FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK Saturday, July 31st, after finishing with the layout of our Vestnik at noon, we hurried on to the District III YAD Royalty at Lodge No. 25, Ennis, held that Saturday afternoon. We arrived in time and were able to see and enjoy the entire proceedings. Sister Maxine Sefcik covers the Saturday, July 31st Royalty rather thoroughly in her letter and report so we will not take up space with it here. The attendance was rather small. We did not stay for the dance that evening, because we had to rush back home, pick up the rest of the family and get our minds on the trip to District V YAD the next day. * * The Sunday, August 1st, District V YAD at Lodge No 88, Houston, was well attended and the youth and all parents are to be complimented for their enthusiasm and attentiveness during the entire afternoon. District V Youth Counselor Richard Wahlberg did an excellent job of keeping the audience's attention and the program proceeded at a steady pace which made the program and afternoon actually seem shorter than it was. The Arts and crafts, etc., were good and well displayed. The architectural work of Brother Gary Ermis was one of the first prizes that caught this person's eye, immediately. The royalty presentations were

One of the adults present came to me and stated that he was amazed at what our MST was doing for our youth, after he had witnessed the presentation of checks, trophies and prizes. He remarked, "They ought to never think of giving this up. This is wonderful for the youth and it gives them pride." It seemed that this was his first YAD viewing and he enjoyed it very much. I passed this on to Brother Richard Wahlberg as he was wiping the persperation off his face after the program (poor Tiny Tim). He appreciated a recognition of his efforts and rightfully so. Let us give our adults, who work with our youth, credit where credit is due; they deserve every bit of it. When-

ever I hear some criticism about our youth or youth leaders, this thought crosses my mind: How much have you contributed to make it better? To yours truly it was a most enjoyable day spent among the many, many friends at Lodge No. 88 (which to me was a second home for 20 years or so) and the only regrettable thing about such days is that you can spend only a few words with each person. To me, that is what fraternalism is all about. Another thing that impresses a person on these rare visits back "home" is the fact that young members you used to pick up as "tikes" and tease have their own little "tikes" to care for now. How time does fly! * * While in Houston August 1, I had the opportunity to discuss some aspects of our Czech Section with two of our Czech-oriented members and feel that I convinced them that I know what I stand for and that English is the official language here in the United States and everyone should be proud to be able to speak, read and write it and at the same time, be proud of any other language you are fluent in using in conversation, reading and/or writing. A personal conversation about such particulars is much more desirable than any other communication of any type. It is regrettable that time does not
