ROM THE EDIAR'S DESK Sunday, February 22nd a District H Sales Representatives' banquet was held at Lodge 80 in Holland. DSR Lad Zatopek invited several guests: SL officers and editor, including their spouses. The evening commenced with a social and getting acquainted with the new fraternal fellow workers and reminiscing with old acquaintances who helped achieve the tremendous amount of insurance sales in 1975, who sold over $5,000,000plus of insurance to over 1,100 members in our Society. It was in order for the productive sales representatives of District II to have a legitimate reason to be jovial over their accomplishments. The amount of sales in this district equal one-third of the total sold by our entire Society. In fact District II went all out last year and certainly did their share in the fraternal work field. Several pictures of the appreciation dinner appear in this issue -pages :6 and 7 — and Brother Lad Zatopek and his wife Maryann are to be complimented for being gracious hosts to the large group. Quickly, the hosts called the assembly to order and it was time to enjoy the menu and the official business was made brief with a few remarks by District II Director Henry Vitek, who spoke for the Supreme Lodge and all concerned. SIX COMMON MISTAKES OF MAN 1) The delusion that personal gain is made by crushing others. 2) The tendency to worry about things that cannot be changed or corrected. 3) Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it. 4) Refusing to set aside trivial preferences. 5) Neglecting development and refinement of the mind, and not acquiring the habit of reading and study. 6) Attempting to compel others to believe and five as we do. appreciation and gratitude to all sales representatives and asked ev eryone individually to be introduced. The highlights of the evening — the presentation of awards -came when SFM Silas Smith was called upon to take charge of the proceedings. Brother Smith conveyed greetings to the assembly from SL Vice President Joe B. Hejny and Sister Stasie Hejny, who were unable to be present. Brother Smith extended his congratulations to all the sales representatives and then presented the awards and special plaques to the recipients. Following the award presentations everyone enjoyed the frater-
nal banter among those in attendance. The remainder of the evening consisted of singing, dancing and listening to the fine music on the organ played by Brother Helmer Dahl. It was gratifying to be among the fellow members at Lodge 80 in Holland and the festivities were well organized. The hosting lodge also deserves our compliments on their recently remodeled lodge home, which enhanced the gathering's atmosphere. It was indeed a pleasure to be a part of the gettogether. May District II prosper in the Bicentennial year for another productive and historic record. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF YOU! * * While attending the banquet, the realization came, to mind that some of our members were concerned about certain affairs and wished to discuss them with yours truly, and this was done rather briefly. A few members who were present felt that understanding was lacking and our SPJST should be bolstered by harmony and friendly attitudes in all of our aspects of the fraternal field. They all were assured of your editor's support in that endeavor. Of course, this harmonious attitude must come from the leadership and your editor can only help it along. After all is said, we must fall back to the statement
