ROM THE EDITOR'S DESK In this issue is an appeal from our Honorary President Edward L. Marek of ourr Supreme Lodge requesting help from all of us, especially lodges, to help him cornpile a historical background and, actually, the history of our SPJST Society. There are very few of our senior members left who do have, in their memories, a store house of history as far back as they can remember. Brother Marek has asked me to call this to your attention and I will do all I can to assist him in his endeavor. There are members who are still living who will assist in this effort, we know. To name a few let us re'member members, for example, Brothers Adolf Miculka, Frank Vytopil, John Stasa, Paul Sablatura, Frank Dvorak, etc, to name a few. Please give him your assistance in this rather difficult effort. Good luck Brother Marek! You will have all this editor's assistance possible. • • Wednesday, February 23rd, Sister Lillie Hejl of Austin called long distance to advise us that our wellknown and longtime member, Dr. Josef Kopecky, of Lodge No. 133, San Antonio had died on that date. Dr. Kopecky was 90 years old and a very well respected doctor, in San Antonio and in our SPJST Society. We appreciate her thoughtfulness and her call and wish to thank her. We had the pleasure of meeting him at one time. More informa-
THE MINUTES IN YOUR LIFE One task at a time without worry or fear; One day at a time though tomorrow draws near; One deed well accomplished suffices the day; Start not two tasks, take time out to play. You cannot ask for sunlight from the night's dark door; One task and this day is enough to explore. Make every hour count in , the minutes that you spend, ause Tomorrow is a stranger; Today is a friend! tion is contained under Newsbriefs and in the Czech editorial. * • Remember the workshops scheduled in the near future. Read the notice and mark the dates on your calendar and keep them in your memory. In the early part of this year we received an invitation to attend the Press and Public Relations Conference of the National Fraternal Congress (NFC) in Chicago in the latter part of January. We could not attend, and, in hindsight, we realize that Chicago was battling a number of feet of snow and the worst winter in history at that time. We hope they had a very successful session. In the same let-
ter it stated that this year's theme for the NFC will be: "Fraternalism is a Family Affair." We feel that this is a very appropriate theme, especially for our Society! Last year's theme was also a good one. * Once again we are lacking space and have to delay some material, pictures, excerpts of the SL minutes, until next week or later, please bear with us. * Some of the pictures of the sales representatives are fron, our file of old "cuts" and, therefore, did not turn out too legible. To most people, there seems to be something worthwhile pertaining to the word "property," simply because our Society has reserved a place for property, and rightly so. To some people who value property as we do, it is of interest to learn that most persons do not contemplate on life insurance as property. The main objective of property is to remember its value or produced income. If we are going to mention property, then we must examine the circumstances and conditions under which our property might increase and produce income. The subject of life insurance, the property which we are concerned with, is to produce income under various conditions, namely when income from other sources has 'ceased. It will produce income
