FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK There was no question about it, there would be some mistakes in the last issue due to the time and space limitations, however, they were few and, remember, a mistake can always be corrected if the, spirit, desire and honesty are present. Number one. In the last issue (April 9) on page 9, in SL Financial Secretary Jerry Mikulas' report under Schedule "A" - Income: the first line: Commissions to Sale Rep. - Renewal etc. was left there by error and please disregard it. Otherwise the report seems to be correct. Number two: On page 3, center column, in President Morris' report, was a typographical error sent to us and in Lodges Disbanded and Merged, the third sentence read: Lodge 28, Mart and, of course, should have read: Lodge 128, Mart. There are, very probably, more errors and we certainly wish to correct them when our attention is called to them.
*** In this current issue we are printing the remainder of the reports of the By-Law Committee and recommendations of the various lodges and members as space permits. We are not crossing out the old articles in the remainder of the By-Law Committee in the same way we did in the last issue; your editor feels that it does not help our members that much and it really makes the Vestnik look worse. Surely, with all the effort the typesetters, my wife and I have taken, the changes
VALUE OF A SMILE A smile is such a funny thing, it wrinkles up your face, and when it's gone, you have to find its secret hiding place. But far more wonderful it is to see what smiles can do; you smile at one, he smiles at you, and so, one smile makes two. And since a smile can do so much by cheering hearts of care, let's smile a lot this whole year through, such smiles go everywhere! can be understood. If there is any questions, whatsoever, your editor has the original changes in a xeroxed form and will be glad to refer to them for authenticity. We will help you with any questions, because, this is very important to our Society especially for the next four (4) years. * ** Your editor wishes to apologize for not being able to print some of the Letters, Announcements, Features, etc., however, all of it will appear in print as soon as we have space. Our delegates are advised to read everything in the recommendations of all lodges and committees carefully. We are cutting our Czech Section short, also, for a short time. *** We are reprinting the report, pertaining to the members In need of assistance
from our SPJST Society as reported for the Finance Committee by Secretary Rita Vanek as it appeared in the March 5th issue. Please read it and act accordingly. The deadline is May 10, 1980!
Recently, at District V's meeting, yours truly discussed the subject of a youth camp for our SPJST Society; all delegates are advised to do some serious thinking about this - ie, the advisability, cost, etc. of same. Your editor feels certain it will be brought up at the convention. Think about it. Our convention copy is coming in too, too slowly! Please send your articles for that issue as soon as possible.
It is commendable to have ambition, but not the o'ervaulting kind of which Shakespeare spoke. Do not set your goal so high as to discourage yourself when trying to achieve it. Those who hitch their wagon to a star seldom get off the ground, but, instead, bump along the ground while being dragged. Your good intentions, your resolution to succeed in a big way can be stretched to the limit and will snap when trying to make the long jump. Take it easy. One step at a time will get you there. Bear in mind the fable of the tortoise and the hare. Take pleasure in little things, in small gains, in gradual improvement. These are of the present, and are important
