of a big keg of "German Sodawater."

Afterwards the gift exchange, that took place around the beautifully decorated Yuletide tree, added a touch of joy to young and old.

In the meantime Brother Aubrey Hackemack entertained the group on his accordion by playing Christmas hymns.

Many selections were accompanied by the singing of our members. Thanks to Brother Hackemack for the entertainment.

LAST NEWS OF THE YEAR FROM LODGE NO. 88 From today, we have only eight days until Christmas and when you will read this, I don't doubt Christmas will be over and then in only one week we will be welcoming the New Year of 1981.

Saturday, December 13, we had our special Christmas dance with the one and only Glen Miller Orchestra. The evening was a sellout and the members and guests had a wonderful time dancing to the old and new tunes. The dance floor of the Chandelier Ballroom w.as full at all times with smiling couples swaying to the music. The Hosting Committee for that night were: in charge, Homer Alexander with his smiling wife, Rita, and helping with the arriving guests, John and Bessie Vasula, Bill Boyer, Martha Baxter and Millie Manack; all four ladies were beautifully dressed to fit the occasion.

Our annual meeting is in the past and Lodge No. 88 is on the way into the new year with loyal members, willing to give their ALL. We had a very nice turnout, close to 300 were present to take part in all deliberations. The December meeting convened promptly at 10 a.m.

After closing, the annual meeting followed immediately, with a break at 12 noon to enjoy a delicious dinner for be present members. At 1:30 p.m.

Sister President Mildred Holeman called the meeting to order. Annual reports were given by officers and committees. Sister Helen Hegwood accompanied by Sister Naomi Spencer, in memory of our deceased members, sang "How Great Though Art". It was so touching and brought out tears among the members. The Rules and Regulation Committee: Larry Pflughaupt, chairman with Doris Knapick presented the changes, this took quite a

while; we all know how working with rules and regulations goes.

The 1981 officers and Board of Trustees were elected as follows: Mildred Holeman, president; Larry Pflughaupt, Vice-Pres.; Frances Olexa, 2nd vice-pres.; Clara Broz, secretary; Josephine Pflughaupt, Financial-Sec'y.; Margaret Allbritton, treasurer; Joyce Myner, youth leader; Helen Hegwood, guide; Lynn Pflughaupt, flag bearer and Frank Tilich, sergeant at arms. Elected to the Board of Trustees: Bill Neskorik, Gene Barcak, Norval Crossman, Royal Warnasch, Franklin Bravanec, Steve Kelly, John Hilsher, Karl Lindemann, Willie Wehring, Tim Kostom, Johnnie Broz, Leander Pflughaupt, Mike Treffel, A. J. Stayton and Ed Kadlecek.

District V Director Louis Hanus installed the officers and the Board of Trustees members for 1981.

The meeting adjourned after nine hours of deliberation for the progress of Lodge No. 88. We all look forward to a harmonious and fruitful year.

Monday, December 15 the lodge held the annual Christmas party sponsored by the Youth Club. The Czech Concert orchestra took part under the direction of Rudy Dybala. The Choral Club, all members dressed in Czech costumes, under the direction of Tim Kostom, presented several Christmas Carols.

The youth also had a program on stage under the guidance of Mary Frances Wahlberg and her assistant, Joyce, Myner, the future youth leader for 1981.

Mary Frances all through the years did a great job and Joyce, with the help of her husband, will do the same. Santa Claus and his pretty spouse made their entrance to the joy and de ght of all the youngsters present. Coffee, punch, and cookies were served after the program and a bag of fruit and candy given each one present.

The Birthday Club Sisters held elections on the -second Wednesday in December; the results will be given by Sister Lillian Finn, the English reporter for the Birthday Sisters.

December 6 was the wedding anniversary of members Gloria and Henry Gerhart, they pledged their vows December 6, 1952, 28 years ago in the Houston Brethren Church married by Rev. Henry Beseda. They are proud of their.three children; two daughters, and one son; Glenna Gerhart registered pharmacist with the Memorial City Hospital, a graduate of the University of Houston; Peggy, married to Larry Reibenstein, works for Rotan Mosle as an accountant and her husband Larry graduated from A&M and now is an officer at Reagan Commerce Bank and

LODGE NO. 179, WARRENTON Dear Readers, Our Scrapbook Committee worked December 14th and again met December 20th to work for a little while.

The senior members enjoyed a movie at La Grange Sunday, December 14th: Craft projects were arranged to be worked on at our January meeting, January 8th at 7 p.m. These will be used for our February Valentine party and our visit to the nursing homes.

We planned going Christmas caroling; December 22nd at 5:30 p.m. leaving Round Top Church. We all spread Holiday cheer and good-will.

CZECH CLASSES TO BEGIN AT MEMORIAL . SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

Registration for the 1981 spring semester 'classes in Conversational Czech will take place between 7 and 9 p.m. January 6, 7 and -8 'at Memorial Senior High' School 935 Echo Lane Houston,' -Tx 77024.

The minutes of, the previous meeting were ' read by Secretary Sister Rosalee Kostom and they were accepted as read.

Sister Birdie Pech was reported at home with the flu so Birdie and her husband John were not able to serve and donate the wine punch for the Christmas luncheon., We wish' you `a. quick recovery.

Sister Albma Drawe is in the. Heights Hospital and Sister Shirley High has been in the hospital but she is at:home, now. May good health soon return to you good sisters.

We had 'a very, beautiful election of officers. Yod know the kind that all the good 'Ole' officers go back into office by acclamation. Therefore, our officers are: President--Sister Pearl Hanka, Vice President--Sister--Della Kadlecek, Sec. retary--Sister Rosalee 1K__ ostom, Treasurer–Sister Lillie Spies, English Reporter--Sister Lillian Finn, Czech Reporter–Sister Frances Olexa, Ticket Chairman--Sister Evelyn Mikolas; and Telephone Committee members are: Sister, Rita Alexander, chairperson; Sister Bessie Dewer, Lolean Peeples and Edna Froelich. Now, isn't that a great group of officers? The Birthday Club Sisters are proud of these officers because they have served very well.

It was indeed an honor and privilege for the Birthday Club Sisters to have as their guests for, dinner on December , 3rd, Lodge No. 88 officers and their spouses plus the Board of Trustees and their spouses. Thanks to Sister Mildred Holeman, president of Lodge No. 88, for asking the blessing. It was good to have our District V Director Brother Louis Hanus with us. Brother Hanus has always been good to the Birthday Club Sisters. Many thanks for the letters of thanks and, the words of praise for the good dinner that the committee prepared. FEATURES NEWLYWEDS AT HOME IN GRAM) PRAIRIE AFTER CHURCH WEDDING, RECEPTION, DINNER, DANCE, AT SPJST AND HONEYMOON IN CANCUN, MEXICO St. John's Catholic Church was the setting Oct. 25 for the 2 p.m. Nuptial Mass uniting in marriage Miss Denise Ann Patak and Richard Lynn Bayes.

The Rev. Lawrence Haberman, pastor of St. John's Catholic Church,performed the double ring ceremony and Nuptial Mass. Tim Carr of Dallas and Jeff Pouzar of Ennis, cousins of the bride, served as candlelighters and altar boys.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alphonse R. Patak of Ennis. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. 0. L. Marshall of Corsicana and the late Mr. Bayes. Both the bride and bridegroom are graduates of Ennis High School.

Mrs. Joanie Hykel provided the organ music for the occasion. Included were the traditional marches for the processional and recessional. Miss Allison Simpson played, "Speak Softly Love," and "Colour My World," on the flute. Mrs. Nova Salik and Ronnie Muncrief provided the singing.

Numbers included were: theme from "Romeo and Juliet," theme from "Love Story," "We've Only Just Begun," "The Rose" and "Wedding Song."

Mrs. Joe Kudrna sang "Oh Beautiful Mother," while the mothers of the bride and bridegroom were being seated.

When the bride was placing a bouquet on the altar of the Blessed Virgin Mary and kneeling before it, Mrs. Kudrna sang, "Mother At Your Feet I Am Kneeling."

The bride presented her mother a kiss and a red silk rose during the processional; and during the recessional she presented the bridegroom's mother a kiss and a red silk rose.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore an original designed gown of organza and pearled alencon lace in a candle light tone. The gown, designed with an empire bodice overlaid in pearled lace and miniature lace rosebuds, featured a Queen Anne neckline in a narrow banding of pearled alencon lace. The long tapered sleeves were accented with lace and edged with a narrow ruffle of crystal pleating at the wristline. The lovely A-line skirt veiled over taffeta, flowed softly to the back, releasing a full chapel train. The skirt

"For something old" she wore pearl earrings which belonged to her late maternal grandmother. "Something new" was her wedding gown and other attire. "Something borrowed" was an imported Belgian lace handkerchief, belonging to her sister-in-law, Susan Patak. "Something blue" was the traditional garter. In her shoe she had a penny, given to her by her father.

The matron of honor was Mrs. Jimmy Wheeler. Bridesmaids were, Mrs. Marvin Patak, sister-in-law of the bride,

Mrs. Joey Nichols, Miss Danita Patak, Mrs. Donna Bolin and Mrs. Debbie Markham.

The bride's attendants wore floor length gowns of terra-cotta qiana. The cap-sleeved jackets were crystal pleated and attached in the front. Spaghetti straps enhanced the fitted bodice. The formal skirt was an A-line design with center front inset of crystal pleats. Each wore a hair piece of silk flowers and sprig of gypsophila. The attendants' jewelry was a gold-toned pearl necklace, gift from the bride. Each attendant carried a wicker basket of silk flowers in hues of spice and terra-cotta, the bride's chosen colors.

The bridegroom's best man was Jimmy Wheeler. Groomsmen were Marvin Patak, brother of the bride; Darrell Davis, Bryan Stockton, Lance Lipscomb and Joey Nichols. Serving as ushers were Gary Zalkovsky, Robert Patak and Robert Trojacek.

The bridegroom wore an ivory Wellington tuxedo with an ivory ruffled shirt. His boutonniere was a miniature rose with stephanotis and gypsophila.

The groomsmen and ushers wore spice Wellington tuxedos with ivory ruffled shirts trimmed in terra-cotta. Each wore a silk rose boutonniere highlighted with sprigs of gypsophila.

The bride's mother, escorted by her son, wore a formal gown of aqua chiffon styled with a round neckline and low flowing sleeves. The front bodice was accented with pearls and rhinestones and the full skirt fell softly from a set-in cummerbund. Her corsage was a cattleya orchid.

The bridegroom's mother wore a formal gown of aqua chiffon featuring long sleeves and a shirt-waist style bodice. The skirt flowed softly from a belted waist. Her corsage was also a cattleya orchid. She was escorted by her son, the bridegroom.

When the guests arrived at the SPJST Lodge hall, they registered at a lace draped oblong table that held a pair of classique cherub vases containing the heart-shaped pin-ons. Centered between these vases was a custom designed hurricane globe. The globe was personalized with the honored couple's names and wedding date. This was displayed on a silver pedestal and encircled with an arrangement of tulle and silk flowers designed by Mrs. Billy Brazil. On one end of the table was a framed wedding invitation that had been designed with twilling in spice, terra-cotta and ivory colors.

A small round table nearby held the bride's book, plume pen and a decoupaged plaque, with the bride and bridegroom's engagement picture on their invitation, made by Amelia Ann's Florist. Presiding at the bride's book and the registry table were Miss Diane Bouska of Ennis, cousin of the bride, Janie Glazer and Sue Wright of Dallas.

A lace-draped gift table held a tiered crystal and silver container with tinted rice bags. Each rice bag was specially scented and accented with a miniature silk flower. The bridal portrait, on a lighted easel, and the portfolio of the bride's wedding pictures were nearby.

Presiding at this table were Molly Carr of Dallas, Angie Patak of Ennis, both cousins of the bride, and Wendy and Molly Breeland of Waco. Distributing the rice bags were Dee Ann Patak and Molly Carr.

The bride's round table in the center of the floor was covered with terra-cotta chantilly lace. On each side of the table were large white wicker baskets on stands with fresh cut flowers.

Her cake was a two-tiered confection; the tiers were separated by miniature cherubs. The cake was enhanced by bouquets of fresh flowers. Topping the

17 confection was a musical miniature ceramic bride and bridegroom surrounded by flowers. The cake was served by cousins of the bride, Miss Diane Bouska and Dorothy Finberg.

The bridegroom's table, laid with ivory organza and draped with chantilly lace, was to the right of the bride's table. It was centered with a five-candle silver candelabrum entwined with English ivy. His German chocolate cake was topped with a train engine and fresh frosted fruit. His table also held the silver punch bowl service. Serving the punch was Mrs. Sandra Lowe, cousin of the bride. Becky Griffin and Sandy Price, sisters of the bridegroom, served the cake.

The champagne table, to the left of the bride's table, was also laid with ivory organza and draped with chantilly lace. It held a lighted silver champagne fountain and was centered with a five-candle silver candelabrum entwined with English ivy. The table also held two shell-shaped silver platters of pecans and cashews. Another silver platter next to the pecans and cashews held an assortment of green and white mints. The green mints were arranged in the center of the platter to form a large "B," the initial representing the bridegroom's nickname, that was surrounded by the white mints. The servers at this table were Albin Bouska of Ennis, uncle of the bride, and A. Z. Breeland of Waco.

The head tables were arranged in a large U-shape and were laid with ivory organza and draped with chantilly lace.

A silk flower basket arrangement centered the main table with candelabra on each side. Baskets which the attendants carried were placed at the remaining tables. Boston ferns were placed on the floor in front of the main table.

A traditional Czech dinner was served to approximately 450 guests featuring barbeque, klobase, green beans, new potatoes and cole slaw. Czech pastries, kolache, strudels, pies and assorted cakes were also served.

The wedding dance began at 8 p.m.

Leading the Grand March were Michael and Sharon Kudrna. Music was by the Jody Mikula Band.

For traveling, the bride chose a three-piece quiana suit. Her accessories included a gold diamond necklace, a gift from the bridegroom; ivory shoes and clutch and an orchid corsage. The bridegroom wore for traveling a dark brown three-piece suit with a light beige shirt.

The bridegroom's parents were hosts for the rehearsal dinner at Dan's Town

House Restaurant. At this time, the honored couple exchanged gifts and presented gifts to their attendants.

The bride-elect was honored with a miscellaneous shower at the home of Mrs. Marvin Patak. Hostesses were Mrs. Susan Patak, sister-in-law of the bride-elect; Mrs. Mildred Bouska, the bride-elect's aunt, and Miss Diane Bouska, cousin of the bride-elect.

Another miscellaneous shower was held in Irving, hosted by Sue Wright. Mrs. Theresa Wheeler, the bride-elect's matron of honor, and the attendants honored her with a personal shower.

Other prenuptial social courtesies included a brunch in the lovely new home of Mrs. Marvin Patak. A luncheon plate, consisting of fresh fruit salad with poppy seed dressing, a ham-cheese quiche and Danish rolls, was served.

Fresh orange juice and coffee accompanied the luncheon.

Bridesmaids and friends hosted a bachelorette party for the bride-elect at the Belle Star Club in Dallas.

The groomsmen and friends hosted a stag party for the bridegroom-to-be.

On the morning of the wedding, the bride-elect and her mother were honored with a breakfast given in the home of her aunt, Mrs. Mildred Bouska.

MTH SECTION From The Lodge Youth Leaders LODGE NO. 24, CYCLONE SPJST Lodge No. 24 Cyclone had their Christmas program, Sunday, December 14, with the youth club.

Kelli Andel will be the youth leader for Lodge No. 24 during 1981; she is the daughter of Norma Andel of Temple and Kenneth Andel of Belton.

Beverly Marek is the new youth club president and she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin F. Marek of Cameron.

The lamps they are holding in the accompanying picture of my article, were made by the members of the club from various household items.

Centered between these vases was a custom designed hurricane globe. The globe was personalized with the honored couple's names and wedding date. This was displayed on a silver pedestal and encircled with an arrangement of tulle and silk flowers designed by Mrs. Billy Brazil. On one end of the table was a framed wedding invitation that had been designed with twilling in spice, terra-cotta and ivory colors.

A small round table nearby held the bride's book, plume pen and a decoupaged plaque, with the bride and bridegroom's engagement picture on their invitation, made by Amelia Ann's Florist. Presiding at the bride's book and the registry table were Miss Diane Bouska of Ennis, cousin of the bride, Janie Glazer and Sue Wright of Dallas.

A lace-draped gift table held a tiered crystal and silver container with tinted rice bags. Each rice bag was specially scented and accented with a miniature silk flower. The bridal portrait, on a lighted easel, and the portfolio of the bride's wedding pictures were nearby.

Presiding at this table were Molly Carr of Dallas, Angie Patak of Ennis, both cousins of the bride, and Wendy and Molly Breeland of Waco. Distributing the rice bags were Dee Ann Patak and Molly Carr.

The bride's round table in the center of the floor was covered with terra-cotta chantilly lace. On each side of the table were large white wicker baskets on stands with fresh cut flowers.

Her cake was a two-tiered confection; the tiers were separated by miniature cherubs. The cake was enhanced by bouquets of fresh flowers. Topping the

17 confection was a musical miniature ceramic bride and bridegroom surrounded by flowers. The cake was served by cousins of the bride, Miss Diane I3ouska and Dorothy Finberg.

The bridegroom's table, laid with ivory organza and draped with chantilly lace, was to the right of the bride's table. It was centered with a five-candle silver candelabrum entwined with English ivy. His German chocolate cake was topped with a train engine and fresh frosted fruit. His table also held the silver punch bowl service. Serving the putIch was Mrs. Sandra Lowe, cousin of the bride. Becky Griffin and Sandy Price, sisters of the bridegroom, served the cake.

The champagne table, to the left of the bride's table, was also laid with ivory organza and draped with chantilly lace. It held a lighted silver champagne fountain and was centered with a five-candle silver candelabrum entwined with English ivy. The table also held two shell-shaped silver platters of pecans and cashews. Another silver platter next to the pecans and cashews held an assortment of green and white mints. The green mints were arranged in the center of the platter to form a large "B," the initial representing the bridegroom's nickname, that was surrounded by the white mints. The servers at this table were Albin Bouska of Ennis, uncle of the bride, and A. Z. Breeland of Waco.

The head tables were arranged in a large U-shape and were laid with ivory organza and draped with chantilly lace.

A silk flower basket arrangement centered the main table with candelabra on each side. Baskets which the attendants carried were placed at the remaining tables. Boston ferns were placed on the floor in front of the main table.

A traditional Czech dinner was served to approximately 450 guests featuring barbeque, klobase, green beans, new potatoes and cole slaw. Czech pastries, kolache, strudels, pies and assorted cakes were also served.

The wedding dance began at 8 p.m.

Leading the Grand March were Michael and Sharon Kudrna. Music was by the Jody Mikula Band.

For traveling, the bride chose a three-piece quiana suit. Her accessories included a gold diamond necklace, a gift from the bridegroom; ivory shoes and clutch and an orchid corsage. The bridegroom wore for traveling a dark brown three-piece suit with a light beige shirt.

The bridegroom's parents were hosts for the rehearsal dinner at Dan's Town

House Restaurant. At this time, the honored couple exchanged gifts and presented gifts to their attendants.

The bride-elect was honored with a miscellaneous shower at the home of Mrs. Marvin Patak. Hostesses were Mrs. Susan Patak, sister-in-law of the bride-elect; Mrs. Mildred Bouska, the bride-elect's aunt, and Miss Diane Bouska, cousin of the bride-elect.

Another miscellaneous shower was held in Irving, hosted by Sue Wright. Mrs. Theresa Wheeler, the bride-elect's matron of honor, and the attendants honored her with a personal shower.

Other prenuptial social courtesies included a brunch in the lovely new home of Mrs. Marvin Patak. A luncheon plate, consisting of fresh fruit salad with poppy seed dressing, a ham-cheese quiche and Danish rolls, was served.

Fresh orange juice and coffee accompanied the luncheon.

Bridesmaids and friends hosted a bachelorette party for the bride-elect at the Belle Star Club in Dallas.

The groomsmen and friends hosted a stag party for the bridegroom-to-be.

On the morning of the wedding, the bride-elect and her mother were honored with a breakfast given in the home of her aunt, Mrs. Mildred Bouska.

Kelli Andel will be the youth leader for Lodge No. 24 during 1981; she is the daughter of Norma Andel of Temple and Kenneth Andel of Belton.

Beverly Marek is the new youth club president and she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin F. Marek of Cameron.

We then discussed old and new business topics. We also played games and sang a song.

We had a program in which members recited poems and received prizes for our Christmas contest.

Dear Readers, The regular business meeting of Youth Club No. 179, Warrenton, was held in conjunction with our Christmas party Saturday, December 13 at •the Round Top Rifle Association Hall; ,only one %member was absent.

Following the regular meeting proceedings and reports on the movie "Zanadu", the senior members decided 65- attend their movie Sunday, December 14th at La Grange.

Jeanette Schoenst had the new scrapbook and pictures were taken accordingly.

14 LODGE NO. 179, WARRENTON Dear Members and Guests: A large group of members and guests enjoyed Lodge No. 179's Christmas party at the Round Top Rifle Association Hall, December 13th. The party was preceded by a brief business session. President Harold Bergman called the meeting to order and lead the assembly in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.

All officers were present.

Jeanette Schoenst read the minutes of the previous meeting, the correspondence and Christmas cards. Then the Christmas greetings were put on display for everyone to view. Thanks to the Editor Rudy Sefcik and his family, Supreme Lodge President Nick Morris and the Staff and all the others who sent the lodge Christmas greetings.

Then Lee Leonhardt gave the treasurer's report. Both readings were accepted as given.

Sister Oltmann gave the financial standing and read the names of our new members; namely, Delton Korth, Royce Mascheck and Amanda Quade. They were given a round of applause as a warm acceptance into our organization.

We have Brother Alfred Siptak in the hospital. We wish him a speedy recovery and any others who are on the sick list.

In new business it was briefly discussed, motion made, seconded and carried to continue having our regular lodge meeting on the second Thursday of the month; youth club will meet at 7 p.m. and adults will meet at 7:30 p.m. in Warrenton Store Guest Room.

The president appointed an Auditing Committee consisting of Ronald Klump, Delphine Bergman and Randy Wied. He also re-appointed the same Food Committee for 1981 as in the previous years, composed of Sisters Tiny Ziese, Helen Leonhardt and Garda. Siptak.

They then stated that, for our next regular meeting, the lodge will furnish cold cuts and members wishing to bring something may bring a cake, pie, cookies or anything they wish.

The president expressed thanks to all those who baked .a turkey, ham, made the dressing, brought food or helped in any way to make this occasion a success.

He also wished one and all a very Merry Christmas and a Joyous New Year.

With no further business the meeting was adjourned.

Then the group enjoyed a very sumptuous Christmas meal consisting of baked ham, turkey and dressing; and all the numerous side dishes and desserts brought by our members, and refreshments composed of a big keg of "German Sodawater."

Afterwards the gift exchange, that took place around the beautifully decorated Yuletide tree, added a touch of joy to young and old.

In the meantime Brother Aubrey Hackemack entertained the group on his accordion by playing Christmas hymns.

Many selections were accompanied by the singing of our members. Thanks to Brother Hackernack for the entertainment.

The next regular meeting will be January 8th at 7 p.m. for youth club and adults at 7:30 p.m. in Warrenton Store Guest Room.

FROM LODGE NO. 88 From today, we have only eight days until Christmas and when you will read this, I don't doubt Christmas will be over and then in only one week we will be welcoming the New Year of 1981.

Saturday, December 13; we had our special Christmas dance with the one and only Glen Miller Orchestra. The evening was a sellout and the members and guests had a wonderful time dancing to the old and new tunes. The dance floor of the Chandelier Ballroom was full at all times with smiling couples swaying to the music. The Hosting Committee for that night were: in charge, Homer Alexander with his smiling wife, Rita, and helping with the arriving guests, John and Bessie Vasula, Bill Boyer, Martha Baxter and Millie Manack; all four ladies were beautifully dressed to fit the occasion.

Our annual meeting is in the past and Lodge No. 88 is on the way into the new year with loyal members, willing to give their ALL. We had a very nice turnout, close to 300 were present to take part in all deliberations. The December meeting convened promptly at 10 a.m.

(After closing, the annual meeting followed immediately, with a break at 12 noon to enjoy a delicious dinner for The present members. At 1:30 p.m.

Sister President Mildred Holeman called the meeting to order. Annual reports were given by officers and committees. Sister Helen Hegwood accompanied by Sister Naomi Spencer, in memory of our deceased members, sang "How Great Though Art". It was so touching and brought out tears among the members. The Rules and Regulation Committee: Larry Pflughaupt, chairman with Doris Knapick presented the changes, this took quite a

while; we all know how working with rules and regulations goes.

The 1981 officers and Board of Trustees were elected as follows: Mildred Holeman, president; Larry Pflughaupt, Vice-Pres.; Frances Olexa, 2nd vice-pres.; Clara Broz, secretary; Josephine Pflughaupt, Financial-Sec'y.; Margaret Allbritton, treasurer; Joyce Myner, youth leader; Helen Hegwood, guide; Lynn Pflughaupt, flag bearer and Frank Tilich, sergeant at arms. Elected to the Board of Trustees: Bill Neskorik, Gene Barcak, Norval Crossman, Royal Warnasch, Franklin Bravanec, Steve Kelly, John Hilsher, Karl Lindemann, Willie Wehring, Tim Kostom, Johnnie Broz, Leander Pflughaupt, Mike Treffel, A. J. Stayton and Ed Kadlecek.

District V Director Louis Hanus installed the officers and the Board of Trustees members for 1981.

The meeting adjourned after nine hours of deliberation for the progress of Lodge No. 88. We all look forward to a harmonious and fruitful year.

Monday, December 15 the lodge held the annual Christmas party sponsored by the Youth Club. The Czech Concert orchestra took part under the direction of Rudy Dybala. The Choral Club, all members dressed in Czech costumes, under the direction of Tim Kostom, presented several Christmas Carols.

The youth also had a program on stage under the guidance of Mary Frances Wahlberg and her assistant, Joyce, Myner, the future youth leader for 1981.

Mary Frances all through the years did a great job and Joyce, with the help of her husband, will do the same. Santa Claus and his pretty spouse made their entrance to the joy and de ght of all the youngsters present. Coffee, punch, and cookies were served after the program and a bag of fruit and candy given each one present.

The Birthday Club Sisters held elections on the second Wednesday in December; the results will be given by Sister Lillian Finn, the English reporter for the Birthday Sisters.

December 6 was the wedding anniversary of members Gloria and Henry Gerhart, they pledged their vows December 6, 1952, 28 years ago in the Houston Brethren Church married by Rev. Henry Beseda. They are proud of their-three children; two daughters, and one son: Glenna Gerhart registered pharmacist with the Memorial City Hospital, a graduate of the University of Houston; Peggy, married to Larry Reibenstein, works for Rotan Mosle as an accountant and her husband Larry graduated from A&M and now is an officer at Reagan Commerce Bank and • '...4"3,4,

EXPRESSION OF SYMPATHY EXPRESSION OF SYMPATHY We, the Resolution Committee of Lodge No. 35, Elk, in behalf of our entire membership, wish to express our heartfelt sympathy to the surviving relatives of our departed lodge brother FERDINAND (FERDA) MACH, of Elk and Mart, Texas, who died in a Marlin Nursing Home on December 2nd at the age of 86.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, December 4th, at 2 p.m. from the Littlepage Funeral Home in Mart, with SL President Nick A. Morris officiating on behalf of the SPJST. Burial followed in the Pavelka SPJST No. 35 Cemetery and Bro. Morris conducted brief graveside services there.

Fred, as Bro. Mach was known for so many years to his friends and neighbors, was born near Prague in what is now Czechoslovakia on August 4th, 1894, one of the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Frank and Theresa (Cinek) Mach. He came with his parents to the USA and Texas at.the age of 7. The family settled, for a short time near West and then moved to the Elk-Mart communities where Fred lived the rest of his life. He was engaged in farming until his retirement a few years ago. He was a veteran of WW1. He had been in a Mart rest home since 1969, having been transferred more recently to a Marlin nursing home where he succumbed. He never married. He was preceded in death by his parents a number of years ago and by his brothers Adolf, Frank and Joe. Surviving him are eighteen nieces and nephews.

Brother Mach joined Lodge 35, Elk February 6, 1916, at the age of 22 and had been a member of our lodge since that time, a total of sixty-four years. The SPJST Society and Lodge 35 were always near and dear to his heart and he was active in it until his advanced age prevented hint from doing so. He played a major role in contributing, financially and otherwise, toward the re-building and the several remodelings of the lodge hall. He was well-liked and respected by his fellow lodge members.

We, the Resolution Committee of Lodge Pokrok Dallas No. 84, in behalf of our entire membership, wish to express our sincere sympathy to the bereaved family of our departed brother FRANKJ.HENZEN, who passed away November 27, 1980, at the age of 64.

Brother Henzen was born in Waco, Texas and moved to Dallas in early infancy. He was a retired claims coordinator for Sears Roebuck and Co. Due to Brother Henzen's love for music, he was a director of the choir at St. Joseph's Catholic Church for 15 years, director of St, Phillip's Chair about 5 years, a charter member of the Dallas Czech Concert Orchestra, and he helped organize the. Choral Group of Lodge No. 84. He also was the Lodge No 84 secretary for 15 years.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Henzen of Dallas; one daughter, Sharon Hill, of Mesquite; three sons, Ronnie Henzen of Baton Rouge,• La„ Allen Henzen of Garland and Michael Henzen of Denton, Texas; his mother, Hattie Henzen Ham'usek of Dallas; two 'granddaughters; and one grandson.

Rosary was recited November 29 at the Jerome J. Crane Funeral Chapel.

Funeral Mass was held November 30 at St. Phillip's Catholic Church with celebrants Rev. Edward P. Fernandez and Brother Henzen's cousin, Father Lawrence Stuebben of San Antonio.

Pallbearers were Leo Trojacek, Henry Cechan, Otto Janousek, Joe Vik, Ronnie Cechan and Donnie Cechan.

EXPRESSION OF SYMPATHY We, the undersigned Resolution Committee, in behalf of our membership of Lodge No. 79, Corpus Christi, Texas, wish to express our heartfelt sympathy to the family of our departed lodge brother LOUIS ALOLS SACKY:, age 74, of 4921 Kostoryz Road, who died at 9:40 p.m. Wednesday, December 10, 1980 in a local hospital after an extended illness.

Brother Sacky was a native of Brigman, Texas and had resided in Corpus Christi for 32 years, before his retirement in 1970. He was owner/manager of Yellowjacket Drive Inn on Ayers Street for 21 years. He was also a financial secretary, for many years, for Lodge No. 133 in San Antonio before he moved to Corpus Christi. He was a member of Saint Cyril-Methodius Catholic Church, and a member of the SPJST. Rosary was recited at 8 p.m.

Thursday at Maxwell P. Dunne Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Friday, at Saint Cyril-Methodius Catholic Church with Rev. George Harris as celebrant. Interment followed at Seaside Memorial Park. Maxwell P. Dunne Funeral Home was in charge of the services.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Helen Sacky of Corpus Christi; two sons, Louis A. Sacky III of Corpus Christi and Rev. George Harris of McAllen; one. sister, Mrs. Louie Malek; one brother, Frank C. Sacky, both of Corpus Christi; and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Frank L Sacky, Robert Malek, Gus Sacky, Jr., Page Sacky, Phil Cemperlic, Henry Tiemann, Sr., Eugene Vrana and Robert Dobecka.

The Hungerford SPJST Lodge No. 58, held their annual meeting and Christmas party, Sunday, December 14 at the Hungerford Hall.

Kolikrat ui jsme si slibovali, ze to pfigti rok udelame jinak. Vidye je to plane sentimentalita, ktere se moderni Clovek nesmi poddavat! Kikame si: tento rok nedovolim si toho tak hodne jako dfiv...Ale jaksi to nikdy nevyjde. Bliii vanoce a neco nas uchopi za srdce, a najednou zatouiime mit vgechno pfesne tak, jako doma. Detem, otvirame pomoci magickeho kouzla vanoenich tradic svet duchovniho spoleCenstvi, jehoi elankem se tak stavaji; rodinna tradice splyne v jejich podvedomi s tradici narodni a stane se symbolem vgeho krasneho a cenneho, co je hodne uchovani.

Just as this report was being written a call came telling of the death early this morning of one of our dearest long-time members, Sister Helen Zich. She was a faithful member in the past and spent many hours helping the lodge until age and infirmity forced her to retire. Her son, Carl, was president of Lodge No 92 many years and we regret also to learn that he lvv as taken to the hospital during the ight but the nature of his illness is not yet known. We offer our aid to our Secretary Christine, daughter-in-law of Helen, and wife of Carl.

I'll use the last few lines to tell you all that my wish for you is for a healthy, happy and blessed Christmas. I've enjoyed writing for you the past few years and appreciate all your calls and bits of information. I especially thank our patient editor and his gracious wife and even the long-suffering typesetter.

Hope I've brought just a little cheer to someone, someplace, sometime and I wish good look to my successor.

LODGE NO. 92, FT. WORTH Dear Members and Friends; It's almost incredible how quickly these past eleven months have made history of 1980; but there's no doubt about it, it's Christmas, the blessed and sentimental season that imparts its spirit despite all the commercialism and disrespect it sometimes has to withstand. Our Christmas party and religious program by the children will be over when this is printed but, at this time, we are all looking forward to it.

The December meeting was spent for the main part on the election of officers for 1981. The results: President, Albert Kubala; Vice President, Kenneth Krivanek; Secretary, Christine Zich; Treasurer, John Murphy; Financial Secretary, Evelyn Spacek; Flagbearer, Stacey Hubenak; Youth Leader, Gordon Hubenak and Assistant Youth Leader, Cheryl Hubenak.

The Trustees Board will include: Frank Tesar, John Paprskar, John Murphy, Al Svacek and Albert Kubala.

Martha Durham, of the Sunshine Committee, reported that the Rev. Wm. Botik was in the hospital in Dallas.

Others who spent a few days there also were Max Singer, Felix Bunker and Richard Hubenak. Some members who required surgery during their hospital

stay were Joyce Whatly, Janelie Tatarevitch and Carl Zich. We were also concerned about the fact that Sid Pokladnik was ill and hope that he and all of the above-mentioned are now doing fine.

Congratulations to the Bill Lesikars on the occasion of their fiftieth anniversary and to the Bobby Phillips on their 25th.

Roy and Lydia Alholm were recipients of news of a delightful nature. Their son Anthony has been associated with a prominent law firm in Chicago for four years and has now been accepted as a partner in the firm. He and his family reside in Glen Ellyn and Tony commutes daily to his business. The Alholms' other son R. L. is a math instructor at Trimble Tech in Fort Worth.

Robert and Minnie Ruzicka are looking forward to Christmas guests.

Their daughter Gladys and husband Lonnie Burkhalter will be here before leaving soon for Germany where he will be stationed with the Army for a while; also son Calvin, his wife Ranelle and children will be home from New York.

Remember the last dance of the year, New Year's Eve starts at 8 p.m.

Reservations will be held only until 9 o'clock.

Dear Members and Guests: We had Larry Stanley and the Brand New Day come to our lodge for the first time; they did a good job entertaining our dancing fans. In fact, I heard comments that they are the best we've ever had. I think many of you, who didn't come and attend, missed out on good entertainment.

Brother Ray Michka passed away after a long illness. He really enjoyed the lodge very much. In fact, he danced three days prior to his death, at the age of 82 years.

He really will be missed by all who knew him.

All the officers were re-elected to carry on the job that has the major responsibilities in caring for the lodge.

Sister Dorothy Smith has been selected to be one of the trustee members on the board in place of Brother Jeff Moore, who had to be relieved because of the load he has serving as our second vice . president.

The New Year's Eve dance admission for members will be $5 per person and for non-members $7 per person. We are looking forward to a good turnout.

Get-well soon, Brother Sid! Sister Betty and her husband Donald Norman were honored at a lovely wedding reception and shower Sunday, December 7th.

All of our officers were re-elected for 1981. They are: President--Jerry Milan, Vice President--Don Steinman, Secretary-Financial and Secretary--Mary Renfro, Treasurer--Mary Hale, Youth Leader--Carolyn Clevland, Reporter--Mary Pavey.

Auditing Committee members are: Don Steinman, Anna Johnson and Jeanie Mason.

Culture Society representatives are: Frank Kovar and Merle Bailey.

Success and best wishes to all of you for the coming year.

Sister Carolyn Clevland gave a report on the youth club and their activities. They have done well on the sale of their cookbooks. A new shipment has-arrived and they make nice Christmas gifts.

The youth club supplied us with delicious sandwiches and chips. Sister JOhnson baked a special cake for them and I baked the cookies. Everyone enjoyed the party.

Sister Rose Steinman was our door prize recipient and she, in turn, gave it to the youth club.

This is almost the end of a very busy year and thanks are extended to all who have worked so hard to make our last live and one-half years so successful; many hours have been donated and without you, it could not be done. God Bless you all!

In lieu of Christmas cards to their Fort Worth friends, Brother Henry and Sister Ann Banfi of Chicago donated $10 to the Building Fund.

We extend our congratulations to Brother Roy E. Cox.who is now a partner with Rylander, Clay and Opitz Certified Public Accountants and to Brother John Naughton who was elected mayor of Cicero, Illinois.

We also extend our congratulations to Sister Linda and Brother Clinton Heinrich on the arrival of their son. The proud grandparents are Brother Albert and Sister Martha Boenisch.

We extend the Season's Greetings to all the SPJST families and, most of all, a healthy new year.

We had a very nice turnout at our December meeting.

Vernon Prichard is our new member and we are happy to have her with us.

We sang "Happy Birthday" for our October members, Mary Saldana, Frank Tesar, Louise Oujesky, and Al Kercho. November birthday celebrant is Jennie Kroll, and December celebrants are: Lad Maly, John Zubb, Mary Kubala, Otto Kurtz, and Marie Tesar.

We wish all of them many more birthdays to come.

After our meeting Santa Claus, Mary Saldana; passed out the gifts and then a delicious meal was enjoyed by everyone, followed by games.

If it is icy, or raining and cold we will not have a meeting in January. If it is cold but dry we will have a meeting.

I enjoyed being secretary and reporter this year, but I know that Lydia Alholm will do a great job.

I would like to thank Editor Rudy Sefcik for always being so prompt in getting our articles printed; he is doing a great job.

We express our sympathy to our Vice President Bernadette Svacina and her husband, Frank. Frank's mother passed away December 9th. She lived at St. Francis Village.

6 At the end of the meeting there were several drawings for door prizes. The usual door prize was won by Sister Alene Kortis. There were four additional door prizes, in form of gifts, two for the women and two for the men, donated by Sisters Luquette and Nezval. Sister Alene Kortis, again was lucky, won the first prize and the second prize was won by Sister Lydia Sperlik.

Brother Frank Brdecka won the first prize of the two men's prizes and Brother Anton Kelner, Jr. won the second prize.

The "Kaffee Klatsch," after the meeting, was a success with the lodge furnishing the "klobase" and liquid refreshments. Sisters Sperlik, Haverda, Sabrusula, Foytik, Kortis, Brdecka, Valigura, Luquette and Nezval furnished the trimmings to finish the meal. As always, there was enough and more for everyone partaking.

Since "tis the season to be jolly", we wish to pass the following greetings to all: "May your Christmas be Merry and your New Year be Happy, Prosperous, Healthy and Safe."

While Sister Willie Mae Kuykendal led the group in singing Christmas carols, `ole' Santa appeared on the scene to the delight of the little ones. He was very generous and handed out bags of fruit, nuts and candy to everyone present; after his departure everyone enjoyed a delicious covered dish supper.

SPJST Lodge No. 81 met December 14 at 2 p.m. with President Charlie Matcek presiding. The meeting was called to order and the Pledge of Allegiance to our flag was led by Sister Vlasta Nowotny; all remained standing as a tribute to our deceased member, Brother Ed Macha. Our sympathy goes to his wife and their son and his family.

All officers answered the roll call.

Secretary Mary Werner read the minutes which were approved as read.

She also read several holiday greetings and a card of thanks from Mr. Harvey Marx, administrator of the S.P.J.S.T. Rest Home No. 2 in Needville, for the fruit our lodge brought to the residents of the home.

Financial report was given by Aleene Zwahr. Willie Mae Kuykendal gave the treasurer's report. A good report was given by the Special Fund Treasurer Gilbert Walzel. All of the above reports were accepted as given.

Sister Vlasta Holt is reported very ill

Dear Members: Our monthly meeting was held Sunday afternoon, December 14th. President B.J. Hlavaty called the meeting to order and Karen Hlavaty led the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.

All officers were present for roll call.

Secretary Patricia Sill read the minutes from our previous meeting and reports were given by Treasurer Inez Greenlees and Financial Secretary Daniel Roznovsky. All were approved as read. Our secretary acknowledged the Christmas Greetings received from Editor Rudy Sefcik and his family. We appreciate his kind words.

Business discussed included hall activities, bar and kitchen help and the naming of chairpersons for hall activities.

It was suggested the lodge buy a turkey for a needy family during the Holiday Season. Inez Greenlees will be in charge of this project.

LODGE NO. 18, ELGIN Dear Members and Friends: Our monthly meeting was held December 16th with Lodge 18 President Leslie Gustafson leading the Pledge of Allegiance. All reports by officers and chairmen were accepted and approved as read.

New Year's Eve tickets are on sale at $7.50 per person and can be purchased at our lodge ticket office on Wednesday nights from 7 to 9 or by writing to Judy Prinz, P.O. Box 55, Elgin, Texas 78621.

Due to the number of cafeterias now open in the Elgin area, the lodge members have decided to not serve breakfast this year.

Our lodge Christmas party was held Sunday, December 21 from 3 to 6 p.m. and lodge members brought light refreshments.

There are two things you can always use more of -during the holiday season: time and great new ways to use leftover turkey. Here's a recipe that helps in both ways. It is a poultry and potato main dish that's as easy to make as it is delicious to eat. You can even use carrots and Cheddar cheese that were left from the hors d'oeuvre tray.

The time-savings come from using Potato Buds® instant mashed potatoes, which eliminate the peeling, cooking and mashing of potatoes. In fact, during this rushed season, it's a good idea to keep instant mashed potatoes on the shelf to use in casseroles like this one or to serve in the traditional manner with meat.

Potato Puff Dinner Potato Buds mashed potatoes (enough for 4 servings) 1 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese (about 4 ounces) 1 cup diced cooked turkey or chicken 1 cup shredded carrots (2.or.,3) 2 teaspoOns snipped chives Pinch of dried rosemary leaves, crushed 3 egg yOlks, slightly beaten 3 egg whites 1/2 teaspoon salt Heat oven to 350°. Butter 2-quart round casserole. Prepare mashed potatoes as directed on package for 4 servings. Stir in cheese, turkey, carrots, chives, rosemary and egg `yolks. Beat egg whites and salt until soft peaks form; fold into potato mixture.

Pour into casserole; place casserole In pan of hot water (1 inch deep). Bake until golden brown and puffed, 50 to 60 minutes. 4 or 5 servings.

We added 2 new sales representatives to our District V; they are Sister Lorine Wiley from Lodge 91 and Brother Lonnie L. Lostak from Lodge 139; we all, in District V, wish you much success in your insurance selling. Hoping you will not want to leave your name off our sales representatives' list. We have many sales, representatives who have not made a sale. Hope you will kindly sell someone, because, at this time of the year, people are shopping for what to give people for a gift. What a nice gift someone could give to someone; a policy of their choice.

District V is still short in meeting their quota. I want all of you to help us reach our goal. This is very'important for District V to meet their quota. We have 59 sales representatives and if everyone

of you would write an applicant for $10,000, we would reach the quota that was set for us by the Supreme Lodge.

Christmas time is doing something for someone. How many of you thought of giving something to someone in need of insurance? Or at least helping them to have a plan of their own that they can afford? They would appreciate your kind help, also all the grandparents want to do something for their grandchildren and buying an insurance plan for them would be a wonderful gift at Christmas time.

The sales representatives all deserve a hand of fraternalism for the work they are achieving for their lodges. The SPJST was founded on these tenets and a lot of members are not trying to live up to our standard of Fraternalism, Benevolence, Humanity and Brotherhood; we all need to work closer together and make our Society grow for without sales we will not grow!

It will come out in tabloid format of 16 pages which will be the same amount of space as the present 32 pages and probably a little more space for type, because we will not have that extra fold.
