FROM THE EDITOR'''S DESK There are a number of things we will try to include and cover in this editorial for the urgent element of time has stepped in. First, by the time you will be reading this, the "Traditional Jazz Studio" direct from Prague, Czechoslovakia, will have performed in a number of Texas cities including Temple Junior College in Temple, Tuesday, April 12th. They will next appear at the Catholic Czech Club, 4930 Military Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75227, phone 381-9072, Friday night, April 15th. There will be a $1 per person charge at the door with the proceeds to go to the performers. We feel that many of our members and readers may wish to attend in the Dallas and surrounding area. They have won highest awards in Jazz competitions in more than 90 tours since 1967 throughout Eastern and Western Europe and will appear at the Heritage Festival in New Orleans, La., in the dates of April 19-25, before returning to Czechoslovakia. They are rather highly acclaimed in their field of the presentation of Jazz. * • Then we have the 3-day (April 15, 16, and 17) Czech Fest in Rosenberg at the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds in Rosenberg. This is the second annual event and many of our lodges and members in that area will be taking part in

AN EPITAPH Not many people really knew him, Although they all thought they did. His face smiled and his eyes twinkled with laughter, Tho' a sincere, fraternal and melancholy heart he hid. His was a life of service to his fellow man, However all who knew him were confused For they did not understand in anyway That deceptive mask he always used. He would stop in his daily duties To help his fellow man. For he felt that the human race Could survive, given the correct plan. I used to often watch him, his walks take As he traveled from there to there. Leaving hope and laughter in his wake. Oh, yes, what an epitaph to wear! the event. Lodges 175 Rosenberg and 81 Needville are taking a large part in helping make the C'zech Fest a success as they did last year. Best of luck is wished them in their efforts. * The District III spring meeting meeting will be held at Lodge No.

6, Cottonwood, Sunday, April 17. The agenda of the meeting is included in this issue; please refer to it. The last few District III meetings have been lightly attended and the officers are hoping for a larger turnout this time so try not to disappoint them. It is your district so show them and all that you are interested and care about what goes on in your organization, be it lodge, district and/or our entire SPJST. 0
