FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK Saturday, October 4 your editor attended the Fall Publication Committee meeting at our SL and they had a good, productive meeting; present also were SL Legal Advisor Lesikar and Mr. Larry Ingram of Stillhouse Hollow Publishers who will be publishing the SPJST Vestnik after January 1, 1981. The Vestnik will be a 16-page tabloid and we will publish more details later for you, our members and readers. We feel that you will be pleased with the new format. ** * Wednesday, October 15 we visited the quarterly October SL meeting and met with the SL Executive Body. Much of the information for all will be in SL Secretary-Treasurer Mikeska's Excerpts of the SL minutes when they are published. As time goes on, this writer will publish, more of the details pertaining to the Vestnik for your information as they are finalized. While at the PC meeting, the PC members were in agreement that, as soon as the Proceedings of The Convention are completely finalized by the four secretaries, we can begin to publish them as space permits; we will endeavor to do so, as soon as we get them. *** Remember that District VII has a district meeting at Lodge No. 79 Corpus Christi Sunday, October 26th and there

Kindness is a language the deaf can hear and the blind can see. ** Temper is what gets most of us into trouble, pride is what keeps us there. *** The honeymoon is over when you discover that your "pet lamb" is really a little bossy. is an entertaining Czech Day at Lodge No. 88, Houston the same date. away thinking: "Let someone else do it," and some fearing that for lack of experience they could not qualify, also avoid the meeting. How can any member take this so, lightly? What if our pioneers would have felt that way, about our SPJST? Now is the time for you younger members of the SPJST to prove this by answering the call by attending when the next Nominating Committee meeting is held: then, we older ones with a grateful feeling within our hearts can again joyfully say: "Work Well Done!"
Speaking of good advice is when the membership realizes that action and not mere words must be the aftermath of any decision, the officers can expect support and cooperation, and, through this collective action, will be able to plan into the future. Despite many obstacles, our predecessors persevered. Can we repeat the accomplishments of the past more-thaneighty-three years? Is our faith strong enough to encourage support and cooperation for an organized effort to rejuvenate many of our activities? It is vitally essential that our leaders implement their plans with effective action in order to secure and maintain the faith and support of the membership. The officer who does nothing cannot hope to attract the interest and support
