FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK It was indeed gratifying to be in attendance and associated with a large number of members and guests in Round Top at the Lodge No, 179 chartering festivities. Members who attended from the largest and smallest lodges were on hand to spread their fraternal spirit to a lodge that was organized a year ago. Following the official portion of the ceremonies, the remaining entertainment of the program went quickly to where it left time for the Lodge No. 88 Choral Group and Concert Orchestra to present some old-time songs which included: "Muziky, Muziky," "Koline, Koline," and one of our favorite patriotic tunes: "Stars and Stripes Forever" by John Phillip Sousa. (A tune we hope shall live forever.) The day began with a very delicious noon meal and the chartering ceremonies commenced with the presentations of charter and lodge banner and SPJST insignia or plaque to the president of Lodge No, 179, Warrenton, Brother Harold Bergmanb. SL President Morris commenced the ceremonie's and SL Secretary-Treasurer Mikeska made the presentations and the chartering ceremonies were completed by membership taking vows to work together respecting the tenets of our SPJST Society in the name' of Benevolence, Humanity, and Brotherhood. Brother Morris'
THAT LITTLE BOY OF MINE A tiny turned-up nose; Two cheeks just like a rose; So sweet from head to toes; That little boy of mine. Two eyes that shine so bright; Two arms that hold me tight; Two lips that kiss goodnight; That little boy of mine. No one will ever know; Just what his coming has meant; Because I love him so; He's something Heaven has sent. He's all the world to me; And as he climbs upon my knee; To me he'll always be; That little boy of mine. address is, as he requested, in the Feature section of this issue. All in all, it was a very pleasant day with fair weather, and under the large oak trees it was not to hot, and there was enough breeze to keep everyone fairly comfortable throughout the large building at Round Top. The membership of Lodge No. 179 were in a gay mood and, as fraternalists, proved their friendly spirit prevailed in all of their actions. We are sure there is only success in the days ahead for them in their endeavors to build a large growing lodge in their locality. Good luck to all officers and members of Lodge No. 179, Warrenton is wished by
all of your SPJST brothers and sisters! The Lodge No. 86 Houston Czech Concert Orchestra and Choral Group added much to the day's entertainment and everyone seemed to be in a very optimistic mood for the future. Probably that is what we need in this election year of 1976 when the future is rather a question mark for many. This editor's father had a saying that went like this: There never was a situation so bad that it couldn't get worse. Thoughts always go back to the story of a person who had lost both hands and felt sorry for himself until he met another person who had lost both legs. As they talked, bemoaning their bad fortune along came a person who could not see and greeted them with "Good day to you." Think about it. • • The words in the center of our front page are the words of a song made popular by cowboy, singer, motion picture and TV star, Gene Autry. Since our two sons had birthdays in August(Terry Craig) and September (Edwin Joseph), the words of this song are' dedicated to them and all of the young men of our Society. • * Be sure to attend the State YAD Royalty Saturday, Sept. 25th at Lodge No. 177, Academy.
