If you print jokes people say you are silly.

If you don't they say you are too serious.

If you use stories from other publications, they say you're too lazy to write 'em yourself.

If we don't, they say, "You're stuck on your own stuff."

If you make changes in the other fellow's write-up, you're too critical.

If you don't, you're blamed for poor editing.

Now, likely as not, somebody is going to say, "You swiped this from another paper," and we did! * * A person sits down with the intention of writing another article, the telephone rings and, immediately, the thoughts are scattered to be gathered and composed again.

It is rather difficult to realize that this is the last editorial to be written by your editor for 1978, also the last to be written in ten years and, especially, that it is the 521st editorial since taking office as your

This is especially true because it is rather difficult to write something of interest to everyone, and/or the majority of our members-readers, etc., yet we endeavor to do so. The hope is that, at least, to a certain extent, we have succeeded. In the convention of our SPJST held in Dallas in June, 1968, when this writer was elected as your SPJST Vestnik editor, if the question had been posed: "Will you be able to write editorials for ten years every week?" The answer would definitely have been one word — no, however, when a person accepts an obligation, if they are conscientious, the problem will not be so hard to surmount if there is understanding from others realizing that there is an overall effort done to help all individuals involved. Have all of you, who read these lines, realized how simple all work and our lives would be if everyone would work for the common goal of the good for all concerned? There is so much ego and conceit prevalent among so many human beings, and, yes, among our own members, that we become so mired down in making sure we are noticed that we tend to overlook the good of our Society. If we each intended to promote ourselves, as members, in our Vestnik, especially in pictures, then we defeat the purpose of what our publication is all about. * * Looking back over the past years we realize the successes and achievements attained in our SPJST Society and, also that they were made possible because of your faith and loyalty to our own belief in our Society. For the relationship in it, we are happy and grateful and look to the future to strengthen that relationship. Today's trying times certainly prompt us as worthy citizens of our Nation and workers in the field of brotherhood to help secure and establish a lasting peace in the whole world. * * In the recent days of this holiday season of 1978, we have received very many letters to the Vestnik with personal wishes for the season and the new year 1979 and very many greeting cards and we appreciate them all; we are also inspired by the numerous subscriptions to the SPJST Vestnik that we have received as Christmas gifts

3 to relatives and friends. We appreciate the folks who feel that it is a worthwhile weekly publication and we hope, as long as we are in the position to be of service, we live up to your expectations.

We were especially glad and inspired by the many messages of good will from the many people we met at the Ctechs in Texas symposium in Temple in October and the friendly and sincere messages on the cards from the members of the Moravanka Brass Band from Brno, Czechoslovakia. One wrote: "We never realized we would be welcomed by such friendly people in a strange, to us, country!"

While on their tour, they regarded the SPJST halls as somehow friendly to them because they had heard of our Society through the Vestnik which goes to the Foreign Affairs Office of Czechoslovakia in Prague. They admired the friendly attitude of the Texas people of Czech-Moravian descent in general and were grateful for the warm reception accorded them while here in Texas. In fact, one of the female vocalists apologized, that at one or two of the performances, she had a slight cold and felt she had let the audience down.

They requested our family to visit Czechoslovakia for at least two weeks, and when we informed them we had not had a vacation in ten years, because of 52 issues of the Vestnik being published each year, they could not believe it. One responded: "In Czechoslovakia everyone has at least two weeks of vacation." We will always remember them. * * In conclusion — May your New Year's eve and day be safe, gay, sane, healthy and may 1979 be the best year of your life — that is the wish to all from your editor and family!

NEWSBRIEFS Mary Fusig, 73, of Houston, died Dee. 17th. Funeral services were held Tuesday at All Saints Catholic Church in Houston. Interment followed in Garden of Gethsemani.

The new liquor license was renewed and it is the responsibility of all the lodge officers under incorporation listed.

Joe Cantu, vice president, was appointed to obtain a heavy-duty vacuum cleaner for the lodge.

The board also discussed the matter about the water whenever it rains which comes into the new extension at the front of the building. After much discussion it was decided that asphalt will be added in front of the building and the rain gutters will be changed to stop the water flow into the building.

Game night equipment has been ordered which includes several times. After much discussion about this new equipment, a motion was made by Karen Blazer, seconded

by Otis Beck to accept these provisions by the Board of Trustees.

New members are Oscar Philip Roberts, Marjorie Ade11 Roberts, Cindy Lou Driska and Alfred Glaser, Jr. Members increasing their insurance are Edwin Driska, Juanita A. Ramm, Terry Edward Gotl, Sharon Driska and James Vernon Stalmach. Thank you for joining Lodge 177 and please attend the meetings and get involved in your lodge activities. Remember when you purchase a policy you become a member of the SPJST and your duty is to support the lodge. There is always plenty of work to be done. It seems there is always the same few to work. If we don't work the lodge cannot make money; therefore, it cannot serve anyone else, so please new members, and old members, too, get involved and work.

Next on the agenda was the election of the 1979 lodge officers.

Brother Hutka excused all officers from the floor, except Secretary Dorothy Lisenbe and Vice President Joe Cantu. Bill Hutka appointed Josie Tomastik, Mary Soudelier and Karen Blazer to serve on the election committee. The vice presi -denthuredtflorvet the nominating committee consisting of Jerry Tomastik, Juanita Ramm and Willie L. Dusek. This committee submitted its list of names with several nominations from the floor.

The new slate of officers are:

Our Christmas party was held Dec. 15th and we had a great turnout plus lots of food and drinks. All the members and invited guests enjoyed this event. Our parties are always fun. Thanks to everyone who helped with the party and to those of you who brought covered dishes; and thanks to Otis Beck for getting the Texas Road Gang band.

Dear Readers, We had a very good attendance at our December meeting.

Greeting cards were read from the Supreme Lodge and from the Youth Department of the Supreme Lodge, Nick Morris is head of the department; Dorothy Massey as state youth director, and Sarah Wilson, secretary. Greetings were also received from Big Joe Siedlik and a thank you for having the Moravanka play at our hall.

Sister Smajstrla reported she sent get-well cards to Marcus Hampton and Leo Sulak.

Dear Members: It has been a prosperous year for our lodge. As your president, a very heartfelt thanks is extended to everyone who has made it possible for us to continue to grow.

You have shown your unselfish character in supporting people who are in need by allowing several benefits to be held at our .lodge, thus raising thousands of dollan.

Your generous donations to variou:, civic organizations exemplify your concern for organizations other than SPJST. Most of all, you have taken your rightful place in the community as an active, participating leader in our school and community affairs. A good example is the $3,000 donation to the school this year This certainly displays our strong urge to be a doer of deeds.

The Youth Club deserves our utmost praise for their accomplishments during the past year -- a youth club that worked very hard and was rewarded by receiving many first-place honors, plus a state youth king.

I do not intend to single out any one person for special credit. The true facts are that the responsible members of this lodge have made it very sound and financially stable.

You, who are a very generous, unselfish, fun-loving group who not only believe but practice that it is better to give than to receive, deserve all the credit.

Fraternally, Bill Hutka President SPJEIT — LODGE NO. 66, WACO Dear Members: SPJST Lodge No. 66 held its 23rd annual members' Christmas party Saturday night, Dec. 16th. There was a very good turnout for the party.

Visitors introduced were Supreme Lodge President Nick A. Morris and his wife, Dorothy; District III Director Sid Pokladnik and his wife, Justine; District III Sales Rep. Alvin Nesuda and wife, Wilma; Editor of the Vestnik Rudy J. Sefcik; Publication Committee Chmn. Ed Mazanec and his wife, Agnes; and SPJST LAM Dept. Curator Otto Hanus and his wife, Matilda. We were glad to have all of you attend and we hope you will visit us again.

President West introduced the lodge officers and wives, plus the members of the Board of Trustees and Entertainment Committee.

Sister Bonnie Pruitt read from a lovely Christmas card from the Supreme Lodge officers, also a letter from Sister Dorothy Massey, who could not attend, also a phone call from Jeanette Smith that they could pot attend because she was not feeling well and Brother Silas had a sore foot. We were sorry that they could not attend.

We were sorry that our Entertainment Committee Chairperson Sue Pauling had a virus and could not be with us after all the work she did to get things ready for the party. We hope she is feeling OtIC now.

Brother Alvin Nesuda led us in the prayer before supper. It was delicious. Thanks to those who baked the turkeys, the help in the kitchen who prepared the dressing and gravy, and all the trimmings, and, oh my, all those lovely salads plus those delicious sweets brought by the ladies to go with the meal. All of you did an excellent job. The lodge was so pretty and the table decorations were lovely.

SL president Morris thanked the lodge for the invitation and he brought greetings from the other home office officers. He read a short verse, "Joy of Giving" and

Brother Pokladnik spoke a few words and stated that he was glad to be with us and that he was glad to see this party as a family day in which the children attended. It was a pleasure to have both of you present.

Brother Alvin Nesuda said he and Sister Wilma have attended almost all of our Christmas parties and they enjoy them very much. It was also nice having both of you in our presence.

Brother Rudy Sefcik said he had no excuse for being late (he was not late) and that he came alone because Sister Maxine and their sons had other commitments. He also congratulated Brother Emil and Sister Annie Hanus who have attended 180 consecutive meetings.

Gifts were presented to President West and his wife, Angeline.

The youth club also presented gifts to Sister Parma, her assistant, youth club officers and to Brother Otto Hanus and Brother Frank Parma for all they have done for the youth club.

State Queen Tena Urbanek and Duchess Donna Stanislav were recognized, including past State King Steven Stanislav and Duke Jeffery Nors.

The youth then presented a proPART OF NATIVITY SCENE: Karen Shelton as Mary, Larry Brem as Joseph, while Steven Stanislav (past state kin g) is at the piano ac- gram of the Nativity Scene that cornpaning his mother, Sister Barbara Stanislav (assistant youth leader) was carried out by the youth while Sister Barbara Stanislav sang who sang Christmas carols.

Christmas carols, the youth came with letters and candles which spelled out Christmas. They were accompanied on the piano by Steven Stanisla y . Tena Urbanek followed with a story of The Night Before Christmas, while all the youth gathered around her. Next on the program was a flute and trumpet duet of Christmas carols

by Tena Urbanek and Karen Shelton, Janice and Donna Stanislav sang I'm Gettin' Nuttin' for Christmas." Then everyone sang "Jingle Bells," and in came Santa Claus to the delight of all the little ones.

SANTA CLAUS. Youngsters at Linden Hall sharing the highlights with Santa Claus. our party this year, which we were glad to see for what is Christmas if you cannot have the joy of seeing the little ones having a good time. Santa talked with various ones and gave each one a bag of goodies.

The door prize drawing was held for the various items donated by the lodge, and also by members Emil Hanus, Henry West, Daniel Nors, Ray Orsag, Otto Hanus, Ed Mazanec, Sister Bonnie Pruitt, the Weldon Gapers, Sister Ruby Orsag, Sue and George Pauling, also a drawing was held for children who received prizes.

I think everyone had an enjoyable evening visiting together, the weather was nice, the food was delicious, the program was well presented by the youth club members, and the visit by Santa made the evening complete.

I hope each of you had a merry' Christmas and I would like to take this opportunity to wish each of you a happy and successful year, 1979.

Just a short note, remember the New Year's Eve dance Sunday, Dec. 31st, with music by the popular Blue Vest Boys. Come out and help bring in the New Year together.

The January meeting will be held Sunday, Jan. 21st at 2 p.m.

Fraternally, Annie Hanus English Reporter SPJST — LODGE NO. 80, HOLLAND Dear Brothers and Sisters: Our annual meeting was held Sunday, Dec. 3rd at 2 p.m., with Vice President Ricky Benner calling the meeting to order. Pledge of allegiance was recited by all members present. Roll call of officers showed all present.

The minutes of the November meeting were adopted, as read by recording secretary Brother Martinets. Correspondence was a Christmas card from the SPJST Home Office.

We were glad to have as our guest, Brother Lad Zatopek, District II sales representative, who made a brief talk and later installed the newly-elected officers of our lodge. Thanks for being with us, Brother Lad. Newly-elected officers of Lodge 80 for 1979 are as follows: President — Ricky Benner Vice President — Dan I. We had our lodge Christmas party Saturday evening, Dec. 9th,

from 4 to 11 p.m. It was a real SPJST fraternal party. We were honored to have with us on this occasion SL President Morris and his lovely wife to share the occasion with us. It is this kind of gathering that brings us closer together in a fraternal way. The music we had for the party to dance or listen to was great. Anyway, I think it was a nice party.

In closing, as 1978 comes to an end, I hope it has been a blessed one for you and yours and may the New Year of 1979 have for each of you health, happiness and peace is my wish.

SPJST CURRENT NEWS FROM LODGE NO. 88, HOUSTON Friday, Dec. 15th the dance was with music by Nick Navarro, which is ballroom music and usually the house is full, but it must have been the holiday season with everyone too busy to go dancing, because this dance was poorly attended.

The hosting committee was on the spot and the ladies serving were beautifully dressed according to the dress code. Homer Alexander was in charge, and his wife b y his side wore a silver gray embroidered chiffon; very becoming. Lolean Peeples, in a shocking pink chiffon and a crocheted poodle Pierre, the same color to match her gown, was on the table to greet the guests

Millie made a comeback after a long absence from the lodge so Homer put her in harness to work that night. Allyn Peeples was also helping.

Saturday, Dec. 16th, it was polka time with the Texas Dutchmen and on that night the attendance was "very well" with everyone having a ball. The hosting committee -John Broz, in charge, with his wife, Clara, greeting the guests with the help of Bernice Wahlberg and husband, Jimmie, seating the guests.

The lodge Choral Club made their annual visit to the S.P.J.S.T. Rest Home at Needville on Dec. 16th to entertain the house guests with Czech and English Christmas Carols and folk songs. We wish to thank for the lovely treat after our performance, which all of us enjoyed. We met the new manager, Mr. Harvey and his spouse, Thelma Marx. Thelma is a lovely person and went all out to make us feel at home. The buffet was loaded with delicious food prepared by several ladies. Annie Horelica baked the kolache which were out of this world and melted in your mouth, Annie's husband, Charles, who is in a wheelchair was not there. The John Kolajas, as every year, were there and Emily, as usual, baked her famous apple strudel and this time Lillie Tejkl also baked a strudel and both of them were delicious; her husband, August, was there but had nothing to do with Lillie's creation. Vlasta Novotny baked Christmas cookies which looked like a bouquet on the large plate the way she decorated them; her husband, Herbert, was also present.

Mrs. Beatrice Wilkerson is a volunteer at the home now, and before this, worked for four years and enjoyed helping wherever help was needed. The weather was beautiful and it was a pleasure and we do hope our efforts did bring some joy to the guests. Individual gifts to each person from the Lodge No. 88 Youth Club, fruit bags from the Lodge No. 88, and gift packages from the Choral Club were distributed before the refreshments were served. We wish to thank for the happy smiles our songs brought out on the faces of the listening guests.

It was a very nice surprise to find members of Lodge No. 66 at our Saturday dance; none other than Jim and Susie Holacka of Dallas, who were visiting schoolmate friends of 13 years, Helen and Earl Ehler, here in Houston. Earl is with the United Salt Co. manager of Customers' Service Co. His wife Helen, is employed by the Ac cidental Service Co. here in Houston. Jim Holacka is employed by the Home Furnishing Co. in Dallas; his spouse is director of Medical Records at Lakewood General Hospital. The two couples alternate in visiting each other during the holiday season and this time it was up to the Holackas to visit the Ehlers. Don't wait a year and come back any time.

John and Mary Kosut had a nice surprise for the coming holidays; their son, Gary, flew in from Saudia, Arabia, Dec. 11th, where he spent several months, of course, that made it very special for the parents, and Mary forgot all about her broken ankle in a cast now; she slipped on the floor of one of the department stores while Christmas shopping and will be nursing it for several weeks, but she doesn't mind now, so long as Gary is home.

Four couples, all members of Lodge No. 88, got together and headed for Corpus Christi to visit with Edwin and Stacy Glumb and all attended the dance at SPJST Lodge No. 79 on Dec. 2nd, with Ludwig and Marion Mikes, Rudy and Celest Darilek, Bill and Adele Hughes and Earline Hoffman. They all enjoyed the weekend trip and hospitality of their friends, Edwin and Stacy.

The social night, the Choral Club and all the private parties are not complete without the Allisons. We miss you both, Harriette and Sarge.

Today I found out that Harriette has two of her loved ones sick.

Sarge has trouble with his cataract eye transplant which he had done three months ago. Henry Studnicny, her twin brother, is down with a nasty case of the flu. Harriette is lucky to be feeling good and able to take care of both. Get well soon, we miss you, Deer season sure has a devoted hunter in Joe Elzner who again took off with his grandson, John, and ventured out to Bellville, to Tom Elzner's ranch where they

spent a nice and joyful weekend.

Rosalee Kostom entertained her sorority, Beta Sigma Phi, on Dec. 12th in her beautiful and cozy home on T. C. Jester Blvd. The sorority held their annual Christmas party combined with a short meeting. Inside and outside the home,- bright decorations brought out the holiday spirit. While the ladies conducted their brief meeting, husband Tim Kostom, entertained the Beta Sigma Phi members' spouses with refreshments and later all enjoyed a delicious buffet dinner.

At the Blue Room Christmas party, I spotted my postman,Weldon Jester, a member of Lodge No. 88, who says he attends the dances regularly, but I had not seen him there before; I guess tecause he was so dressed up and was out of his blue post office attire. Weldon's party was at Table 13 and I had the pleasure to meet his spouse, Mary, a very sweet lady and full of smiles. I hope, after complaining to Mary about Weldon delaying delivery of my weekly Vestnik I will be getting it on time. Of course, Weldon claimed I am getting the Vestnik late because he is off on some of those days; he thinks he will get by with that alibi I used to get the Vestnik regularly on Wednesday and now it may he Friday and maybe next week, which aggravates me.

Again we are mourning the passing of one of our devoted lodge members, and a very active Birthday Club Sister, Mary Fusig, always pleasant and willing to do her part and more. Mary departed from our midst Sunday, Dec. 16th, 1978. This came as a shock to all of us. Mary, with her husband, Joseph Fusig, and daughter, Helen Hegwood, after spending five days in Las Vegas were on their return flight when Mary became ill and on arrival was rushed to Memorial Hospital. We all are bewildered and it is hard to realize that Mary is not with us any longer. Her deeds were many; she never refused to extend a helping hand and a smile. Mary will be missed by many and mainly by her grandchildren who idolized her. Our sincere sympathy to the surviving family.

The meeting was opened with the pledge to our flag, led by Dennis Veselka. Roll call of officers and officers' reports were given.

We had a very good turnout for this meeting.

Our next meeting will be held on the first Sunday in January, 1979.

The meeting will begin at 2 p.m. and refreshments will be served.

An important issue will be brought up in this meeting. This issue will be concerning the combi-

nation of officers; such as, the treasurer's office being combined with the secretary's office, etc.

11 9th anniversary of Lodge 172, with a covered dish supper and Christmas dance to the sweet music of Weinert Grohmann. The members and guests outdid themselves with their favorite dishes. Everyone commented on the amount of food and how delicious it all was.

Brother Louis Hanus told me that this is just wonderful; everyone was all dressed up and it was a very beautiful dance and everybody had a good time.

Brother Louis Hanus was so happy for the good turnout; he is such an active district director and lots of fun to have around and John and I think a lot of him.

Among the other guests were District V President Jerry Prochazka and his lovely wife, Delores, District V Treasurer and Publication Committee member Tommy Lostak and his lovely wife, Gladys; all of them were having a good time, also.

Brother Hanus said that I give him "A" for a lot of things he has said or done, but last night he received a "D" from someone . . . he didn't say who it was.

Last night I tried to play Editor Rudy Sefcik and took a few pictures of the beautiful 9th anniversary cake and all the hard working members of Lodge 172.

I hope to see you at the next meeting Jan. 8th and at our fine dances.

Fraternally, Betty Hlavaty SPJST — LADIES' CIRCLE, LODGE NO. 92, FORT WORTH President Anne Polk opened the meeting on Thursday, Dec. 14th, wishing all holiday greetings in both Czech and English. Vice President Bessie Prochaska presided over the election of officers. All officers for the coming year were unanimously re-elected. The following sisters who will continue to serve are President Ann Polk, Vice President Bessie Prochaska, Secretary Aurora Maldino and Treasurer Hermina Cihacek. Lillie McMillen will continue as Sunshine Committee, Anna Langer as Hospitality Chmn., and Mary Cihacek as Reporter. President Polk presented Christmas corsages to the officers who served the Circle in 1978.

The Circle welcomed visitors Marie Frill and Eirween Skrahart and we cordially invite them to attend our future meetings. Sister Mary Powers retired from General Dynamics after many years of service and will be able to participate in the Circle's activities which she has not been able to do before her retirement. The Circle will enjoy her presence at the monthly meetings very much.

Members voted to increase our yearly dues, a step which was not taken lightly, but inflation is affecting us individually and collectively. Every month you have been informed and will continue to be informed of the amount of money in our treasury. Records are open to all members and the money will be used as the members desire.

Sunshine Committee reported the death of John Tesar, brother of our member, Frank Tesar, and brotherin-law of Sister Marie Tesar.

Deaths affecting our members are sad and in the year 1978 the Circle lost Sister Agnes Wruble, whom we all miss.

A committee to select draperies presented to SPJST Lodge No. 92 are Sisters Lillie McMillen, Elizabeth Gregory, Anne Polk and Mary and Hermina Cihacek. A gift was sent to the S.P.J.S.T. Rest Home in Taylor, and masses requested for the sick and deceased members.

FRIENDSHIP CLUB Our December meeting was well attended. Guests were Emily Ketchum, Anna and Stanley Hromcik, Mary Pavey and Amy Steinman.

Officers for the new year are: President — Marie Tesar Vice President — Mary Saldana Secretary — Rose Steinman Treasurer — Marie Tesar Reporter — Rose Steinman.

Christmas carols were sung and gifts handed out to the members followed by a delicious lunch.

Birthdays for December were: Marie Tesar, Otto Kurtz, and John Zubb. We wish them many more.

The next meeting will be Jan. 3rd, 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Hall.

I have enjoyed being your reporter but know that Rose Steinman will do a great job as reporter for 1979.

I want to take this opportunity to wish all of you a happy and prosperous New Year.

Fraternally, Mary Ann Krivanek, Reporter - SPJST — S.P.J.S.T. REST HOME NO. 2 Needville, Texas We wish to thank the ones for their gratitude through the year.

John Davis volunteers about 20 hours a week of his time to the home. He transports guests to the doctor's office and to the outside activities; also, he picks up articles from the stores for our guests.

Ladies from the Needville Presbyterian Church come in once a month to do mending for the residents. They also make bibs and lap robes for the residents.

dents bring a bag of fruit to the residents every month. Mrs. Helen Ley is their sponsor. They have also adopted some of our guests who do not have a family or their family does not live close enough to visit them often. The students visit with our guests and send cards to them through the year.

Mrs. Beatrice Wilkerson is a faithful volunteer for S.P.J.S.T. Rest Home for several years; she comes in every day to help feed the residents and she also helps out with the activities.

The Presbyterian Youth Group of Needville came to the home Nov. 19th. They brought flowers for every table and sang religious songs to the residents.

Mrs. Sandy Anderson comes once a week from New Gulf to teach bible study.

We have a birthday party at the end of each month honoring those who had a birthday during the month. Mrs. Winston Loehr baked the beautiful cakes for us.

The "A" Flower Shop donates corsages for the ladies and boutonnieres for the men at the end of each month to the ones who had a birthday during that month.

They too bring flowers during the month to the home.

The: ministers , donating their services through the year were: Larry Norwood, Russell Zeiner, Jim Welch, Fetter Nichols, Harold Pehler, George Kuebler and Richard Avery.

KFRD Radio Station in Rosenberg announces our residents' birthdays and dedicates a song to them on their birthdays.

The Gulf Coast Tribune prints the news from our home, monthly.

We wish to thank the Senior Citizens of Needville for inviting our folks to their social each month.

Richmond State School came to the home in August to sing.

St. Paul's Presbyterian Church brought gifts to the residents for Christmas.

The residents' Christmas party was held Dec. 8th and we had approximately 150 visitors. Mr Edwin Guttenberger got a band together and everyone enjoyed the music. Santa arrived about 8 p.m. and he stayed about 30 minutes before returning to the North Pole.

Dec. 10th the Trinity Lutheran Church from Rosenberg came to sing Christmas carols.

Dec. 10th the Needville 4-H Club brought Christmas gifts to our residents.

Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Ley gave our residents a case of oranges for Christmas.

The Catholic ladies brought gifts and served cookies and punch to the guests for Christmas.

Dec. 15th Mrs. Anita Schmidt brought refreshments to the staff for their coffee break.

Again on Dec. 15th, Louise Reininger brought a case of apples and flowers to our guests for Christmas.

Carol Bosse's group came to the home to sing Christmas carols and brought gifts.

SPJST Lodge No. 88 of Houston came to the home on Dec. 16th to sing Christmas carols and oldtime favorites in English and Czech; they also brought fruit and gifts to the residents of the home.

The youth group from the Baptist Church put on a program for the residents.

UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON CZECH CLUB Christmas music, kolache, sausages, pivo, and St. Nicholas himself were very much in evidence at the Mikulasska party sponsored by the Czech Club at the University of Houston, Wednesday, Dec. 6th.

The festive evening began with an excellent demonstration by the Sokol gymnasts, followed by the SPJST Lodge No. 88 Czech Concert Orchestra under the direction of Mr. Rudy Dybala, featuring a cymbal dulcimer solo by Mr. Ed

ner, accompanied by Mrs. Kathryn Warner. Mr. Theofil Halama, Professor of Czech at the University of Houston, gave an insight on St. Nicholas tradition as kept in the old country.

Skits and dancing, along with an exhibition of pictures, slides, publications and many other items of .nterest from Czechoslovakia rounded out the evening of varied entertainment. The U of H Czech classes stress many aspects of Czech history and culture in addition to teaching the language, and seek to expand the students' knowledge of Czech art, music, food and customs.

We urge interested readers to enroll in the spring semester (1979) Czech classes which will be offered at U of H on all levels from beginner to conversational, both day and evening. Registration will be held on Jan. 2nd and 3rd, with late registration to be held on Jan. 19th.

Classes will begin Jan. 15th. For further information, call the University of Houston, 749-1011 or 7492357.

The purpose of this meeting will be to incorporate any additions that the committee members may have received from the members since we passed out copies of these proposed R & R on Dec. 3rd. These will be handed out at the Jan. '7th meeting. In the meantime, if any of you have anything you would like added to the R&R, let one of the committee members know. At this point, it is not our plan to change what has already been put in writing; that will be done by the membership in the meeting of Jan. 7th.

The committee respectfully urges that all interested members of the lodge attend the regular monthly meeting on Sunday, Jan. 7th, 1979, at which time the new proposed R&R will be read, discussed, and acted on. LIBRARY, ARCHIVES, MUSEUM Dear Members and Readers: As the year 1978 is soon coming to a close I would like to make a brief report on our LAM Dept.

— particularly our museum. We have had visitors from many states and several foreign countries.

Many of these visitors came through because their friends had visited us before and recommended our museum to them; this is fine advertising for our SPJST. We are adding something to our museum almost every week and just recently, we have received a Vietnamese ceremonial smoking pipe. This you should see. This pipe has a stem 10 1/2 feet long and the bowl of the pipe is beautifully burned by hand by Vietnamese artists. This fine addition to our museum came from Mr. and Mrs. Bill Williams and Lisa of Corpus Christi.

Another new display that many of you have not seen is the handiwork of Mrs. Marie Macas of Roseberg, Oregon. This is fine embroidery and crocheting; some of these pieces are priceless, yet Mrs. Macas chose to display them here.

We invite all of you to visit our LAM Department, soon.

We are still looking for a small windmill, a five shovel cultivator, a 15-tooth V-shaped harrow, a double shovel and a Go Devil cultivator to help round out the pioneer farmers display. You'll never find a better display for your relics than our museum where they will advertise your family and gifts forever; many donors have expressed themselves concerning their pleasure in having placed their relics in our care. Write us what you have and we will either pick it up or make arrangements to do so.

Our library has also grown to be the largest Czech library in the United States in one location, yet we have room for more books, in any condition, just send or bring them in, get your name on our Golden Book.

What kind of books do we have?

We have educational books, religious books, agricultural books (in this category we have the complete library of U. S. Department of Agriculture Yearbooks courtesy of Congressman Bob Poage), then we have a lot of poetry in both Czech and English. Thes ,?, books are available for your use at no charge if

You can have the books for up to six weeks but if you should not be able to finish reading them in that time, you simply drop us a card and we will renew the loan for additional time. Fraternally yours, Otto Harms - SPJST — CZECH CLUB AT THE UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON The spring semester (1979) will offer expanding Czech studies. Introductory classes (131 & 132) will be offered on Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 to 10 a.m., 5:30 to 7 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Beginning Czech (131) is for the student who has no background and wishes to begin with the very basic function of the Czech language, the abeceda (alphabet).

Czech 132 is for those who have basic skills but want some further knowledge before going to the intermediate level. Czech 232, stressing conversation and grammer will be offered at the 10 to 11:30 a.m. classes Tuesday and Thursday.

Not only classroom learning is part of Czech education. The tales, cooking and experiences of CzechAmericans are educational in themselves.

YOUTH SECTION From The Lodge Youth Leaders LODGE NO. 177, ACADEMY Dear Members, We had a great meeting and all the youth members were getting the Christmas spirit and glad the school holidays were approaching.

Saturday, Dec. 9th, the youth club met at the lodge and made Christmas decorations and greeting cards to take to the Southern Manor Rest Home. The youngsters did at wonderful job on their decorations. First, we ate hamburgers and then we took our decorations to the home where we also sang Christmas carols and sang "You Light Up My Life." Afterward we had cookies and punch. The folks at the rest home enjoyed our party very much; you could certainly tell by looking at their faces how much they enjoyed us being there. I really appreciate your fine cooperation from both youth members and their parents. I had a great time and I know the youth did, too. It made my holidays more complete.

Thanks to everyone who helped.

Paula Brown was our guest speaker this month. She gave a talk on first-aid. It was very educational, and on things that happen in the home every day; so, remember the next time you have a minor accident apply the simple first-aid principles that were taught. Thanks again, Paula, we enjoyed your program.

Sunday, Dec. 17th we had a dance with the theme being the 1950s. Our youth club paid for the refreshments. We had a fair turn-

out, but those who were there had a good time. We had 20 silver dollars to give away. There were twist, bop, stroll and jitterbug contests and we also had the best dressed and believe me we had some good ones; it looked like the 50s were here again. In addition we had a participation contest. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Klinkovsky were with us and we were very glad to see them present.

This is my last letter as youth leader. We have a new youth leader, Mrs. Betty Hawk, and she has two children, Missey and Jenice.

Betty is going to make Lodge 177 a great youth leader, so please, at the January meeting, everyone try to attend the meeting and get acquainted with her.

Letters From The Youth LODGE NO. 179, WARRENTON Dear Readers, The youth club of Lodge No. 179, Warrenton, started their Christmas party and meeting by leading in the singing of Christmas carols.

All the adults and visitors joined us including special guest Sister Evelyn Mikeska and son, and Brother John Kubena.

Our regular business meeting followed. Plans for caroling are to leave from the Round Top Bethlehem Lutheran Church at 5:15 on the 21st and visit the nursing homes in La Grange and also the shut-ins around the community.

Since the ladies will also be visiting the nursing homes, we decided to make our next visit in January.

Next everyone enjoyed the Christmas gift exchange, refreshments and turkey and dressing supper with all the trimmings.

We went to the Southern Manor Rest Home and performed a pro-

16 gram and passed out Christmas cards and decorations. We knew that the folks in the home really enjoyed it. We did too.

We also had a guest speaker, Paula Brown. She talked to us about first-aid and what to do in case of emergency and where to go. It was very interesting.

If you didn't come to the last meeting, you missed the leaving of our youth leader, Mrs. Pat Tomastik. We will all miss her. It is indescribable to say what all she has done for the youth and we thank her from the bottom of our hearts. She will be replaced by Betty Hawk and we expect very much out of her, too. The youth express a warm welcome to you, as our youth leader.

By the time this letter will have been printed we will have had our 50s party. I will tell you about it in my next letter next month.

Brother Miculka joined SPJST Lodge No. 184, Moulton, on April 15, 1906, at the age of 20 years.

Nov. 3rd, 1908, he married Pauline Vincik, of Moulton, and after a month, they moved to Floresville, in Wilson County.

Brother Miculka was born Jan. 6, 1886, in Moravia, Texas. His parents were John and Anna (Vyvijala) Miculka. Brother Miculka farmed for 60 years. He retired from farming in 1967 and moved to San Antonio. He then transferred to Lodge No. 133 from Lodge 93.

In 1976 he returned back to Floresville, where he resided at the Floresville Nursing Home.

Brother Adolph Miculka was a dedicated member. Although being blind in later years he always attended the meetings, and would voice his opinion on many discussions. SPJST was his life.

Brother Miculka will be missed by the membership. He was always inspiring to the young generation.

Before his retirement Brother Jones was a rural mail carrier. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Granger, the Granger Masonic Lodge and SPJST Lodge No. 20 for 37 years.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Zuma Jones of Granger; a daughter, Mrs. Gene Graves of Fort Worth; a sister, Mrs. Gus Garren of Bogata; and two brothers, Lon Jones of Heidenheimer and Perry Jones of Belton.

Resolution Committee: Ed Gaida, Rita Marburger Vera Gorubee SPJST — EXPRESSION OF SYMPATHY We, the undersigned Resolution Committee of SPJST Lodge Komensky No. 20, Granger, in behalf of our entire membership, wish to express our heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family of our departed lodge brother, RUDOLPH ROZACKY, who died on Tuesday, Dec. 12th, 1978 at the age of 86 years. He was a member of SS Cyril and Methodius Church of Granger, and Rev. Albert Ruiz officiated with burial in the Machu Cemetery, at Granger.

Brother Rozacky was a retired farmer and lived in Granger most of his life. He was a member of SPJST Lodge 20, Granger, for 64 years.

Survivors include two daughters, Vera Bartosh of Austin and Thelma Naizer of Granger; and four sons, Alvin Rozacky of Taylor, Rudy Rozacky of Fort Worth, I. C. Rozacky of Granger, and James Rozacky of New Braunfels; one brother, Henry Rozacky, Sr., of Granger and four sisters, Angeline Cervenka of Taylor, Hattie Vitek of Waco, Louise Horak of Granger, and Hermina Kubala of Corpus Christi.

EXPRESSION OF SYMPATHY We, the Resolution Committee of Lodge No. 15, Buckholts, in behalf of our entire membership, wish to express our heartfelt sympathy to the family of our departed lodge brother,

ALBERT W. ZAJICEK, SR., age 84, of Buckholts who died Tuesday, Nov. 28th, 1978 in a Cameron nursing home after a long illness.

Funeral services . were held at 3 p.m. Thursday in Hope Lutheran Church in Buckholts, with Rev. Charles Treptou officiating. Burial was in the Corinth Cemetery, near Buckholts. Funeral arrangements were by Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron.

Brother Zajicek was in the grocery feed and general merchandise business in Buckholts for many years. He was born Oct. 30th, 1894, in Milam County and moved near Buckholts with his parents, four brothers and five sisters. His parents Tom and Veronika (Chudep Zajicek emigrated from Czechoslovakia and farmed in the Buckholts community while the children were growing up.

In 1928 Brother Zajicek married Lydia Valka of Buckholts. They had two children.

He was a member of the Sokol in his younger years and went to Chicago in 1925 to represent Texas in gymnastic competition (Sokol Slet). He was a member of SPJST Lodge No. 15 in Buckholts, a member of the Buckholts American Legion Post, member of the Buckholts Lions Club, member of San Andress Lodge No. 170 in Cameron, and member of the Hope Lutheran Church in Buckholts.

He was a World War I veteran and played a cornet in the 36th Field Artillary Military Band while served in France. After returning home from the service, he played in local bands. He was active in the Boy Scouts and other youth activities in his community. His greatest interest was, to be there where help was needed.

Survivors include his wife, Lydia Zajicek, son, A. W. Zajicek, Jr. and daughter-in-law, La Merle Zajicek of Buckholts; a brother Louis Zajicek of Houston; two sisters, Miss Anna Zajicek of Cameron Nursing Home and Mrs. Steve (Lydia) Kadera of Houston; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, three brothers and three sisters.

Pallbearers were nephews: Joe Zajicek, John Zajicek, Albert T. Zajicek, Edwin Zajicek, L. D. Zajicek, Vince Zajicek, J. D. Ruzicka, George Kadera, Amos Hamusek, and Eugene Hamusek.

We shall remember our brother with honor and respect as time goes by.

May our departed brother rest in eternal peace and his memory live among us forever.

Resolution Committee: Charlsie Svetlik Kathleen Jurca Sidonia Svoboda - SPJST — RESOLUTION OF SYMPATHY We, the undersigned Resolution Committee of Komensky SPJST Lodge No. 20, Granger, in behalf of our entire membership, wish to express our heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family of our departed lodge brother, JOS. H. MACHAC, JR., who died Friday, Nov. 24th, 1978, at the age of 75 years. He was a member of SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church of Granger; Rev. Desmond Murphy officiated. Burial was in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Granger.

Brother Machac died in a Taylor hospital after a lengthy illness. He was a retired farmer and lived in Granger most of his life after immigrating from Czechoslovakia. He was a member of SPJST Lodge No. 20 Granger, for 58 years.

Morris. Brother John Stasa was admitted to Lodge No. 15, Buckholts, June 11th, 1911, and transferred to Lodge No. 56, Oct. 6th, 1953; all six members in the Stasa family. In 1976 he was elected honorary president.

JANACEK BALLET GALA SUCCESS

By Robert Jones (From The News and Courier, Charleston, S.C., Nov. 6, 1978) The Ballet Gala of a Janacek Celebration was a great success, though not quite as dazzling as the Scriabin Gala last year, mostly because Janacek's music is less obviously suited to jumping, kicking and twirling than Scriabin's.

Enough of it was, though, to end the evening on the hoped for smash hit.

Producer Joseph Wishy's theatricality is all-stops-out and very showy, stopping just a hair's width from bad taste — but he always stops just in time to give his audiences a, thrill without making them edgy. Things started with the now-memorized fanfare in midstate, while dim stars burst around them, ending in one big burst and a reversed-image drawing of Janacek's face on a screen. After that came some of the Lachian Dances, early folk symphonic things danced enthusiastically by the Limbora Slovak Folk Ensemble, a New York outfit specializing in folklore.

The youngsters danced with enthusiasm and a happy amateur elan exactly right for Janacek's peasant material.

"The Fiddler's Child," a gloomfilled horrod story with social overtones, failed to give the noted dramatic dancer Sallie Wilson much

to do other than look haunted, but it gave Lawrence Rhodes a virtuoso vehicle as a twirling-dervish kind of ghost. A good ballet, nothing memorable, but very faithful to the original story, perhaps even too faithful — it all impressed me as a bit studied and lacking the truly grisly mood.

"Youth" caught the Janacekia,n spirit of untrammelled youth perfectly — and in Roaring 20s style.

The Kathryn Posin Dance Company had a grand time with Ms. Posin's giddy movements, flipping and kicking, bouncing upside down and even a hint of a Charleston step here and there. Lord knows I never expected to see the Charleston danced to Janacek's music, but I did and I loved it.

Without question, though, the most brilliant piece of artistic work came in a duet to the Suite for Janacek's opera, "The Cunning Little Vixen." Norbert Schmucki had invented choreography that caught, to an uncanny extent, Janacek's strange, unworldly universe of the animal kingdom, with Wilfride Prillet as a male fox involved in a darting, loving seduction of Jean Guizerix as an almost mystically erotic Vixen. It all took place beneath a magical orange moon that shed sheer enchantment over everything. Unforgettable.

"Sunflowers," a revival (or resurrection, I'm not sure which) of an Anthony Tudor ballet, looked dated and not terribly interesting, though the North Carolina Dance Theater seemed to be doing it all well enough, and Edward Villella's choreography to a set of pieces from the sad and nostalgic "Overgrown Path" contained the famous Leslie Browne and the not-so-famous Aragno, also Villella himself, but looked vapid and thoughtlessly dreamy alongside the music itself.

The evening's big hit was the "Sinfonietta" by the Netherlands Dance Theater, whose director and choreographer, Jiri Kylian, is both Czech and an ardent Janacek enthusiast. Acelarding to Producer Wishy, Kylian agreed to come to Charleston especially to fulfill his dream of choreographing the "Sinfonietta," and dedicating it to his grandmother, who had known Janacek himself. As far as I could tell, being no authority on Czech folk dancing, Kylian's work had practically nothing to do with eith-

er Czech dancing or Janacek's own ideas, but on the other hand, there is no real reason it should. Kylian went to the music itself, devising a ceaselessly energetic and flamboyant display of acrobatics to match Janacek's blaring fanfares. It was all fairly thrilling, especially at the end when each brass entrance sent dancers soaring into the air in eyeboggling succession. If Kylian's "Sinfonietta" doesn't become a ballet step, it probably will be because nobody has the energy for it.

The "Glagolitic Mass" virtually packed the Cistern on Friday night.

It is an outdoor Mass, a hymn to pantheism, but it still needs solid walls to enclose the bass sound and organ tones — which of course, is impossible outdoors. Thus the organ sounded squeaky instead of imposing and the high humidity soured some of the strong inconation. But Conductor Daniel Oren drove the music as if he were a pilot trying out a space rocket, ignoring subtleties in favor of energy and intensity. Since Janacek's Mass is energetic and not especially subtle, Oren went straight to the heart of the piece and played the living daylights out of it, mostly by leaping several feet into the air at the least provocation. The huge chorus was splendid, Suprano Esther Hinds opulet and the others quite serviceable. Wishy's promised display of laser light looked thin and timid until the very end, when every tree in the Cistern suddenly flamed with shimmering green light that more than satisfied expectations.

The First Quartet came first at the Chamber Music series, the only piece I stayed to hear, and the four men practically ripped their instruments to shreds over Janacek's wild-and-wooly piece — again, exactly the right way to play it.

Rudolf Firkusny's last show at the Garden Theatre had the "Capriccio" for left hand brass ensemble. "Does it always sound that ugly?" asked a friend who had never heard it before. "Always," I told him, since the "Capriccio" is somber, harsh and decidely unlovable. But it is a great work and a few flubs in the nearly-impossibleto-play brass parts didn't really blemish it at all.

"The Diary of One Who Vanished" proved a bit much for a hot 5 p.m. — the audience fidgeted and

Wednesday, December 27, 1978 seemed unable to surrender themselves to this long, intense cycle of desperate love. Firkusny played it magnificently, as was to be expected, and Jacque Trussel did the solo tenor part expertly. Trussel, though, for all his musicianship, has a voice in severe need of vocal repair — this resonant middle voice ascends to a harsh, pinched top that makes tolerance a chore.

But his personal magnetism, so powerful in last year's "Queen of Spades" saved the day in this particular work.

The film of "The Cunning Little Vixen," awaited as the high point, and the only operatic point, of Janacek's work, was an unmitigated disaster. The film proved to be a dusky black and white copy of something else, patched and cracked and hard to hear. Incredibly, it had been spliced together wrong, so that an Act 1 scene was followed by the finale which was followed by something from Act 2, and so on until the audience was ready to murder whoever had not taken the trouble to look at the mess first. For a back-room beer bust it might have been funny, but for Spoleto, it was unforgivable and I hope somebody's head rolls for it.

- SPJST BLACKEYED "BEANS" FOR NEW YEAR'S DAY Prepare blackeyed "beans" for a traditional New Year's feast.

That's correct, this ever-popular New Year's dish is not really a pea — it is a bean, a food., and nutrition specialist, Marilyn Haggard, says.

But, tradition dictates that black eyed peas are known as peas — and will probably continue to be called peas.

Whether pea or bean, no New Year's day celebration would seem right without them, the specialist points out.

Preparation — When preparing blackeyed peas, soak the peas before cooking to reduce cooking time.

First, boil them in water for two minutes, remove from the heat and soak for one hour. Now they are ready to cook.

Or, soak the peas overnight, start with the two-minute boil — the brief boil will keep them from souring and help prevent hard skins.

Then, leave the peas to soak un-

til the next day.

Seasoning — Season with one teaspoon salt for each cup of dry peas, the specialist continues.

Salt pork and bacon are old standbys for reasoning, but chopped ham or smoked turkey left from the Christmas celebration are also great.

Add pepper, garlic and oregano in small amounts — one-fourth teaspoon per pound of dry peas -to enhance flavor.

Slow Cooking — In the slow cooker, soak the peas overnight, then cook the soaked beans in water on 'high' for two to three and one-half hours.

Reduce control setting to `low,' add seasonings and meat and cook for eight to ten hours.

For a change of pace, try Barbarbecued Blackeyes.

Barbecue Blackeyes 4 slices bacon 1 large onion, chopped 3 cups drained cooked or canned blackeyed beans 1 cup bean liquid 1/4 cup of your favorite barbecue sauce 1 teaspoon prepared mustard 1/2 cup diced green pepper 1 cup coarsely, crushed potato chips Cook bacon crisp in skillet or saucepan. Remove bacon.

In the hot fat, cook onion until thoroughly heated.

Add beans, liquid, barbecue sauce and mustard, mixing lightly.

Simmer 15 minutes adding more liquid if needed.

Just before serving stir in green pepper and potato chips and heat a minute or two longer.

Serve topped with bacon. Makes four big servings.

Fried Blackeyed Peas Fry a sliced onion slowly in fat until lightly browned.

Add leftover blackeyed peas, and fry until hot and tasty.

Estate with no will — Without a will, property is distributed according to the state laws of descent and distribution.

Why name an executor? — In making a will, naming an executor is important, because an executor is the key figure in settling an estate.

Ideally, the executor should live in the same state, be on good terms with the family and be familiar with the parent's finances.

Executors have three main duties: to collect assets, pay bills and distribute the remaining assets among the heirs.

Many parents name an adult child as executor of the estate.

A will also encourages parents to organize their important papers and documents.

Eventually, the executor will need to know where important papers and assets are located. AUTO SAFETY IN SIX EASY STEPS Six safety steps will prevent "miles" of auto accidents, says Claudia Kerbel, a consumer information specialist with the Texas Agricultural Extension Service, The Texas A & M University System.

Practice these steps — and drive defensively: —Observe speed limits. Speeding is a factor in more than 25 per cent of all accidents.

—Yield the right of way — even if the driver is wrong. Failing to yield is a factor in more than 20 percent of all accidents.

—Keep a safe distance from the car ahead of you. Tailgating is involved in almost 10 percent of all

—Drive during daylight hours when possible. Three times more people are killed at night than during the daytime.

—Do not drink and drive.

Drinking is a factor in about half of all fatal traffic accidents.

—Use your seat belt. At least 12,000 more lives will be saved each year if all car passengers used seat belts, according to the National Safety Council.

— SPJ9T — PLAN NOW FOR SPRING FLOWERING BULBS For an array of landscape color from spring flowering bulbs such as crocus, snowdrops and winter aconite, planting should be done in the fall.

Everett E. Janne, landscape horticulturist with the Texas Agricultural Extension Service, says that except for tulips, spring flowering bulbs should be planted in October and November so they have ample time to develop a good root system.

In Central and South Texas, tulip bulbs should be refrigerated at 35 to 40 degrees F. until mid-December for longer stems and good flower development.

For best results, plant bulbs in clusters around tree trunks and shrubs in a natural woodland setting or rock garden, Jarme points out. The variety of flower colors and size within each type of bulb is limitless. Grouping bulbs of the same color together in mass plantings produces the most effective landscapes.

The general rule is to plant outdoor bulbs so the top is below the surface at about twice the diameter of the bulb. Bulbs should be planted in well-drained soil of average fertility to achieve blooming over a period of years. Bulbs prefer a sandy loam soil in a sunny area.

A few choice bulbs can be set aside for indoor forcing, adds Janne. Crocus, grape hyacinths, daffodils, tulips and hyacinths are good for indoor use.

Bulbs should be potted as soon as they are avail anle in equal rails of soil, peat and sand on top of one then of gravel. The tips of large bulbs seould be showing above the surface• i ■ ',mall bulbs should barely be covered with soil.

Store newly potted bulbs at 40 50 degrees if.. for six t weaks, then place them in a cool

CHECK FRUIT TREES FOR TENT CATERPILLARS

Last season was a notorious year for the eastern tent caterpillar, so a high number of egg masses can be expected this year on trees.

In summer, broadleaf trees, evergreens and vines can save energy as well as add beauty to your landscape. Homes protected on the south and west by shade trees or trellesed vines will be up to 8 degrees cooler than unprotected houses.

Dale jsme prohledli jina, historicka mista a koneene jsme zastavTli v restauraci na mestskem namesti, kde jsme Po obedvali a pak jsme se vratili do Neratovice zase jinou Icestou, bohatou krajinou, vdude byly krasne arody, piekrasne lesy a dobra dalnice. Po obou stranach vdeeh dalnic mail nasazeny tisice a tisice ttedni, co2 je yzacne ovoce, kdy2 zraje.

V nedeli 9. dervenee po dobre sni dani jsme zase nasedli na na g bus a uhaneli do Prahy k navateve chramo sv. Jiti, kde jsme dorazili asi v devet hodin a jelikot se tam prave konaly slo2by bon tak jsme si sedli at' dokoneili slu2by. Pak jsme dakladne prohledly delY

Po ukondeni pro hlidky jsme zadli do blizkeho Savoy hotelu na obed, kterY byl vyteeny a po °bode jsme se vratili do Neratovic, abychom se ptipravili na odjezd na Slovensko, na druhy den.

V pondell rano jsme naposled v dome kultury mladeie a nasedli jsme na dva auto busy piipraveni â&#x20AC;˘cestovat na Slovensko.

Z Neratovic jsme zajeli do Prahy \no, Malou Stranu a do fikadovny Zahran.eniho ustavu odkud jsme koneene vyjeli po krasne a moderni dalnici do Bratislavy, hlavniho mesta Slovenska, Jell jsme pteltrasnou a botatou krajinou, vtude byly dobre arody v polich, krasn6 le-. lesy, eiste vesnice a mesta, vdnde vzornY potadek. Zastavai jsme v krasne restauraci na obeli, kterY byl vYteeny. Zaeatkem nodi testy na Slovensko nadi prOvodci byli pan Frantidek Bielek a pan Claude Balo2 a starali se o nas, abychom melt pohodlne cestovani. Schody jsou z krasneho rriramoru. Je to krasa, ktere, se neda slovy vypsat, to se musi videt. Konedne jsme se dostali ins vrchni poschodt, odkud je rozkotnY pohled na most mezi Bratislavou a Rakouskem. Je to most, ktery nema tadne podpory v fece a vysi na ocelovych provazech z Rakouske strany. Je to div intenYrske prace. Po celou cestu jsme jell bohatYm krajem dozravajiciho obili po krasne dálnici. Konedne jsme dojeli do Martina pozcie veder, ale pod vedenim pana ka a pana Balute vSe se vykidilo a hned jsme byli ubytovani v modernim hotelu a pc, ubytovani jsme zasedli k bohate veCeN.
