FROM The Fourth Annual Czech Teachers' and Students' Conference was held Saturday, April 23 at SPJST Lodge Praha No. 29, in Taylor. After finishing work with the Vestnik that day, we attended and arrived later than we had hoped to, however, here are some of the things we know of. On the program Texas Representative Brother Dan Kubiak of Rockdale, who is also a sales rep resentative for the SPJST, presented an Official Memorandum from Governor Dolph Briscoe proclaiming April 23, 1977, as Czech Student Day in Texas to MC Woody Smith and also made a brief but sincere and to-the-point speech about the teaching of foreign languages in Texas and the ways and means in which this can be accomplished. The program following was presented by the various Czech Clubs of our universities here in Texas and was interesting and enjoyed by all. It was a very nice and different type of interlude away from our everyday duties, and very interestin g to say the least. This editor can only add — Keep up the interest and good work; you will never regret it! After the program and some socializing with the teachers and students, we attended the reconvened CESAT meeting which had been adjourned for the program at 2 P .m. Many useful ideas were discussed. And wrap in love, dear mother, linger still. papers for details. * * Some time ago we mentioned that we received a correspondence from the National Fraternal Con-
gress of America that their theme for this year will be "Fraternalism Is a Family Affair." Soon after, we received the same from District III Director Cyril (Sid) Pokladnik. It reads as follows: A Family Life Committee has been established by the National Fraternal Congress of America. William J. Wenger, NFCA president, said the committee was formed to help the Congress and its member-societies contribute to the strengthening of family life in the' United States and Canada. "There is a deep concern," he said, "on the part of myself and many fellow fraternalists about the disturbing trend of the breakdown of family life on the North American continent." After consultation with many colleagues, I was moved to give top priority to ways and means in which the fraternal benefit system might work at strengthening the role of the family," Mr. Wenger said. Objectives of the Family Life Committee, President Wenger said, are: 1) To develop and implement a program aimed at strengthening communications among members of families. 2) To make this family emphasis program available to member societies of the' Congress for use by their respective local units. 3) To provide such information,
