FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK For this issue of Vestnik we received a very large amount of convention pictures plus cutlines from SL President Morris and many letters and other article's, most of which we are trying to publish; some will have to be delayed very likely and, if so, bear with us. The one nice rewarding fact your editor appreciates is the fraternal understanding of all of our members in realizing the problems we face. From the standpoint of space needed for the betterment of our SPJST Society and its continued growth, our Publication Committee and delegates are to be commended for not even wishing to discuss a semi-monthly and/or tabloid form of our weekly Vestnik (Herald). It is time we started placing values where they belong and in the right places. From personal letters and footnotes received we know and realize you enjoy receiving the weekly Vestnik and will strive to make it even better and more interesting as time goes on. By all means, remember that this is YOUR Society and your paper; as long as you are interested we certainly will do our utmost to plea,se you. At the present time there are so many things that attention should be called to and yet, as is so usual with priorities and certain deadlines, etc., certain things have to be delayed, such as references
WHAT YOU GIVE, YOU GET If you walk along the path of life, You'll find this saying true; The way you treat folks you meet, Is the Way they will treat you! If you give a smile, you'll get a smile; A frown will make a frown, too; For what you give to other folks, Is what they'll give to you. If you want a friend, you must be a friend, Is a safe rule to pursue; To know how you treat other folks, Just watch how they treat you. It is hard to wear a sunbeam face When you are feeling blue; And yet, I say, 'tis the better way, For it gilds a face for you. to various aspects of the XXIInd convention which ended June 17th and other things. Brother John Stasa wrote a nice and historically informative article of the American Sokol Organization (ASO) which had taken much of his time and was supposed to go into the convention issue, however, space was at a premium and has been since. We are thankful that Brother Stasa understands and we plan to publish it as soon as is feasibly possible. We will probably have to publish it in a continued series and, if so, please keep the issues for your information. We had hoped to be' able to publish the
article in one issue, however, it is rather lengthy. Brother Stasa (in his eighties) is to be complimented for his dedication to both the' SPJST and Sokol. There are certain people in our everyday lives and, yes, in our own Society who very often use selfserving means to explore more public notice being cast their way. Brother Stasa, looks at life in a completely different way — he feels that he wants to contribute what he can while his memory still serves him and he is alive. He mentions many of our mehibers' relatives and ancestors in the article and you are advised to read it when it begins to appear whenever that may be. We cannot forecast how many pages we need for our SPJST material (which has, preference) until we get to a certain page each week. * * Sunday, June 27 we attended the District III YAD at Lodge No. 135, Ennis. The day was very nice and enjoyable and the youth seemed to be filled with anticipation with expectation of what the day would bring to them for their efforts. The enthusiasm these Youth Achievement Days (YADs) bring out in our youth are to be admired. Not only that but they meet many of their friends and make new ones. It really is heartwarming to see all of them and their parents taking interest in
