FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK In this issue of our Vestnik, you will note that we are publisiling "SPJST By-Law Recommendations" under that same heading and we will continue to use the same heading until our XXIInd convention. These recommendations and clarifications were sent in to our SPJST By-Law Secretary Thelma Hrncir, who forwarded them, as per our by-laws, to the Vestnik for publication. Sister Hrncir has a letter at the beginning of the section. Please read her letter, because they have forthcoming meetings planned. Readers will nate that a number of recommendations have already been proposed and we ask that you also read these carefully and give them your consideration. While on the subject of recommendations, etc, you will note that, while in the hospital, yours truly made some recommendations and, also, some observations, which really cannot be resolved until after the final results of our lodges' delegate meetings. By-Law Committee Chairman Brother Jerry Milan made some very appropriate remarks at the District III meeting at Lodge No. 35, Elk, when he stated that the committee needs some real downto-earth, specific recommendations, which is true and very desireable. When the results of our annual elections, therefore, are
LIFE When I consider Life and its few years -A whisp of fog betwixt us and the sun; A call to battle, and the battle done Ere the last echo dies within our ears; A rose choked in the grass; an hour of fears; The gusts that past a darkening shore to beat; The burst of music down an unlistening street — I wonder at the idleness of tears. —Lizette W. Reese known, we feel there will be numerous recommendations made to the By-Law Committee. Here, we would remind our readers to be sure and read the minutes of the Last Supreme Lodge meeting and also, note that they will have proposals for changes and certain recommendations in the future. Please keep posted on all by carefully reading your SPJST Vestnik. * * We have mentioned the District III meeting which we were privileged and happy to attend. The 'meeting was well organized and the reports were well given, and well received. District III always has a very active meeting and lively discussions. The attendance
probably could have been somewhat larger, however, at this time of the year, there are so many activities everywhere that, by the time the populace scatters in so many different directions, the attendance is thinned out at all functions. You will note, on page 2, column 2, District III has listed a new District Youth Counselor, namely Brother Ed. Kamas of Lodge No. 130, Dallas. We regretted to see DYC' Wilma Nesuda and Assistant DYC Rosemarie Banik resign, however, we are sure they know what is best in each of their cases. We May note that Sisters Wilma Nesuda, District TIT Youth Counselor, and Elsie Brdecka, District VI Youth Counselors, are two good district youth counselors who have served continuously since the inception of our youth p officially, a period or approximately 16 years. Yes, a long time indeed. The new District III Assistant Youth Counselor is Sister Bessie Petr of Lodge No. 84, Dallas. We wish Brother Kamas and Sister Petr much success in their efforts and with the youth program. May District III continue in its successful youth movement! We are sure that, with the usual youth enthusiasm shown in the past, all will continue well.
