Approximately one hundred Texans attended the ceremonies at the Newport-News Naval Base in Norfolk at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 10th. The U.S.S. Texas was formally christened in August of 1975 and was two years in the process of being equipped. The Texas delegation presented the vessel's crew with the traditional silver service and other gifts to the crew. This was a great honor for Brother Kubiak and our SPJST congratulates him for being chosen as one of our state's representatives at the ceremonies. * * District VII starts the fall season of district meetings Sunday, Sept. 18th in San Antonio •ith Lodge No. 133 as host. See the map on page 8 of this issue, and also the Bulletin Board. Next are Districts I and V, Oct. 9th, which date incidentally is also Czech Day at The State Fair in Dallas; District III, Oct. 16th, and District VI Oct. 23rd. Attend your district meetings! * The Second Annual Westfest is over and your editor and Brother David Kolar wish to thank the Sokols of Ennis and Dallas and the Beseda dancers of Ennis, Dallas, Abbott, and West for the wonderful performances on both days.
