FROM THE EDITOR'S PESK In several preceding issues of the Vestnik you have been advised of the Miss SPJST Contest. When this program was presented and adopted in 1960, probably some of our members focused their thoughts on the idea that the program is partially a nuisance; however, the past results show that it does create activity, interest, and publicity for young and old members of our SPJST. Since 1960, our Society has had four Miss SPJST representatives, and each one has won the hearts of almost every fellow-member with their beauty, poise, personality and talent. On few occasions and very rarely do you find anyone who does not know what the SPJST initials stand for as used to be the case in days gone by. Again, the rules of the Miss SPJST Contest appeared in the preceding issues of the Vestnik, and you can refer to them and study up on the rules whenever a question arises within your lodge or district. This should increase the attendance in all district meetings . At the same time, we can help the Society stand as a beacon light if we can get everyore's cooperation during the entire year and that can help all of us in our advance forward. Let us imbue our youth with the knowledge of the richness of the heritage they are now enjoying,

A GOOD FORMULA FOR LIFE Give me a good digestion, And also something to digest; Give me a healthy body, With sense to keep it at its best. Give me a healthy mind, please! To keep the good and pure in sight, Which, seeing sin, is not appalled But finds a way to set it right. Give me a mind that is not bored, That does not whimper, whine or sigh; Don't let me worry too much over That fussy thing called "I." Give me a sense of humor, Give me the grace to see a joke, To get some pleasure out of life And pass it on to other folk. which is only possible in a free society, and let us all place our shoulders to the wheel in 1976 and build up our enthusiasm, faith, and thus enrich our lives, ever-mindful of the words of a departed fraternalist and friend: "I am only one. But I am, one. I cannot do everything. But I can do SOMETHING. What I can do I ought to do— What I ought to do, I will do!" Brothers and Sisters, there is a job to do. It can be done and we can do it. Let's get on with it — IN A DEMOCRATIC WAY!

Here we would like to remind all of our particular members who are concerned with our youth that State Youth Director Sister Dorothy Massey has a State Youth Leaders' Retreat April 3 and 4 at Camp Val Verde. Those youth leaders who can should make every effort to attend because much can be learned there by everyone. Remember there are new ideas coming up continually as time passes. Our office has received very many favorable reports from those who attended these various training classes in our seven districts and state, retreats in the past and recently. Best of luck to all of you when you attend. Our youth program and camps have come a long way in the last 20 years. Those of you who remember, the 1956 convention in Temple would not even hear of a Miss SPJST; we could not get anywhere with the idea. * * The average lesson of life in nearly all human cases is that when we are young, we think we know it all; nobody knows the answers as well as we do! However, as years pass, and we gain experience with age, we find that, if we look back, we realize that many of the things we did, we would do differently now. A farmer once remarked, "My son is a college graduate draftsman with a
