FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK As of Wednesday afternoon, October 15, having been released from the hospital, we are back at "Ye Ole' Editor's Desk." We feel fine, although, as the doctors warned; Don't over-do what you came here to be corrected for! * * Last issue, October 15, we wrote of the official dedication of Lodge Texaska° Orlice No. 13, Dime Box, on October 26. The information of the dedication is on page 3 of this issue and was received Saturday, October 11, delayed due to Brother Morris' duties with the quarterly SL meeting and the lack of his time, and also here at the printshop. We feel all of our members will and do understand, especially our good fraternalists at Lodge No. 13. Let us all attend the grand opening and dedication and help them on their journey forward. We can all see, by the program that nice arrangements have been made to make the day pleasant, entertaining and most enjoyable among true fraternalists. Remember — Lodge No. 13, Dime Box, was one of the original chartering lodges of our SPJST, in 1897! Let's show their officers and members that we appreciate their efforts and are wishing them well in the future! * * Many of our members, surely remember the time in October 1962 when our then Editor L. 0. Hosek

HAVE A SMILE TODAY! When I was very, very small Someone said one day: "Here's a basket of smiles for you, Try giving them all away." So through the years I've tried my best To give them all away; But the more I give the more I have Every single day. —Velta Myle Allen * * DANDELIONS AND ROSES My son brought me dandelions When he was three years old -Ragged, crumpled dandelions, But the color of pure gold. Now my son is thirty-three, And he brings me roses red — But why, with all their loveliness, Do I wish for dandelions instead? Annie Dulaney died suddenly and the Publication Committee and Supreme Lodge met soon after to find a replacement for Brother Hosek. It was at that meeting when Brother Nick A. Morris was chosen as a replacement for him to become editor as of January, 1, 1963. For the rest of the year of 1962 the SPJST Vestnik was published regularly every week through the efforts of the Cechoslovak Publishing Company mainly due to the

devotion to our Society of Brothers Jerome Kopecky, shop foreman, John Ripley, typesetter, and Jos. F. Holasek, publisher. During those few months, these brothers, who were well versed with the format and requirements of the Vestnik, actually did the job of putting out the Vestnik. Why do I write these lines? Simply because during my brief stay in the hospital, although I saw the final copy before each publication, brought to the hospital by Sister Sefcik, these two fine fraternalists again took the responsibility, with Brother Ripley and Sister Maxine Sefcik taking care of the English section and Brother Kopecky, although retired, doing the Czech section. My devoted, heartfelt fraternal thanks to such devoted co-workers and sincere fraternalists! I hope I can repay them in some way in the future. * * Your editor's thoughts . . In October I wonder why, if a man is as wise as he thinks he is, he is content to go away from the tribulations of a job at a time when the most enduring thing he can acquire is a sunburn and perhaps a case of poison ivy. Summer really isn't the ideal time for a vacation. If ever there was a season for man to savor this earth, October is its peak and prime. Now is when good things abound for man's enjoyment.
