LODGE NO. 80, HOLLAND Dear Members: Lodge No. 80 held its regular monthly meeting Sunday afternoon, June 1st. The meeting was called to order at 2 p.m. with President Bohac presiding and with twenty-one members present. All were asked to rise and recite the pledge of allegiance to our United States flag. Roll call of officers showed Treasurer Brother Latham was absent. Reading of the minutes from the May meeting by Brother Alvin Martinets, the lodge secretary, were adopted as read. The president thanked all the members, who helped clean up at the hall before and at the May Celebration. Well, the XXIII Convention is history. Only three delegates represented our lodge. We were eligible to send five. D.I. Bohac, Glen Latham and Joe Barabas represented our lodge. Clifton Martinets was elected as one of the delegates but, due to illness, could not go. The convention was a success in many ways. It was carried out in a democratic way as it should be, so, for the next four years, as loyal members, we will abide by the by-laws that were adopted by the XXIII Convention. Our July meeting will be held on the second Sunday in July which is on the 13th. Door prizes at the June meeting were won by Eddie Kunz, Louise Ivicic and Clifton Martinets. Keep out of this terrible heat and stay cool. Fraternally, Joe Barabas, Jr. Reporter and Honorary President -SPJSTLODGE NO. 79, CORPUS CHRISTI Dear Members: Just a reminder that our next regular meeting will be held July 10th at 7 p.m. Please try and be there.
Fraternally, Jerry L. Elzner Reporter SPJSTLODGE NO. 84, DALLAS Dear Members: We have set July 23rd on a Wednesday at 5 p.m. to clean up all the parking lot grounds. Please bring your gloves, rakes, lawn mower, shovels and maybe a large paper box for the trash. We will need a large group, so we hope you will make plans to come anytime after 5 p.m.; your help will be appreciated. This cleanup is in preparation for the Lodge No. 84 Picnic to be held here at the hall on July 27th with doors opening at 11 a.m. We hope all of our members and friends come out, and enjoy this day. There will be good food, cold beer and soft drinks, games and all in air-conditioned comfort. Fraternally, House Committee: Adolph Salac C.J. Olson Ron Coker -SPJSTDISTRICT II REPORT Dear Readers: I hope, by the time this letter is published, our hot Texas weather will have cooled down. Here in Central Texas we are baking; as I know everywhere else in Texas, it is hot. I will keep my fingers crossed for a cloud or two. The convention is history now; I was proud to be a part of it. We elected some good people to represent our district on the committees. In our district each lodge had at least one delegate at the convention. July 13th, District II will have its Youth Achievement Day at the SPJST Lodge No. 24, Cyclone. Registration will be from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. The talent lineup and craft judging will begin at 2:10p.m. Around 5 p.m., there will be a one-hour supper break. After supper the royalty competition will begin. There will be six young ladies trying for queen; and three young men trying for king. The program should be over at 7:45 p.m.
