President's Annual New Year's Message and Report Dear Members: In addition to periodic reports in the Vestnik during the year, it has been traditional for the president of the Supreme Lodge to submit an annual New Year's message and report to the membership for the year just concluded. From all indications, the year 1975 is going to be another good year for our Society, perhaps even a little better than our previous banner year of 1973. We now have a total of 128 lodges with 51,000 certificates in force. (The latter is a close estimate since the final figure will not be known until sometime in early 1976). During 1975 we saw the merger of Lodges 27 and 165 in Moulton to form new Lodge No. 184; Moulton. This action was taken on 9 July 1975. One lodge, Lodge No. 158, near West, disbanded as of 2 January 1975. Two completely new lodges were organized in 1975, namely, Lodge No. 181 Montgomery County in Conroe, organized on 16 February 1975, and Lodge No. 179 in Warrenton organized on 3 September 1975. We have members being written up into four additional new lodges which have not yet been organized or chartered. Hopefully, this will come about sometime during 1976. We have also set a new record in the amount of insurance sold and

issued during 1975. By the end of the year, we should have issued in the neighborhood of $13 million in new insurance, which actually exceeds that of 1973, which stands as our record year so far. This is truly a magnificent achievement and credit goes to the entire Insurance Department, including the Supreme Lodge Vice President's office, the State Field Manager, District Sales Representatives, local sales representatives, and last, but not least, the membership at large, who also contributed to the new membership gains by their recommendations of new members. It has been a team effort and we are very proud of all of you. (Net figures in insurance gained and members available in the spring of 1976). Premium refunds to members for 1975 through December will

amount to approximately $185,000. The 7% refund to lodges for 1975 (through December) will amount to approximately $105,000. A total of 349 death claims were paid through Dec. 1st, with 12 pending at that time. New Lodge Halls. 1975 also witnessed a heretofore unachieved record in the SPJST, namely, the construction and dedication of three new lodge homes. Lodge No. 154 in Fort Worth dedicated their new lodge home on 26 July 1975. Lodge 13 in Dime Box dedicated their new lodge home on 26 October 1975. The most recent dedication and opening was that of Lodge 18 In Elgin on 7 December 1975. This is really an achievement that the SPJST, particulaxly the members of these three lodges, can be proud of and which has never happened before in the history of the SPJST. Hats off to all of you and we salute you! These new lodge constructions have resulted in sizable growth in membership in these lodges — and the SPJST. Workshops 1975. I feel that the Society made a good step forward in conducting workshops for the local lodge officers in 1974 and 1975. The Supreme Lodge, after carefully weighing all of the considerations, decided not to conduct these workshops in 1976 because it is a convention year and an otherwise rather crowded agen-
