FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK The District III TAD at Lodge No. 84, Dallas, was well attended and many lodges and youth club members attended and came away with prizes. The prizes were fairly well distributed and the competition in talent and royalty was rather keen. The youth who participated displayed real fraternal fellowship and sportsmanship; more power to them! I am sure that DYC Ed Kamas will have a complete report for your information shortly. The day was rather sultry, however, a good attendance proved that our members DO care about our youth activities. Lodge No. 35, Elk, again attended in force, having chartered a bus, and it was loaded with people from that area of the district. Lodges 6, Cottonwood; 35, Elk; 66, Waco; and others in District III always seem to be present to strongly support their youth. The entries in all categories seem to get better each year. There will be tough competition at state, this year! * * This editorial business, especially in a fraternal society, sometimes becomes somewhat confusing. A person would think that our membership would be interested in what is going on in our Society, however, in many cases, that does not seem to be the case; for instance, at the District III YAD at Lodge No. 84. A TRUE FRA'rERNALIST IF If you, your lips would keep from slips, Five things observe with care; Of whom you speak, to whom you speak And how and when and where. If you, your ears would have from jeers, These things keep meekly hid; Myself and I, and mine and my, And how I do and did. Five most important words I am proud of you. Four most important words What is your opinion? Three most important words If you please. Two most important words Thank you. The least important word I. was asked this question by two members: "Rudy, what's going on In the SPJST these days?" Our reply to their question was in the form of another question: Don't you read the Vestnik? We feel that our membership should read the Excerpts of the minutes, the financial secretary's report, the insurance report and the legal adviser's report in the last two issues. Both admitted they hadn't
looked at the Vestnik very careful-
ly for the last month or so. On the other hand, there are numerous members who anxiously wait for the Vestnik to arrive and if it does not do so, they immediately report the fact. * * At any rate, please read this carefully — due to the July 4th holiday and the Post Office being closed on that date (Tuesday, July 4th) which is the day the issue of the Vestnik is picked up here in West, your Vestnik may have reached you a day or two late. It was printed and dispatched as usual, however, it probably was not distributed as usual; there is little we can do about the delivery of same. We are sure you understand. * * This will interest most of our readers, we are sure. We have heard so much about the friendly people of Slavic descent, especially those in Czechoslovakia; well this came to be true Saturday, June 24th when the entire cast of the puppet theatre DR,AK stopped by the printshop and Vestnik Office about 12:30 p.m. We met all of them and, while they went to eat, yours truly and Brother David Kolar went to tape the AmericanCzech Hour for Sunday, June 25th. Now, this is what happened in the friendly little city of West — Brother George Smajstrla found out that they were in West (he had
visited Czechoslovakia during WW
