FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK Maps showing directions to the District V and District VI meeting sites are in this issue for our members' information. You are encouraged to attend your district meetings. * * March 7th marked the birthday of Tomas Garrigue Masaryk, the first president of the Czechoslovak Republic. He is known as "President-Liberator" by the people of his country. We recently, observed the birthdays of Lincoln and Washington. The lives of many great men teach us many things, one of which, is to have unswerving faith in what you believe in and stand for. A person who is respected has his own convictions, is not afraid to state and explain them and defend them and is a person who is able to gain friends and their respect and trust and a person of strong convictions and has a very strong backbone. If a person has a negative approa.ch and attitude, then his ability to build and be constructive in his thinking is almost pill. The three great men mentioned above were all men with their own strong convictions and constitutions. Many people look at that type of person with awe and many others with envy. Those who would see them with envy, feel that success fell into their laps by itself, how-

Home Home is where you can be silent and still be heard ... When you can ask and find out who you are ... Where people laugh with you about yourself ... Where sorrow is divided and joy multiplied .. . Where we share and love and grow. ever, all would be very wrong, we are sure. We must all realize that the power to lead us to the little gate called "success" is within each one of us individually, and nowhere else. No one will lead us or push us to that little gate; we, and we alone, can do that. If we have our minds filled with thoughts of our illness, bad luck, our poor economic state, etc., then we have no place left in our mind for anything constructive. Think about this. Had President Masaryk carried a defeatist attitude even after the hard-earned independence sof his country was won, with great assistance from the United States and President Wilson, then he would not have been able to accomplish what he and Dr. Eduard Bones did. Bringing democracy to

the Czechoslovak Republic was not a simple task. President Masaryk ran head-on into resistance with his devout belief in our Americantype of democracy. There were minorities demanding to be heard from, his land reforms met strong opposition, he found resistance in his decision to separate church and state and many other changes patterned after ours. However, with kind and respectful conviction's, he brought the republic together, and Czechoslovakia became known as the most democratic country in entire Europe. Let us hope we are still setting forth the example our United States exemplified to the world at that time! For a time in the last few years our example was not exactly the best, however, our system proved itself equal to the task. * * To most people, there seems to be something worthwhile pertaining to the word "property," simply because our Society has reserved a place for property, and rightly so. To some people who value property as we do, it is of interest to learn that most persons do not think of life insurance as property. The main 'objective of property is to remember its value or produce income. If we are going to mention property, then we must examine
